I attended a wedding here in October and was pretty disappointed. I have been here once before for a Fourth of July party and had some delicious seafood appetizers and really good drinks. I was looking forward to a great experience again. Let me first start by saying the view is incredible and that’s why I rated this two stars. The cocktail hour was pretty sad. There was a teeny tiny table with a few store bought looking crackers on it and barely any hors d’oeuvres being passed around. The only hor d’doerve I saw were a few pieces of some dark looking substance that I would not go near. The drinks were delcious and refreshing and it was a nice touch that hot apple cider was being passed around to the family of the bridal party, but not enough for all of the guests to have their own, forcing many of us to share. I was looking forward to dinner and super hungry because I barely ate anything during cocktail hour, which is unusual for me because I’m usually stuffed after the cocktail hour at weddings. The dinner was served buffet style. We had penne a la vodka, chicken parmigiana, and boiled tasteless vegetables. This is the kind of dinner I throw together or buy from our local pizza shop after working all day. It was pretty disappointing and unfulfilling. I’m not sure if this selection of food was an emphasis to cut corners by the wedding hosts, but unfortunately I’m left with a negative perception of the venue and feel the food is a large representation of a business.

I have heard many great things about the Snapper Inn. Unfortunately, I have never gotten the chance to eat there so this review will not be about the food — sorry. Their regular hours are 12 pm — 9 pm. However, they’re closed on Mondays. Now, the problem that I have is that they’re closed on Tuesdays for half the year, but their hours online(i.e. websites like Google) have not been adjusted. I checked online before driving 30 minutes to get there, and since everything said«Open Now» I had no hesitations. The best part was that I wasn’t even going for myself, I was going to get someone a gift certificate. I got all the way there only to find out they were closed, and then had to drive all the way back empty-handed. My criticism is that I have worked at restaurants, pastry shops, etc, and when the hours change for winter, the management is capable enough to adjust the hours on every medium that way all possible customers know when to come in. That way they don’t lose any customers by feeding them false information saying the place is open when it’s not; because this results in customers believing the place is open, driving all the way there, and when they find out it’s not open they resent the establishment because they allowed their hours to be misrepresented. If you’re closed on Tuesdays for half the year, the restaurant’s website should NOT say«12 pm — 9 pm» and then in fine print say«Except for these months.» The website should be edited for the winter months to say«CLOSED.» And all other websites should be adjusted to say closed because they all currently say«Open 12 pm — 9 pm.» Businesses are expected to edit their information on platforms like Google, so this is directly the restaurant’s fault. I’m sure if you’re from the area and frequent this spot often you probably know that it’s closed on Tuesdays, just like I know some of the hours to my local joints. However, as mentioned, I live 30 minutes away, the only thing I have to rely on is checking the hours online, and when those hours are incorrect, I have a problem with the establishment and their lack of consideration for possible customers. I’m aware this isn’t the worst thing to complain about, but I wasted over an hour of my time driving somewhere that I didn’t have to drive because they were incapable of adjusting their hours. I’m not sure if I’ll ever go out of my way for this place again. Not worth the aggravation even if their food is decent. I’m just wondering how many other people have gone through this… All which could have been avoided sadly.

I came here for the Chowder Contest and was pleasantly surprised. They are located directly on the water & we had a beautiful view of people on their sailboats even in this cool weather. The Chowders were all good but The Snapper Inn had the best Manhattan Clam Chowder hands down! The bartenders were all very friendly & courteous & handled the crowd well. We never had to wait long for a beverage. I had a Stella & a Moscow Mule later on. My uncle ordered Heineken both times & my dad had a SAM Adams Cold Snap, which I really liked & a Bloody Mary, that had waaay more Mary than bloody! In other words it packed a wallop! I would like to return to try their real menu out. But they did a great job with hosting the Chowder Contest! 2-6-2016

Attended New years Day brunch with my family of 11 at the time. The group of us can eat, and together, tried every single item available for brunch. Now while I do not want to get into every single specific item, as there is a huge array of available eats for brunch from paella to lobster ravioli, to prime rib, omelette and sausage, very few items came up dissapointing. What I want to put out there more than anything is the service here is immaculate, polished, very courteous staff constantly looking to assist you and everyone at your table while making conversation, jokes, and tending to even specific needs. The experience here is as any brunch, all you can eat anything should be, relaxing and sipping mimosas while you down plates and plates of food. I appreciate your services and we are looking to return soon.

On Friday the thirteenth we had our marriage and reception at the Snapper Inn. It starts off with Paul the manager who could not have been more accomadating or receptive to our ideas. The Inn is magnificent, the water setting, the interior, and attention to small details is amazing. People complain about pricing… there are no complaints here… you pay for what you get, the best.(This is NOT the Red Lobster). We have been to fancier places and the food was not half as good. There were no negative comments from our guests, even the vegetarians were delighted! Servers were attentive without being overbearing. We highly recommend it! In addition, with the beautiful backdrop of Oakdales Harbour, our photos are sure to be magnificent. What a great way to start a married life!

The Snapper Inn, set on calm backdrop of blue waters in Oakdale isn’t such a calm experience all the time… Hit-or-miss quality and selection, with hit-or-miss service. They do have a pleasant brunch in which mimosas never stop flowing, so it gains points in that aspect. Go and try it out, but don’t expect much, as i feel you will agree, that this restaurant has gone down hill in just about every way possible. Recently I feel like every time I go I love it or hate it.

A very pleasant surprise. Truthfully I expected a beautiful view with only ok food, service, and pricing… Was I surprised? Yes, the setting was spectacular, but everything else was just as good. Our server was excellent and the food ordered was terrific. From drinks to dessert we were satisfied. Specials made the pricing very fair. Nice that the manager stopped by to chat and to make sure that we were happy. A quick return is already in the planning stage!

Came here for A Surprise Nerdy 30 birthday party and it was awesome ! The set up was outside under a tent and the gazebo bar was perfect… It was literally right next to where we were all sitting. The place seems a little old looking(weathered a bit much like all water dining restaurants) on the inside but the food is good and it’s very clean. I’ve eaten here before with my parents prior to coming for this party and their lobster mac and cheese is the For the party, we had caprese salad, penne ala vodka, baked clams, chicken parm and some beef in sauce. Seemed to be good as everyone went up for seconds and even thirds. They were also good and on top of replenishing the trays as they dwindled down from the beast attacks. Bc obv what happens when you’re drinking … YOUWANNAEATEVERYTHING… Needless to say it was a good day. Perfect for being on the water to overlook all the boats … I plan on coming back next week for dinner on the water with friends Very romantic for a nice dinner date or come here with a larger party… There is outdoor seating but not much, I would probably call ahead…

Only reason I didn’t give five stars is because of the wait for food and the sandy oysters which I’ll get to. No valet but plenty of parking which I’d rather park my own car. We made a reservation and waited about fifteen minutes to be seated since not everyone was there I guess. We ordered wine which was delicious Malbec bottle from Mendoza, Ar. We shared some appetizers. I ordered the oysters which were great tasting and sweet but sandy, not washed very well which is always gross to me. The smoked chicken quesadillas were so good. The only thing is the waitress separated the way the food came out so there was probably a thirty minute wait between the oysters and the quesadillas. I was with four other girls so it wasn’t a big deal since we all wanted to hang out anyway. The menu tends to be very pricey. For example the fish tacos were 26.95 as an entrée. I thought that was a little extreme unless this is some high end taco of some sort lol. Overall good experience. Pretty location on the water, very accommodating staff especially when splitting the bill and delicious food for the most part.

Service a touch slow… May not fully as asked, nor was it seasoned. The food quality is still good… Would and will go back

A group of us went to the Snapper Inn for dinner last week. This is a very nice restaurant, on the formal dining side of the spectrum. We had been there a while ago but I did not really remember the details when we went in. The room is very nicely decorated. The food was very good. All of the entrees were properly cooked and well presented. The service was also excellent. Also, I must point out that we were there to celebrate my son’s graduation from Marine Corp boot camp. The manager and waiter come over and comped his entrée. This was very much appreciated. The ½ lb crab leg entrée was excellent and a great value. So… If you are looking for a formal dining experience on the water(there is a dock outside for a stroll after eating), the Snapper Inn is a good call.

This place has been a favorite of my family’s for years and I just had lunch with them here recently. To start the waitress told us the specials and gave us the regular menu and the menu with the specials and the fish they are serving for the day. I really liked this since so many places tell you the 5+ specials and you forget what they are while looking over the regular menu. If you chose a fish you can have it prepared broiled, fried, blacked, francese, or scampi. And each were served with sautéed vegetables and a choice of starch which was either French fries, mashed potatoes, or rice. I chose the grouper which I had prepared broiled with the mashed potatoes. The grouper was delicious and the potatoes as well. The side of vegetables was good too. We had the lobster & crab cake served with a nicely seasoned remoulade. We also ordered the grouper served blackened and with rice, the seafood platter served scampi style and a fried mahi mahi. We all loved our dishes. The server and busboy were both very attentive and friendly. I did not try myself but my family said the Bloody Mary’s were good. They host a lot of private parties and have a few rooms for that so they can accommodate various party sizes. My mom was here recently for a bridal shower where they served brunch and she said it was excellent. They serve brunch on Sundays, never had it before but the menu looks good. At $ 35 per person for brunch it’s only worth it if you are going to eat the expensive things at the brunch buffet and carving stations like the shrimp, crab legs, and sirloin steak. My only criticism of the place is that it is not vegetarian friendly other than a few of their salads. But maybe you could ask for a vegetarian pasta dish since they have pasta as part of some entrees. I know some say this place is expensive. Yes you would pay a lot less by going to Friday’s, Applebee’s or some other chain with barely mediocre food with no view. But here you get a pretty view of the south bay. I have been to most of the waterfront restaurants in Long Island and all of the fancier places have similar prices. For those trying to save money, I highly recommend coming here for lunch which is cheaper and has a similar menu as dinner.

Solid 3.5. And I literally just stared at my screen for a couple of minutes to decide on which way to round my rating. Overall, have to round down, though still think it’s a good option to try out, and make your own decision. Lovely, quaint pavilion. Nice location. Clean facilities. Nice variety of selections for both liquor and food. Some really solid app options(LOVED the eggplant roulade, still impressed by the massive size of the jumbo shrimp, LOVED the Bleu Balls, good pigs in a blanket, and solid, HUGE, meaty wings!). Some really attentive, polite, professional wait staff, multiple who went out of their way to be accommodating. Then there were the bartenders. The first one I went to told me that the liquor I ordered wasn’t on the bar… while I was looking right at the bottle. I just pointed to it. He got flustered, gave an excuse, then didn’t know how to make my drink. So I got it rocks. Healthy pour. The rest of my drinks were ordered through the waitress, and were awesome. Then I went back up to get the same long island I’d been drinking… and it was WAY watered down. Went back to ordering through the waitress? Just fine. And this is the treatment you might get from simply pointing out that the beverage you want to give them money for is available, and then making a point to over tip to the initial interaction. Then there was the food. I just found it to be bland on the whole. The lobster mac was awesome. The salmon in cream sauce was okay(though drowning in sauce). The Cabernet Sauce with mushrooms was actually quite lovely. But everything else(I tried the sirloin, fried chicken, and regular mac) were all bland… and the fried chicken was really just a hop up from Shake ‘n’ Bake :*-( The worst was that the potatoes on the mashed potato bar were cold. if you can’t keep the foot warm while catering… At these prices, everything you serve better be on point. So some real winners in service and cuisine… and some real hard flops. I wouldn’t say no to returning to dine. But I wouldn’t go «OHMYGODWEHAVETOGOTHEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRE!!!» back. However, I would highly recommend the location for any outdoor event(if they allow for outside catering).
