The Sayville Inn

Historic location. New owner really made this place nice and created a unique menu. Atmosphere and décor is wonderful-​rustic nautical. Food was very flavorful and fresh. Had corn salsa for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. Service was fast and our waitress was very tentative and friendly. Women’s bathroom was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated as well. No tv’s in the restaurant area, only in the bar area, which is a huge plus for me. My only slight gripe is the bar. There were loud mouths there disturbing my cozy experience. Dining area and bar area need to be better separated.

I clearly see a lot of the owners friends posting 5-​Star reviews for hype. The food was truly average. The menu selection is very limited. The waitress literally Took Forever, while the owner watched us sit there. And there was a toothpick in my dads burger. No Thanks. Miss the old Sayville Inn.

Great atmosphere, great food. Just moved to Sayville and this place is going to be my staple restaurant. It’s very charming and the staff is very friendly. I had a great experience. And the buffalo chicken taco is AMAZING!

This small restaurant Bar and grill is on point. I love coming here and getting their Burgers. OMG soooo good. I love how they are on served on English Muffins. Their beer selection is great as well. I will always come back. I have been here twice this past few months and I will always come back now. MMM MMMM Good.

I love the look inside! It will bring you back to the 1930’s when places were cozy, classy and charming I felt as if the bar area reminded me of the bar in its a wonderful life. I went because all are friends were raving about it. We did not mind waiting 30 min. for a table cause the kids enjoyed people watching and the crowd and people in Sayville are friendly and always saying a quick «Hi» so time flew by. Waitress was extremely nice and attentive enough were she wasn’t bothering you but I also you did not have to call her over for drinks or to take my order. I would say she is exactly what I want in a waitress. Staff was dressed nice and nobody who worked there looked shady, messy or dirty important when trusting someone with your food. Will change beers based on season. Ordered honey bbq wings they were the best I ever had but I’m not going to give a 4 or 5 star rating on apps. We ordered kids grill cheese just call it a toasted cheese sandwich, cheese was not melted but the five year old ate it because he didn’t know any better and he was hungry. Three year old ate a hockey puck cheese burger (not ordered to be a hockey puck) fries were good. We ordered and shared the coffee burger (again cooked way to much not juicy). Bun was great but it also needed either more of the sauce or some other topping. It was missing something. We also ordered French dip sandwich wrap. Wrap bread was delicious but the sandwich itself was missing something and meat was a little dry. I think the kitchen staff needs more help! The person who designed the menu give you props the people putting together that persons ideas needs to work on it. More sauce! Stop over cooking meat and put a cook in there that will run a kitchen making sure everyone’s food comes out the way it should. I will return after my month diet.

Try the Long Island chowder which is ½ & ½ New England & Manhattan chowders. It’s probably the BEST SOUP EVER that I’ve had. I can’t wait to order it as take-​out. We also had the chicken wings that were cooked just perfect. The owner, Chuck is very visible & friendly. The fish on the fish & chips platter is light & flaky. Great service also. Can’t wait to go back.

Drinks, food, and home made desserts. U must try it all. Great for parties in the private room out back. Truly a great set up.

Very good food. If you want to hear your fellow diners and you’re a stickler for service then perhaps not the place for you. If you’re looking for a restaurant with a funky vibe and a meal to kick a night out or a group of young people celebrating an occasion then definitely worth a try!

So great to see the Sayville Inn back in action! The history behind this place is cool… Great atmosphere… As soon as you walk in, you feel welcome. Staff was attentive and friendly throughout the night. My buddy had a draft beer and I had a cider (great selection). Food was on point… Salad was fresh… wings were fantastic and the tacos were awesome. I’ll be back for sure!

3.5 starsNewly Renovated under new Ownership, this Sayville standby off the beaten path is a Gem. Comfortable seating, nice bar and separate outbuilding/​tavern add to this historical’s charm. Limited menu till November but burger menu’s excellent.

Went to opening night and had a blast. Great beer, great food, and a great time. The John Scott’s Wings are a must have appetizer. For dinner the Tuscan Burger was a home run. Can’t wait for many more meals to come!

Homey atmosphere with delicious food. Always good specials and the service is great. Love looking at the décor and always notice something new.

This is a very solid restaurant.
The food has always been very good. Fresh and flavorful, always nice and hot. Good old Americana menu that tastes like a nice home cooked meal. The prices for food are very reasonable, as are the drink prices. A nice spot for Valentine’s Day.
Slightly outdated look, but adds to the charm of the place. Will absolutely return.

I hoped for better based on the reviews.
Honestly the filet was over cooked and without any flavor (I should have gone with my gut instinct and had a burger).
The dessert was store bought.
And the Irish coffee I could not finish.
One star for good service and live music.

HIT OR MISS. Lately MISS more often. And hey, AMEX only? I have AMEX but dont always wish to use it nor cash. Not cool. Great space, but unpredicatable kitchen. Used to be a proven consistent go to but not anymore

Good food consistently, pricey, but in line with other neighborhood restaurants…
This has always been a local favorite. It’s close to home and the food has been consistently good through the years. It can be pricey for the location but most restaurants in this area have the similar pricing.
We haven’t been here in a year or two, so on this last occasion, we stopped in at 7:30 on a Saturday and we shocked to see there were many empty tables? What happened? This place is usually packed on a Saturday night.
The place looked the same and they still list the specials on a board. The young, pleasant waitress took our drink order and came out with a bread basket and a special spread for the day, an olive tapanade. This was exactly what we expected and it was all delicious.
New policy: Salads are no longer included. A charge for salad is $ 5. I ordered the Black Bean Veggie Soup $ 7. Okay, I realized that all restaurants have to cut back, but the included salad was always a nice perk. This added about another $ 15 to the cost for us. Very difficult to take something away when people are used to getting it for years, and not have them feel disappointed.
Our dinners were delicious. My husband had the Price Rib with roasted potatoes, $ 25, and I had Salmon with rice $ 24. Both dinners came with perfectly cooked snap peas and delicious carrots. Delicious dinners! We did not order dessert or coffee.
One issue for me is that the guitar music was annoying. The music was not pleasant to my ears and I usually love a guitar. This musician played songs I could not identify and sometimes sounded off-​key. Probably just me?
What happened to the piano player?

We have lived down the road from the Sayville Inn for a little more than a year and my husband has been dying to go there. We finally decided to go for drinks and dinner around Christmas and were not impressed.
First, we walked in and found out they only accept cash, checks (yes, you’re reading that correctly, checks) and American Express. We had to leave to hit the ATM.
When we returned, we were the only 2 at the bar and there were only 2 other people at a table. There were no happy hour specials (although, they did have my favorite beer, Stella, which isn’t always available). There was a bar menu w limited sandwich type items. My husband was happy w his burger and I liked my grilled chicken sandwich.
