Food was good. Very low-key place. Service was great! We were impressed by the service. One of the bathrooms was out of order; that does happen, I suppose. This is your basic family restaurant, certainly not fine dining but a very decent place with good food and excellent service. Would absolutely go again and recommend to a friend.

…not going into deep detail, the wonderful thing about this place is its been here for years and maintains a fresh, «regular» presence. from a perfect cocktail to locally sourced seafood, come here for a traveler’s restorative. the salad bar is not ‘all that’ but the stuff they put out is fresh and flavorful. they seem to be featuring pasta dishes these days so I suggest going with the day’s special. They manage the standard pub fare with authority and wouldn’t disrespect a good cut of meat, as I saw with the filet served to my left. all ’round a good dining experience, not fancy but far better than adequate. oh, and there’s sports on the bar monitors, expect Bruins, Pats and Sox of the Red variety… open year’round and you will find me here over the next couple of months!

Ocean View Restaurant is a Seafood restaurant near Martha’s Vineyard. For drinks, we ordered a half carafe of Sangria and Pina Colada. For starters, we shared a Fried Calamari, which consisted of crispy, lightly breaded, calamari served with homemade marinara sauce. The Onion Soup consisted of beef broth with onions topped with cheese melted onto of a baguette toast. For entrees, The Fillet of Sole Almondine consisted of a fillet of sole rolled in flour and seasonings, sauteed in buttery white wine and topped with toasted almonds. The Fillet of Sole Piccata consisted of chicken breast rolled in flour and basic seasoning, sauteed in a lemon, butter, white wine and capers sauce. The Shrimp and scallop Oceanview consisted of two jumbo shrimp and two scallops, sauteed in lemon, butter and white wine, tossed with penne pasta, and topped with sauteed minced onion and mushroom. All of the entrees were served with pilaf and mashed sweet potatoes. The Spaghetti was topped with meatballs and served with garlic bread.

I met a couple of friends for lunch. We hadn’t seen each other for a while so we had a lot to talk about. we had a couple of bowls of popcorn plus drinks before ordering. Our server was very polite and was not pushing us to hurry up and order. When we finally ordered, our sandwiches came quickly. I had a fish sandwich that came with fries, cold slaw, lettuce, tomato and onion. I had them put my fish on rye toast which was perfectly toasted. The fish was very fresh and good. I don’t eat cold slaw so I can’t comment on that. My friends both had the French dip sandwiches which came with au jus and fries. They enjoyed their meals as much as I did mine. We will be back.

Delicious and reliable New England style seafood. Awesome seafood platter, fried clams, stuffed lobster, etc. The restaurant opens till 10p; tavern opens till 11p and the tavern’s menu is surprisingly large. A must whenever I’m visiting.

Wow, probably the worst restaurant experience on the vineyard. We sat in the tavern. It was almost a hassle to seat us. The service was extremely slow. The food was OK, but honestly there are better places right down the street. I would never go back here.

We had a great family dinner on the Tavern side. We were able to order off both menus and the food and service was outstanding! Parking was easy too which is always a problem here in the Vineyard!

As a rather sizable party, we played it safe and researched which restaurants in Oak Bluffs would take reservations. Ocean View was one. The other two we found were Martha’s Vineyard Chowder and Offshore Ale. Seems we arrived before the dinner crowd, but by the time our food came, the dining room was packed. While we waited, however, I headed over to the popcorn machine in the corner of the tavern portion of the business and helped myself. Tip — dry the bowl first. Their bread arrived warm and tasty with individually wrapped pats of butter. So that and the popcorn helped to tame the edge of our hunger as we awaited our dinner. Given that our visit was on a Saturday, several of our party opted for the Saturday Night Special — ROASTPRIMERIB $ 19.99 with 2 sides, veggies and choice of rice or potato, dine-in only. For an extra dollar, we upgraded our rice/potato option to sweet potato fries. Totally worth it! The vegetable of the day was butternut squash which was great. And the meat itself was pretty good as well. Entrees in the regular dinner menu were all priced in the twenties, ranging from $ 22.99-$ 29.99. However, I requested a Tavern menu in addition to the restaurant menu and was able to order the Bacon Cheddar Burger $ 10.99, swapping out the fries for their mashed potato. Good choice there too. The mashed potato was quite flavorful, although the texture a bit pasty. The twin slices of bacon were nice and crisp and totally added to the whole burger experience. While I fully enjoyed my meal here, another member of the party later noted that based on their regular menu it is a bit pricy here for what you get. Agreed, but I guess that’s the Martha’s Vineyard surcharge. 3.5 stars.

One of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been too. Food was bland. The owner very rude. We saw one of the servers dip her fingers into a glass of water. Will not recommend this place to anyone.

We visited here about two weeks ago. I ordered take out for my family as we were here as guests of my sister-in-law and her family I went in to pick up my order and the woman couldn’t find the bill and asked if definitely placed an order. I assured her that I placed an order and that I was told I would be ready in 45 minutes. Next she said«Well I don’t have your order here… you must’ve already picked it up!» I swore that I hadn’t picked it up yet. Finally, after basically calling me a list, she found my ticket. She also found half of my food as the other half was already being prepared. There was also a misunderstanding on the amount of pizza pies I wanted and I was overcharged. I politely pointed out to the woman at the pick-up area that I was charged too much money. She very nastily said it was my error and that she shouldn’t have taken my «fucking order» in the first place. I apologized and said that I didn’t care who’s error it was(although I knew it was hers) and asked her to fix it. She made me stand there for 20 more minutes only to come back and say it couldn’t be fixed. All I needed her to do was credit me the money back that I was due. Finally someone else was able to do it for me. The whole time I was standing there, the woman kept passing comments how I messed this up. And all along I just wanted to be charged for what I was purchasing. There were a few other customers who witnessed what was happening. They told me this wasn’t the first time they’ve seen behavior such as this. Finally, after being there for 45 minutes, I took my cold soggy food to my family. I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND this place to anyone.

So there are two Oceanviews — the«lounge» next door which is more like a pub, and the restaurant next door which has a slightly more upscale vibe. You can get everything from the restaurant at the lounge(the waitress will bring both menus), so if you want something more akin to a sports bar experience(there are at least 3 TVs on all of which are tuned to the Red Sox), go to the lounge. The big draw here is Wednesday lobster night — pretty much everyone in the lounge last Wednesday was cracking their reasonably priced lobsters(served with your choice of fries, baked potato, or rice, and with the house veggie). I probably wouldn’t go here for anything but lobster night– it reminds me(for Bostonians) of eating at a pub in Malden.

I really liked Hooked — to be fair, we only stopped there for their Oyster Happy Hour they have every day during the summer. We were served super quickly, all the waiters were very nice and the oysters were very fresh — and for $ 1/piece, you really can’t complain.

Went to the lounge for pizza and an appetizer with my wife. The calamari was very good, it tasted fresh and the pizza was decent for Martha’s Vineyard. The service was good and the atmosphere nice. This would be a great place to watch a game. I’d call this a great local bar with pretty good food. Prices are«Vineyard Reasonable»

My party walked in the Tavern entrance when we first arrived and were rather confused as to where they’d put us! Then we were told to go through the doors to the restaurant part. Aha! I had made a reservation here for 17 – 21 people on a Friday night. Marilyn worked with me over the phone to setup the reservation, but when I called back to confirm, told me she couldn’t guarantee we’d be seated all at the same table. When we arrived, we had 2 long tables next to each other, which was fine. When 4 people didn’t show(they were tentative), I asked if we could move the other 7 so we’d all be at 1 table, but unfortunately we couldn’t, as it would be blocking the doors from the Tavern to the bathroom. Understandable, but a bummer. The waitress was a bit snippy in the beginning — apparently when asked if we could do separate checks, she flat-out said no. But in the end, we got separate checks… I ended up getting the special soup — a Beef Curry, which was great. Light & flavorful with a hint of spice, but not overly spicy(I didn’t actually taste any curry). For my main entrée, I went with the Greek salad, which was great(although I had asked for no olives, and it came with a TON of olives). The salads were huge and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The rolls were ok — decent, but fell flat after the ones from the Chowder Company the night before!

As an Islander, I do look for a staple restaurant around here that is open year-round. The oceanview has kind of grown to be it. One of my favorite things is the salad bar here. No where else on the island can you get a salad bar. It isn’t a gormet salad bar. Some people were complaining about it. You get the usual as you would at any restaraunt but it is nice that they offer it. Sadly, they are renovating right now or maybe just close it for the winter so it hasn’t been open this winter. I have tried a variety of meals here from seafood to pasta to the prime rib. I do love their seafood pasta and the cod picatta. Its so good! I have never got a piece of seafood here that is overcooked. My fiancé and I love going to their special nights– Wednesday and Saturday. Wed is lobster night and Saturday is prime rib night. One note, DO make a reservation and DO call before you go there. They run out of the prime rib so fast and we usually go there just for that. We had to wait an hour last time we went for them to cook another prime rib. It was worth the wait or maybe it was just that we were so hungry by then. I love their blue cheese dressing here too! its so good, I believe its homemade. Older waiters and waitress are extremely fast and friendly and always attentive. I have been off and on with getting good service here since they hired some new people. In fact, the last few times I have been I really have had awful service. Its a little disappointing. Portions are always large also so don’t go unless you are very hungry!

It was our first time on the Vineyard and we had a group of 11 including 7 teenagers. We were looking for a low key, family friendly place where we could unwind and have some fun. Well, we hit the jackpot! The food was great(lobster, surf & turf, salad bar, burgers, etc) and the service was fabulous, from the hostess to our waitress. We had a memorable night that our kids will talk about for years to come! I highly recommend it and we will be back next time we are in the Vineyard.

Friday’s pay day and that’s when it gets wild and crazy here at the Ocean View. Starting at just before 5, it fills up quickly with islanders intent on starting the weekend right. Congregate on the pub side with your hard working neighbors, and you’ll jump start your weekend with the right kind of island energy. You won’t get the most inventive food here, and I find the salad bar as darkly depressing as the one I encountered every day in my college cafeteria. Despite it all, you’ll get an affordable, decent meal and be able to watch the Patriots or the Red Sox destroy their competition. Parking is easy and the staff is adorable. Perks for staying open year round, too. It’s not gourmet. But it’s the island.

Definitely a change from the busy, expensive restaurants in Oak Bluffs, the Ocean View seems to be where the ‘real people’ eat. Service was very good– our server was always pleasant and smiling, and she took care of everything we needed quickly. The salad bar was… well, it was a salad bar. The prime rib was excellent, with the accompanying baked potato(for me) and roasted potatoes(for him) were perfect additions. Dessert was surprisingly good– both the carrot cake and peanut butter pie/cake were homemade and delicious. Bill for 2 people for dinner & dessert with tax/tip was about $ 85(no drinks). Definitely reasonably priced, and great food for the money.

Every year I come to M.V., I always make it a point to stop by here for their prime rib and lobster tails(mostly for the prime rib). The restaurant is across Lagoon Pond from Oak Bluffs so it doesn’t get all the touristy traffic. The ambiance is a nice low-key, relaxing atmosphere. At least until Friday and Saturday nights, which tend to get a little crowded and noisy at the bar. The service is good and responsive. The forte here is pretty much the prime rib. They cut a nice thick prime rib that is excellently prepared. The end cuts are the best, so if it’s available, GETIT. Order one of the brown ale on tap and you’ve got yourself a near perfect dinner without breaking the bank like at most top-end steakhouses.
