I’m not gonna lie. The first time I went to this place, it looked like sketch ville USA. I was a little weary of this little Magazine St. market, but my friend told me that the food is really good, so I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. They have a lot of «take out» type of food and I decided that the hot sausage po boy was as good as anything to try. For just under $ 10, it was a real deal for the size. After I got it home, I was blown away at how good it was! It was packed with sausage and had a lot of flavor. It ALMOST tasted as if I had ordered it from a real po boy place. I highly recommend this weird little convenience store that makes good sandwiches.

Outside of La Petit you are likely to find men in suits stopping traffic so their dress clad dates can cross the street without having to hustle. Directly across the street you are more likely to find a bunch of old men chatting it up and possible sipping out of brown bags. Vicky’s is one of those seemingly sketchy but wonderful places where you can get get cheap but good food(we’re talking a hot sausage sandwich, fries, and a drink for under $ 3.50), snacks, and any drinks you might need. The food is probably not as good as La Petit, but I wouldn’t know for sure since I generally don’t spend more than $ 40 for lunch. I also highly doubt that La Petit has hardboiled eggs sitting on the counter next to the cash register*. I suppose this is proof that money can’t buy you everything. Pro-tip: I know what you are thinking and the answer is YES — you can get Tahitian Treat with your meal!!! *note: not that you should be eating eggs that have been sitting out all day, but it’s nice to have options available

I LOVETHEIR po-boys, chicken, fried rice! They have candy, sodas, beer, chips, and all that good stuff. Good through mardi gras! Convenient since it’s on magazine street so you can just walk down to magazine street before the parade starts to grab some hot food since it’s cold outside!
