$ 15 glass(shot — before tax/tip) of Glennfidich 12… Everything wrong with hotel bars. $ 30 bottle of liquor. A joke.

Take a couple steps with your drink(or depending on who your with, drunk) to the 11th floor lobby of the Westin. The view overlooks the mighty Mississippi and French Quarter; it’s a magical sight day or night. The ambiance is nice-hotel-lobby boring, but the aroma is also boring(a significant plus that you’ll appreciate after spending any time in French Quarter).

Simple and easy place to relax without leaving hotel. What you would expect and the service was good.

«Green Bar» actually in a very large spacious area of one of the upper floors of the hotel part of this great building. Although named a «Bar», there is an excellent kitchen, which has limited selections, but excellent quality offerings. This is one of the best«under-rated» places in town. Tips: 1) Park IN the hotel bldg., not across the side street. 2) One must ask to be seated and served in the spacious well-furnished«sitting area» between the bar proper and those giant picture windows which allow day & night views of the traffic on «Old Man River» and goings-on in the riverside part of the French Quarter. 3) Try to avoid«convention crowds». This place has the best«views» in our City. Ayer les Bontemps, mes Amis ! Rick

The bar is located inside the Westin hotel on the 11th floor in between the canal place elevators and the hotel guest elevators. It’s very dark, and the bar is a very big dramatic marble, it reminds me of 60’s gangster décor, black walls, gold and dark marble. There are tv’s and a window to see the city skyline/harrahs casino. Our bartender was friendly, but we stopped down for a drink and a bite to eat before seeing a night night movie and the bar inside the theatre turned out to be much better. We ordered wine and a cocktail, plus two apps. The fish tacos were extremely plain, maybe could use some cilantro, very unimpressed, and the blue crab beignets were very hard and dark on the outside, and needed a kick, some sort of seasoning to make it more interesting.

Pricey hotel bar. But the cocktails are very good(I assume, I don’t drink a lot of cocktails) the amaretto sour was really good, it became my drink of choice on this trip and of the several places I tried it this was the best.

It’s in the hotel we stayed at while in New Orleans, so we visited a couple times. The boudin balls were delicious. The crawfish nachos were… not delicious. The specialty drinks I got were very good. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but it was in our hotel so it was convenient.

I have to give up trying to make this place work for me. The Green Bar now is the only place to order food in the hotel in the evening and at night. And I attempted to do just that. This is what happened to me when I ordered a burger. The burger comes with fries. I requested a substitution for the fries. After being told a salad could replace the fries I ordered my burger with a salad. The food was good and I enjoyed the salad too. The bill was presented and I was charged an additional $ 6.00 for the salad. And I was not brought the fries. So I had to pay full price for the burger that comes with fries, extra for the salad that replaced the fries, and did not get the fries. RIPOFF! A complaint to the server met with the explanation that it is corporate policy to charge for a substitution. That is fine but you would think that the fries that are also being charged for are delivered. Bye Bye!!!

A decent bar to stop by for a drink on your way in or out of the Westin hotel. I often stop by for a nightcap. They also serve food and have a great Cobb salad.

A little pricey, but the bartenders provided great service and shined through with their own(non-menu) cocktails. The bar has a nice, jazzy feel to it; it’s pretty dark(hard reading the menu) but I found it to be enticing and inviting at the same time. 5 stars for the friendly staff and good drinks, in addition to the beautiful view out in the lobby. Definitely worth checking out– even if you live in the city.

I have been here twice and both times I left unimpressed(and I’m very easy to please). The first time I came here was in Jan 2012 for the Unilocaly awards. Of course a large group of us went to the bar after the awards party and the bartenders there just couldn’t keep up with the crowd. The second time I came here was this past weekend and the bar was pretty crowded for a hotel bar(about 40ppl). It took us a very long time to get our drinks as the two bartenders working were overwhelmed. Now 40 ppl at a bar shouldn’t cause bartenders to panic or cause big delays with service but it does here. The bartenders had no personality too. The atmosphere here is pretty lame IMO. Nothing fun or interesting happens here. This is a bar I wouldn’t come back to on a regular basis.

Great view, overpriced drinks. But it’s a hotel lobby bar, so what are you expecting really? Furthermore, it’s located in the Westin on the 11th floor, so unless you’re staying there or meeting someone who is, you have no business going up here for a drink. Seriously, you’re in New Orleans. Why would you go out of your way to grab a drink at the hotel lobby bar in the Westin!!! Having said that though, I think as a tourist it might be well worth your time to come up to the Green Bar, not for a drink, but to take in the view. I think it’s not something many tourists know about, and to be honest, not many locals either. I mean, who would think there would even be a view? And yet, there is. Of course, it’s not like looking off the Hancock building in Chicago, but there’s a nice view nonetheless. Oh, and clean public bathrooms!

It’s really difficult to write this review and try to be subjective. While I take full responsibility for my stupid actions, I don’t like being scolded like a child after I paid for my actions and gave a 15% tip. It should of been all good for everyone at this point but there was just too much animosity. I like the Westin Hotel chain and I will stay in the hotels(if they don’t black-list me; please don’t) but I don’t think I will be going to this hotel bar anytime soon. There are cheaper and local places to pre-game.

The Green Bar is better in theory than reality. Hotel bars are always hit or miss. This location had potential, but failed to deliver. Located inside the Westin Canal Place, this bar has great views of the river and city. The bar is dark and has a cool, laid back vibe. The problem is that the service was very slow to the point of frustration. Only one bartender was working so it took forever to get drinks. The bartender seemed stressed and wasn’t friendly when serving drinks. I am sure this was due to him being overwhelmed, but it didn’t endear me to the bar. I don’t know if I would ever come back, but it isn’t likely. There are too many other great bars in walking distance.

A lot of fluff for what is basically a typical hotel bar. The only really redeeming quality of the place was the view of the city. Drinks were overpriced and the over all attitude of the place wasn’t very welcoming. The only reason to go here would be if you are a man who wants a beer while you wait for your date to finish getting ready up in the room. I would have no reason to ever go back here. If you’re visiting New Orleans, venture out and go see the more friendly places that our city has to offer.

This is a relatively small bar by New Orleans hotel bar standards. It reminds me much more of a restaurant’s side bar than the main bar of a large hotel. The Green Bar(I think I would rename it the Green Room as it is really more the size of a large room) is pleasantly appointed in dark wood and green colors so hence the name. Due to its location and size, I would see this spot as catering mainly to the tourist crowd that would be staying in the Westin. I imagine this might also work as a more intimate and private location for a small party or event as well.

Nice hotel lounge, someplace to hang out if you are staying there. I liked the more intimate sofa and lounge chair area in the back of the bar. Depending on where you sat, you could people watch, or view the TV, or ignore everyone and pay attention to your companion. Almost like you were at home. The chairs at the bar did look more comfortable than usual. There was plenty of room in the bar area and what looked like a small dining area to one side. Chatted with some of the Unilocalers who hung out in the back.(Chance, the Newcastle draft wasn’t one of the specials and it was $ 5.)

Well I can’t give this place 3 stars like the other people for a few reasons. While this place was nice for the after party, it was mainly nice because it was right across the damn hall. That is about the only«nice» thing about it. The bartender wasn’t that engaging at all, apparently he had some problems with Josh’s champagne, and he was not the best at doing the whole, «You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.» bit. The drinks were decent because we had the«special» of $ 3 beers and $ 5 martinis. If we didn’t have that, I do wonder how much a beer would cost. The dive bars I frequent usually have them normally for $ 3. So I’m thinking it may be closer to $ 5 for a Bud Light or something. That is nuts, but what can you expect from a hotel bar. Like Jane, I have no reason to go back. I’m positive that the only reason it has 2⁄5 opposed to 1⁄5 is because of the awesome Unilocal community that was in the place. Without that, this place would be pure hell.

High-priced hotel bar. Dark and expensive-looking. Cool view of the city. I will probably never end up at this place again, because why would I? If you really wanted to go to The Green Room, you’d have to park at Canal Place, then go way up to the top, then pay lots of money for drinks… I mean, I guess it’s an OK place if you’re already there, but I can’t see putting in the time and effort to make a special trip.

Solid intimate(but not too small) hotel bar. The décor was welcoming and fancy which is a difficult combination to pull off, I think. The bartenders weren’t super personable but did a good job handling the deluge of Unilocalers that descended on them on Saturday night. The prices were high, even for a hotel bar.
