When I arrived at 7 on a Thursday we were the only ppl until around 9 and it got busy. Sexy, dark, modern atmosphere with couches. Mixed drinks little pricey at 14

Fancy environment, but nothing fancy about the drinks. Quiet crowd though and a nice dark setting. I’d probably go back.

This is a nice lounge spot. However, I do think it’s a bit overpriced with $ 14 strawberry mojitos. But I realize it’s in a hotel, the W no less, and is downtown. The space is nice, maybe a little too darkly lit but has a good mix of high tables and stools and lounge chairs and couches. It looks to be a mixed crowd so should appeal to a wide range. I was with a large group and we were well taken care so the service is a plus. If you’re hungry I wouldn’t come here to eat. Like the drinks, I think the food is overpriced. My quesadilla was okay. My friend had the flatbread pizza and really enjoyed it. Overall, the vibe was cool and relaxed. Just don’t come here if you’re looking to drink cheaply.

Meh sums it up. It’s modern and flashy décor is nice, but there was never much of a crowd and most of the time there was only one bartender. The night of the Sugar Bowl when it was super crowded, it was extremely short staffed and it was hard to get a drink. They should have known there would be a crowd that night… If you are staying here at the W, it’s a nice place to grab a drink with your friends before you head out, even better that my man can go have a cocktail while I finish getting ready. That being said I would never go out of my way to go here. Don’t walk over here just to check out this bar, it’s nothing special.

Decent bar, nice dark lounge, especially if you can find space on the couches. Music on the night we were there was pretty good. Great hotel bar, typical of W style.

I think this is the only bar I didn’t really like in New Orleans. But it was our first drink and we were desperate. Overpriced drinks and not as comfortable an environment as it could be. Couches in the back were«reserved» even though the place was half empty.

I came here recently thinking I was going to like it. Wrong. If you want to get hit on by some stupid older guys wearing too strong cologne, then by all means come here. Not to mention, the drinks are way too expensive. $ 14!!! Are you kidding me?! This is New Orleans, not Miami. I can buy 3 drinks at any other bar for the price of that one! Even though the drink was good, it wasn’t worth $ 14. At most, I would say $ 9, and I’ve had better $ 9 drinks. Plus, they don’t make your drink on the spot. They pre-make it and just pour it in a glass. I feel like if I’m paying $ 14 for a drink, I want to see it being made since I’m paying for the«craft» cocktail aspect of it. The bartender was friendly though so I give her half a star and the atmosphere was nice so that deserves the other half star. Other than that, I will not come back to this place. New Orleans has way too many good, fun bars that are cheap and where you can have conversations with interesting people, not guys who stare at you too intently and smell like they took a bath in a bottle of cologne.

Drinks were expensive and inconsistent. My first one was amazing, and then they weren’t as good. The crowd was totally douchy. I was looking for a quieter place where me and my companions could talk but no such luck. Bad bar.

My favorite place to drink, expensive(14 dollar Martinis), but hard to stop so bring your credit card! Plus the W hotel lounge has great food if you get hungry, but its not open late, so jump on it! The staff is okay for the most part, but in my experience I’ve been ignored a lot and it takes awhile to get my drinks, even when they aren’t super slammed. Also it’s one of the few nice bars that you can still smoke in if that’s your thing. The pear martini or Bellini is always my faves!

One of the most modern, hip, trendy, and contemporary hotels you’ll ever see. I’ve never slept here, but I’ve visited the lobby and the Whiskey Blue bar. Very nice place! Very dark and intimate. The last time I visited house music was being played. Since that isn’t my favorite genre of music I don’t frequent here. The ambiance is nice. This is a good place if you want to drink alone or hang with friends.

They like blue lights in here a lot! I’ve never really had a good time here. This is a hotel bar that is attempting to be upscale but with more of a modern and hip vibe but comes off as more of a techno nightclub. People«dress up» to hang out in here typically but they do it in a bit of a cheesy way for the guys and the girls often seem to wear overly tight and too spandexy dresses. The demographic looks very similar to what you find in the Metropolitan nightclub and most of these people appear to be coming in from the area suburbs or tourists. It just isn’t my scene and I don’t really know anybody that hangs out here.

Whiskey Blue is a nice little«fancy pants» hotel bar. I would say it’s a good place to start the night. When you walk in, it’s very dark and the only real light is the blue lights coming from behind the bar and the dim lights in the seating areas. It feels more like a «mini club» than a bar. The reason I say that it is probably best to start a night here is because it does tend to get pretty packed and the last time I was here, the music the DJ was playing was ridiculously loud(hey you kids, get off my lawn!). The drinks aren’t all that expensive, but they probably cost a little more than they would at an average bar. A nice place to get started, but I would recommend continuing your evening elsewhere.

Heard someone describe this as «chic and nocturnal» which pretty much sums it up. Blue velvet lounges, dark sleek wood, deep blue atmosphere but not pretentious at all, unique concoctions. My friends had the special raspberry martini(with a dash of champagne) and the raspberry with muddled herbs vodka cocktails which were amazing! I don’t normally care for sweet drinks and I’m a whiskey and gin girl so I preferred the grapefruit/basil/gin martini. And I have to add that the dirty martini was perfectly ripe. Nothing negative to say here. Highly recommend it for a mellow weeknight or a place for drinks and conversation.

To me, this bar is just ‘okay’. It’s hip, flashy, trendy, modern; you’ll find a lot of guys in here that have spent more time on their hair than their dates. Not that that’s a bad thing… or is it? Anyway, If you’re already staying in this hotel, it’s easy to come downstairs and partake of the atmosphere. If you’re quite a ways away, I’m not sure it’s worth the travel. The bartenders and waitresses are kind enough so don’t get me wrong there. I just find the place to be hit or miss. Sometimes it’s really busy in here when it’s still early in the evening and on other nights, there are tumbleweeds rolling through the doorway. Too streaky for me. The joint is always very clean and if they are not busy, the staff are attentive. Bathrooms are clean, too, which is a big plus for me. Aside from the bar’s streaky customer attendance record, the only other concern I feel is worth voicing is the volume of the music. They usually have a DJ set up in the corner when you first walk in and I think they are using amplified JBLEON speakers, which will destroy eardrums in close proximity. Trouble is, the bar is small and these speakers have a loud voice. They need to turn the volume down. I think they lose customers when they can’t even hear their friends speaking, who happen to be seated right beside them. If you’re in the area, drop in and check it out. If you’re not nearby, find something else in your neighborhood. There will be other times to scope out Whiskey Blue.

Whiskey Blue is dressy, classy, expensive and makes good cocktails. There is easy listening music in the background and lounge chairs that can be uncomfortable to sit on because they are so uncomfortable. It’s a great place to chill, to talk, to get to know someone new and to watch sleazy guys attempt to get their«escorts» drunk and take them upstairs to a room. Yuck. I hear they have good mojitos so I will have to go again to try them out.

I wouldn’t say i’m a fan of this place, however if I have friends going there… it can be a fun place to go and hang out. If you are lookin to just hang around and have a couple drinks at a «swanky» bar then this might be the place for you. I do wish that there would be atleast one more bartender on the job. It seems I wait 10 minutes everytime i’m trying to get a drink. If i’m gonna pay 8 bucks for a jack and coke… can i get it a little quicker? For guys, it seems like it wouldn’t be a bad place to take a date for drinks on slower nights like a weekday. In the end, its all about preference.

I went to an event here tonight. Its always been one of my favorite hotel bars so of course I enjoyed. The staff friendly as always. Bartender talked to me the whole night and telling me all the great things about the cocktails and how he made them, even made the drinks extra pretty and styled it for me to take pictures for a blog I wanted to write lol. Can’t get better than that. They make amazing Chambord Vodka cocktails. You definitely need to give them a try. The appetizers flowing through out the room was yummy, mini muffalettas and shish kabobs that definitely kept me just the right amount of full until I left the party. The music was actually great. Everytime I go to something here, there is always music I know all the words to that I didn’t hear in a long time, its almost like they are saying, Shercole you are awesome and I want you to hear some cool songs you use to like. I guess they can be a bit pricey here, but I like them. Parking in the area can really such, especially when movies decide to film and put no parking signs on all streets surrounding. So it can be pain. There is a lot across the street that is like $ 10 for a few hours or if you like hotel parking… hey go for it if you want to spend like $ 20 or so. If you are lucky you usually can find street parking on the opposite side of the street after 6:45pm to be exact.

Given that its situated in the W Hotel, of course Whiskey Blue is more upscale and lounge-y than the usual New Orleans haunts. And the prices reflect as such. The venue is extremely dark, barely lit — with a couple of massive photos prints mounted on the wall. There are a couple of corners with comfy chairs and coffee tables, but these are«reserved» often times. My girlfriends and I usually found ourselves at the center elongated table with stools. As far as noise factor goes, it depends whether there’s a DJ doing his thing — usually on the weekends. Otherwise this is a «loud» lounge, but it’s not intolerable. The well-dressed patrons usually do keep to themselves. This place is probably best suited for smaller groups due to its limited capacity. The specialty cocktails here are quite delicious. I can honestly say I’ve never had one I didn’t like, but they aren’t cheap. Any drink here won’t be a bargain, let’s just say, but it’s all quality stuff. I want to give Whiskey Blue four stars, but it never made too much of an impression. I wouldn’t hesitate coming back here again, but it’s definitely not a huge priority.

Sometimes you have to just suit up, spend some money and act a little classy. Plus it’s right across the street from a greasy awesome Po Boy shop! Whiskey Blue is a W hotel bar, now I’m not a fan of the W hotel but this bar is very nice. Couches, tables, stools, Flat screens, beautiful bar, tea cup lights, and blue everywhere(which actually works very well). The servers and bartenders are extremely attractive which I’m sure helps business. All I have to say it watch out, it seems like this is a hunting ground for cougars and older business men. These two ladies were tearing my clothes off with their eyes! Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the madness of the Bourbon street, I recommend stopping by for a drink, bring your wallet, you’ll need it.
