Since I usually go to the *other* Surrey’s and it’s usually packed, I decided to check this one out instead. Although there was a wait, we didn’t wait for nearly as long and the«half hour» estimate they gave us turned out to be only 10 minutes. We were seated inside and we were waited on and served pretty quickly, because they are eager to get people in and out on a busy Sunday. Of course, I got my favorite– shrimp and grits. I am not lying when I say that the shrimp and grits here might be my favorite in the city. They are just so perfectly creamy and good, and the croutons and bacon that the dish comes with are a perfect touch. I finished the entire bowl of this delicious goodness and I am excited to go back for more. I think I would eat this for breakfast every day, if I could. Let’s just say it’s good that I don’t live closer to Surrey’s. Just a note: they didn’t have the AC on when we went, so it was quite warm. Just be aware of that if you decide to eat here during the summer.

Surrey’s in New Orleans on Magazine St. Service was slow to begin with but sped up later on. Bananas foster is amazing! French bread filled with a banana cream filling topped a rum sauce Crawfish omelet special was amazing! Eggs cooked to perfection filled with large avocado chunks and Brie cheese. Burrito was decent, «but I wouldn’t order it again. There are just more things on the menu that taste better» Took a while to get the check and to place order Busy inside. You can tell that the locals love this place A bit tight if you are coming with a larger party The temperature was hot with the fans off. They could have turn them on to circulate the air since it was raining outside and the doors were closed. CoFfee is high quality. I could drink this coffee all day and there are free refills… Yesssss Juice is over priced. I would personally stick to the food.

MOREREASONSTOLOVESURREY’S: 1. «El Yucateco Green Habanero Sauce»(pic): hard to find locally, imported from Mexico, thick hot and smokey. Great on migas or anything Tex-Mex…Heck I eat it on pain perdu!*** 2. State Street Coffee: locally ground and roasted, richly smooth and worthy of a third cup. 3. Their corn tortillas: Surrey’s must conjure some form of prestidigitation to toast the edges — which keeps them from crumbling — yet maintain their flavorful soft moistness(see pic). ***“El Yucateco Green Habanero” posts an impressive 5-star average from over 50 reviewers on Amazon(where you can buy 4 bottles of this rare elixir for about $ 15).

Yay! It was open on Memorial Day! We had breakfast about 10AM — sat outside on the front porch. Food was really good– decaf coffee, not so much. By the time we left an hour later the line stretched down the sidewalk.

I live right across the street from Surreys Uptown and find myself grabbing breakfast here often. They don’t take reservations and are insanely popular on the weekends so get here early if you don’t want to wait! The food is so delicious. I love the Costa Rican breakfast, Tofu scramble, and lox scramble! My boyfriends favorite dish in the whole city is their banana foster French toast. I’ve never had a bad meal here and they have many vegetarian and gluten free options. They don’t serve booze but you can BYOB and add it to their fresh squeezed juice which is always the best move, and it’s cheaper! I love this place and highly recommend it!

Took my mother here for Mother’s Day present. I was greeted my the friendly host Reyan. Later Kia came to the table and greeted us with a huge smile and big Good Morning, and helped us picked out our drinks. I went with the Carrot and Apple and my Mom just decided on the Lemonade with the shot of Strawberry. Both was very refreshing. I ordered the Crawfish Omelet and my Mom had the Shrimp and Grits. The Crawfish Omelet was too die for. I believe the Shrimp and Grits was good because my Mom didn’t let me sample any and when she took her last bite she nodded her head in agreement. And before the check came asked me when we are coming back. Our experience was wonderful. Only down side was Kia was not our server. Phoenix ended up being our server. And she was great, PLEASE don’t get me wrong, but Kia’s smile was just that spectacular, I needed to see it more then twice. Definitely coming back. Maybe won’t bring my Mom again until she learns how to share her food. Might try to invite Kia to join me if only I knew her off days. She looks like she know how to share her food. ;-)

The bananas foster French toast is hands down the best breakfast I’ve ever had, and I don’t even like sweet breakfasts! Just do yourself a favor and order it. I came here for the first time over 2 years ago and still dream about this dish from all the way on the west coast :(I’ve had several friends visit Nola in the meantime, and I’ve sent all of them here so I know it’s still as good as ever. I’ve also tried the crab omelette which is amazing as well. It’s a shame that a $ 400 plane ticket separates me from Surrey, otherwise I’d try the whole menu!

I’ve been to the original Surrey’s so when I saw there was one close to the area we were staying at, I had to bring my cousin to my favorite French toast restaurant. I feel like this restaurant is smaller than the original one but maybe it was because they closed off the patio due to the bad rainy weather. Because of the weather, we were able to walk in right away without waiting in line. We ordered the shrimp and grits and of course, the banana foster French toast. I never really like grits but hands down, Surrey’s has the best shrimp and grits. If you’re in the mood for a savorier dish, get this. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, get the French toast. You can’t go wrong with either dish. Top it off with juice or coffee and your morning will be complete. Just come here and check it out yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

Surrey-ously, I am in LOVE with Surreys Uptown! I’m a brunch addict and Surreys fulfills all of my cravings! Their shrimp and grits are one of the best, if not the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! The bacon, the bread, the shrimp, the grits, and the sauce all add up to a conglomeration of flavors that do wonders in your mouth! They also have amazing egg sandwiches, which you can have on house made bagels, croissants, or regular bread, with your choice of meat(go for the ham, it’s huge!), loaded with cheese, and served with eggs any style! I’ve also had the corned beef hash, the migas breakfast, and the boudin breakfast! Everything tastes good! You can’t really go wrong here. Three«Pro tips» that may come in handy though: 1.) Go for a date or something with a party of 2, when you try to get a table, you’ll be seated almost immediately! Parties of 3 or more are more difficult to seat, and you may have to wait a while. 2.) Don’t be deterred if you see a bunch of people waiting outside of Surreys! You don’t know what they’re there for, just go up to the hostess and see when you can be seated. Like really, I’ve gone and was seated immediately despite there being at least 10 people loitering in front. 3.) Check the price of that OJ before you reflexively order it… Juice at Surreys is freshly squeezed, and comes with an up charge… One glass will set you back about $ 5.

There are many delicious brunch places in New Orleans, but Surrey’s just is the best. Friendly staff, endless coffee, delicious food, affordable prices. Today I got the Migas with chorizo while my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich. Big portions and I cannot stress how delicious and warm our food was. We loved it so much that we had to get the bacon bread pudding, which was a special but seriously needs to be a fixed menu item. It was the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth. Ever. My boyfriend is now in love with this place and I’m sure we’ll be coming back frequently. But seriously get the bacon bread pudding, you will die of happiness.

This spot is right up the road from where we are staying. We decided to come here because of the awesome reviews. YES there was a pretty long wait and YES they screwed up our seating arrangement BUT the hostess was very apologetic and fixed the mix up right away. The staff is all very friendly and the atmosphere is fun. I ate the shrimp and grits breakfast meal. It was delicious. The next store bar is where you purchase your alcohol or its BYO. I purchased 2 bloody Mary’s and they were also delicious.(see photo)

The original Surrey is hella popular with a wait of probably an hour just to get a table. My friend told me it is basically a tourist trap, but that this Uptown location is just as great and has the same great tasting food. We only waited like 10 minutes for a table on a Saturday for brunch. There is some outdoor patio seating and then some seating inside the house. It was a bit chilly that day so we sat on the porch. There are so many food options ranging from eggs, grits, beer, burritos, pancakes and what not. I had to get the Shrimp and Grits which were amazing. A unique BBQ sauce with the shrimp paired nicely with the grits. The consistency of the grits were not too runny and definitely not dry. They know their food and for the variety it is on point. My cup of coffee was also refilled constantly and smiles all around. A great southern brunch place and great prices as well.

First off let me say breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. That being said, there isn’t a single thing off this menu I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve had their signature dishes and they have my favorite shrimp and grits in the city. But recently I’ve been hooked on the banana fosters French toast. It brought one of my out of town friends to tears she was so happy. If you’re hungover go with the Montana plate it has eggs, bacon, ham, sausage and grits/home fries. This place is amazing get there early on Weekends or holidays or prepare to wait.

Food was awesome, BUT, they’re lucky we’re giving them a 3. Why??? Wait time and service. In summary: Food: 5+ Service: 2.5 Wait time: 0(40 minutes for food to arrive) We did get seated quickly on a Monday around noon. We placed our order, and couldn’t wait for it to come. 20 minutes go by. Hmmm, foot thump, foot thump, foot thump, foot thump. 30 minutes go by. Wow, these guys are slow 40 minutes go by. ‘Excuse me waitress, is our food almost ready?’ Sure enough, she brings it over right then. We weren’t alone. Most other people were also waiting forever. So, why 2 or 3 stars? 1. While we waited, none of the wait staff ever made eye contact with us. Our waitress would always ignore us the many times she passed by. She was very friendly when she spoke with us, but come on, don’t ignore your customers… 2. The busser dude serving coffee walked around a lot with coffee, but never came by our table offering refills. It was only after I stopped him a couple of times that he refilled. WTF??? As far as the food: OUTSTANDING! I had shrimp and grits. WOW! This is the place to get them(if they were faster). Savory, flavorful, and right texture. Loved it! Wife had the humongous pancake with bananas and pecans. She didn’t care for it as much(mainly because she doesn’t like the size), but the bites I took were phenomenal. I specifically loved the outside parts, which were crunchy and flavorful. It kind of reminded me of a funnel cake. Awesome food if you are on tropics time and are in no rush!

GETTHEREEARLY! Unless you want an hour + wait I recommend getting there before 11AM. I’ve driven up to Surrey’s many times on Saturday afternoons and seen a large group of people standing outside and just kept on driving. I had the Banana Fosters French Toast and they were pretty damn good. You have to be in the mood for something sweet but they are something I highly recommend. They use thick cuts of french bread to make the the french toast. They are dog friendly if you’re ok with sitting outside or on the patio. Definitely somewhere I’ll be going again.

Love love love this place. We had been to the other Surrey’s and decided to see if this place is the same. I love the inside! It’s roomier. We sat at the breakfast bar! I had banana fosters french toast! Delicious! I always get my sauces on the side so I don’t eat soggy bread! They use the french bread to make the french toast and inside the french toast has banana purée! It was delicious indeed. I also tried their homemade juices, apple juice with ginger juice added. Talk about sweet and spicy. I wanted something with low acidity b/c my tummy had to recover from issues during the week. Ginger helps sooth my tummy! My apple juice was just as delicious with or with ginger added. I got my ice cup on the side to add my juice to it. Hubby tried the smoked turkey and avocado sandwich! it was yummy. The wheat bread was toasted… not too much mayo on the sandwich but best part is the avocado. The potato salad was more mayo based but did have a cajun kick to it. I also had an order of home fries which was delicious with my ketchup! Overall, I would definitely come back! maybe earlier during the morning before the crown and tourist arrives or during the week when there may be a smaller crowd!

Everything about our breakfast was amazing! We started out with juice. I ordered orange, carrot, and ginger. My husband ordered the watermelon limeade. Tasty and refreshing! Cheaper than whole foods too! For breakfast I ordered scrambled duck eggs with rye toast and a cup of fruit. Amazing! I’ve never had the option of substituting my eggs for duck eggs before. The eggs were rich and have more flavor than chicken eggs. I also think they slightly poach them before scrambling them because the texture of the white part of the eggs where almost as if they were boiled. They were incredible! My husband ordered the crab omelette and that was also amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was smothered in the perfect ratio of a delicious crab gravy. I never would have thought to put Brie in an omelette. I wish more restaurants offered it. Our meals were perfect. The only reason I’m giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because it took over a half an hour to get our orders. It was certainly worth the wait

3.5! What a yummy brunch spot! I’m always a little wary of places that are cash only… but at least they have an ATM in their restaurant… that charges a $ 3 or so fee. Aside from that(and not serving alcohol… which blows my mind, especially in New Orleans), the rest of the experience(especially the food) was incredible! And they let me substitute one of my side items since I don’t do carbs. I love it when places will accommodate your diet. I had the salmon and cream cheese omelette(I added avocado too) with a side of bacon… phenomenal! Seriously delicious and I’m salivating just thinking about it… I would totally give them 5 stars if they took credit cards and served alcohol. Those are just two too important things in my book for a brunch place.
