Staff was very friendly! Ask for Peggy! She was great! Food was good but the service was a bit slow for our group of 4.

This is now become one of our favorite places! The food was perfectly amazing and the atmosphere was fun. We shared the ableskivers, which was perfectly prepared & paired with lemon curd. I have made these many times and had never thought about serving it with lemon curd, I will be confiscating that one. I also had the salmon & cream cheese on toast. I had over easy eggs instead of scrambled and it was one of the best things I’ve eaten down here. My husband had the quiche of the day which was caramelized onion, goat cheese, & mushroom and it was very good. He also had the prosciutto with ricotta on toast and it was also very good. We will be back next time we are in town! This place is a keeper & I don’t find many five star restaurants in our outings.

Can’t believe it took me over a year to get back over here. SHAME. My pops and I went this past Saturday, and again a handful of folks were on the waiting list, but fortunately for us, there were two seats at the bar, AGAIN! Peggy was our wonderful waitress, who was extremely attentive and very pleasant. I totally should’ve checked my review because I ordered the same thing as before, the brie and prosciutto crêpe, and again, it was perfectly savory and filled to the max with prosciutto! We did get the half order of Aebelskivers, delicious balls of doughy goodness. And no meal is complete without an order of their bacon, quite possibly the best side of bacon in town. No booze, but again, I’m okay with this considering their food is so great, the service is wonderful, and the restaurant itself is so dang cute. If you are with a bigger group, expect a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. And if you’re like me, and come with your pops, check to see if you can belly up to the bar!

Hole-in-the-wall type place in the Garden District area of NOLA. Small, and constantly busy, even on a Monday morning, but I love the look and feel of the place. Plus, they have the most delicious crepes I’ve ever had. Prosciutto and Brie, be still my heart. Also aebleskivers, eat ALL the aebleskivers, people.

I went in here on Easter Sunday. The food was incredible. Scrambled eggs done perfectly which is sort of unusual in a casual breakfast restaurant. Bacon was great also and so were the biscuits. And I couldn’t have left without getting some French TOAST. The French Toast I make at home is my favorite but this was a damn close second.

By far my favorite meal in Nola. Had the cheese and herbs crêpe with a biscuit because carbs are awesome. First off, the portions are huge which I love because I’m a chunk. so I always get excited when I see a lot of food on my plate. The biscuit was essentially equal to 4 regular sized biscuits and it was SODAMNGOOD. My taste buds were having a party the entire time. Such simple food but it was so yummy. They have a lot of menu options including sweet and savory crepes, entrees with eggs and meats, and an assortment of pastries and baked goods.

I’m glad it took me moving away from NOLA and coming back on vacation to try this place or I’d be here 3 times a week. I honestly do not have a single complaint about this place. The pancake balls(or whatever their weird/culinary name is) are amazing. Tip: get an assortment of different dips for an extra 75 cents each because they taste great with all of them. The veggie crêpe is very good and light. The highlight of the meal was the hangar steak. It was cooked absolutely perfectly and the sauce was a nice touch. It definitely gets crowded so get here on the earlier side on the weekends and put your name down or come on a weekday!

Can this place get an AMEN from the food gods?! I found this place by accident the first time and today, went back there again because I was looking around Unilocal and realized when I was parking in the ridiculously adorably minuscule parking lot around the corner that I had already been there once before. I ordered the steak breakfast, I’m sorry I don’t know the exact name but it was medium rare steak, with a tartar green sauce, sliced red potatoes, and two sunny side up eggs. It was delicious, bloody enough meat, just right runny eggs, and yummy soft red potato slices. I even took a picture and was about to instagram it while my best friend looked at me in sheer disbelief on how INLOVE I was with my breakfast plate. Ironically, what caught my attention about this place was that they served crepes. Sadly because I’m always distracted by the meat murder plate, I haven’t had a chance to try any of them. ONEDAY! when I’m back in New Orleans, I’ll finally try out the crepes on the menu. The staff is sweet and friendly, the dining room is a little cramped but that’s what tiny hole in the walls are and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The parking is tight but so far I haven’t had any issues ever finding a space. People are always coming and going and it’s not too far off from a walk to Magazine street to help the digestive process begin. TOAST, I WILLBEBACK.

I never choose to wait in line or wait at all for breakfast. Toast was the exception. I came here knowing it would be busy and knowing we would have to wait and it was worth it. We arrived around 10am on a Thursday(New Year’s Eve) and waited for about 30 – 45 minutes. We choose the quickest available seating whether indoor or out. When we were seated we had«bar» style seating at the counter. The place is really tiny with only a handful of tables and a few waitstaff taking care of everyone. I had the aebleskivers(able-skee-vers) which are pancake like balls that come with your choice of dipping sauce/syrup. Maple was my choice and it complimented these things just right. I was really hungry and was debating getting more than just the aebleskivers and fruit that I had ordered. That was not necessary. I was stuffed and could barely finish what I had been served which is a rare occurrence for myself. Toast has a pretty simple menu with the obvious toast options, aebleskivers, crepes, and a small array of entrees. Plan to wait as most of the locals don’t mind and plan to leave full.

Found this place from fellow Unilocalers and was not disappointed. I absolutely love tiny breakfast places. Luckily we went on a Friday so it wasn’t too crowded. We sat at the bar and the service as wonderful. They filled our coffee and water without me even knowing I needed more! I got the vegetable omelet and it was amazing. Their homemade preserves are also really great. I’d definitely go back!

On vacation in New Orleans and wanting something good for breakfast munchies. Whipped out Unilocal and found Toast. It had good reviews so we headed over. You write your name down on their wait list which is a clipboard on a table outside. You can sit outside, inside or at the bar. We had oj to drink, normal nothing to say. We ordered the prosciutto and Brie crêpe, the banana Nutella crêpe, and the toast with egg and avocado. Everything was delicious. The prosciutto and Brie was really good but very rich, me and my wife split it, I don’t think I could’ve eaten the whole thing myself. The toast was really good. Nicely cooked sunny side egg, which was great over the toast and avocado. And you can’t go wrong with Nutella and banana. Overall it was a good experience. My only complaint would be the wait was a little long, but that is expected if the food is good.

Absolutely lovely little café with one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in the city. We had a prosciutto and brie crêpe, aebleskivers with lemon curd, toast and coffee. The crêpe was delicious; creamy, salty, in a savory crêpe batter. It was decadent. The aebleskivers, kind of a cross between a pancake and popover, was heavenly dipped in lemon curd. The toast and jam was glorious and the coffee was some of the best I have had, seriously good coffee. After leaving town and coming back home, Toast is definitely a place I have thought about and wished we had a crêpe like that here in Dallas. If you’re visiting the city and without a car, hop on the St. Charles Street Car and head to the Garden District. Theres so much more to experience beyond The Quarter! I’m already planning my next trip back.

I’ll break it down into sections: SERVICE/FLEXIBILITY This place is small, like REALLYREALLY small which makes for understandably difficult seating. That being said, their system is TERRIBLE. Upon arrival, you write your name on a list and then they call parties off the list to be seated. However, instead of calling parties in order of arrival, there seemed to be no system whatsoever! EIGHT parties who arrived after our party of four were seated before us(party sizes seated ranged from 2 to 5 and a party of 6.) And because they leave the list out for all to see, it was no secret what was going on(see added image.) Why were three parties of five people seated before our group of four even though we arrived 20 minutes before them? We were there long enough to see a party of five(who arrived after us) get seated, order, eat, and leave BEFOREOURNAMEWASCALLED. It took us an hour and ten minutes to finally sit down. And this seemed to be an issue for other parties as well– there was lots of grumbling from the groups outside as we were leaving. Once seated, our waitress was sweet enough, so I won’t knock table service there. FOOD After that 70 minute wait in the cold, I was so ready and excited to finally get the menu choices we were so looking forward to, but unfortunately everything(with the exception of the homemade biscuit) fell flat. My Brie and prosciutto crêpe was so u underdone on the outside and dry in the inside that I couldn’t eat it. I’ll break it down by dish: MONTECRISTO NOT a real monte CRISTO. The sandwich was pan fried not deep fried and, as a result, a very soggy sandwich. There was an awful mustard dressing on the sandwich that overpowered all other flavor. And presentation was terrible. It was just flung on the plate without regard to visual appeal. BRIEANDPROSCUITTOCREPE As mentioned before, while the prosciutto inside was dry and tough, the crêpe itself was underbaked and way too eggy in consistency. I took two bites and couldn’t continue. HOMEMADEBISCUITS THEONLYRESON Toast gets 2 stars instead of 1. They are rich, flavorful, fluffy but moist and delicious. Yum yum! MEYERLEMONPOPPYSEEDMUFFIN I love lemon poppyseed, but this muffin was incredibly bitter and almost flavorless otherwise. There was no balance of sweet and tart and at our table of 4, nobody wanted a second bite. CROQUEMADAME unlike the Monte Christo, the presentation of this sandwich was lovely, but the taste and consistency was just… Off. The over-easy eggs were jellified rather than runny and they were sweet… Yes, sweet! The bread was not cooked enough and it too was soggy. The potatoes were good. KINGCAKECREPE Points for creativity here because the flavor was dead on to a king cake. However, the filling was sickeningly sweet. Too much for its size. Imagine a piece of king cake the size of a large slice of pizza. Yikes. SUMMARY I will NOT be going back nor will I recommend it to friends. Between the awful pre-table service and the disappointing food, I just say– don’t waste your time!

This was our third option because both Surrey’s and Ruby Slipper had crazy lines on an early Sunday afternoon. All in all, Toast was an okay experience. My hangar steak was cooked well and had good flavor. The potatoes and eggs were both solidly whatever. The coffee was incredibly weak and sad. I might come back one more time to try the crepes to see if they’d win me over. In conclusion, meeeeeeeh. At least parking in this part of uptown is always easy.

Yes please! I came here with a group of non-yelpers who I’m trying to convert(actually, Joshua A. was there and he’s totally a Unilocaler, although an infrequent one). It was Monday after Halloween weekend and I was hungry and kind of grumpy about Voodoo being cancelled the day before, but eating here made me feel much, much better. I didn’t hold back, y’all. Here’s a list of things I tried: 1. King Cake Crêpe: Absolutely amazing, they got the king cake flavor straight on. It was beautifully presented, topped with Mardi Gras colors. The filling they use is very similar to that which you would find in a traditional cinnamon king cake. The crêpe batter they use is absolutely phenomenal and produces the perfect light, airy crêpe. I would definitely order this again. 2. Classic Breakfast: Because I wanted to try a little of everything, this is what I ordered. It consisted of bacon, grits, a biscuit, and 2 eggs. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Chewy with just the right amount of crispiness. Even some of my favorite breakfast places overdo bacon sometimes and this place got it spot on. The grits had a delicious, creamy texture, although they could have been a little hotter. The eggs were cooked to a perfect over medium as requested. The biscuit had the perfect texture, but was lacking the cheddar cheese flavor I was expecting. 3. Marshmallow crêpe: I stole a bite from my friend’s plate. Absolutely delicious. Tasted like s’mores. 4. Crawfish quiche special: I stole a bite from my friend’s plate. It was very good, and I don’t particularly care for quiche that much, so that’s saying something. 5. Orange Juice: Delicious and fresh squeezed. The service was super friendly and great with accommodating our somewhat picky group. Definitely come here! Or don’t, it means no wait time for me.

Typical Saturday driving town Magazine trying to decide what to have have for breakfast and the Unilocal Gods choose Toast. As usual I figured any brunch place with 4.5 stars is going to be busy on a Saturday morning and it was. It wasn’t too bad though. Toast is a small neighborhood restaurant and if not for the people waiting outside for their table you would drive right past it. After parking on the street in front of someone’s house you walk up and find a wait list pad where you right down your name and the number of people in your party. Next to it they have a water pitcher so that you don’t get thirsty while you wait. Our wait was only about 30 minutes which is not bad at all for that part of the city on a Saturday morning. When we went inside we were sat at one of the roughly 10 – 15 table that they have inside(there’s seating outside as well). I ended up ordering the Omelette with bacon, spinach & gruyère and we split the pancake balls with maple syrup. The omelet was good. Nothing to dream about and run back to the restaurant for but it was good… BUTTHESEPANCAKEBALLS! It still is beyond me how they could make something so amazing! They were so light and fluffy and just perfect. There are some things in life that you just can’t explain and you can’t describe and this is one of them. All i can tell you is to go and get them yourself! I can’t wait till our brunch rotation comes back around to Toast!

You know a restaurant is good when there is crowd of people waiting in the rain to get in. Really cute and cozy. There is nothing here that isn’t excellent and uniquely prepared. Biscuits are thin and crispy, feels great cutting through with the fork. The dishes, even the heavy ones feel lighter on the stomach than they should be which is great. After eating, I felt great although I had a several ebelskivers, biscuits covered in gravy with an egg on top and grits. Staff are caring, efficient and characters themselves. Wow, a 5 star brunch place. Very cool, couldn’t be happier.

This place is the best thing since sliced bread! TOAST… Get it? Lol. Anyway, I just had brunch here and I’m already dreaming about my next visit. Ok, so… I had the avocado toast. I was BLOWN away by how amazing they made such a simplistic combination. The toast alone would bring me back. You can tell they take great care in using the best possible ingredients and that they are passionate about good food. My guy ordered the classic breakfast, and although I was looking forward to sampling their biscuit, he subbed it out for toast. Just another reason to go back. He raved about his eggs being perfectly cooked and the grits being fluffy. He and I both believe this has been our best brunch experience so far in Louisiana. And the funny thing is, the place is so cozy and non assuming, you wouldn’t even expect such fine food to be served. I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be back. Oh and although I originally ordered the pancake puffs with nutella, you HAVE to have those with lemon curd. To… die… For. Thanks to my fellow Unilocalers for letting a sista now.

My work friend recommended this place the other day and since we were in the area, we decided to give it a try. There were quite a wait and the place is not very big, but we figured if there were so many people waiting for tables on such rainy day, this place must be good! Well, we are right… Service was great. Our server was so friendly. Even though the place was so busy, she managed to be calm and kind. She made sure we had our drinks refilled constantly and was always with a smile. Okay, food… It’s AMAZING!!! We ordered the French toast puff(there is a name for it but I just can’t remember) and it was so light and fluffy. Dipping the lemon cream was just adding another level of awesomeness to it. Most importantly, I think my 3 year old will enjoy this more even… For our main course, we ordered the prosciutto and Brie crêpe with a side spinach salad, and Sausage, eggs, gravy on homemade biscuit with grits. The crêpe has a perfect ratio of prosciutto and Brie, so it was not too salty and with the side spinach salad, it just adds freshness to the dish. The salad was also perfectly tossed with the right amount of dressing. The biscuit… Oh goodness, it’s just beyond good. The eggs were sunny side up and the sausage patties were delicious. They are very flavorful and not salty at all.(By now, you can tell that I am not a big fan of salt. ;-)) the biscuit was crispy and fluffy at the same time. The gravy was pour over the whole thing and at first, I was being a little skeptical about it but it turned out that the gravy was so light and flavorful! The grits… I think they put butter in it but whatever it is, it’s perfect to this dish! Confession: I wasn’t being a creep or anything, but I peeked at what other people were ordering and the toast with avocado and fried egg looked amazing as well so I think I will get that next time.
