I literally signed up for Unilocal just to share my awful experiences at spa shine. First off, let me say that this is a great spot. The services are usually worth it and well priced. The problems I’ve experienced all come from Diane. She has said many troubling things to me during our facials but because I appreciate the establishment so much, I never said anything besides asking not to have her anymore. The first time she was my esthetician, she asked me if I washed my hair. I assumed maybe it was because she was wondering what I used on my hair, but she did not ask anything more after I said of course. On my next visit she said I needed to change professions because I didn’t make enough money, even though I never told her my salary. Then she told me that she said the same thing to another client who made x amount of money as a public defender. I couldn’t believe she disclosed the salary of another client. She then probed into my financial life asking how I could afford a facial. On my last visit with her she tried to get me to cancel the facial claiming that I wouldn’t be able to afford it although I had never voiced concern about not being able to pay or had trouble paying. Then, the final straw, as she massaged my legs, she let out a Unilocal because I choose not to shave my legs. She screamed and asked how my boyfriend handles it. Never have I experienced such degradation based on the life choices I make. I’m surprised that such a fine establishment would hire her. She has even spoken poorly of her colleagues during our facials claiming that they are too heavy-​handed in their facials compared to her.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience. Typically I am not one to write reviews but in this case it is imperative that I do. The manager Chance (I believe that is his name) is awesome. He is the very reason why I decided to book an appointment in the first place. Diane (I believe that is her name) is a completely different case. Her prejudice demeanor is very apparent. I came in for a brightening facial treatment, I am of black descent so hyperpigmetation can be a problem with those of a darker hue. Diane is obviously uneducated in the matter of chemical peels. She offended me on a number of occasions. First by making it seem that the minor black spots that I have were very severe. She said don’t expect to see results, damage like that would take many many treatments. I then asked how many … Her response was ALOT. She never mentioned an amount. She went to the extreme of stating that lasering would be a better option but that it is expensive. To not make this post long I walked out. I told her that she highly offended me and to that she mentioned to me that she was Hispanic … Sweetie Hispanic is not a race, there are many black Hispanics, thank that to the slave trade and also there are many white Hispanics. Diane is ignorant to say the least, she is not well versed in her field at all. I ended up going to the woodhouse, great experience there! Funny thing is Diane made it seem as if I had severe hyperpigmetation … I don’t, I have a few black spots. My therapist at the woodhouse mentioned that she saw very little hyperpigmetation at all! I would say that the establishment shine is nice, but education on being politically correct is needed with Diane. She also needs to take a course on skin peels, they do in face treat hyperpigmetation. I am a chemist myself and talking to Diane she defiantly dosent understand the chemistry behind skin peels. Furthermore I will always stand up to prejudice people. Diane is one of those people. Educate yourself.

Came along this place accidently. I went in for a manicure and my polish chipped the next day which I wasn’t to happy about. Service was great! Atmosphere is very relaxing! I will return and get a massage next time. And I will stick to my gel polish.

Just can’t say enough about how much I love this place! The staff are so friendly and accommodating! I always have some fresh made kombucha while I get my pedicure. Haven’t gotten to try out a massage yet but that’s next on the list.

Stopped here on a girls trip with my soon to be mother and sister in law and it was absolutely amazing. We all got massages and it definitely made the trip to NOLA complete after all the walking we had been doing for the week. It was cool to have a personalized aromatherapy set for each one of us. I would definitely be coming back both for a massage and to stock up on some of the homemade cookies their owner makes.

I went to Shine with extreme muscle pain after having too much fun during Halloween. I received one of the BEST massages that I’ve gotten since moving to New Orleans 2 years ago. Kimberly was AMAZING and applied the right pressure in all of the right areas. I’m a massage therapist so usually I find myself disappointed and critiquing a massage the whole time. Not with Kimberly though. I was able to completely relax and let her do her thing. She only works on Sundays, but I will surely be back to visit her! The only thing that was disappointing was that I got a 60 minute instead of 90. There’s always next time!

I had an amazing day at Shine!!! Renee was awesome! I came in there with some problematic skin problems and she took great care of me. I was very pleased with the quality of her service and how I was able to get an appointment right then and there. I love this location. Can’t wait to go back again and I love the strawberry infused water it’s so refreshing!

I had an amazing day at SHINE. I started with a salt shine with Renee who handled me with loving hands and made me relax immediately… I then had a pedicure and manicure with Vicki, who did it the right way… which is rare in New Orleans. I was so happy I didn’t want to leave so I booked a facial on the spot… Chance gladly helped me take care of that and after a short wait across the breeze way at Felipe’s, I was back with Renee receiving probably one of the best facials I have ever had… EVER! I felt so good, I fell asleep on her table… I can’t wait to go back with my husband and spend the day with a great pampering team at SHINE. I was so inspired, I purchased the book about water and salt I started reading during the pedicure… I LOVED my experience at SHINE and that Bio Mat! Wow!
The only thing I would do differently is give Vicki her own space.

Got an amazing facial from Dianne and a relaxing mani-​pedi from Vicki. This place is the perfect balance of peaceful organic spa and skilled, seasoned estheticians that know their stuff. The products they use are natural, potent, and reasonably priced with a retail area full of products I can’t wait to try. Great place just to stop in to buy a quick gift for someone or have a full spa day with all the bells and whistles.

My custom facial was superb! The treatment rooms are beautiful and the whole experience is relaxing from start to finish. Rene gave me the best facial I have ever had!

Loved my experience there today! Everyone there was so helpful, and they went out of their way to make me feel comfortable.
On a whim, I got a mini-​pedicure, and it was delightful. Vicky was a true professional, and she gave me the best Pedi I’ve ever gotten. Seriously, I have nasty feet and a toenail on my left foot that would scare Big Foot, but Vicki was able to work miracles.
That biomat is the bomb diggety. There’s an option to take a 15 minute nap on it for $ 20, and even though it sounds absurd, I plan on coming back to do it! That may is my spirit animal.

I had a great manicure today with Kelly. The space is really pleasant – you immediately forget that it’s in a shopping center. The manager? gave me lots of samples and was able to add the manicure last minute to a lip wax appointment that I already had. Well curated selection of products and they say more to come soon. Go check them out – you won’t be disappointed.
