Raising Cane’s is like that sweet mid tier between your typical grody fast food chain(cough McDonald’s cough) and a reputable diner. They’re good at what they do(cane’s sauce, chicken strips), cheap, and fast. My only con for this place is that twice in a row, I’ve gotten stale fries from the drive thru. Other that that, this Cane’s is pretty on par with the all the others.

When this location opened I warned my friend that it was dangerously close to where I live and that I would I would probably take up residence there. I am not ashamed to admit I was outrageously excited when this location opened because I was really not a fan of making the journey down to the one on St. Charles when I needed my Cane’s fix. Anyway, one of the things I love about all the Cane’s I’ve been to is how upbeat and positive the employees are, they always greet everyone who walks in by saying ‘welcome to Cane’s’ which is a nice touch. The one exception for Cane’s is the one in the food court at Lakeside mall because they look at you like you’re slightly annoying. A few final things I love about Cane’s is 1) the consistency of the food is good, 2) the restaurant is always really clean, and 3) Cane’s sauce is amazing but I’m not ok with how addictive it is because I always order an embarrassing number of extra Cane’s sauces and my friends make fun of me.

As I left today with my usual order and put my straw in my cup I saw a black spec on the rim of my cup and as I took the lid off I saw it was a dead bug. Totally grossed out! This will be my last time visiting this unhealthy Canes.

During a recent drunk dial, I was detailing my immediate food options to a friend in DC. I described all the usual options then mentioned I was a block away from Raising Cane’s. My drunk self could best describe Raising Cane’s as «a restaurant that only fucking sells fucking chicken.» While not exactly true, this is a restaurant whose entire business plan is chicken tenders with sort of boring sides. On the one hand, they are damn fine chicken tenders. The sweet tea and lemonade are also excellent, and the toast has some sort of magic that makes me want to lick it and rub it all over my face with love.(I swear I’m not always drunk when I’m at Raising Cane’s. I just like their toast, okay?) But on the other, it’s a business that makes chicken tenders, frozen extruded crinkle fries, lack-luster slaw, and spicy mayo. Christ, it’s like every Mississippi wedding I’ve ever attended.(My brother served Raising Cane’s before his wedding, I kid you not.) In a slaw battle, Popeye’s will win every time. This particular location is actually the best service I’ve ever had in the area. The company culture is really weird and a little stilted, especially screaming, «LOVEINTHEWINDOW!» when they put up an order. But but but, none of the staff on Claiborne Ave have developed bad habits yet. There is none of that long-term malaise that settles into an established fast food or fast casual restaurant. Of course those habits are coming, but this location is new so folks are still delighted to have this job. I’ll drink to that. Accessibility notes: doors open out. Low counter. Interior is often loud. Drive-through available. No Braille menu or signage.

I pre-ordered 75 tenders for Endymion Saturday and they said it’d be ready for 10:45. I got there around 10:15 and they had my order ready at 10:30. The staff was super nice and threw in some extra sauce for me. The few people who came in while I waited were served promptly and professionally. This Cane’s is doing very well so far.

The service was amazing. The young lady who was taking care of drive thru was very friendly! She smiled and she looked like she enjoyed being at work! The food was very good! This is a busy location so be prepared to wait, but it is worth it :)
