I ate here before a road trip when I wanted something quick but relatively healthy. The spring rolls were delicious, but would have tasted much better with the dipping sauce I requested. The sauce was never brought to me. To top it off, when I went up to ask for the dipping sauce, the employee cut me off mid-sentence to ask«for here or to go?» Let customers tell you what they need without interruptions, especially when the restaurant isn’t busy. The rest of the food was passable, but nothing exceptional. I had Kung Pao veggies and tofu. It was a bit dry, and not as flavorful as I’ve had elsewhere. As other reviewers have mentioned, mom and pop Asian restaurants easily surpass them in quality, and for similar prices. Overall: not impressed with the customer service or the food, and unlikely to come back.

I just wanted lettuce wraps and instead I got chopped lettuce and sauce. Is the chicken portion suppose to be the consistency of meat sauce? What am I missing here? The place is dirty, floors were covered in food, tables not bused and drink station items were half empty. I went at 730pm mind you! I observed a cook eating while he cooked another was yelling about some drama; where am I? This place is janky.

healthy, and fast and cheap. not too bad. american style asian food. not hot as in chile pepper hot, including the hot sauce they give you. thats a lost star right there, BUT it was healthy. very casual, and fun atmosphere very friendly people work here, and the to go service quick. the pop machine tho? is like all those pop machines, not much flavor to them. I’ll be back tho. for the price and health of it. next time I’ll stick with tea

Round 2 after my past horrible experience: Visited with 3 friends, food slightly better but came all out of order. One main meal first, then the other 2 main courses, then the rangoons, and then the bowls of wonton soups with only 2 wontons, they said they would get more but they never came. They have one more chance to get it together or «we» won’t be back!

Pei Wei was recommended by a friend, and I sort of like PF Chang’s so I gave it a shot. I ordered takeout: Thai Dynamite Chicken and the Korean steak lettuce wrap. Everything was fresh, but in no way did the chicken dish resemble«Thai» food, and it wasn’t the least bit spicy. I have the feeling that all the sauces are the same, with the«hot» dishes merely containing less sugar or ginger or something. The«Korean» steak wrap was similarly blah. That being said, I’ll probably go back when I’m in the mood for bland fast food to stuff in my face. The price was more than reasonable for the quantity.

Today, I visited this restaurant for the second time in less than a week. My first visit was so enjoyable I had to hurry to return. On my first visit I had a new menu item selection, a Thai Lime & Chile Salad. This is probably the wettest salad I have ever had because it was drenched in a Thai Lime Pineapple Sauce and a Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette. The salad was huge and contained a variety of mixed green lettuce, Napa cabbage, snap peas, Fresno chile peppers, cashews, bean sprouts, red onions, carrots, cucumbers, mint and cilantro. As good as the salad tasted, the $ 7.19 price including tax was even sweeter. My second visit was more perplexing because the meal didn’t measure up to my expectations. I ordered a menu item listed as a classic called Kung Pao, with chicken and brown rice. This turned out to be boneless fried chicken with chile seared soy sauce, scallions, garlic and white mushrooms. My taste buds were in for quite a surprise because of my misguided expectations. The menu read«scallions» but my mind saw«scallops.» The brown rice which filled half of the platter was fried and therefore a bit too crunchy for my liking. I ordered the small lunch portion instead of the large, but it was more of a mini portion, since I didn’t eat much of the rice. The most egregious problem was I assumed that this Asian dish was like the Chinese dish called Kung Bo. A major difference is that the Kung Bo dish has a thick and spicy gravy, while the Kung Pao ingredients are seared or sauteed, and a gravy is rather light or non-existent. Overall, the Kung Pao tasted great, I just wish i had ordered more of it. I do plan on returning soon, but I will be more mindful of the menu items’ descriptions.

So impressed with my last experience with Pei Wei I returned this time for the Pad Thai. Again I was very impressed. The noodles sauce and seasonings were a flavor sensation, something that you can expect from Thai food. My protein of choice was shrimp which is the most popular protein with pad thai. They offered a generous helping of plump shrimp even in the small portion size which is very filling. I would not say that I enjoyed it better than the Dan Dan but it is something that will definitely be added to the rotation. The food is great considering its a chain and not one person of asian decent can be seen in the building.

I do a lot of takeout after work from Pei Wei. I feel this place is the KINGOFTAKEOUT. I have not had a bad experience with the service nor the food at this location. I normally stick with the same order which consist of teriyaki chicken brown rice and a order of crab dragoon. This order never does me wrong. I love it and its all the flavor I need. The order is never a long wait and for that I appreciate them even on busy days. Depending on when you go, parking can be a bit annoying specifically around the 7−9pm hour.

Our first visit to this new spot in Mid-City rates 2 ½ stars, somewhere in between«A-OK» and«Meh, I’ve had Better.» After reading the menu on line I was pretty excited. Gluten-Free options, Vegetarian options, lot of my Asian favorites were all listed. I picked out what were we having before we even got there which made the ordering easier. You can even order on-line for super easy pick-up. They even had special parking spots dedicated to ‘To Go Orders”. Nice! We ate in. The restaurant is nicely designed and super clean. We took advantage of the beautiful day and enjoyed the outdoor seating. Once you order they give you a numbered sign and everything gets delivered to your table. Grab some utensils and a drink and get comfortable. We tried each of the two soups, both sort of «Meh». The Hot & Soup soup was very thick and didn’t have much in it but a few tofu chunks. The Thai Wonton Soup had some nicely flavored wontons but the stock was kind of bland. We then split an order of the chicken lettuce wraps(which P.F. Chang’s, the sister company, is know for) and an order of Pad Thai with shrimp. The lettuce wrap plate came out pretty quick and was good and flavorful. It is served with a sauce that I found to be SUPER salty and wasn’t necessary at all as the meat mixture was very well seasoned. We could have used one more piece of lettuce, but we ate the last of the mix with a fork, no.big.deal. After watching the traffic flow for 10 or 15 minutes from the patio seating area, I could tell they somehow forgot our noodle dish. After an inquiry at the counter, they whipped us up an order of their version of Pad Thai. Again, I found it to be SUPER salty. Overall, an OK experience, but I definitely have had better. I love Asian foods of all varieties, but this fusion spot is one of those Asian food for Non-Asian type places. Meh.

I like it. Its the fast food of the ASIANFUSIONCUISINE. Not the normal burgers & fries of the fast food world… but I’m a TRIER… So I’ll go for it TRY, TRY, TRY, TRY!!! I love the NEW locale this restaurant is surrounded by. It’s the newest in the New up & coming Carrollton Area… YaaaaaaY. So Cali-NOLA… Loving it!!! Ok REVIEWTIME: So upon entrance you’re greeted with menus and a line forming to my immediate right. Hmmmm ok, maybe I should’ve been a little more thorough… ANYWHO So we decided, approached the counter, ordered food & an adult beverage… Hello(don’t judge me hunnie) & an appetizer. So after you pay, you take your number to the table of your choice & have a seat. There’s a drink station(sodas, teas, waters & the like) for you get the beverage of your choice & then be seated to wait on the arrival of your food. Ok so food has been delivered & it was great… all that I expected & more. 6 one way & ½ dozen the other, I think I like the openness of the restaurant, buuuuuuut it makes it hard to have a decent conversation with your dining companion. Ehhhhhhh, but no matter, I guess you’re supposed to be eating anyway huh??? Oh well… There are 2 bathrooms, one female & one male… I had the distinct pleasure of utilizing the mens ONESTALL restroom, as the female ONESTALL restroom was occupied(no judging… when you gotta go, you gotta go…) There’s a lobby person that busts the tables & picks up your tray etc… I think I was supposed to tip her, immmmmm yeah I missed that one; hindsight!!! Oh well next time ma/am!!! Parking is shared by the many other dining & retail establishments in the strip mall, so good luck hunting. (Just got a PEIWEIBOGO Lettuce Wrap Offer… WINNNNNNNNNNNNING!!!)

I usually avoid large chains, but I had received a free $ 10 coupon in the mail and had actually heard some good things about Pei Wei, so I went to check it out. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I ordered online and went to pick up the order when it said the order would be ready. It was finished on time and the staff was super friendly. The atmosphere was clean and nice. They get some points there. I ordered the Thai Dynamite(chicken) with extra vegetables. The dish is marked as spicy and with a name like that, I thought I’d try it out«as is» without ordering«extra spicy» just yet. The sauce was bland and had no heat whatsoever. I saw that they gave me a small dish of sweet chili sauce, so I added that and then it just tasted like a really gross generic Asian dish. It was so unappetizing that I couldn’t finish. And the extra vegetables? Glad I ordered them because without them there would have barely been any. The«small» portion size was just right, though. I also ordered a spring roll because I had $ 10 free dollars to blow. First of all, $ 1.99 for ONE spring roll is just crazy, but hey, I wasn’t really paying. Unfortunately the spring roll was burned. Gah. Most of the other appetizers are super expensive, too($ 1.99 for two little wontons?). In summary, I could have gotten more food for less money(if I had actually paid) and with more flavor at a regular Chinese/American take-out joint. I wasn’t impressed and am not tempted to try anything else there.

This chain produces excellent quality pan Asian fare. Its a little bit of Thai, Korean, and Chinese all in one place. The food itself is flavorful and there are numerous options to choose from. I opted for the kung-po with brown rice and it was fantastic. The sugar beans were nice and crunchy. I also get the lettuce wraps and they were as good as always. It’s just great food at a very reasonable price. It is a chain though, but given that I don’t think the city offers very good Chinese or Korean, its is sorely needed. Go and give it a try, you will be glad you did.

As an apples-to-apples comparison, it’s a decent short-order wok spot. Comfortable, clean, super friendly staff, customizable menu; but, really, since the bottom line is the food, I was underwhelmed with the flavors. Pei Wei clearly positions themselves as Asian-Fusion, so, big bold flavors should abound on their menu. Right? I think so. Their food is extremely accessible(code word for the suburbs), and although it isn’t sucky, it definitely isn’t awesome. It’s quick, it’s a lot of food for the money, it’s comfortable. Is it a dining destination? Not for this guy right here. I will likely take the kids there from time to time, but when I want the fiya Asian, I will head downtown to a destination I shall not name in the name of impartiality(I help operate the unnamed downtown spot). It’s a 3 star place that gets an extra star because it is a little bit better than its peers based on price points, freshness, and ambiance.

The teriyaki chicken with rice was very good and filling. The soup was also good. The staff was great, and when my friend stated that he needed more rice, he got a huge bowl full, at no charge. Awesome!

Was expecting real Asian food. Which was not! It was more of a American version to Asian cuisine. I got the asian chopped chicken salad. Not very Asian at all, but still was a pretty tasty salad. My hubby ordered the pad Thai, it was OK. Kind of sour with a kick, nothing like at equators or any real Thai restaurants. However, I really liked the to go boxes they set out for you to take home leftovers, the place was very clean and organized as well. Always go for the experience. I much rather walk down the street to panera bread.

I went there last week for lunch and everything was delicious. And my bill was only about $ 10. They sent my Thai Soup out ten minutes late and the manager apologized and comp’d my whole meal for free. I didnt even notice that my soup was ten minutes late nor did I care because I still had a full plate. In summary, great service!!! I am a loyal customer now. The manager’s name was Andrew. After my meal was done I found him, shook his hand, and thanked him for the great service. I’ll be back soon! …Garett

For a chain restaurant this place isn’t too bad. I had really never even heard of this place until recently. I noticed that this location just opened up in mid city, and someone here on Unilocal mentioned it. The service was alright, the ladies at the register were friendly. So was the waitress lady that brought out my food. The service was pretty speedy as well, which I liked very well. The food was good, but not quiet as good as your standard mom and pop asian restaurant. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken with brown rice. The Kung Pao chicken was very good. It was nice and spicy and you could tell that the food was fresh. The brown rice was okay but nothing to brag about. There were several things that I liked about this place. They do sell beer but the selection is rather limited. Like Sapporo, miller lite and Abita. They have a coca cola soda fountain that lets you chose plenty of flavor combinations for your soda. You should try strawberry sprite, its the shiznat! They also have a lot of healthy menu options going on here. Good for people on a diet or just trying to eat better. This place is also very vegetarian friendly, lots of vegetarian options on the menu. Good news for all you veg heads anyways. In short cheap, good, fast and healthy food. Great addition to the Mid-City area!

Ran in from a rain shower so stayed to eat lunch. Got small chicken teriyaki bowl and Pork Egg Roll. Much better food then the old place there before Katrina and other Chinese style food places near. Very crowded but fast efficient service. Fresh made, fast service, good value. Looking forward to try other plates. Good Mid City addition may help improve food served in other places near it.
