I’m a local and can’t believe I’d never been to Patrick’s Bar Vin before yesterday. Since it is such an amazingly cozy spot with lots of charm and a wonderful wine selection within all price ranges, I will be back again. and often– especially during Happy Hour! :)

What a classy and fun place! Sometimes that sounds contradictory… how could it be both??? Close to the chaos and craziness of Bourbon street with the same kind of energy found there but in a cultivated way. That is only part is of the charm in Patrick’s! The other parts include the«wine theme everything» tastefully done décor, the friendliness and excellent service from Lisa, and of course, the personality, knowledge, and vibrancy of the owner himself– Patrick! The final part of this absolutely perfect wine bar is the star attraction, the wine itself! Many of the wines available could and probably are on the wine lists in the fanciest of restaurants. But Patrick’s doesn’t leave out the wine lovers like me who have a limited wine budget. Even the wines on the lower monetary end of the spectrum are a wonderful tasting and drinking experience! Not to be forgotten and unmentioned, is the charcuterie and cheese plate. Goat cheese, pâté, prosciutto, and much more. All artfully chosen by a master chef to compliment the splendid wines. Not to be missed, so drop and say«Hi» to Patrick. You’ll both be glad you did!

a great place to revive and relax after the madness of the French quarter. Just around the corner from Bourbon st, but you would never know it. the bar is dark, quiet and cozy. it has a great selection of wines and cocktails and craft beer. the staff is cool and will guide you in the right direction for wines, etc. a nice little island of sophistication amid the crassness of the Quarter.

Bar Vin is a great spot off Bourbon to pop into when you want something a bit classier or if you just need a break from the constant madness. It is intimate, dark and sexy with an old world feel. The bartender during the day is a doll and she gave us great recommendations on where to go during our visit to New Orleans. This bar is truly charming and even has a garden patio!

Five stars ought to be doled out sparingly, and this is the third five stars in NOLA in as many days. Wow. She and I wanted to have a light lunch, being 2pm and with dinner reservations at Angeline at 7, so we stopped here. I like everything about this place, the entrance on Royal is through a gate way with a few tables and two little garden fountain — one with your typical putto. You walk inside into a cozy foyer with tables into the main room with a long bar to the right and more tables. Patrick’s is a wine bar, and the list is extensive and well priced. They don’t have a kitchen but serve cheese, and cheese with cold cuts platter. We ordered the latter and chewed through it with two glasses of red each. Great service, great wine, and the platter was just what the doctor ordered. Go here

There’s a time and place for everything(well, most things) but, of late, I’ve noticed that I much prefer the trappings of a grown & sexy establishment than a loud one with folks running to and fro. So, when I heard there was a sophisticated wine bar attached to the hotel at which I was staying… I was all in. Patrick’s, I could get used to a place like you. To begin with, it’s comfortable. Rather than bellying up to a bar(which you can do), Patrick’s is all about comfortable seating(back away from my chaise!), favorable lighting and a vibe that encourages you to stick around, drink wine and luxuriate. The vibe is very fitting for a wine bar for grown ups. Wine is about slowing down. Wine is about savoring. Wine is… in cocktails? What? Yes! Patrick’s, you just kicked this party up a bit. That’s right, true believers, not only can you come to Patrick’s for a relaxing glass of your favorite vino, you can appreciate the craftsmanship of the bar staff by turning that(sparkling) wine into a cocktail. This is a very good thing. So, rather than a glass of Cab or a Sauvignon Blanc, I opted to go as the Romans do and settled in for a glass of Kir Royale with Mathilde Cassis. That glass turned into another. And then… well, you know, this review isn’t about judgment, it’s about enjoyment. And it’s accurate to say that I greatly enjoyed my beverage. The glass the drink came in was interesting(savor with the eyes), the bubbles felt good on my tongue(touch), the sweet Mathilde Cassis smelled wonderful as I held the glass and struck a pose on the chaise(smell) and the taste was evident by how many I had. Don’t give me that look. It’s wine. It’s good for you.

I love this spot! My friends and family love this spot! We love it so much… that I now have an unshakable belief that Patrick’s Bar Vin will continue to succeed for many years. The staff are lovely, the menu is amazing, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I brought my cousin visiting from out of town recently and she had a blast. Next time you’re in New Orleans, do not miss an opportunity to visit this treasure… just a stone’s throw from Bourbon street.

LOVE this gem of a bar! Patrick and Lisa are lovely hosts, it is like relaxing in your living room while someone else pours the drinks and washes the glasses!

This place was in our hotel and it has all the elements you would want in a Lounge. It’s intimate without being cramped, has a nice outside patio and the staff are friendly. Oh, and the wine is excellent. Jessie was our bartender and he had a very outgoing personality. He told us a little bit about living in San Diego and returning to NOLA. He reccomended a Selby Chardonnay to me and my wife ordered an Italian Pinot Grigio which she enjoyed. I am picky with Chardonnays because I am not a fan of too much oak so it was nice that after communicating that to Jessie, he said to go with the Selby and it worked out. We were only there for about 30 minutes but the experience was excellent and we will return tonight.

First Unilocal review but felt compelled because this was such an unexpected experience. Happened upon Patrick’s by chance while in town for a bachelor party. I was able to convince the group we should check it out in order to balance our debauchery with what seemed like a classier place. It was classier, but unpretentious. In fact, it was the only place we visited where I had a great conversation with the owner himself. He and his staff were so gracious that it felt like we were guests at his home. Which happened to be well furnished and stocked with wine. He also introduced us to a bachelorette party that was there. We ended up hanging out with them the rest of the night at bars that, no surprise, Patrick suggested to us. The two in this group that were about to get married were on the their best behavior. Thank goodness the rest of us weren’t about to get married! The next time I visit New Orleans, I won’t be happening upon Patrick’s Bar Vin by chance. A+

:-(Uh… Patrick — you need to spend more time minding the wine bar!!! :-( Gorgeous interior — someone spent a fortune. But I didn’t like their by-the-glass red wine selections, at all, and I’m a trained wine judge in a major wine competition. And the bartender(a dyed redhead) needs to take some friendly pills and grow a personality. I wanted to love this place. It is clearly someone’s dream and they spend a fortune on it. But I couldn’t — wine bars live and die by their wine, and I was very unimpressed. Granted, I only looked at the by-the-glass menu, but I tasted 4 different reds and didn’t like ANY of them. Wine bars also live and die by their servers, and ours was quite unwelcoming.

Great haven from the craziness of Bourbon St. Ulysses is an excellent bartender and makes great dirty gin martini! Sadly, for being a «bar vin» their by the glass selections are not good. If I’m paying $ 12 for a glass of wine, it should at least be drinkable. The owners definitely need to work on that list. However, the cocktails are delicious and the courtyard patio is charming. They also have happy hour from 4 – 7! No food(though sometimes they might have a cheeseplate available) so only plan on having a cocktail and some lovely conversation.

You would never know you’re in the French Quarter! And that’s a good thing! Literally just a couple dozen steps off Bourbon street, once you walk into the courtyard you enter a completely different world than the one barely audible outside the gate. Walk further into the bar and you feel a sense of refined isolation, surrounded only by comfy seating, amazing wines, and people who share the same love for the subtleties of sipping and enjoying good wine. It’s like you’ve escaped to a far better place. And really, you have! Knowledgable staff, huge wine selection, reasonable prices, a great environment… this is THE place for catching a breath, slowing your pace, letting yourself settle into a much better place… So relax, peruse the extensive wine list, contemplate the joys of that first sip when your tastebuds say«yeses!» Yeah, this is THAT place. So good. So deserved. Welcome to a better life. Love it.

Super cute & comfortable spot to sit at the bar, find a more intimate space for 2, join a group on the couches or sit outside and enjoy some really delightful wines. The wines by the glass from their basic menu are well priced and offer some great choices for sparkling, whites and reds. You can also get adventurous off their extensive wine list by bottle. Many of these bottles can be sampled by the glass, as well. The bartenders are incredibly knowledgeable and can guide you to something you’ll love. We found ourselves returning a few times to Patrick’s. Great space that we highly recommend!

This is a great little place to escape the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter and get a glass of wine. Courtyard seating in the outside and modern comfy seating on the inside. Not too touristy yet, so enjoy it while you can. Don’t look for Hurricanes and Hand Grenades here.

Located just off Bourbon Street, this was a welcome surprise. A quiet and upscale wine bar just feet with great ambiance and décor. There is a small bar located more towards the back with about 6 – 8 seats. There is also some sofas and chairs located through the place. The wine list is is quite diverse and they allow wines by the glass for any bottle they have. From memory, there were over 60 bottles of wine from most wine producing continents and across many styles(White, Red, Sparkling, Dessert). Bartenders are extremely friendly, attentive but not over-bearing and quite knowledgable about wine. If you are looking for a quiet and friendly wine stop away from the ‘madness’ of Bourbon street, this is your place.

«A fine bottle of wine turns strangers into friends and friends into family.» –The Maestro Lovely little wine bar My boyfriend and I don’t just love wine, we are OBSESSED with it. We kiss it and hug it and whisper sweet things to it and tell it that we will be together forever. Oh wait, maybe that’s what we say to one another after we’ve had a few bottles of wine. That makes waaaaaay more sense. We’re obsessed with one another and wine is part of the equation. That sounds way less crazy. And no, we are not alcoholics… yet. Patrick’s Wine Bar is a place for those who love wine and for those who are in love. You need not be both but you have to at least be one of the two or else you should just go down to Bourbon Street with the rest of the fools meet someone who’s been dragged there by a friend and then come back. There’s a little courtyard outside, living room style seating areas inside and bar seating for those of us who need to interact with someone other than the person we’re traveling with. We sat at the bar, hey don’t judge, we’re just keeping it real. We both enjoyed the house red for just $ 6(called Patrick’s Best Kept Secret) chit chatted with the two bartenders on staff and got some great recommendations on where to go in the area. Please note that you do need to come up to the bar to be served as they don’t come out to wait on you. Yes, this is somewhat awkward from a guest perspective but I think you’ll enjoy the atmosphere which is a inviting and cozy without being one bit divey.

Wow. This place is the real deal! Towards the tail end of our trip to New Orleans, we were looking to spend a night acting slightly more like adults and less like binge drinking college students. Oh, we still wanted to drink, mind you. We just wanted to do it with airs of sophistication. Patrick’s Bar Vin more than fit that bill. When we first arrived, the NFL playoffs were on with full sound. This was a bit of a bummer, but ended shortly and things were back to normal. I browsed the cocktail menu and casually chatted up the bartender. I wish I could remember her name, but she is great! Friendly, funny and able to handle the whole space all on her own. Also she really seemed to know her product. We chatted with her for quite a while, waiting on guests. She’s pretty much like my NOLA bestie, I think. BTW, awesome bartender, you’ll probably appreciate these reviews: I loved the wine and cocktail lists. I feared they were going to be crazy expensive, but that ended up not being the case. I mean, it’s not bargain basement prices, but they are more than reasonable for the quality and level of service. This place is Capital C Classy, and I don’t expect to pay Bourbon Street prices. Bottom line: this place is an oasis in the French Quarter. It’s soothing, upscale and has a fantastic product. I’ll be glad to visit again on my next trip to the city.
