6÷25÷167:30pm Food was pretty good. Server(Kasey) was sweet, but very poor service. All drinks over half empty, not one offer to refill. Appetizer ordered first came last… I mean very last after everyone finished eating entrée. Manager maybe(a guy in a tie) even served it apologizing saying it was«on the house». Server also apologized saying it was complimentary… but she stil failed to make sure it was taken off check… no problem… it came off her tip… sorry. Two stars off for service.

Our waitress Fee, was great. But we waited over an hour for our food. The then it came out, everything was soggy in oil. The coleslaw tasted as if they put the whole bottle of mayo in the mix. The place was very very noisey. I had a hard time hearing the person next to me talking. I will not be back!

So glad I found this place! This was our first real meal while in NoLa. We had to go with the Louisiana staples: Red beans and rice with andouille sausage and Mike got the Taste of New Orleans: gumbo, red beans and rice and crawfish étouffée. Langston was our server and he was most helpful. We ordered the crab cakes to start, and Oh My L… they were plump, meaty and topped with a crawfish and mushroom cream sauce! Seriously, one bite it will melt in your mouth and the flavors dance along your palate. I was so excited about my dish, and when it arrived it was larger than expected! I had seen other photos of it on Unilocal and it seemed there was more sausage. I had half of a half slice of sausage and a small scoop of rice. I was hoping the scoop would have been a little bit more. This dish is very filling, it comes with two slices of bread with oil. I was left with a full belly and still half of my meal to go! With your Unilocal check in you get a free glass of wine or free dessert(the dessert is only the bread pudding). But that bread pudding was the most succulent and riches thing that’s been in my mouth! Bursting with raisins and a rum sauce. I’d go for this over the wine! I know crazy right?! Don’t go to all the tourist spots because they are over crowded. We stayed away from those places and went to the real gems in the French Quarter. I will be back again for sure!

I came here on my first night of a girls trip to New Orleans we were looking around for a good restaurant and the doorman gave us a coupon for 10% our entire ticket then the balcony enticed us to sit on the second floor. We got in and sat quickly. I split a plate with a friend we ordered the seafood sampler which came with fried catfish, jumbo shrimp, and fried oysters which I really don’t like so I gave them to my friend. It came with a side of cole slaw, fries, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. Once the food came out it tasted so good I was very impressed for a restaurant being on Bourbon Street. When I checked in I had the option of getting a free desert or a glass of wine. I got a free desert which was a strawberry cheesecake. It was so big and yummy I couldn’t eat it all. The atmosphere was awesome and the service was awesome, our waitress was friendly and attentive. Seafood platter came out to $ 20 it’s better if you split it with someone because it definitely feeds two people. So if your looking for a place that has good NOLA cooking I definitely recommend this place especially if you go out for a night of drinking on Bourbon.

We ordered Taste of New Orleans: red beans and rice, crawfish ettouffe, seafood gumbo, the portion look small but after you are done eating all this you’ll be very full with good meals. You should try this menu. Everything is delicious.

I had a mixed experience on a Saturday lunch. I asked the seater to sit me on the balcony. He was super nice and immediately sat me on the balcony. The first impression was excellent. I had a great view and was sitting in the sun, with a view, where I wanted to be sitting. Then(truly no exaggeration) about 15 minutes later I started trying to politely get the attention of whoever was supposed to be my server. I finally went back inside and mentioned to a server that I think maybe I had been forgotten because sitting on the end of the balcony may have put me out of sight. A few minutes later the seater came back out and realized I hadn’t been served. He was genuinely embarrassed. Right after that my server came out and took my order. I had decided to get two appetizers and a drink as my meal. I told her I had a Unilocal check in reward for 1 free glass or wine or a dessert. She immediately told me it would only apply if I ordered an entrée. I thought that was odd but at that point just accepted it and thought I’d look back at it once my order was placed. I stuck with the two appetizers. One was oysters. One was gater bites. She asked if I wanted the gater all fried, all grilled, or half and half. I said all grilled. When she left I looked back at the Unilocal check-in offer and it said nothing about having to order an entrée. When my food came out I it was half and half fried and grilled. I accepted it and ate it. I planned to try the Unilocal offer with her again at the end for a dessert and show it to her. But by then, I had been there so long and was a little frustrated, so I just decided not to even try to fight that battle. To his credit, the seater(maybe he was also a manager, I’m not sure) came back out again to apologize and gave me a 10% discount coupon. I wish I had gotten his name to give him full credit because if the whole restaurant was run by him or with his sort of dedication, it would be a much more impressive place. So I’d rate his customer service 5 stars. My server’s customer service 2 stars. The view from where I sat 5 stars. The food, 3 stars. And overall, I give it 3 stars.

The food is superb! We order the crawfish étouffée, jazzy crab cakes plater and gator tail bites. I loved my crab cake. My man love his étouffée so much. The gator tail, it’s so so. Nothing special. Service is ok. The only minus is the appetizer come out very late, as if it was dessert.

Tonight the wife and I decided to try this place out due to the previous reviews on Unilocal.Well I am happy to say that it was an amazing decision. We got there around 7pm when it just started to get crowded, but even with all the people, the food was on point. The service was fast, the food came fast, the food tasted amazing, and the free desert since we «checked in» on Unilocal made the experience nearly perfect. I am not a really big guy, but I am bigger than the average person, so even though I want to give this place 5 stars… I hold back because I wasn’t full. I ate the fried oyster po-boy and my wife had the shrimp gumbo. Both were excellent choices, but I wasn’t full after the oyster po-boy. Honesty that is all I have to complain about, either than the food not being enough, it is a must to go here to eat. I highly recommend eating here

Came to New Orleans in 2014 and this was our first stop. It was so good that we made it our last meal also. Now I’m back 2 years later and it’s still as delicious. Just had the Taste of New Orleans and the cajun jambalaya pasta. We couldn’t have been greeted by better food.

On our last day, I was craving just a good bowl of reds & rice. Decided to give this spot a chance and I’m glad we did. My gf had the shrimp po boy and she loved it. seasoned fried shrimp on crispy French bread. I started with a cup of seafood gumbo which had a flavorful dark roux and a good balance of seafood. Then my beans came. had an andouille link included and some garlic bread on top. I left filled and satisfied. Our server was also very pleasant. When you check in on Unilocal ya get a free glass of wine or a dessert and they looked good!

This was very good. Both the blackened chicken and the steak were delicious. The rice and beans were very good too. My husband and I got a window seat so it was entertaining watching the people on Bourbon Street. Very nice restaurant.

New to NOLA, but if this is the definition of authentic New Orleans cuisine, I’m disappointed. Had«taste of New Orleans» which is basically a sample dish. The red bean and smoked sausage was a bit salty, the Gumbo was OK(had better) and the Étouffée‘ was cold. Not impressed.

I really was enjoying myself with my family and was really looking for some good NOLA food. Although it was rather late, we stop in to try it out. I must say that it was very reasonable and good. Although there were lines(Bourbon St. can be very busy at night), we did not have a long wait. We were seated in the upstairs section of the restaurant and the one thing I didn’t care for is the darkness and the inability to really look and review the place. Heck, I had a hard time reading the menu, lol. I can’t remember what everyone ordered(it was seven of us), but I ordered the fried oysters. The servings were enough for two people. The oysters were good, but a bit greasy. It came with hush puppies and cole-slaw, which I’m really picky about slaw because of a bad experience, and fries. You know I always say everyone deserves second chances if its somewhat good. When in NOLA, there are so many choices. If I run out of those choices, I will be back.

I was looking for a place to eat lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I was waived in by a server outside who promised me it was going to be one of the best authentic creole food I would eat. I was a bit skeptical as usual with anyone who says this but once I was seated I was greeted and my order taken in no time. I had the blackened chicken platter that came with greens, red beans and rice and I added an extra side of gumbo. Boy was this delicious! I had to give the doorman who waived me in from off the street his props. Menu 3⁄5 Service 4⁄5 Taste 4⁄5 Location 5⁄5

Places like this one are a great hole in the wall find! As you approach there is a host out front eager to seat you, and that he did. We ordered a few beers from a local brewery, Abita Ambers. Good beer, I would definitely try again. I decided to get the taste of New Orleans which featured gumbo, crawfish etoufee, and red beans with smoked sausage. The red beans had a really nice heavy smoke flavor to them, the texture reminded me of refried beans. The crawfish etoufee was stock based and was very flavorful as well. The gumbo was gumbo perfection, all served with a few slices of buttered bread for dipping. Next trip I will have to head back to Bourbon Street and try that smoked duck on the menu!

I worked off my meal before even sitting down. In fact, I lost track of how many times we walked up and down Bourbon Street — and even into another Olde Nola Cookery down the block — searching for this place. Locals we asked for directions weren’t helpful. They just wanted us to visit their bar instead, which wasn’t an option when we were meeting our friends. At long last, after a nearly 20-minute hunt, we walked into a restaurant named Oceania Grill… which is apparently Olde Nola Cookery, too. I don’t even know. Tables were incredibly compact and I hardly had room, but our server was super friendly and helped ease the stress I was feeling from trying to find the restaurant for so long. I ordered the blackened chicken poboy and was apparently already supposed to know that blackened anything equates to heavy spice. I had no idea since I never order blackened things. I was just looking for grub not pulled from the sea. Fortunately, my friend didn’t want her poboy’s mustard so I used that to cut the spice a bit and it was otherwise enjoyable. I also tried a taste of fried catfish and that was surprisingly really good. I probably could’ve eaten that for my meal! Noted: Do not hate catfish. While the meal was pretty good, I probably wouldn’t return. Nothing about the spot popped out as distinctive or worthy of a second look.

While a bit touristy and a really compact dining space, I had an excellent experience with my food and sever. My visit to the Olde Nola Cookery didn’t start off well. For one, they have two locations. For some reason my phone’s GPS for the Bourbon Street restaurant kept taking me to neither of them. Secondly, their sign says Oceana, not Olde Nola Cookery. If you are already lost, the signage doesn’t help. I was initially bummed when the sandwich I was menu stalking was no longer on their menu. It was the blackened catfish poboy. I was also a little apprehensive about trying catfish. It didn’t seem too appealing based on Google search descriptions. I’m SO glad I decided to ask about the sandwich and give it a try. I took a few creative substitutions to my poboy leaving the remoulade, coleslaw and dressing on the side. My blackened catfish poboy my style was perfect. The catfish was prepared so well. It was buttery and light and joyous. The bread was super fresh. The pickles and onions and hot sauce I added just sealed the deal. The sandwich was huge and came with fries. I struggled to finish the sandwich but had to finish it since it was so good. The poor, tasty crispy seasoned fries went to waste. The server was so friendly, attentive and helpful. I’m so glad she allowed for that substitution. Sure this place is a little touristy, but if that’s what a touristy poboy tastes like, I’m cool with it.

We sat on the balcony and were treated to a nice view of all the interesting characters and activities on Bourbon Street below. Started with a frozen hurricane, which was decent. Split an order of oysters as an appetizer. They were a good size and served with cocktail sauce, horseradish and lemon, which was needed since the oysters themselves didn’t have much of a taste. I also had a bowl of gumbo which was very tasty(though I expected some spice?). I especially enjoyed it as a dipping sauce for my bread! Not sure how this compares to other Cajun places in New Orleans but if this same food were in my town, I would not hesitate to come back, and regularly!
