The best BBQ I’ve had in Nola. This is a little gem as its a pop up restaurant. Chicken, rib, pork and brisket were all delicious. As were the sides, especially the cheesy potatoes and broccoli salad. I didn’t love the coke slaw but I prefer cream based cole slaw and not vinegar. Highly recommend if Nola Q is open by you soon

It’s no wonder why they say New Orleans has some of the best food in the country. Since Hurricane Katrina, this city has rebuilt the vibrant personality it had once been known for. Still and more famous than ever, NOLA remains to be the food and music capital of the country. NOLA-Q is what makes a tourist such as myself look forward to travelling. Fueled from passion and desire for great BBQ, the Chef and owner John was able to bring some of those great flavors to New Orleans. There are two locations that this pop-up restaurant serves in, the one we happened to dine in tonight was inside the restaurant Coulis. The food is amazing, perhaps some of the best bbq we’ve eaten. We ordered a 3 meat combination plate with 2 sides, selecting the brisket, ribs and sausage as well as the cheesy potatoes and the broccoli salad. The meats were flavorful, succulent and juicy. Everything was wonderfully prepared and not over cooked. The food came out fast and John was very attentive to our needs, making sure that we liked the food and had enough to drink. By the time we wolfed down the plate, we knew we could go for a second round. After all, it isn’t everyday you get to experience great BBQ. We ordered another meat plate and also tried the pulled pork which was extremely tender, juicy and packed with flavor. NOLA-Q is one of the most underrated restaurants in New Orleans. It’s a hidden gem and easily one of the best reasons to come visit. If you’re a local resident of New Orleans, I’m envious of you.

Great pop up spot at Coulis on Prytania — amazing brisket and even better ribs and yummy sides. They are at Pals on Sat nights also. Really reasonable prices and wonderful meats and fix in’s — don’t miss it!

3.5 actually… Now I know what a «pop-up» is. It’s an establishment that looks like it just POPPEDUP .also might POPOUT just as quick … but anyway I always look for good barbecue. The best part is the lady taking orders — — - she is a gem!!! You can miss it — — there is not much to show it exists. Now to the food … 1. It is smoked which is a plus … 2. the chicken was better than the ribs & brisket 3. you get a lot … it was ok not great but worth another visit

First, this place is easily missed. The sign is not on the actual building but on a sidewalk marquee. I drove by a few times because I wasn’t sure since the building is another restaurant. Once I walked up I almost decided against NOLA-Q because it was completely empty. I’m so glad I decided to try it out(I really wanted barbecue). The ribs and brisket were soooooo good. I love meats that are smoked with a dry rub and not slathered in sauce. Good thing the sauce comes on the side. The beans were pretty tasty but they were out if the cheesy potatoes, hence 4 stars and not 5. The owner did make up for it with an extra rib. As a tourist I would return and appreciate the other reviews. I only hope that the owner figure out a way to make the sign more visible.

The pulled pork is AMAZING(seriously the best I’ve ever had)…AND in the neighborhood(Uptown) on a Friday night! It’s a pop-up at Couli’s on Prytania so get it while you can! St Louis ribs… probably the tastiest and most meatiest I ever had as well. I’m not crazy about brisket but we got it anyway… and guess what… it was delicious. This place is serious about bringing REALBBQ to NOLA. Don’t forget to hit the Mayfair before or after… or BYOB!

NOLA-Q is a pop-up BBQ joint that operates within Coulis Restaurant(Fridays, 5−9pm) and Pal’s Lounge(Saturdays, 5−10pm). Like previous Unilocalers have mentioned, this BBQ is super finger-lickin good! You also get a lot of bang for your buck… I got a HUGE half chicken with 2 sides for just under $ 11. The BBQ chicken was perfectly cooked — dank, juicy and flavorful. The chicken was so good it barely needed any bbq sauce. In fact, I only used it because I enjoyed the flavors of the yellow-ish sauce so much. As my sides I chose broccoli salad and cheesy potatoes. I’m not really a big fan of uncooked broccoli, but the salad was good enough. The cheesy potatoes however… I could eat piles and piles of it! I checked out the menu again and noticed you could buy it by the pint or quart. This could be a bad thing for my waistline! I will definitely be returning for more NOLA-Q!

NOLA-Q is a BBQ pop up that serves 6pm til around 9pm on Friday at Coulis Restaurant and Saturday at Pal’s Lounge. They offer moist and lean brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken and sausage. They have some pretty decent sides which are a bit better than some other BBQ joints in the area. The service at Coulis seems more restaurant style while the Pal’s is more bar grub style. The brisket is certainly among the best I’ve had in the New Orleans area but doesn’t quite reach up to the level of the Joint but its the closest of any I’ve had. They offer three BBQ sauces: mustard, St. Louis sweet and spicy chipotle. I find I like to combine the mustard and chiptotle for my brisket eating pleasure. Definitely some good BBQ and worthy of checking out!

Returned with two friends on 12÷12÷13. Same excellent service and food. Still no room for dessert! They now accept credit cards.

This is a new«pop up» BBQ restaurant venture that just started uptown close to the Mayfair bar and Touro at Coulis Restaurant after 6pm, currently on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays! For my first visit I had a plate of lean brisket and BBQ chicken with a side of Smoked BBQ Beans and Cheesy Potatoes. The brisket was smoked to perfection and we loved the BBQ beans. I plan to visit again next week.
