Hmmm… okay, here’s the situation: this would be a pretty great place if it wasn’t on Bourbon St. We ended up here one night after a day of hanging out in the Quarter and we were pretty surprised– the staff is friendly, drinks aren’t crazy expensive and there was a live band rocking out and actually playing listenable music and not TOP40. The main problem is the crowd. Of course, you’re on Bourbon, so everyone is rowdy and loud and drunk. The place is fairly small and it was crowded, so people were pushing each other out of the way to get to the bar. There are tables and chairs throughout the venue, that are almost in the way when there are a lot of people and a band is playing. I think if this bar was a little more«off the beaten path» it would be more stars, but I’m sure the owners are making their money, so what do I know? Stop in to see a band, but brace for a Bourbon crowd.

When I was in NOLA, I stopped in here nightly to catch a set from the wonderful jazz bands they had playing. You can’t record any of it and you have to buy 1 drink per set but they have good wine and it’s a fun atmosphere to be in to enjoy some good jazz music!

Very good. It was a bit annoying we couldn’t take pictures or tape it, and he would signal in the middle of the performance totally breaking the Jazz atmosphere but they were very talented players. The drinks were pretty good as well.

Good sounds, but they dont serve food and you must order 1 drink per set. Daiquiri and mojito was 9.75 each.

Don’t go here. The only uppity place in the quarter. Walked in to use the restroom and get a drink and was accosted… sober. Maybe that was the problem, but I’m thinking not.

Stopped in on a Bourbon St. stroll. Jamil Shariff was doing his thing with bandmates as usual and didn’t disappoint. Shots in real shot glasses, great crowd, CDs available, and quality jazz! Its on the main drag, but its a world apart from the nonsense. A must-see when you visit NOLA!

We wanted to listen to some authentic Jazz while in New Orleans and we found this place in Bourbon street. We didn’t stay very long Drinks are pricey and nothing special. Service was ok, also nothing special for what they charge. The music was great, Jamil Sharif and band were playing and they were quite good. Have said that, they were soooooo concerned about people filming and photographing that made it a little stiff. As soon as they would stop singing or playing their instrument they went on watchdog mode, scanning the room and telling people(mostly by the window outside) not to film them. At one point they stop playing until whoever was filming to stop. So, I understand is the bar rule or whatever but the band should be entertaining and chilled out, have the waiters telling people to stop. Overall, not the best experience but not terrible either

We stopped in here for about 15 minutes and had a glass of wine. They had a William Hill Chardonnay which is basic and pretty common. The music was good and it is the main reason I would go here. Our bartender was Stacy and she was nice and attentive. All in all, it’s a typical Bourbon Street bar with live music and that’s not a bad thing. I just found nothing that stuck out to me that had a «Wow» factor.

After attempting to get into Preservation Hall for 3 days, we stumbled upon this gem for our fix on live jazz. We had so much fun here! Jamil Sharif and the band was fantastic and entertaining to watch. They played a great medley of classics and what also seemed like original songs. The only awkward thing was when people would start recording(which you cannot do, the sign is way too small and hidden) he would wave his finger«no» with a stone cold stare. We could tell he does it a lot and after the 3rd time, he seemed more and more irritated. It was really awkward for everyone. I think the bouncer should inform people as they come in so everyone is aware. Our waitress was lovely and recommended a tasty and strong drink(St. Germain, prosecco and strawberries) which had me feeling buzzed after 3 sips! If you don’t necessarily enjoy standing on a long line in the smothering heat or thunderous rain for a standing room only show, then check out Jamil Sharif and his band.

Good place to see some jazz. There is no cover, so you are obligated to buy some drinks to create revenue. The band is very good here, they are tight and talented. Service was very good. On busy nights you will be packed in pretty tight, but it is lots of fun.

So the Jazz was good, so I almost feel bad for the one star. The bathroom? Revolting. Puddle of water around the toilets. The bar? Floating in a pool of nasty. The drinks? Way overpriced. It’s bourbon street, but does it HAVE to be icky?

The builtin urine and vomit moat that circles bar is absolutely disgusting. If I hadn’t already purchased beer and wanted to listen to jazz at the many, many, many other establishments on Bourbon I would have I tailed it out of there. I should dip my shoes in hand sanitizer. This place is disgusting.

Do NOT come here. Worst bar on Bourbon street by far! Absolutely terrible customer service, if I could give them 0 stars I WOULD! My husband and I came in sat at the edge of the bar and got served promptly. We order a glass of wine and a mojito. The mojito came and it tasted like vodka 7 with a mint leaf so we nicely sent it back. We never send back anything BTW, so we felt bad but this was clearly not even close to a mojito. The waitress was extremely rude saying«um okay, mojito isn’t supposed to have vodka in it». She took it up to the bar and then turned around and brought our original drink back to us saying the bartender wouldn’t remake it. No apology, no sincerity, nothing. That my friends is POOR Customer Service. We paid $ 9 for a mojito and the bartendar won’t remake it? We didn’t order a $ 9 vodka 7! Bartenders are incompetent and don’t know how to make a proper mojito. Also, waitress with long dark hair is rude and insincere. We will gladly go to every other bar on Bourbon street. You’re welcome.

After trudging through Bourbon for a few hours and being inundated by smoke and shots the boyfriend and I were looking for a bit of an escape, we both love jazz music so when walking by we heard the music and decided to stop in. First of all, this place is a total dive(which again, we love) and it’s crowded in with tables and staff right up to the stage. They do have a drink minimum, but many places in New Orleans do. We ended up staying for several hours through two different shows. Both bands were great, very different but really talented musicians. I will definitely remember this place on future trips! The drinks were a little on the pricey side, but nothing outrageous. All in all, when you want to sit down and just listen to some great jazz music without the craziness or throwing on a suit jacket, this is the place for you.

Pros: One of the last places for live music on Bourbon. Extremely talented Jazz musicians. Table seating so you can rest your feet from all that Quarter walking. Cons: Drink minimum. Not the friendliest of staff for a place that requires table service. No video recording allowed. They had a big sign behind the stage which I missed(Bourbon st. drinking) and had my phone out which got me a finger wagging from the band leader. My mistake! Meh. If I’m looking for a seated Jazz experience while in the Quarter, I’ll head over to Preservation hall or The Davenport Lounge first, but if I must, this place works too. Just don’t pull out your phone!

This was a total accident hit because Preservation Hall was sold out for the night so we headed towards Bourbon and bam there was Maison Bourbon. We took a chance, got a table, and nice cocktail and it was well worth it. The band was sooo amazing and put on a great set. Being there made me missed music and is gonna forced me to turn off the radio of looped songs of Taylor Swift and Iggy Azalea to listen to more class throwback music. The band was lively and the music was amazing. It was a great way to cap off our night.

One of my favorite places on Bourbon because it’s not just about the drinking, but also the music. To that point, the live jazz is quite good, and all for no cover. While the drinks are all on the spendier side, even after 2 or 3 drinks, you’re only at a point where you’ve effectively paid a modest cover charge as part of the markup. And the minimum tab is only 1 drink per set. Although you could say that there’s a touristy ambience here just like all the other joints on Bourbon, this space is fairly airy and spacious, while packing in décor evocative of New Orleans’s jazz legacy. There’s plenty of space to chill out, whether with a date at a table for two, or at the bar going down the entire length of the room. And overall, the crowd is far more sophisticated than the beaded, boob-flashing types you’d expect when things get especially rowdy outside.
