The 1st place I came on a recent trip to the Quarter. Someone told me to order the hand grenade from Tropical Isle only, so I came upon this location of the franchise first. Tried the basic hand grenade and didn’t think it was all that strong. As far as taste, I preferred the hurricane better. Maybe I’ll try it with no ice next time.

Got my hand grenade here. This is a «little» Tropical Isle that has hand grenades and other drinks. Come in. Get your drink, throw your grenade in the overhanging net at the entrance, and take cover. The hand grenade is sweet and strong. If you are brave you can get it without ice. This will be a sugar shock and liquor rush but well worth the extra few dollars.

I really enjoyed this stop on Bourbon Street. We came on a Saturday afternoon and sat on the upstairs balcony looking over Bourbon Street. It had all the same good drinks as the original, but it was less crowded which I liked. Must try a hand grenade when in New Orleans.

Bartender Al was so great! Immediately greeted us and was extremely kind and welcoming as well as very funny. The drinks were good as was the music. Definitely will be recommending!

After seeing everyone walking around Bourbon Street with the«Grenade» drink in their hands I decided to stop in and get one. The place is part of a chain on Bourbon street, and it was small but comfortable. A young man was playing live music, and did a good job. The staff was friendly. The Grenade cost $ 9, and comes as a low calorie version, the regular version, and a slushy version. I’m not much of a drinker, but what little I had tasted ok. It’s advertised as the strongest drink on Bourbon Street, but I don’t know if that’s true.

A bastion of sanity on Saturday afternoon Bourbon street. We came here to find our boys who had run off to watch the football while we were pottering — and we found them tucked in a quiet garden eating much-better-than-average steak po’ boys and drinking craft beer. Whaat? But this is Bourbon street, it’s supposed to be horrid. Our be-bearded server was charming and unpushy, the Gin & Tonic’s were delicious and the peaceful respite from the Bourbon Street Vomit smell was quite remarkable! I’m sure it gets much busier later on but for a mid afternoon drink and a snack — this place is definitely worth keeping an eye out for

I got me a cold hand grenade here. Service was fast and bartenders were nice. This is a like a satellite bar from the main Tropical Isle bar so if you want to go to the original one, it’s down the street.

Great drinks! Definitely a stop on the bar crawl when you’re in NOLA! Our bartender Al was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable– he gave my friend and I a lot of recommendations for our time in New Orleans. Would certainly come back!

Awesome drinks — obviously I’m talking about the hand grenade! They were out of the frozen kind so they just had on the rocks, but it wasn’t bad. Anywhere on Bourbon St is a fun time, but this place is great to get your night started!

I stopped at the first Tropical Isle I saw without realizing it wasn’t the original smh. i ordered my hand grenade frozen and at first it really didn’t taste like much, not that it was bad, just not much flavor. Although it felt like it burnt my tongue. It was bizarre. As we walked around New Orleans it started to melt and get stronger and stronger. Once it was completely liquid it was so strong that I couldn’t even drink it. I poured out basically half of the grenade portion of the cup. Oh well, I can say I’ve had one now.

I don’t usually go on bourbon street but I got dragged down there for a kind of meet and greet with prospective coworkers and friends. I was initially taken aback to the fact that we were going to tropical isle because of its rampant trademarking of its over sugary hand grenade but was pleasantly surprised when the bartender Al made the entire experience completely enjoyable. I have to be honest– I would have kept our group moving slowly towards the edge and out of the quarter had he not made our time so fun. We ended up staying for quite some time. If you’re a local and need a good Bourbon spot to add to your chaperoning tour for visiting friends, I would recommend this place. I’ll totally go back.

The grenades taste like a Midori Sours. Bill our bar tender was awesome. The establishment was average 3 or 4 stars. But Bill is the one that deserves 5 stars. He was very entertaining. He answered all of our questions pertaining to where to go, see, and taste. He was hilarious. If he had a tour I’d take it. Haha

All I kept hearing about was«the grenade» and how I had to try it. So, I did. It had potential, but was a little too sweet for my liking. That said, when it hits you it’s supposed to hit you… ya… nothing. Am I an alcoholic? LOL!

Hand Grenade is a staple in the Big Easy. You can get it either on ice or blended. Getting it blended seems to be most popular, but beware! Brain freezes!

As a tourist I came here for the Hand Grenade… which is a famous and tasty drink served in a ridiculous plastic cup that many people seem to just throw away. If I could get it in a regular cup and pay $ 1 this place would be a 4. The bar itself is kind of a dive without much atmosphere. I imagine most people just walk up and order their hand grenade and then leave.

They have all the typical drinks plus the hand grenade of course. It is quite strong even though it’s really sweet with a melon taste. $ 9 for the drink and a souvenir cup. Yum yum. There are a bunch of locations on Bourbon street, I believe. This one gets four stars only because the guitar player was awesome! I tried to look for the live cam so I could be a dork and wave to my friend who told me about it but I have a feeling it was pointed at the guitar player and I didn’t want to be that person. :D

They need one of these on 6th Street in Austin. I went here a couple Novembers ago for a bachelorette party and we discovered the«skinny» hand grenades they have here. Tasted amazing! Not sure how skinny they actually are but I was a fan and I think had about 4 over the course of the weekend, I could not get enough! I didn’t try the regular one but I think the skinny tasted delicious and was not overly sweet or anything.

Just one word — Grenades! Located on Bourbon Street, this place sells the sweetest yet deadliest drink in town. At another bar, a guy called the Grenade — «diabetes in a cup». He may have been right because I ordered one on the rocks and instantly got sick. It’s yummy if you like really sugary drinks but I probably would never have another one again.
