Wow I really enjoyed coming to Fat Catz! The reason why I’m giving this five stars is because of their awesome cover band! I recently came here on a girls trip and we did some exploring around Bourbon Street and was lured not only by the music but the bouncers as well. We decided to try it. The first night we came the cover band played 70s, 80s, and 90s music. It was awesome, they knew how to get the crowds going! The last two nights had such a large crowded even last night! As far as buying alcohol I did not purchase any but my friends had ordered a Michelada and one of the bartenders did not know what that was. There will be shot girls coming your way for $ 3 vodka shots, it’s not just advertised here but at every bar, so just avoid them and say no if you don’t want one. Didn’t care to purchase alcohol since it comes in a cup. Get a fish bowl or hand grenade for the night. I’m not sure why people are not giving this place 5 stars but this was a great atmosphere and my group enjoyed themselves very much.

This bar was so much fun. Me and my friend Dave came here after our friends got tired and went home. We stopped in because we heard the cover band playing some 90’s music. No cover charge so that was a plus. We were down. We walked in and they played all the music from my youth. I mean he killed Backstreet Boys. He was moving and shaking and just had the crowd so hype. He called all the bachelorettes up to dance and make jokes about marriage. This guy was cracking jokes left and right and he could sing. I mean they played so many good songs and I cant even remember them all. Dave grabbed us some beers and we enjoyed this place for a while. It was well worth the stop in. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but stop on in and enjoy yourself for a while.

Bands are decent but I got screwed on my vodka soda it was $ 11(seriously). I didn’t tip the band as I was pissed at the bartender. Make sure you ask how much before you order — I assume the bartender is either adding her own or the bands tip into that $ 11

FATCATZ bar is without question, one of the best places to chill and groove to very good renditions of classic rock favorites! If you love classic rock music, then this is definitely the place to go on Bourbon street. We went there on a Friday and it was totally rocking! The band was simply amazing belting out favorite oldies by Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Lynrd Sknyrd, Chicago, Grand Funk Railroad etc. The crowd was generally above 40 though there were quite a few younger folks too. The lead singer was a real cool guy in shorts sporting dark glasses with a very good voice. So good in fact, that during the break I requested him for their business card to see if they could come to San Francisco and do a gig for my wife’s 50th birthday. The band is called RockBox. The lead guitarist had magic fingers, playing tunes which sounded almost like the original cut! The guy on the keyboard was also fantastic, his fingers simply flying on the keys belting out amazing sounds. The place is mostly a bar serving all kinds of drinks and had a good selection of beers. There was no cover charge either on weekdays or weekends like most other bars on Bourbon street. I ended up visiting Fat Catz three nights of our 5 night stay in New Orleans. It should be noted that this band plays only on the weekends. On weekdays, there was another group playing classic rock but did not sound anywhere close to RockBox. Though they start playing around 7PM, it really gets going after 9PM. I would highly recommend this place if you love classic rock.

My stars are for the music. Went in on a Tuesday night. The band was so good! High energy, great music and good fun! I went in solely because of the music. Drinks are strong but nothing special. Just go if you want to hear good covers.

Every time I go to New Orleans I come to this place. Today I flew in town from Atlanta and come to find out my bags were lost. I had to end up going to Target in order to find something decent to wear to go out tonight. My friend and I entered fat catz(our first stop of the night). It was an older crowd and the doormen told us it starts getting pretty hype around 12:30. In the meanwhile my friend and I went to a club further down Bourbon street. I forgot the name of the club but they were playing country music and it was a predominantly white, older crowd. My friend and I started having conversation with a couple of individuals and then we decided to head back to fat catz after awhile(with two of the older white gentlemen from the previous club). Initially there was no communication between any of the two gentlemen and I, I was just dancing by myself having a good time. A couple songs later I start conversing with one of the men and 5 minutes later a black guy with dreads tells me «the manager says there are no working girls allowed». I look at him puzzled like«what does he mean working girls?, he must have mistaken me for someone else. Moments later a white man with rotten teeth appears. He seems to have some sort of cognitive disabilities. He keeps reiterating that I have to leave and when I ask him why there is no solid explanation. He says he is going to call law enforcement in which I GLADLY welcome the notion. I try to use the bathroom in the meanwhile and the black guy with dreads blocks the door. Seconds later a white female police officers and a white male police officer are in the bathroom. I tell them I have to go and they oblige. When I come out I walk towards the exit and they follow me. I was like what’s going on? The male officer says«it’s a private club and he doesn’t want you in here». Mind you, I have been in this club MULTIPLE times. There was no issue until an older affluent WHITE male and I started engaging in conversation. I have NEVER been mistaken for a «working girl» and until this night have never heard the term before. I had on a THICK sweater, tights, and boots. I have never experienced racism or prejudice before in my life and it’s a very terrible feeling. For all intensive purposes I am a black female. Do not patronize this establishment.

Love places with live music. I recommend a weekend. Didn’t enjoy the band that played during the week as much. Fairly cheap drinks. Most bands take requests. Great bourbon street spot.

Loved this place! Great music playing, good mix of well known songs and lesser-known songs to expand your horizons a bit. Good atmosphere. Crowd was a little sketchy, but that’s what makes for the best clubs. Didn’t drink anything here so I can’t comment on that.

Fat Catz is dark and grimy with little seating but features The Connection band regularly. Not your dixieland band. They keep this hole in the wall rocking with soul and people dancing. Last night I think I counted 10 band members. Singing all the popular hits from the 70’s onward. «Brickhouse» and«Cloud 9» to name a few. They usually have a male and female vocalist. No cover

The people were great, nice, hospitable, service at the bar was great(I remember because I only had pop: D) but the karaōke was a tough crowd. It wasn’t really as happening as I expected. Coming from Vegas, maybe my expectations were high? But if you’re looking for a fun, interactive experience where the crowd gets into it with you, this was not the experience I had. Every one was disinterested in everyone else and that’s not what I’m used to, where everyone is cheering everyone else on. The staff from the security to the bartenders were all great!

Late September 2015(Thurs night, 9 p.m.-ish) Bourbon St is gross; don’t go there. Having said that: we passed this place on our way back to the hotel and the music was great. There was no cover, no drink minimum, so we entered and stood inside fairly close to the door and enjoyed some top-notch R&B covers. Really good singers and band. Why stand so close to the door, you wonder? Thanks for asking! There were definitely some grifter types waiting to pounce further in the room, in the darkness. I happen to like my purse and the ID/money within. But.the music was best we heard while trying to run past Bourbon St.

Rocking-n-rolling, dancing, and singing along to the 70s and 80s will guarantee a fun night ahead at Fat Catz! The regular cover band here rocks everyone’s socks off and then some! They do a great job on bringing back the good olé days of rock and roll! Fat Catz is a casual, no-frills, no cover charge bar that welcomes all and the best part is the awesome rock band! I love jamming to U2, Journey, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Aerosmith, etc! The rock band is consistent, get the crowd riled up and even take requests throughout the night. You’ll see all sorts of characters in the crowd here so people watching is always entertaining. I guess all the years of clubbing have made my ears more sensitive to loud music so I always have a pair of ear plugs handy(better safe than sorry right?!) — I don’t want to lose my hearing anytime soon! Drinks are overpriced here so I come with one in hand. Stick with beer and you’ll be fine. Beware the hustle of the test tube shot girls because some of them are overly aggressive in their tactics with their shots for all mentality. There is a ladies bathroom attendant for soap & towels, which I don’t mind– hey everyone’s gotta earn a living in one way or another. Keep your valuables/purses/wallets close to you as it sometimes gets crowded and a little too close for comfort. Rule of thumb– I’m always paranoid and cautious of pickpockets/panhandlers when in the French Quarter!

Fun dance club. Not much space with how many people were there, but it’s MG… so get comfortable right? Bathrooms were small and dirty. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side, but whatcha gonna do. Right?

We love Fat Catz. It is our regular go-to place at night on Bourbon Street. They always have a great band that covers 70s music, with preference it seems to Southern Rock. The musicians are excellent, and are great entertainers. My only reservations about this place are(1) the drinks are overpriced and not as strong as those you get on the street, and(2) they have aides in the restroom who are quite aggressive about helping you(even if you don’t want their help) and they do expect a tip whether or not you accept their help. But, all-in-all, Fat Catz is a great bar with great entertainment.

This is a rip off tourist trap. They charge about double the going rate for drinks. The place is filthy. My wife couldn’t even use the bathroom here it was so nasty. The band was OK, too bad they have to work here. Don’t waste your money here. One of the worst places on Bourbon Street.

Woof. Smokey, dirty, dark, and not good bands play here. It’s a typical Bourbon Street tourist-trap. But definitely not the worst. At least here, there’s plenty of room to move around and dance. And they have somewhat clean bathrooms.

I hadn’t been here since I was right out of college, but we stopped in for a drink as we were making our way down bourbon after the crescent city classic. They always seem to have live music, which is a very nice touch. It was quick and easy to get our drinks, and the bartenders seemed nice. When I used the restroom, it was nicer than most bourbon street bar restrooms; however it had a hilarious sign inside that I just had to take a picture of(attached). Apparently, people like to smoke pot in restrooms? Honestly, I didn’t know places had that issue. Very amusing.

This is a touristy dive bar. It is filthy for sure. The crowd is fun, and the house band late night is talented. They play the same set list regularly, so you know what you will get when you go in(usually) They have the ability to read the crowd and can keep the party going. They throw in alot of hair metal, and take requests. They even managed to crank out a nice rendition of Sara Smile when my husband asked. I’m not sure what the bartenders do with all that alcohol because they cant seem to make anything I ask for. Some of them have specialty drinks, this is a gamble. Stick with the basics, and you will be fine
