I used to come here all the time when it was still kakkoii and was excited to try the new menu. I’d eaten at other little Tokyo locations and enjoyed the sushi and ramen. I ordered the only ramen on the menu here and got an overwhelming bowl of soup with way too much going on, soggy noodles, and pieces of broccoli(?!) Nothing at all like the more traditional ramen at their carrolton location. Overall I was unimpressed.

This small restaurant tucked away on maple street is a great find. The sushi was on point. We had the causeway roll, spicy tuna rainbow roll and the philly roll. The causeway roll with soft shell crab was the highlight. The Niku Udon was so bland and the meat was dry. The service was good enough that they replaced it with a much tastier chicken yaki undon. Which I would order again but took forever to get made.

I really want this place to be great, particularly because it is so close to my house. It has gone through a change in ownership and I think it is off to a weak start. The first time I ordered take out from here was great. Yet, every time I order the same menu items again, they always give me something different. Today I ordered the fresh salmon sushi expecting the 6 pieces of sushi I usually get. I went into the restaurant and noticed it said sashimi on my check, which I asked to be changed to sushi. The waitress went over to the sushi chef and asked him to change it. Yet, I still only got two balls of rice with salmon sashimi on top, hardly worth the amount of money I paid. I have also gotten the tuna poke salad twice and gotten different ingredients in it each time. I hope that it will make progress as it is still new, but right now it’s not off to a good start.
