I have taken in pants and shirts to get cleaned and have never had an issue! The owner is really nice and my clothes were ready is a timely manner. Reasonably priced as well.

This place was alright. The owner is literally the nicest guy, and the cleaning was fine. It wasn’t the best dry cleaning I’ve EVER had, but that was in Los Angeles from a Vietnamese lady. X Ray is as good as ANY dry cleaner I’ve found in New Orleans, if not better – most of the Uptown dry cleaning is rotten! So yeah, Uptown is not the best quality dry cleaning in the USA, but that’s okay. As far as I’m concerned, X-Ray is as good as they come.

My man Allen does my cloths right. I don’t know of a better cleaners uptown past the park. Its within walking distance from my house and prices are comparable to other cleaners uptown. They open early Saturday so you can bang out this errand quickly and then breakfast at Maple Street Patisserie… good way to start your Saturday!

Clothes come out clean, but they reek of chemicals — I used to think that the smell was inevitable but after further research I found out it just means they don’t clean/replace their fluid enough.

When I moved to New Orleans and was faced with the task of finding a dry cleaner, I turned to the Internet and its various rating sites, including Unilocal, all of which seemed to be filled with horrendous reviews of X-Ray Cleaners, which I found irritating since it was nearest to my work. When I asked my coworkers, however, which dry cleaner they used, one came forward and said she’d been going to X-Ray for years, so I gave the place a shot. I turned out to be … a completely normal dry cleaning experience! I took my clothes in, they dry cleaned them, and I picked them up – all for the same price I used to pay in Chicago at the no-frills(but completely competent) place I went there. The same set of circumstances has repeated itself a number of times since. To X-Ray’s discredit, one time they did not completely remove stain from one of my nice shirts, but with complete apologies they tried again(of course, at no extra cost) and cleaned it perfectly. Perhaps the variety of person who owns fine enough clothing to require frequent dry cleaning is by nature a bit whinier and possesses more feelings of entitlement than an average person, but even so I find the crybaby reviews about this place – which has consistently provided me with good service at a good price – ridiculous.

I don’t own very much in terms of «need to be dry cleaned» attire so I just mindlessly whizzed into this place with a two piece pant suit, a calf-length denim coat with faux fur trim, and a satin/synthetic material Kohl’s Vera Wang dress — all of which desperately needed dry cleaning because well, all these things had never been dry cleaned before. I would have to say they did a decent job on the suit, but it didn’t necessarily have any stains on it to begin with. The dress looked fine and as it did when I bought it(I had only worn it twice). Sadly the coat returned with more than few caked on stains(some kind of food stuff I assume) that I easily scrapped off with my fingernails — perhaps it was my fault for not calling attention to these stains, but that was still a bummer. Again, I’m no dry clean fiend but I felt this was a little on the pricier side. So my second experience with X-Ray Cleaners would turn out to be my last. I had foolishly left my Orpheus Ball gown simmer in its own red wine stains(in my defense it was Carnival! Dry cleaning was the last thing on my mind!) for a couple of weeks before I brought it to X-ray, but I was sure to confer with the employee at the counter(not the owner, the slight Caucasian man?) whether it would be possible to remove the wine stains or should I just consider trashing the dress. He assured he that it wouldn’t be a problem and he would have the owner work on it itself.
Well I return a few days later and the wine stains remained on the satiny portion of the dress — maybe two shades lighter, but definitely still very discernible. I was none too pleased and the same employee suggested I leave the dress for the owner to review and see if he could run it through whatever dry clean procedure again. Two days later the same employee informs me regrettably that the owner thinks he did a good enough job and further treatment would ruin the dress. I begrudgingly paid the $ 30 and the poor dress just sits in the back of my closet. I suppose this is partially my own fault, but I’m still a little miffed that I was assured that the wine stain removal would feasible when in fact was not. Maybe I’ll explore other dry cleaners to see if further success can be achieved but I’m already a little hesitant about getting my heart broken again(oh such the drama queen am I! But I really like this dress!). Oh and as aforementioned, the business hours are a bit inconvenient but I guess the trade off that it’s conveniently located by the universities. I suspect this is how they draw in most of their revenue and not because of their impeccable work or anything. ..
