I used to love this place. Key words: USEDTO. The noodle salad is amazing, sushi is decent, but the service is HORRRRRRRIBLE! The entire staff is rude and unwilling to fix mistakes. Today was the final straw. I ordered to go. Got all the way home to mid city(didn’t feel the need to unpack my order to check that it was correct — mistake!). Open my order and it is wrong. I ordered three rolls. Two were correct. One was not. I was given a crunchy roll(valued at$ 4.95) when I ordered an $ 11 speciality roll(other 2 were correct) Understandably I was upset. I called and got the waitress/hostess who immediately handed off the phone to Nancy, the manager. Nancy REFUSED to listen to me. She insisted that I got 3 rolls. That’s not the point. I agree I had 3. The issue is that I ordered a different one than the one that I was given. The receipt was the correct order so I had indeed overpaid(for the more expensive roll that they didn’t include). I explained this SEVERAL times and nancy insisted that she needed to speak to her chef to verify that I was telling the truth, essentially calling me a liar. Then she hung up on me! I called back and spoke with a man who was directed by Nancy to hang up on me(he audibly kept turning to talk to her after everything I explained on my second phone call). I would have been happy if they had made a note somewhere and given me a future credit for a free roll next time(I would have been happy to enjoy the food I was given-including the wrong roll, with a promise to fix it in the future– relieving my need to drive all the way back there). Now I am fuming as I head back there to seek my full refund because they refused to simply LISTEN when I described the roll I was given and make appropriate amends(or at the very least NOT accuse me of lying and hang up on me TWICE!) HORRIBLE customer service!

Hana Japanese Restaurant made my visit awesome. Friend and I sat at the sushi bar where the chef took our orders. Drinks got to us really quickly and any appetizers made its way as expedient as possible. Staff/chef here made sure everything was excellent. The food was just dynamic: they have everything for everyone. so, if sushi is not your thing, other Japanese cuisines were ready to make your mouth water! For us, two warm bowls of miso soup helped us through the rain outside. Normally, friend and I order more food than we can actually stomach. But at Hana, we were able to explicitly order ½ roll of the Hana Special Roll and ½ of Rainbow Roll. Yummy and enticing. Made our fun night that much more better. Thanks Hana!!!

One of my two favorite sushi restaurants in Nola. Love the box sushi, the salad and the salmon roe. Great service and ambience.

It’s as good as it was when we lived here many years ago! My favorites are the ceviche and the soft shelled crab tempura. But you can’t really go wrong with anything you order!

This is my go-to sushi spot. They give you free little noodle after you order, delice and different from anywhere else. I’ve had almost every roll but my favorites are the Tuna and tuna and No name. Fast service, friendly(but don’t talk really) but very kind. Top sushi place in my book!

This restaurant is so classy-looking! I came with the guy the other night and sat at the sushi bar. Miso soup and a little noodle salad to start off with and we shared the half rainbow roll, half hana roll. Oh. My. Goodness. Yummy in my tummy. The service was great, the restaurant was neat and clean, and everyone was just friendly. I think the prices are very reasonable, and that this would be a great place for a group… as long as some other group didn’t already make that choice. The menu is quite large, and there are SO many choices! I look forward to coming back!

My husband & I have been coming to Hana a little over 2 years now. It’s our absolute favorite place for sushi. We usually sit at the sushi bar when we’re alone but we often come in groups of 7 or more & they always accommodate us without a problem. In fact, if friends of ours go without us, they usually ask about our whereabouts. :) We LOVE the No Name roll, it’s the best! We also get the Louisiana roll often along with the Hana Special roll & the Mango Salmon roll. They also serve a free little noodle salad once you order…

Hana is my «go-to» sushi place for lunch in the city. Typically pretty fast service and the rolls are delicious. I’m a big fan or the eel with tamago and the yellowtail. The fish is fresh and the waitstaff is knowledgeable. The prices are middle of the road, so easy to get carried away and order too much! They have the standard«sushi and sashimi lunch specials» which come with miso and noodle or lettuce/ginger salad. The atmosphere is pretty forgettable and the bathroom is weirdly small. There’s a long sushi bar across the back left side and a TV for lunches alone. I’ve never had any of their prepared food, I only go for the sushi!

This is my favorite sushi place in town. Everything is delicious and fresh and you get a free little noodle salad while you wait. Service here is seriously lacking. I have been here a few times and never had great service. One time they even forgot to put in my bf’s order so he didn’t eat anything.

I can’t help but love Hana. What the restaurant lacks in general food quality and authenticity it more than makes up for in service and price. I would recommend specific foods, but I’ve tried enough of the menu that I would say most things are a good bet, and pretty standard for a mid-price sushi bar. I promise that if you come with ten dollars you will leave overwhelmingly full.

I’ve come here on a few occasions… The food is good. The service is good. Actually the service is great. They are always prompt and the head sushi chef always, always, always throws in a lil lagniappe.(Complete surprise every time). The rolls are too big for my taste. It makes it hard to eawt them.

Met a couple friends for dinner last night. We got gyoza and spring rolls to start, which were both pretty good. My SO and I got ½ Hana Special Roll and a Lobster Roll to split. We pretty much always get the special roll, but it was our first time trying the lobster roll. It was very good and I think we’ll add it to our rotation! Our service was surprisingly lacking this time around, though. Usually, they are spot on with the warm hand towels, water, and general attention. But they were a little slow and choppy with everything. But our food was delicious, so 4 starts it is!

I am ecstatic I found this place! Menu items are reasonably priced, especially for the location! You are definitely getting your money’s worth. I had the trio sashimi & noodle salad as an app. The trio sashimi was something I’ve never had before. I really like their style of presenting sashimi three ways. The noodle salad was good as well. Perfect balance of mayo if ya ask me! The tuna and salmon sashimi plates were fresh! Salmon was very buttery. The two rolls I ordered were very similar. The Who Dat & Mango Salmon roll. That was a little disappointing because I like variety. Otherwise, the rolls were good. Overall, enjoyable meal & I will be back :)

By no means the best or freshest sushi I have had in New Orleans. However, they have a great variety of rolls and pretty good kitchen dishes. But, there is really nothing they do that is special or makes them stick out. You can get in and out pretty fast. Not a bad place to stop if you’re looking for a quick lunch.

Loved their crawfish and spicy tuna rolls! The dynamite roll was ok. Overall great little sushi spot uptown. The wait wasn’t too long, service was good. Will definitely be returning.

Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in New Orleans. Fresh, delicious, and reasonable! The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, unlike a lot of the modern sushi fusion places you come across. I’ve been looking for a hole in the wall place like this for a while. So happy we stopped in! Will definitely be back :) We ordered: Hawaiian roll– OUTOFCONTROL!!! Amazing! Hana roll– Massive and so good! We ordered half and even that was a lot. Veggie roll– best veggie roll ever! The sprouts were a great touch.

I hate to have to give Hana 1 star because I’ve been going here since I was a kid, but after my last experience Hana deserves 1 star. I came in for a light lunch. I ordered a rainbow roll and my favorite sashimi, hokki clam. Obviously rolls vary from place to place but there are some pretty standard ones where you know what you were getting, a rainbow roll being one of them. Rainbow rolls are so named because of the various colors from different sushi and avocado. Sometimes some smelt roe or other colorful additives will be used for additional color. Hana’s horrible roll with the worst tasting fish I’ve ever seen had Hershey’s Chocolate Sauce and some Vanilla sauce spread on it!(See pictures) Now for the really bad. Hokki clam is my favorite. It a red and white colorful clam that is a little chewy. The four pieces of hokki clam I was served were so old and defrosted that I was afraid to eat them for safety. They were brown and pale red(see pictures) and wilted. I actually braved one for a few chews and almost threw up. I finally got the(hispanic) sushi chef’s attention and asked him what he meant by serving this to me. He said that he did indeed just defrost them in the microwave(thanks for that honesty) but that he didn’t know if they were bad or not!?! I asked him how a «sushi chef» sending out raw seafood could ever, ever ever take the risk sending out unfresh or possibly rotten raw shellfish to a customer. He was scared of my raised voice and sheepishly shrugged and slinked away. He took the hokki clam off of my bill even though I also questioned him about the disgusting rainbow roll and sent a cut up orange to say he was sorry. Never again.
