While this hotel is less expensive at $ 53/night, it is not worth it! Our room was dirty – both on the floor, all around the edges of the room, on top of the armoire, and in the bathroom. The bedspread had cigarette hole burns. Our patio door didn’t open. We stayed on the 4th floor and the hallway was thick with the smell of cigarette smoke. Inside our room was slightly better but when we turned on the heat/ac, the smell was atrocious! Needless to say, we had no ventilation since our patio door wouldn’t open. In the middle of the night there was a domestic brawl with loud yelling. It seems this hotel caters to low income residents, although there were others like us who had been attracted by the cheap price and the modern exterior. The desk attendant was very nice, but we felt like we were in the housing projects with a large number of the guests.

On checking in, my two friends and I were charged up-front for our 3 night stay, sight unseen. The double bed room was booked for 3, but we found towels for only 2, and soap/conditioner/shampoo packets for 1. I got more towels and soap from the front desk because the cleaning guy wasn’t helpful. The room itself was ok, clean sheets and standard fixtures. The armchair in the room was filthy, covered in something sticky. There was also a sticky spot by the sink on the carpet. The patio door was dirty in between the two panes of glass, blocking 1⁄3rd of our view. The coffee maker chord wasn’t long enough to reach an outlet, so we used it on the floor. The bathtub and sink were painted and the paint was ½ chipped off from use. The wifi signal was weak at best(located on every other floor). The continental breakfast was the cheapest selection of food I’ve seen offered by a mid-rate hotel. It consisted of white bread, jelly/margarine, corn flakes, fruit loops, and do-it-yourself waffles and syrup. Drinks were limited to coffee and sunny D(not even real OJ). The location was convenient, right off the highway and 20 min north of the city by car. Parking in the city is difficult however and there’s no public transportation from this location(as far as I saw).

This hotel was built in 1995 and purchased by the proprietors and renovated in 2014 as a knights inn franchise. After driving 6 hours I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the lobby of this knights inn. The Lobby was clean and well lit. The clerk at the desk was super friendly and extremely courteous. The floor had been freshly moped and the walls were bright and clean. Our room was a standard room. It had a small 32 inch flat screen tv. Microwave and fridge. There is a desk and an armoire with drawers. The walls are freshly painted and the carpets are new and clean. The room and bathroom were super clean too. The only con was there was no coffee maker in the room They serve a free continental breakfast which was toast, two types of cereal, coffee and Juice, and make your waffles. It’s a bit Spartan but fresh! The hotel is located next to a Waffle House and a Popeyes chicken. There is a cvs pharmacy across the street and a grocery store just two blocks away. It’s only about ten minutes to downtown New Orleans from here Overall it’s simple and clean and an excellent value.

Wow this hotel could use a makeover. Very old and hasn’t been renovated in a long time. Paint chipped walls, sour odors, poor water pressure, ants in the room and the list goes on. If you’re traveling with your significant other, do not stay here. Not the place for romance. I suggest trying to find something better.

First, let me just say if you’re looking to go cheap, this is your place. However, be aware of what that means… If they are ever looking for a place to shoot a post apocalypse move or an episode from the walking dead, this is the place! Seven floors of what I can only describe as a shambles… The rooms were very old with mold on the ceiling, cracked shower tiles, a mish mash of fixtures, old CRTTV’s, doors that stick or are hard to open, counter tops that look as old as I am, furniture that looks like they were picked up at a garage sale, stained floors, a paint job that looks like my kid did it, and a central elevator that made such racket I was afraid for my life(and I’ve been in combat)… I would skip it and pay the extra bucks elsewhere…
