The service was excellent and I enjoyed ½ of what was ordered but the other ½ was salty as sin.

From Houston, came here with family about 16 of us. Service was alright but my dinner was not good. Had the fried alligator for an appetizer which was delicious and for dinner I ordered the jambalaya pasta which left little to be pleased about. Zatarans in the box probably would’ve been better. Overall, if I had to pick I wouldn’t return.

Good food, loud atmosphere, great service by Ben. They were out of Bread Pudding, which was a big disappointment. The Alfredo was a bit overdone, nothing really outstanding about the food. Had it not been for the great service I’d have only given them one star.

This place has a nice atmosphere. The bartenders were nice and the bar was well stocked. The restaurant was always full whenever I passed by with customers that were mostly dressed in a casual way.

Wow. What a great new restaurant! We had the crawfish cakes &3 different orders of chargrilled oysters, everything was delicious. We had wait staff that was in training & the service was wonderful. Will definitely visit again.

Went here during Mardis Gras, really busy but the service was attentive and friendly and didn’t make us wait too long except for when we called for the bill. Not a big deal because of the packed restaurant. I do like the interior though! I ordered the alligator po’boy. I’ve had a gator burger before and enjoyed it. When it came out it was loaded with little popcorn gator bits, it was overflowing! The meat is sort of like tough chicken, over cooked chicken. There wasn’t enough sauce on the sandwich. I would recommend asking for extra. The fries were underwhelming. Not even a little Cajun seasoning on them? The beer on tap was good, I don’t remember the names but they were local craft beers with your standard domestic selection. I got the blonde beer and it was tasty. Some people in my group got the trio taster entrée and they seemed to enjoy the gumbo and the jambalaya most. They also said there were better places on our trip that had those local cuisines. To sum up we were hungry, it was good but not great. It’s a new place so maybe they can still tweak a few things.

Food was AHH-MAZING and service was great too. We ordered the chargrilled oysters as an appetizer. They were very fresh with a lot of flavor. I had the flounder stuffed with crawfish dressing and it was so good. My husband loved the creole house po-boy which surprisingly came with the shrimp grilled rather than fried. Nice selection of drinks and the bread pudding is to die for. We sat at the bar and received excellent service from the bartenders. This was our best meal while in NOLA.

On my wonderful trip to New Orleans there was one major thing that i wanted to do and that was to try some official Nawlins Cajun food. We happened upon Creole House Restaurant and Oyster Bar and were immediately welcomed by the hostess. One thing I noticed about the restaurant was that it was modeled after a old style bayou house but it was modernized and seemed fresh. She led us to a an empty table and we were immediately approached by our server. She was an older blonde lady who was full of life. We all started with some drinks and I decided to go safe and got a Moscow Mule. It was your typical mule in a copper cup. My friends ordered the Hurricane and a old fashion. Trying not to finish your drink before you get your food is always tough especially when you’re sipping on something that taste as good as these did. As for the food we asked what people usually ordered and she recommended the alligator po boy and the taste of four. A sampler of Gumbo, Red beans and rice, Jambalaya and crawfish chowder. I settled on that while my friends got the po boys. The food came out extremely quick and I can say that I have officially tasted Nawlins creole food. The crawfish chowder and the jambalaya were amazing and the red beans and rice were good as well. The only thing I found wrong was the jambalaya. The rice was a bit over cooked and hard but other than that it was excellent.

The oysters here are superb. The bacon garlic, Texas bbq and buffalo are all on point. I ordered at the bar and it was cool to watch them prepared right in front of you. I also highly recommend the taste of the bayou sampler, the chicken and andouille gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and red beans and rice. Red beans are some of the best I’ve had in New Orleans. Fried alligator is very good as well, especially the creole mustard sauce it comes with. The staff is super friendly and the place itself has a great feel to it. And you can’t beat the local right on canal st. Shout out to my buddy Colin Kennedy who is one of the managers at this fine establishment. Will definitely be back with friends to try more creole cuisine in the near future!

Reading the reviews you can tell that a lot of tourists stop and eat at this restaurant. It’s in a great/convenient location! My friend was in town from Nashville(she lived in NOLA previously but moved to Nashville about 6 six years ago) for her bachelorette party/wedding weekend. She picked to eat here the night of the bachelorette party. We walked here from the hotel and were greeted and seated promptly upstairs(we had made reservations). Unfortunately many of her friends/relatives showed up very late to her bachelorette party. For awhile there were only six of us seated at this huge table! I think the whole restaurant is beautiful and it was fun to sit upstairs. We ordered drinks and tried to wait until more of our party arrived to order our food. The drinks were good(expensive, what do you expect?), but they did take awhile to arrive. The bride ordered the crab claws as an appetizer. I tried one and then ate some of the sauce with a spoon ;) The sauce was excellent! When more of the party finally arrived, we put in our food order. My friend and I split the cajun alfredo with shrimp(Lent) and ordered a side salad. When the side salad came out, I was a little disappointed(it looked small and plain) but it was actually pretty good! I thought the pasta was great. There was a good amount of shrimp and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Now this could have been all the drinks talking, but I really enjoyed our meal! My sister ordered the shrimp po-boy which had a nice amount of shrimp with it and came with fries. Our waiter was pretty cool(he didn’t tell us his name at first — I think it was Yan), and he took a picture with us before we left lol.

I’m leaving this place with a broken heart. The crab cake, cajun shrimp alfredo was amazing, the pecan pie a La mode was heaven and the service was excellent. I paid for a moment and a taste of New Orleans that leaves me wanting more. I don’t know when or if I’ll ever return, but I can say I would be only so happy to find myself at the doors of Creole House Restaurant & Oyster Bar.

Biggest raw oysters I’ve gotten served in awhile. So yummy. We were on the way back to the hotel after doing some day drinking and decided we wanted a snack before dinner. We shared the«Taste of the Bayou» between the 3 of us which was $ 18 for all four: the gumbo, ettoufee, jambalaya and red beans + rice. All very good super satisfying. We decided to get a side ceasar salad to cut all the heavy soup-age. I also got a half dozen oysters on the half shell. Our waitress made our visit complete though. Her name was Shirley and she was the best!!!

Creole House is a compromise between everyone in my family’s desire to try Creole food while not subjecting my parents and sister to a dress code after playing tourist all day. VENUE: The restaurant lies on Canal Street, formerly the site of an Arby’s and next to at least two hotels(a Marriott and a Sheraton). They tout themselves as a «tourist-friendly» restaurant and give out paper maps and to-go menus to potential customers. The building is quite spacious with outdoor seating and two levels of indoor seating. The outdoor seating is a perfect spot to people-watch. There is also a separate bar section. SERVICE: We had a particularly attentive waitress who was chatty towards my sister and I, who were the most curious about Creole cuisine. Between servings we both briefly talked about the city and the people that lived there. My family got the following: — Fried Alligator(Creole mustard sauce). The shared appetizer as everyone wanted to try alligator. It tastes like a chewier version of chicken as everyone has mentioned. I think it is overly breaded so it tastes similar to any fried item and lost the essential taste of the meat. — Cajun Alfredo(Linguine pasta tossed in creamy alfredo sauce topped with blackened chicken breast, shrimp, or fish). My dad fell for the trap that just because a menu item says«Cajun» on it it’s worth trying because it’s different. It was no different than any regular alfredo except that it had more black pepper sprinkled on top. — Jambalaya Pasta(Shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms in a spicy Creole sauce tossed with fettuccine pasta). My brother got the better pasta option and enjoyed his dish. The dish was rather mild and had a decent portion of meat to pasta. — Shrimp & Grits(Gulf shrimp lightly sauteed in white wine and butter with cherry tomatoes, shallots, fresh herbs, and garlic over our creamy gouda grits). My sister’s dish, which is traditionally more of a Southern breakfast dish. We all sampled it and thought it was the best dish of the mains. The sauce was quite creamy and the shrimp was surrounded by the sauce. The grits strongly tasted like wine and I had to eat some of the shrimp to take away that wine flavor. — Taste of the Bayou(red beans and rice, crawfish etouffée and chicken & andouille gumbo). I didn’t get jambalaya but looking at the pictures after the fact I’m glad I didn’t get it. This was a great way to sample some of the traditional Creole classics. My main nitpick was that the rice was a tad hard even when I soaked the rice into the creamy broth. *Red beans and rice — my least favorite dish. This is attributed to that one of my friends introduced me to this dish through his cooking and this is a dish made much better in someone’s kitchen. The other factor was that for a dish that advertised having two types of sausage there wasn’t much of either sausage in the dish. This dish would’ve worked better and easily been my favorite if there was simply more meat — I don’t like just beans and rice dishes, even though beans do contribute much of the protein. *Crawfish etouffée — buttery broth with decent amounts of crawfish. Good portion of rice to broth. My mom had the entrée portion and she liked her dish. *Chicken & andouille gumbo. Much higher broth to rice ratio, which is supposed to be gumbo standard. My favorite dish because the meat was delicious and the broth had a spicy kick. I had better gumbo in Florida though. The portions were sample size though I was only able to eat 2 in its entirety. Didn’t get a chance to finish the red beans and rice partly because it was too much rice and beans! Overall the most beloved dish was the dessert — bread pudding. Best bread pudding we’ve ever encountered. The bread is moist while holding its structure with the caramel, whipped cream and ice cream. The big perk was the lack of raisins. Though the restaurant screams out«tourist trap» the food is still good enough for me to go back to should I ever be in the area again. Supposedly they serve good po-boys, oysters and a delicious redfish dish.

Cute little restaurant. Staff is more than friendly and so polite and nice. Service was ultra quick. I had the fresh oyster that were huge!(They were a little dirty so i ate them with the fork, not sure if they are served this way here) and the shrimp and grits was exactly what i wanted for a late supper(some shrimp still had their skin on but no biggy). The interior and music just brings you somewhere else! Plus the main dishes are reasonably priced 18 – 25 $

I arrived at the restaurant at about 130pm on a Wednesday and was able to be seated immediately. Had the fried calamari, green apple spinach salad and the pecan cobbler. The food was tasty, fresh and well presented. The servings were very large and I had leftovers of all of them. The service was excellent. Jessica was my server, in addition to supplying me with endless Diet Coke she was friendly and helpful with tourist advice as well. I’ll definitely be back.

Brand new restaurant where Arby’s used to be. Beautifully redone with a nice clean modern feel to it. They have a very friendly inviting staff from the door, to their servers/bartenders, and oyster shuckers. I’m always looking for an affordable place to take my friends and family from out of town for classic New Orleans fare and this will definitely be my go to spot. My favorite thing is their oyster shuckers working directly at the bar. They have chargrilled which is excellent but they also do a Texas bbq, buffalo oyster, and garlic bacon cheese oyster. If you don’t like oysters try the alligator app or any of their poboys!

We came here solely for the oysters– hadn’t had any yet, and my husband was on a mission to devour everything he felt was Louisiana-esq. This fit the bill as we walked by on our way back from the French Quarter. It’s a newer restaurant that used to be an Arby’s. It was a little cold in there and stark white, but it didn’t take away from the quality of the food. Oysters were great. I’ve had oysters probably a dozen times, and their BBQed bacon garlic oysters were amazing. My husband doesn’t even like seafood and he insisted on eating half of the order. He actually wanted to come back and order their other variations but we never made it back. Decided to try the signature Sazerac drink of New Orleans. Much too strong for me, but my husband enjoyed his cocktail!

Again, the Creole House exemplified how fantastic and passionate the waiters of New Orleans are for delivering great service. Sam was our waiter, and he was just a hoot and such a sweetheart. He made fantastic recommendations for our first time trying NOLA fare. My friend and I basically ordered several appetizers and turned it into a smörgåsbord. If you do anything while you’re here, get the freaking crab claws. It comes with buttered toast and is just amazing when soaked in the cream sauce. Oh, Lord. The pesto shrimp was garlicky and delicious. The fried gator was not our favorite, though. There was too much breading, and the gator did not taste fresh. We described it as «a discontinued item from Sonic». Haha. By the way, we got a peek at the wings, and they had to be wings from a freaking turkey(or the chickens are raised by a nuclear power plant). They were the biggest wings I’ve ever seen… and I’m a Texan. We were too full to try it, though. The mint julep was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness and alcohol. Their bloody mary’s are satisfying as always and topped with pickled beans, olives, and a shallot. The restaurant is gorgeous, and we noticed an intricate staircase going upstairs. Never asked about it, though. Just a quick walk from the Mariott, and thankfully it was open during Sugar Bowl/New Year weekend. –xoxo

Yummy!!! Stopped by because they had outside seating that is pet friendly. .who knew the food would be soooo excellent. Hubby had crab claws in a Creole sauce which rocked. I had the sampler with gumbo, crawfish étouffée and jumbalia. All were wonderful. Service was also friendly and fast. Highly recommended.
