I have Unilocal to thank for finding the Gazebo Café because just passing by and seeing all the signs proclaiming it the home of the original ice cream daiquiri, I would have written it off as being too touristy. But it was near our hotel and I wanted one last bowl of gumbo before the end of our weekend in New Orleans. We also ordered the alligator sausage and a pound of boiled crawfish. Oh, and of course we couldn’t pass up a «world famous» daiquiri. The dreamsicle daiquiri tasted just like an orange and vanilla creamsicle in milkshake form. I think the server told us it had vodka, amaretto, orange juice and ice cream. The gumbo had a nice kick and a good amount of andouille and chicken, but I prefer my gumbo with a thicker roux. The alligator sausage was tasty but more something to order for the novelty than anything else, which actually could be said for the crawfish too. It’s been years since I’ve had crawfish but I remember the crawfish I used to eat in Houston as being much more seasoned than what we got at Gazebo Café. Still I’m giving this place four stars for the friendly service and the great atmosphere with live jazz music. It ended up being the perfect place to wrap up the vacation.

Have been to this great city many times, this last time was one of the best times. Raffle was one of the reasons. He was what you want when visiting a town. Raffle was funny, knowledgeable, and hospitable. He made you feel that no question was crazy. Great service, great food, and honestly, some of the best drinks in the French Quarter. Do yourself a favor, go see Raffle, get a drink and see where the day takes you. You won’t be sorry. By the way, did I say see Raffle…

I had two Boomerang frozen peach things with ice cream inside. This was decadent and hit the spot. It was creamy, peachy, but better in consistency than an Orange Julius. It was VERY creamy, but was not a strain to sip through a straw. I would definitely recommend this place. My own life tip for next time is that I should do double shots of alcohol as I could not taste the liquor. But it was still amazing! :)

This is an outdoor café. There was a live jazz band playing. I went Saturday afternoon, so they may not be there every day. I had the New Orleans sampler and it was great. I wish I liked people ¼ as much as our waiter.

I stopped by on an afternoon for cocktails. The Hurricanes were great and an affordable price. I tell ya, it is hit or miss when it comes to this southern cocktail. They hit the mark and the ambiance is great. Music, drinks, and fun.

Thursday, 2:00PM. Quickie: — Food + Friendly staff — Limited menu — Turnaround — Cleanliness + Live band And then??? Gazebo Café is at a sweet location for visitors. Aside from good service, grub is lacking some punch. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items? ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Sampler(gumbo, jambalaya, rice n’ beans) — Gumbo: broth lacked flavor. — Jambalaya: dry and banal texture. Constructive comments: *What about recycling? *Option for compost

In my short 4 day New Orleans trip, this is surprisingly my favorite restaurant. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did because it’s located in the touristy part of French Quarters, but I was wrong! This place is pretty amazing. When we arrived, it was because of a quick Unilocal search. Nothing in the French market looked that good, so we thought this one might be better. The waiter seated us outside and the jazz band was playing which was really nice. The weather was a little chilly but honestly really perfect and the air was crisp and fresh. We ordered jambalaya, a half mulfallata sandwich, and one allagator sausaage. It was the 3 of us and our waiter was so nice he asked if we were going to share and we said yes. When the food arrived, it was already split into 3 and he brought us extra plates. That was really thoughtful of him especially because they have no reason to be that nice and we didn’t even ask! Just thought I’d mention it because that was really sweet. The alligator sausage was recommended by everyone to try. It was really good and so tasty. Nothing strange about it. It had a really normal flavor, too normal. In fact, it was really delicious. I loved it. The horseradish mustard is the perfect sauce with it. The mulfallata sandwich was so good too! Perfectly toasted bread with ham, green olives and cheese. The bread was thin enough and the meaty stuff inside gave the perfect heartiness to it. The balsamic dip is also the best! It was a super tart sandwich, which, in my opinion, is the best kind. I love everything inside separately so having all of it in one bite is beyond heaven. Mulfallata for life. Can’t believe it took me this long to try it!!! The jambalaya was also really good. Chunks of sausage and chicken made every bite so hearty and delicious. It was the perfect 3 person sharing portion too. They gave it to us in 3 scoops. The flavor was also really potent and perfect. The rice was cooked perfectly fluffy and the seasoning spot on. I would actually come back if I can tomorrow. Really great food at reasonable prices. Great to share and try amongst a few people.

My friend picked this place after we first arrived to the French Quarter we really liked the outdoor seating area, we got a seat right away, the menu was very simple and it didn’t take long to pick what I wanted to eat. I ordered the chicken strips and french fries. Just a simple lunch they were both on the appetizer section so I assume the portions were going to be big which it was enough for 2 people. I loved the breading on the chicken I really liked how small the pieces were cut up, it was beautiful white meat, the flavor was on point. My basket of fries were just a basket of fries. I think they complimented the chicken strips well. Unfortunately while we were down there there was a water containment and we weren’t allowed to get soda or water luckily for us we had two bottles of water with us when we arrived. My friend ordered the alligator sandwich with fries I believe she enjoyed it. It was a nice lunch and a nice scene, I will definitely come back here the next time I’m in town.

Gazebo for a snack Shared the appetizer sampler which as deep fried shrimp(3.5÷5), alligator(3.5÷5) and crawfish(3⁄5) along with a side of fried(3⁄5). Felt guilty eating the alligator as we are seafood eating vegetarians that just came from a tour of the bayou where we watched the alligators swim. Had an Abita Turbodog stout to drink(4⁄5). Feeling very stuffed.

OK, but not amazing lunch spot in the French Quarter. This is where I learned that Californians and Southerners have a very different concept of «salad». We stopped in for lunch and at this point in the trip I need to give my stomach a break from rich(and often fried) southern food. I opted for a grilled chicken salad, which the menu claimed was loaded with veggies. What I got was a plate of romaine, about three slices of tomatoes, three slice s of cucumbers and mayo-like ranch dressing. My husband got a po’boy he was pleased with, they had a killer jazz band playing, and the wait staff was great. So… Maybe just avoid the salad?

The day we went here it was extremely hot! We walked by asked holly the waitress for some water and she kindly filled up our nalgene water bottle for us. She even put ice in it! I’m not sure if that’s the norm but that was really generous of her. Thanks holly! After walking around some we decided to have a drink here! We ordered two bloody Mary’s and they were delicious. The seasonings were great and the pickled green beans were good too! Seeing as they are known for their ice cream daiquiris, I got one a strawberry one and it helped cool us off. My partner got the rum runner and it was equally delicious. The bartender was really nice and I’m glad we stopped here after walking through it. I recommend giving it a shot for drinks. We weren’t too sold on the way that the food looked, but drinks are a yes!

After a long, hot day working in the Big Easy, I came across this gem of a place. Excellent food and drink along with great atmosphere. Home of the ice cream daiquiris, I had the banana daiquiri along with a fried gator po’ boy. Outside eating along with a cool live band that played everything. They know how eat, drink and relax in NOLA!

After an afternoon of exploring came across this café while trying to hide from the thunder storm that was brewing. Nice little location with friendly staff and the band playing was entertaining as seems to be the norm in New Orleans with the various bands playing. I ordered the chicken bits and onion rings. I’m so used to the very poor onion rings I was quite stocked that these onion rings were mainly onion with a light batter. The American mustard served with the chicken was delicious. For drinks I had the banana ice cream daiquiri which was tasty and not overly sweet which tends to happen with banana drinks for some reason. Service was efficient and polite even with moving people out of building storm(which never got past the growling stage). Overall if you’re down near the French markets, take some time out to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some well priced drinks and food.

My cousin, a native New Orleanian is always raving about this place so I knew I just had to try it. My first few attempts failed since they close earlier than many of the places around this area. The wait was worth it, I tried the Strawberry Ice Cream Daiquiri and chose to sit outside and listen to the live band play. The daiquiri wasn’t over saturated with booze, but it still had a little kick. This is the perfect guilty pleasure on a regular day to enjoy in NOLA.

When it’s two in the afternoon and you find yourself craving something sweet, steer away from the beignets and walk one block east to this place for a Mud Slide!(The beignets will still be there later… And without a line!!) 7.75 for a blended ice cream alcoholic milkshake… So delicious! No wait at all at the walk up window and they have a live band playing jazz(at least at 2pm on the Thursday we went) We’ve gotten so many tips of places to go and things to eat/drink, and I’m so glad to be able to be the one recommending The Gazebo to my friends with future trips here!

Live music + delicious and flavorful food and drinks = One happy girl visiting NOLA for the first time! This was one of the first places that we stopped to eat in New Orleans. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was good and the drinks hit the spot. This is a great place for lunch to listen to live music, people-watch, and enjoy New Orleans. Definitely recommend!
