Foodie Call

As you know, I’m a boudin snob ad I did not think these balls were any good. They had barely any batter on them and they were small. My ideal and perfect ball would be from Billys in Scott La. They are huge with an inch thick of batter. The taste with these balls wasn’t there. Tasted like flavorless meat. Maybe I should have gone with a burger.

This place is the bomb after having a few at the rusty nail. Any of the burgers with an order of the parm truffle fries will not disappoint.

We were at a bar called Rusty Nail. Only food was a food truck called Foodie Call. It’s 8pm and all I know is I’m super hungry. They didn’t take credit cards. By now, there’s no excuse not to take credit cards. Not only is there Square, there’s a ton of other credit companies that do mobile. So I had to go get cash and pay the atm fee. Ok so I go get cash, purchase my food which are wings and fries. I realize they don’t give me any sauce for my wings. Now, wings ALWAYS comes with some type of sauce whether it’s ranch or bleu cheese. I ask for ranch and he tells me it’s an additional charge. I’ve used all my cash to buy the food that I could’ve easily paid with my credit card. I ask if it’s possible to just give me ranch with no charge and he says no. I walked away pretty disappointed. Did not take credit and couldn’t possibly give me sauce for free which is probably one cent per pour. Yep. Sorry. Bad review.

This may be due to how inebriated I am leaving the rusty nail, but the turkey pesto sandwich I just had was off the chain. The bun on point, the turkey juicy just right, and 7 bucks. Fully satisfied

Got a jalapeño burger and garlic parmesan truffle fries a while back. Both were absolutely delicious. I thought it was a little pricey. But I’d get it again.

One of my favorite food trucks! Found them at The Rusty Nail on Saints opener game day. Wasn’t famished but couldn’t pass up a nibble from Foodie Call, got the Parmesan Garlic Truffle Fries… get these. I’ve had a number of things in the past that I enjoyed: Poutine, Burger, Brownie. If you see this truck and your stomach needs sustenance, stop and grab a bite!

BLUF: Burger was quick and pretty dang good but the fries were a disappointment.
I got the blue cheese burger and it was really good. They make it fresh and it is pretty quick. Perfect amount of blue cheese and lots of mushrooms. Quality bun. Big fan.
We got the truffle fries and they weren’t very good. My only explanation is that they could have forgotten the truffle oil/​salt. Just tasted like store bought frozen fries with minced garlic. The fries made us sad.
I’d def eat here again (outside of Rusty Nail) but I would try more exciting fries like the pizza fries. If those are a bust though I would just stick to the burgers. Good burgers, good people, bad truffle fries (unless they just messed up on ours).

Love these guys. They come to our office once a week and I always try to get there. They use quality, fresh ingredients and have a very creative menu. I usually get the burger, sans bun, with arugala and pesto sauce insead of ketchup. And their french fries are homestyle, which I love. The poutine is delicious, the turkey caprese sandwitch is one of my favorites, and I honestly haven’t tried anything on their menu that I wouldn’t eat again.

This place is just, AMAZING. I had the poutine, which had REAL cheese curds that ACTUALLY squeaked, and weren’t just mozzarella, and my friend got the Ham And Brie sandwich, and they said it was one of the best sandwiches they ever had. Overall, it is the best food truck I have ever been to and I would definatley go again if it was closer to my hotel.

I’ve tried just about everything they’ve had on their menu for the past 3 or so months and it’s all delicious! You really can’t go wrong with anything you pick. One of the better food trucks in NOLA by far!

Sooo good! I got the buffalo wings (that were fried to order) great sauce and nice crunch. I also got the baby back rib grilled cheese thinking it was just between 2 pieces of bread WRONG between 2 grilled cheese sandwiches… fabulous !!

This is one of the best food trucks in the city. The Poutine is my favorite. Whenever they have lemon squares, I buy half a dozen. The burger is delicious and the onions are nicely caramelized.
Definitely give them a try! Check Facebook for location post. I generally find them at the rusty nail, 45 tchoup, or one of the round ups.
They take credit cards.

I like the irony of my first NOLA review being a food truck. Just sayin’

I have been to this truck a few times at different bars. My first experience was the poutine fries which were disappointing. The last time I had the opportunity to eat from this truck I wasn’t even hungry but decided to get something small to share with the table and to snack on. I got the wings and ate two whole orders. They were that good.
I don’t like to play favorites, but this truck may become my favorite food truck if they keep showing up my frequented bars.

They are the best food truck in the city! These guys know how to cook! One of them used to work at LeForet and the other worked at Brennan’s.
I’ve had 3 of their items from their ever changing menu and all were great!
Garlic Parmesan Fries, Creamy Mac and Cheese but my absolute favorite are there Empanadas!
I cant wait to try their Sunday Brunch items :) i think they are soo good they should be featured on Eat St! I look forward to seeing them parked in front of my favorite warehouse district/​convention center bar Rusty Nail!

Ate here while at the WYES beer fest. Several of us shared a bit of everything and man were we all pleased.
Wings: Deliciously sticky sweet and a little spicy.
Parmesan/​Garlic Fries: Amazing, we were fighting over these.
BrieLT Sandwich: Wife loved it!
Burger: Holy cow, this tied for The Company Burger for my favorite burger.
The only thing that wasn’t loved was the gravy and cheese curd fries.
Totally amazed at the quality and taste of the food. some people complained about the prices before tasting, but this really is gourmet food and should be compared to restaurants. I wish this was parked outside of my work… actually on second thought I’d end up obese!

Finally had a chance to try out Foodie Call this past weekend and they are another food-​truck-​win in my book. And, that’s even without their alleged bacon macaroni and cheese on their menu that night. I will be stalking them until I get to try it. But anyway…
The boyfriend went out, ordered for us and brought back a double cheeseburger, porchetta sandwich, poutine and truffle parmesan fries. We split everything and oh. my. goodness. It was all fantastic. I was stuffed to them brim but didn’t want to stop and waste even one little delicious morsel. I had to finally asked someone to just take it away before I exploded.
I am totally on board with this food truck revolution and glad to add Foodie Call to my list of preferred options.

At the recent food truck awards they were my winners. The poutine and Italian Ham sandwich were excellent. Can’t wait to see them at future events around town.

This truck seems to have become a regular fixture at the Rusty Nail so I gave them a try during a recent Saints game. I had the double cheese burger, lamb meat pie, and fries. The food was all good and the fries are nicely done while the burger was really more of a slider size than full burger size. One of my friends ordered the poutine debris fries and they were really tasty. For the quantity of food you get the prices are on the high side and really I think the tiny burger should just come with fries. I would certainly eat here again but probably only later at night if nothing else in the area is open as it’s expensive for what you get.

I like food trucks.

I may just be a little biased here, but ALAS, I have found poutine in New Orleans. For those of you who don’t know what poutine is, it’s actually a canadian dish originating in quebec. It is composed of fries, with cheese curds that are sprinkled on top and they melt into a gooey mess as brown gravy is poured onto it. It’s a heart attack in a cup.
Back home in Canada, they have a a lot of different variations of poutines, and there are specialty poutine shops. I often think about poutine, so I was especially excited when I saw it on Foodie Call’s menu as they were setting up. I was so excited, I couldn’t wait and I ordered it immediately, I had to wait about 20 minutes for the poutine because they hadn’t even started up their burners yet.
Although it didn’t taste like home, the poutine was still good in its own New Orleans way. A little bit of seasoned fries, gravy with debris, and cheese curds. Cheese curds weren’t quite melted into a gooey mess, they were still sort of square and not totally soft.
Plus side, I know where I can poutine for my cravings, I just have to chase this truck down, and now I also know where I can get cheese curds in this city. As we all know the grocery stores don’t carry them.
