I give this place 3 and ¾ stars. Decent food, ok prices, friendly staff, cool atmosphere, cleanest bathroom Ive ever been in. They had a great deal on groupon that I could not resist. The groupon was for 2 burgers, 2 beers, and an order of fries to share. Our order came to approximately $ 42(before taxes) but with the groupon, we saved a ton. So we order the hawaii 5 – 0 burger, cheezey burger, and cheese fries with 2 beers on tap. Burgers are nice sized and served on sough dough bun. Hawaii 5 – 0 burger was an interesting combination. It had a beef patty, hot sausage patty, pineapple slices, fried egg and bacon… I cant even remember if it came with cheese. It was pretty tall. I was worried that the hot sausage was gonna be too spicy but with everything on it .it was so busy, I hardly noticed. The cheezey burger was also large but in comparison, very plain. There was nothing special about their tastes. On my best burger scale, fuddruckers being the yummiest number 10, I give the burger a high 5 for being interesting but not orgasmic. Cheese fries were plenty and tasted good. The place itself is a shotgun house. So it is a lil cramped with minimal seating inside. If someone were seated at the bar, their behinds would be face level at about 2 ½ feet from the people who choose to sit at the small tables along the wall. I saw seating in the front outside and a picture of covered and heated patio seating in the back. Oddly enough, the best thing I can say about this place is the bathroom. It was immaculately clean, fully stocked, didnt smell, roomy, and just a perfect amount of chilly when youre coming out of the hot sun or sweaty bar. The bathroom gets 5 stars alone. I cant speak for the mens room, though. And yes, when it comes to reviews, bathrooms do matter. What comes in must go out.

This restaurant was not only reasonably priced, it was good, and a great atmosphere with great service. It has a lovely patio that can be enclosed, or you can sit inside. I got the breakfast plate for $ 7.50 and it came with everything I wanted. My friend got a cheeseburger and it huge! It smelled delicious walking in, and they played swamp music!

Despite having an awful name(really, it’s terrible. The original name: «Dis & Dat» wasn’t any better.) this restaurant offers some pretty amazing burgers. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, because I was craving a burger something fierce, and although I had heard raves about this spot, I had yet to try it. Dis and Dem is a no frills type of place. There’s a large bar area with some tables and chairs off to the side and you place your order at the bar. My friend and I both decided to get a cheeseburger and we split some seasoned fries. This burger was HUGE! Seriously, I had to cut it in half and take half of it home because I was super stuffed and I couldn’t finish it. The fries were really tasty– I think they were dusted with a Creole seasoning type of thing and I liked them a lot. Reading some older reviews for this place, it seems like they have made some real improvements in the«quality» department. I would encourage anyone who went when they first opened to give them another shot. They just do burgers now(I think they did hot dogs when they first opened, as well) and I really think they nail it. For me, this burger was as good as Company Burger and that’s my «top tier» burger pick. They also do breakfast, but I’m not sure if that’s everyday or just on Sundays. I would love to return to Dis and Dem. Now I’m hungry.

My girlfriend and I stopped here on our way back home after finding this place on Unilocal and seeing good things. We were not disappointed! It’s a cozy little joint, with a back patio that we didn’t check out. We ordered breakfast after getting some recommendations from a friendly older gentleman at the bar. I got the eggs Benedict, New Orleans style, and she got pork grits(can’t remember the exact name). She said the grits were some of the best she had ever had. I also enjoyed my eggs Benedict equally. Even the coffee was good. We would love to stop back by the next time in Nola, maybe for lunch or dinner next time. They seemed to have a great lunch menu with some interesting daily specials. Good drink selection too. Check this place out!

Unexpectedly yummy breakfast stop from this burger joint. If you’re unsure and just want to try it out, pick up a Groupon and you won’t be disappointed. They have really good pancakes. We sat at the bar, but there was plenty seating for breakfast and parking outside.

This is a shotgun single converted into a long bar with some outdoor seating located right next to the LSU/VA medical complex that swallowed up the old neighborhoods. Most of the food is centered around burgers here but they also have a fish sandwich, sliders, vegetarian burger and offer breakfast. They also feature a nice happy hour from 4 – 7 with half off wine and beer. The burgers and fries here are decent and the service is typically fast and even better if you sit at the bar instead of a table. It certainly isn’t the best burger in town, especially for the price, but the happy hour is a good deal and it’s a place you can watch football in Mid-City and still get a bar stool most of the time during games.

Ansolutely fantastic food. I had the fish sandwich and my boyfriend had the hawaii 5 – 0. Both sandwiches were huge and delicious, the server checked on us regularly and the owner happily explained the New Orleans obsession with Patton’s sausage! Thank y’all so much and I am sure you will continue to see our friends, whose house we were crashing at, up there on the regular.

Um… why aren’t more people eating here? Big. Yummy burgers. Customer service 2nd to none. Thursday night. And we’re the only people in the joint!!! It’s in Mid-City. Just take Banks past Broad. Cute, colorful interior. I ordered the fish sammich. Best fish sandwich I’ve ever had. Bae ordered the Borche Burger. Shared a side of classic fries, though you can get them with chili-cheese or bacon and ranch. I cooled it off with a PBR. They have a rotation of 2 different drafts, this time they had Canebrake and Nola Blonde. There’s also a good assortment of cans and bottles Stella R., bud light, Miller. They are more than just burgers though. Check them out!!!

I ordered a John Wayne burger(Friday special), which is described as a ½lb beef patty stuffed with oozey hot cheez, topped with fried egg, hot patty and bacon. Served with fries. And it tasted as good as it sounded. This might be my new favorite burger in NOLA. That good.

Dis and Dem. I had a great experience here both times I have been here. Now, although this is a new thing to New Orleans, it s standard in other locations the burgers are ala carte. You order your fries on the side. But they are a tasty addition and ample. The atmosphere is casual, and is as some have said a lot like Dat Dog, for obvious reasons, the owner used to be a partner in Dat Dog. I like this Burger Place, but am still partial to Phil’s Grill. But in NOLA they are a burger to be contended with.

The burger version of Dat Dog without the Dat Dog prices. Located in an old shotgun house, you get the Dat Dog feel right away. The décor is like a Crayola box vomited all over the walls. Being that it is an old shotgun house, it’s very cramped. There’s a long bar where they take your order, a few tables inside and more out front. I didn’t go towards the back so there could have been more room back there. The Food: There was no menu to be found so you have to read the big chalk board and order from there. It was kind of crowded for lunch so I felt rushed with my order. I just ordered one of the specialty burgers that sounded appealing. When they guy told me my total, I damn near left. A burger, fries and a coke…17.25. WTF!!! I ordered the Hawaii 5 – 0, it’s a burger patty, hot sausage patty, fried egg, pineapple and bacon. The burger was good but the hot sausage kind of overpowered everything else. I don’t mean to sound cheap but the price was outrageous for what I got. The place is not for the claustrophobic. Maybe I’ll try it again but it would have to be at an off peak time and definitely not a «specialty» item

Food was good… service was wierd. Not sure if its a pop up restaurant for brunch. They were running out of a lot of items on the brunch menu and the servers were very confused on where things were located around the restaurant. Took a long time for everything. There was only 1 four top table, so we had to sit at th bar. So we saw everything. It was just weird. My father ordered a bloody mary and didn’t recieved lemons, limes, celery, or olives. All he only got was an okra and the server didn’t think that should go in there. He’s definiitly not from New Orleans. The cook told him that there was celery in the frig. He didn’t rinse it or cut it. He just broke a piece off and stuck it in a drink. My father said he wanted his celery but he needed to rinse it off first. So my dad told another server, who laughed then rinsed it off. Weird I enjoyed a Mimosa, which was more champagne than o.j., the way I like it. I would have had another, but no one asked if I would like another, even after I placed both my water glass and champagne glass to front of the bar. Weird My mom ordered coffee, which they forgot to serve. When we reminded them, she recieved an ice cold cup of hot coffee. the server wasn’t sorry he said, I knew something was wrong when I didn’t get that steam. Weird My parents ordered pancake battered bacon. They enjoyed. They didn’t have the perserves stuffed corn muffins, so they gave me biscuits instead. I love biscuits so I didn’t miss the corn muffins. I just had an egg scrambled with cheese to accompany it. Probably will not be back. It was jus to weird for us.

Yep, this place totally rocks! It’s a complete little gem now near the«medical quarter» area(they were there first of course). It boasts lovely service from gruff looking gentlemen in terrible 80s aloha shirts. They patiently wait for your order as you drool over the many choices. Honestly, whatever you get — you won’t go wrong. Eating here is definitely a cheat meal for us. But, wherever their bread is from… it’s totally worth the gluten. The buns are fluffy, soft, extremely delicious and a perfect accompanyment to their burgers. Burgers we’ve tried so far: — Hawaii 5 – 0: I usually object to pineapple on burgers/pizza, but they have a wonderful balance between the sweetness and glazed patty. — Dis and Dem burger: oh what a namesake! Totally amazing. I want to bathe in whatever glaze they use. — Broche burger: fried egg adds another layer of yummy calories. — Friend said of the veggie burger: «I can’t believe this isn’t meat!?» She was very happy. — Not a burger: but get the cheddar, ranch, bacon fries. I don’t even like ranch and I pretty much inhaled these delicious offerings. Hints: — The housemade pickles are killer — Mon-Fri daily specials are fun! — Tues-Sat 4−7pm happy hour ½ off wine/beer 4−7pm

Food was great, service and selection was a little strange. From what I understood, Dis and Dem is home to a popup breakfast place on the weekends. Which is fine, but not everything that is on their menu is available at those times(and they still have them on the menus). For example, the drinks they display on the wall are not all available during breakfast, which is not immediately obvious until you’re craving one of them and are told they can’t serve them. Our server also didn’t know where everything was which was strange. Service overall was very slow. It took a good 15 minutes for the bartender/server to take our initial drink order. The rest of the meal followed suit in pace. The cook also had an argument with the chef which everyone at the restaurant could hear and see. I don’t have any complaints about the food, though. It was very, very delicious. I can only assume that the rest of the menu is the same. I tried the Dis Breakfast Po-boy and heard similar complements about the rest of the po-boys on the menu!

Breakfast = 5 stars We had breakfast here the other day and loved it! The hash dishes were delicious! Colin, their breakfast guy, is extremely nice, very helpful, and knows how to do breakfast right! Colin was also offering jam filled corn muffins the morning we went — innovative and tasty! Coffee was solid as well! We have also been here for burgers = 4 stars. This is only because there are so many stellar burger joints in NOLA — this burger isn’t on that level. In any other city the D&D burger would be a 5 star. If you don’t like BBQ, make sure to let them know because it comes on all of their burgers.

We visited for lunch and enjoyed a couple burgers and cheese fries. We both added the hot sausage patty which I highly suggest since the meat is a frozen patty and needs that extra boost. The toppings are fresh which helps too. The cheese fries were amazing especially with their specialty dipping sauces and one order is perfect for 2 people. The drink options could be improved. The beer and wine seem to cater to the hipster crowd which is fine since I’m sure thats the majority of their clientele. The iced tea was not good and other options were whatever. We were informed they have disenfranchised themselves with Dat Dog(hence the name and décor) They no longer serve hot dogs but still use the sourdough buns as their slider bread. The menu is quite simple, no frills. There is a pop up breakfast shop there on the Sat and Sun mornings and that menu sounded phenomenal! We plan on taking the kids soon.

I am absolutely embarrassed to say that I hosted a UYE here. Yes, I invited friends – mostly other Unilocal Elites – to join me at a restaurant that can’t figure itself out. I should have listened to the wisdom of Charles H and Christopher W, but I just couldn’t resist. It seemed like such a solid idea: half-price wine and beer with sliders and fries for happy hour. What played out was so different. Between my visit to the restaurant to check out their happy hour specials and the actual event(about a week elapsed), the menu was gutted. No more hot dogs. And not only was the menu gutted, but the remaining offerings were written in chicken scratch on badly mimeographed papers that were being passed around UPONREQUEST. One should never have to request a freaking menu. Anyway, gutted menu. Then the bar is out of most of their beer. Rather than a simple apology and solutions, the owner who was behind the bar felt like unloading the whole damn sob story about warehouse being out of beer and screwing him on his distro blah blah blah. I am a customer trying to order food. I really do not need your business woes right now, pal. When the beers finally happened, they were fine. Food was ordered, but it was not tracked very well in their POS(point of sale) software. Like when I went to pay my tab and cash out, the tab for the entire group was under my name… even the food that other people paid for. That means food was entered twice or something. I don’t even know. We did get it sorted out, and the poor dude who had to sort it out ended up sliding two things off my bill as a nod to the fact that I’d brought in 6 of my friends on a Wednesday.(And also because we didn’t get several orders of fries that we ordered. I was not about to pay for food I didn’t receive.) One of our party ordered sliders… which, uh. They were burger patties sliced in half and stuffed in a hot dog bun. That isn’t sliders. It’s something else, but it’s not sliders. Sliders are mini-burgers. Half patties in hot dog buns is… well, it’s something that frat boys would improvise. Why the hell is it on your menu? Then there were the burgers. Company Burger has spoiled me on the classy gourmet burger experience in NOLA. Haters to the left, please. Even without the lettuce and tomato, the guys at Company Burger know how to make a fabulous patty and pair it with a good bun and house-made mayo. But the folks at Dis & Dem are slopping pre-made BBQ sauce on their burgers and calling it «glaze.» Y’all, this is frat house cooking. This is not a $ 10 burger. I have had better burgers from the Trolley Stop, and I’m pretty sure that all of the kitchen staff is drunk most of the time at Trolley Stop. When you are out-cooked by shitty greasy spoon, there is a problem. The buns suck and are a poor match for whatever they are calling these burgers now. Toast! Your! Buns! Match the size of the patty to the size of the bun! Basic things! Do them! Having checked the website prior to writing this review, I noticed that the menu has changed again. Maybe the new menu will make sense for this place. Maybe they are finally figuring out how to get out of the frat house kitchen. But I’m not rushing back, nor am I taking friends with me. There was one other problem. The owners of this joint are a little… zealous. One of the owners or managers was posting on the Talk threads around Mardi Gras, pushing folks to visit without revealing her relationship to the restaurant. That’s bad juju. She was called out on her behavior several times, and it finally stopped. But still. Someone didn’t read the TOS when they signed up for Unilocal. And then there was the glut of management when I had my UYE. There were more owners/managers/bosses than employees or customers the night of my event. When management(and their wives) are there«just to hang out» and breathe down the neck of the staff, I get nervous. I get very nervous for those poor staffers, especially. The bartender looked like he wanted to crawl into the cooler to escape from the loitering bosses and wives. I don’t blame him! I wanted to hide in the bathroom! My lingering question, of course is this: if the managers were so interested in attracting Unilocalers to their business, how come they didn’t notice my event? It was posted in the Talk threads and linked as an event. It could have been a chance to shine for the crowd they’re trying to draw in. Instead, they managed to turn us off. This was just embarrassing. Accessibility notes: no Braille menu or signage. Ramp enters on the side of the building. High bar. Single-stall restrooms.

Went in for the breakfast this morning. Had the mini-chimmies with eggs & grits. So.friggin.good. The grits were creamy, not sweet, not over processed, the perfect temp & not runny at all. The eggs on top mixed with the grits(not typically my favorite combo) added some nice saltiness, didn’t need any hot sauce or Tonys. The mini-chimmies were piping hot and a special of the day, couldn’t finish all four and accidentally left my to-go box :-(The owner/server/hollandaise maker was friendly and brought us a side of the hollandaise for dipping… YUM! This place is a great addition to the neighborhood & a yummy affordable spot.

Since moving to NOLA Ive been on the hunt for a delicious burger. I had my spot in JC where I could be found 6 out of 7 days eating a delicious burger(shout out White Star Bar). After what seemed like several hours of detective work I decided to head over to the newly opened Dis and Dat. Having already experienced their sister concept, Dat Dog, I was easily persuaded to explore this new concept. The location is somewhat off the beaten path. Located in a house, on a corner lot, in a residential neighborhood. Ambiance: What you would expect from a Dat location. Eclectic and vibrant. Although I will say they have ZERO ventilation there. I smelled like a campfire after I got home. Food: Sadly, not very impressed at all. I do like onion rolls but not necessarily on my burger. It felt like they were trying to fit a square peg into a circle hole. It just didnt fit(that’s what she said). I just want a quality, simple and damn delicious burger. No need to try and wow me with your interpretation of a burger… I just get lost in confusion. Also, I don’t like the way they cut their tomatoes. WHYDOYOUDOTHAT? It sucks. Stop it. Last Food Gripe: I was very offended by the lack of melted cheese on the burger. A handful of shredded cheddar on top of my patty is just plain laziness and it really pisses me off. Im American & I like melted cheese, damnit. Service: Very attentive and friendly. Note: they all wear Hawaiian shirts. Not sure if that’s good or bad. All in All: Would I return? Not likely. The burger just wasnt what I had hoped it would be. I would be more likely to visit Dat Dog.

3.5 stars but rounding to 4 since they are new and get the benefit of the doubt. Will update when I return! Atmosphere was cool, I love all the dry erase boards with art and Christmas lights! A big TV had sporting events playing. The food was good. I ordered the chili cheese burger. The burger was ginormous! It is served with a pickle spear. I’m training for a half marathon, and I surprised even myself when I finished almost all of it! I do wish they melted the cheese on the burger instead of sprinkling, presumably post-plating. I was happy to see they served the same fries as dat dog. Those fries are some of the most delicious I have EVER tasted! Amazing! We sat at the bar and received excellent and friendly service. My biggest complaint stems from the seemingly lack of proper ventilation in the kitchen area. It was super duper smoky, and even hours after leaving, my clothes wreaked of burger grease. I don’t mind a little«eau de buger», but this was extreme. They then opened all of the doors and had a big fan going, but it was a really chilly night, and left all of the patrons shivering. Please install a better ventilation system!
