This place is in the building next to the one where I work and I was delighted to discover this little spot to add to the limited options in the immediate vicinity. It was cash only, but there is a Whitney ATM outside this building and Chase ATM right next door. Update: they’ve recently starting taking credit cards with a $ 5 minimum. The prices are pretty low for the area and the ladies that work there are super nice. They do breakfast and lunch with hot food being served until 1:45 and closing at 2:30. I’ve tried their breakfast sandwiches, club sandwich, red beans and rice, baked chicken, plenty of their fresh cut fruit, and their salad bar. All the food is pretty decent, even if it’s nothing gourmet.

No dining in here. This is strictly a «to go» restaurant only. Chef’s sandwich is literally a hole in the wall located at 1250 Poydras St. at the intersection of Poydras & Loyola Ave in the CBD. It’s tucked away in the corner of the 1st floor behind the Whitney Bank and caters to this particular office building and a few others in the gerneral vicinity who are lucky enough to have heard about this place. The«storefront» is probably less than 200 square feet, and consists of a salad bar, a few drink coolers and the counter where they serve hot lunches and sandwiches. You’d never guess that this place would be cranking up such great dishes like stuffed bell peppers, etouffe and gumbo. Everything I have tried here is delicious, to include the sandwiches. My favorite would have to be the baked chicken breast sandwich on toast, which is piled high with approximately 2 – 3 inches of chicken. They also feature freshly baked cakes for dessert. The most popular ones seem to be the carrot cake and the chocolate cake with chocolate icing and chocolate chunks on top. The only thing I have not tried yet is the salad bar. However, it’s a popular choice among the patrons I see there.
