We were so excited to find a country bar in the French Quarter but were really disappointed that the DJ was incredibly rude and the bar won’t give a free glass of water to a DD. If you use the bathroom, you’re forced to tip in order to even get soap to wash your hands and they are super pushy to sell you other items.

NOT A PARTOFREALNEWORLEANS. These fat cats with their«hip» tube light sign will kick you out if you don’t look like a frat douche. I live in New Orleans. I have for many years. I have worked on bourbon street. I love this city with all of my heart. Many friends pass through town & as much as I love to show them the real New Orleans, I sometimes like to show them the anthropological anomaly that is bourbon street. Tonight, a friend from high school brought 15 people into town for a bachelor party. For fun, I took them to «ride the bull» at Bourbon Cowboy at about 9 pm. I walked in, bought 4 tickets from the bartender & tipped him well. As I was waiting for the tickets, a bouncer walked up and told me I had to leave without giving me a reason. I walked out without argument, then asked why I was told to leave. They told me to step aside from the«private party» or they’d call the cops. Eventually the manager told me that a door man thought I «looked like I was dealing drugs» I am a local artist, engaged with the community, who, granted, doesn’t wear topsiders and a checkered button down, but I’m also not a dreadlocked gutter punk. I’d been working all day and was one drink into the evening; not a wasted frat boy on spring break. I tend bar on Bourbon and Frenchmen streets. Sometimes we have to kick assholes and sketchballs out, I get it, but if we misstep, we acknowledge it. And we take care of our own These guys don’t give a damn about New Orleans. If you want to support this town, avoid Bourbon Cowboy.

Had an event and stayed after as it was such a great time! The bartenders and staff are so welcoming and always there to help. My event went off without a hitch and ended up being a huge HIT! Thanks Bourbon Cowboy

Of all the filthy, rundown, and slime covered places in New Orleans, Bourbon Cowboy was my favorite. It didn’t smell like stale beer as much as all the other bars, they had a bull that everyone took a turn riding but not every took their shirts off(totally against mechanical bull etiquette I know don’t get me started), and they wouldn’t let you buy a single beer. You had to buy three beers at a time, at least. I appreciate that.

Not my scene. It has a rural West Virginian vibe. The bar tender couldn’t grasp my Brooklinese accent. She did not understand what a sazerac or a whisky sour entailed. She suggested a Hurricane, which by the way was better than Pat O Brien’s. But this place has a mechanical bull, and blasts lots of country music. Fun Fact: I asked the same bar tender for water. She pours another Hurricane. #Fail.

We came to NOLA for a Bachelorette party. Been in here since 3PM., We were just told that we could not get water 5 hours later without paying $ 3. Really? 17 people after 3 hours and charging for water?

One of my favorite bars on bourbon street. The music is good atmosphere even better and you can ride the bull. Warning though you don’t know where that things been. Also happy hour is three for one! Pretty great deal

I did my first bull ride! I’m really short(5’1) and there wasn’t really a bouncy surface so the operator had to give me a boost up. Haha. The bathrooms are gross but I wasn’t expecting anything nice. The drinks were strong and the music was danceable. I wasn’t sure if it was a DJ or karaōke night. The DJ seemed to be singing over the majority of the songs. The shot girls are incredibly pushy. I understand they have a job to do but it was very off putting. Overall, it was a good divey experience.

The bull is the best entertainment, bartenders are good, the shot girls are persistent but all in Nola fun The music was all country and they kept it upbeat Good time had by all

This place is your typical Bourbon Street dive, with the exception of the Mechanical Bull. Same 3 – 1 drink specials, same booze prices, same shot girls running around.

This is your average B Street establishment that differentiates itself by being a country bar. Average by the fact that it is typical size, typical 3 for 1s most of the daytime, background music. It differentiates by playing country music, and there is a mechanical bull that you can buy a ride. My friend and I watched the bull riding for quite a while, it was quite entertaining to see gals that have been drinking all day try to stay on. All in all — a nice alternative to the other bars in the quarter.

Horrible establishment. Look at the one star reviews, I’m sure you will see a theme. I only read one and sure enough the shady business practice was mentioned. The shot girls will literally put a shot in your mouth and tilt your head back for you to drink, then demand money. It’s happened to me this weekend and I refused to pay. Shot girl got mad and involved the bouncer and manager. What can they say? They know it’s a bullshit business practice but they also know that’s just how they do things. She didn’t get her money, I didn’t get kicked out, end of story. I will never return to that establishment. Shady, shady, shady. For the record, the group that I had met with said the same thing happened to them, she went around and gave everyone shots then demanded $ 20. That’s not how it works in the real world! If you give something to someone you don’t then demand payment. By the way the classic canned response to any complaint about this practice is «but they’re wearing a button that says a price». GTFO with that nonsense.

Bar wise this place is no different then most others in the area, which is not a bad thing if you like music and drinking. The one stand out thing here is the bull riding. While mostly girls tend to go ride the bull so all the frat dudes can look at their ass, if you’re a dude don’t hesitate to show your macho side and ride that bull like it owes you money, the harder they make it for you to get the girl back on it the better you look lol. If your with a party here I think this is a must stop.

I always have fun here. Don’t stay on the ground floor though. It’s crowded, rowdy, and full of the type of people I can’t stand. Instead, go onto the second floor where the balcony is. 3 for 1 drinks, an awesome spot to yell down at people, and an uncrowded floor to chill out on when you need a breather. Only downside is… the drink girls. Like the rest of Bourbon, these girls will molest your mouth with nasty sugar drinks and expect you to pay. Watch out for them.

I’ll give it 3 stars because the beautiful Afro American beauty at the bar upstairs was so nice and, hey they have 3 for 1 all day and after 9 exclusively upstairs. Go get em! But I’m not that into country music. Otherwise, great! Ride the mechanical bull!

I gotta say this was probably the worst bar I went to on bourbon st while the Née Orleans… and I went to a lot of them. The only saving grace was the waitress, but other than that there was crappy music, not a real fun crowd of people, and we got held up in the bathroom by a bathroom attendant who demanded $ 2. That happens in New York sometimes, but this crap hole is way to crappy to have something like that ;)

This weekend was my first time in Louisiana. Everyone here in NOLA has been amazingly friendly and welcoming, with the one exception being the people at this establishment. My friend and I saw a black guy get kicked out of this bar, and we aren’t sure why. The whole place only had white people patronizing it. We decided to go in and check it out out of curiosity. My friend was grabbed right away around the shoulders by the mc. On the microphone he yelled, «The last black left; here’s a new one!!» The crowd of patrons laughed and my friend and I just stood there. I was not laughing and neither was my friend. I grabbed my friend and we went back out. The mc followed us and asked why we were leaving. I said to him, «That wasn’t ok.» Rather than apologize, he said, «It was ok!» Do not support this establishment. Any decent person will not support this place after reading this.

Rented the balcony here on a deal through a third party company during our Mardis Gras visit to New Orleans earlier this year. This was easily one of the nicer options that this company offered(Swamp being one of the others). The venue itself definitely reminded me of a frat party or two I’d hosted in our house back in my college days, the floors sticky, the drinks just a red cup away from being passed out by a guy in a bathrobe with a glow in the dark magic marker, and while it seems to claim a country bar theme, we didn’t get to see or try the bull, or hear any country music for that matter — not that I’m broken up about it. The company who booked us the Balcony experience seems to have their stuff in order when you book, but I think they might have this down to science that’s made to get the best of some tourists. They sell the evening as all you can drink and eat as well as exclusive use of the balcony, the venue holds as many as X between the balcony and the room but the never allow that many in. The best part of the experience was the all you can drink, however for the inflated price per guy we paid, I think a couple ‘Huge Ass Beers’ would have done the same trick for a fraction of the price My issues were as follows: 1. While they claim to undersell the balcony patrons tickets, everyone wants to be on the balcony so unless you get there early, you’re not getting prime balcony real-estate. You’re relegated to the side street or worse, inside 2. All you can eat, was not so. When we arrived the food had been picked over. In post trip conversation’s I’d had with company they claim to have refilled it several times, but no one in our group of 13 seems to have gotten much beyond leftover scraps anytime we went back to the buffet table. So either we were too slot or they weren’t refilling with very much. IDK. All in all the groom was happy with the experience, and that’s what counts. I think I’d rather pay for a private balcony in future next time than go with one of these party companies… then again I think I’d rather come back to NOLA during a time other than Mardis Gras

I was here both nights I was in New Orleans, so clearly it’s fun. One floor of dancing with the main centerpiece being the mechanical ‘bull’, which costs $ 5 to ride. No, I did not ride and no, I did not show my boobs, but it seemed like most of the rest of the females in the bar took advantage of one or more options there. Lots of country music and dancing, and a smart bar staff. I was surprised by how expensive the drinks were compared to… everywhere else on bourbon street($ 5.75 for a beer when everywhere else was $ 3 max), which was a downfall, but the music was awesome. This is a good place to come mid-night out(too early and you’re wondering why you’re watching so many breasts at 6pm, too late and you’re buying too many effing expensive beers without remembering).
