Coukdnt even change an intertube. Had a flat on a friends bike and pulled over to have the tube changed. They guy obviously didn’t know what he was doing. Didn’t even know the correct pressure to fill it to. Went next door to Kermit’s place and two hours later the tire was flat, it was pouring down rain and the place was closed.

Talked to this guy as he worked on my bike for a long time. Apparently BQ is under new management, they’re well-aware of their reputation, and no longer buy bikes period to avoid picking up stolen ones. I’ll also say that this dude sold me a wheel set that mysteriously popped 5 inner tubes in 2 days, and he replaced them free of charge, basically nullifying any profit he made off the wheels or the labor. When that didn’t work, he let me swap them back for a wheel set that cost $ 20 more, and said I «could» pay him the $ 20 if I wanted to. I did, cuz he worked with me throughout the whole process and generally seemed like a realass dude. Sounds like they’ve had some image issues in the past but I think they’re working hard to change those.

Yep they buy and sell stolen bikes on the regular at this shop. Also I’ve heard about other dicey things going on with there«mechanics». Might be a better idea to go to a more respectable bike shop instead of supporting this cancer in the NOLA cycling community.

I’m confused as to what is going on here. I run a stolen bike page on Facebook. Lot of people reporting they found their bike here. One even with the U lock around the frame and wheel. Owner says he takes ID of those who sells him bikes. I hope so. Hate to think the worst. But for now they get one star from me. The fact is if your bike is stolen it somehow winds up here!

If you are into buying stolen bikes this is the place to buy one. This dude buys stolen bikes on the cheap, takes them apart, and sells them to you. I went there after my bike was stolen and his comment was«there are lots of bikes that look like that in this city.» Except that I had made enough changes that you would definitely know it if you saw it. He had my bike, lied to my face, and because I didn’t have the serial number on me at that moment I couldn’t do anything.

I can’t say much more than what the consensus among the bicycling community seems to be, that this is the largest reseller of stolen bikes in NOLA. I have seen it far too many times to believe its accidental.

Has your bike been stolen? It’s a pretty safe bet it’s at Baller Quest, being disassembled and scattered about. Seriously, go to Stolen Bikes NOLA on facebook. Peter Stanley is well known for buying stolen bikes for next to nothing from crackheads and garden-variety bike thieves… ANDPASSINGTHESAVINGSONTOYOU! Please don’t encourage such rampant bike theft in NOLA, think about getting a bike elsewhere. This is the opposite of what this community needs. This place is as creative and as cheap as they come, yes… But equally as shifty and sideways.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to support and encourage bike thieves. They provide a valuable service in our community by ensuring that thieving junkies will always be able to get their next fix by simply stealing a bike. Without them those people would probably have to get jobs… These people have it hard enough being losers without having to work for a living. Luckily they won’t have to so long as Baller Quest is around, any scumbag with a pair of bolt cutters is ensured a steady income so long as he’s not afraid to steal a bike from someone who probably relies on it as their main mode of transportation. I give them one star, only because they provide this valuable service to the cycling community. UPDATE! —– It has come to light that the owner«doesn’t have to do any of this» and could easily live elsewhere and get a full time job… A true humanitarian I guess, giving all that up to support needy bike thieves.

He has fixed my bike twice now and we take all our bikes to him whenever we need something done. He is SO quick and knowledgeable, will repair anything for you in no time for the cheapest price you will find in bike shops in NOLA. Highly recommend! He also builds trick bikes and has other inexpensive bikes for sale.

I was looking to get a bike for me, since I had just gotten here and wanted to get myself acquainted with my new neighborhood. I was on a budget, so finding a good bike at a great price was my priority. I found what I was looking for at Baller Quest. Peter Stanley, the owner, is very helpful and nice, and makes you feel very comfortable. He showed me all the bikes he had that matched what I wanted and even offered a small discount on the one I chose, a Schwinn vintage cruiser. I tried many bikes until I picked mine, and I have to say it was a tough choice! The place seems a little crammed, but if you don’t mind that, I would definitely recommend a visit.
