Wow. Amazing! So friendly, fun, easy, and spacious. And way better than Bicycle Michael’s where they were surly with us for no apparent reason.

Had a great, easy experience here. Sitting just off the corner of Marigny and Chartres, directly behind the Friendly Bar, the storefront boasts an edgy décor with an equally alluring (and pretty cool) logo on display. The shop is aesthetically pleasing. Quaint, yet abundant with accessories, bike rentals, and a vibe inviting of the possibility to unknowingly spend more time in a bike shop than you’d expect without growing impatient.
Alex was great in fixing a previous issue I was having with my bike after having it serviced at a different shop. Even though my issue was rather minor, I could see he had quite a few other bikes to be worked on, yet I was able to get my bike in, serviced, and out the same day. Almost unheard of at any other bike shop I’ve been to no matter how big or small the issue.
Pricing I found to be fair, not much different than most other shops, but I’d choose to come here in the future because of the more personal interaction. I was impressed at the fact that Alex remembered customers returning to get their bikes, by name. To me, that shows a level of service and dedication that is not to go unrecognized.
Not being much of a night rider, I hadn’t previously had any head or tail lights on my bike. It took no convincing, merely a brief conversation, slight impulsion, and the comfort in knowing I’d be safer having them, to make that purchase. He even threw them on my bike and had me out of there in no time.
Great bike shop with even better service, I highly recommend.

V good bike shop ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would bring busted chain in again. Alex is a sweetheart who genuinely wants to help you out with your bike. Do your bike stuff here.

Sold my bike before moving here and don’t have a good place to store one, so I’ve been looking for a place to rent a bike for the occasional in-​town recreational ride. I found the other shops in this part of town to be really expensive (could have bought a decent bike for the cost of three or four rentals) but I stumbled upon Alex’s place recently and saw that, for people like me who only want to ride for a half day or less, he has a very reasonable price structure, which includes a helmet and a lock — a great deal. Plus, he’s friendly and helpful. I am happy I found Alex’s and I plan to become a regular customer.

Great little shop. Very nice people who take their work seriously. Had them due a little tune up on an old Schwin road bike and it rolls like a dream.

Quick review: What an outstanding experience! If you want to rent a bike in New Orleans for an exceptionally great price ($ 3 per hour!) with excellent customer service, Alex’s Bikes is your place.

All credit to my boyfriend for discovering Alex’s darling little purple shop. We were looking for an inexpensive and convenient bike rental in New Orleans so we could ride up to City Park and explore for the day. Most places in NOLA are $ 10 per hour per bike. Alex’s Bikes rents for $ 3 an hour!
It should be noted that they only offer cruisers with coaster brakes (back pedal to stop) for rent. But for our purposes, this was perfect! The rental comes with a helmet, lock/​key and bike basket.
From the moment we walked in to the time we left on two bikes, the rental process took about 5 minutes. You fill out some quick paperwork, provide a credit card for a deposit of $ 1.09 and try out the bike seat height for size, which they help you adjust. They also gave us great recommendations for how to safely bike to City Park.
We ended up keeping our cruisers for 4 hours, and cut it a little close making it back before their 6pm closing time. Not only did Alex text me to check in and confirm that we were planning to be back before closing, but he ended up waiting for us as we had mentioned that we wanted to return same day. Very considerate!
Give Alex’s Bikes a visit and you will not be disappointed!

I love Alex’s bikes.
They tuned my bike up very quickly, and was very affordable. They fixed problems with my bike left by previous tune ups at another local bike shop. They were knowledgable, fun, and clearly gave my ride the attention it needed. The U-​locks and other accessories are some of the cheapest I’ve seen in town.
I’m not going to Gerkens or Bicycle Michaels, I’m going to Alex’s!

Rented a bicycle from Alex had a flat tire he came and repaired it on the spot and refunded my rent for the day highly recommend his services

Had the best experience with these guys. I had lost the keys for my bike lock and they were super helpful. Even when I wanted to check prices they were super patient and not pushy… I did find they have the best price on locks for the quality. Thanks!
