Best sushi in town! I was a little skeptical when my boyfriend and I first pulled up but man, what a treat! We started with a miso & clear soup – both yummy. We ordered a Nemo roll, Aloha roll, Saints Go Go Go roll – each of them incredibly tasty. The fish was so fresh it felt like it melted in your mouth! Our waiter was very attentive and very friendly too. Excellent experience and even happier to find my go to sushi spot!

Nick the server was nice. Termites were all over my Line Sister which made me fidgety and uncomfortable for her as I hate the concept of having extra protein and it wasn’t the most brightly lit place. Anywhoo, I was shocked there wasn’t a live hot hibachi cook top but was okay it wasn’t there as I have tipped not to have the show. Yet, I have an issue with the price point without the whole cooking chef. Plus, NOSCALLOPS! Deduct all stars What in the world. No shrimp appetizer! Deduct all stars No birthday offerings nor celebration. Deduct 4 stars My crew said the Avocado popper was exceptionally good. I mean all 6 out of 6 said this. We didn’t get the Stuffed Jalapeño app but please note the ambiance works for the place. They would do better with a screen door. The Miso soup has a thicker broth and isn’t the best flavor. I’d go with the Clear Soup under all conditions. The parking lot included a Latino panhandler who’s story did follow a script and I spoke on to him in Spanish he replied in English. Persistent he was. The kitchen genuinely stops cooking at 9pm. I hope this review helps someone who’s searching for things like: no Scallops, no Birthday offering/deals, no Hibachi show or cooking chef, full size shrimp cooked nicely, veggies solely onions, mushrooms, zucchini and all in all I had a great time because I was with friends that are more like family.

I waited over two hours for my food to be delivered, only to be berated by a delivery man who showed up at the wrong location. The food is decent but i will never order from them again.

Wow… what an awesome place. The sushi is fresh. It is small place but outstanding food. Had several specials and they were unique and really good. A must place to eat.

Awesome little sushi restruant! Service is great. All of the waiters and waitresses are very nice. The sushi is the best I’ve had in the New Orleans area.

Great fried sushi rolls at fair price. Rolls are on the small side but flavorful and well plated. Our server was very courteous also. Would definitely recommend this place for an informal occasion.

Wow, that was a great meal. Nicholas was our server and he deserves an A+++++. Very attentive, witty, and knew his sushi. The shaggy dog roll was amazing — really really good, nice presentation, fresh crunchy/warm shrimp tempura, layers of crab on top. The tuna on tuna was delicious but the spicy tuna was a little mushy. The cucumber salad was a treat — long strands of finely chopped cucumber in a ponzu/sesame sauce. Chicken/shrimp hibachi was large and well spiced — the fried rice was really garlicy — which I love, but if you are not a huge garlic fan, might want to ask for light garlic. We will dine again. Neighborhood is on the sketchy side so watch yourself. Maybe 6 tables and a few booths — casual /divey restaurant setting. Tip: ask for the hibachi sauces as a side for your sushi rolls, you will not be disappointed. Two sauces — yummy sauce and a ginger sauce. Both tasty.

My husband and I ordered through their website for delivery. First of all, the process is so simple! They have everything on the menu and include comments boxes for modifications. Then, they send emails letting you know when your order will be delivered. Ours said an hour, but they arrived in less than 30 minutes. I’m definitely loving that! The food was great. We both ordered hibachi dishes(chicken and steak), which included miso soup, salad, veggies, and fried rice. I actually ordered extra veggies in place of my salad, so I was happy they accommodated me. I will definitely order from them again next time I’m craving Japanese.

My restaurant reviews typically include things like parking, ambiance, service, etc. But let’s face it, restaurants are all about eating. Every now and then you eat at a restaurant and the food is so good that the rest just doesn’t matter. Sure the parking is terrible. Yes it’s small. The décor inside is borderline cheesy. The location right next door to a daiquiri shop isn’t ideal for a peaceful dinner. However, this was some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. We passed up about 15 other different sushi options on Unilocal to try this place, even though we were really looking for a place with a hip vibe(i.e. Rock-N-Sake). More than the vibe though, we wanted to discover a new place with good sushi. This was the place. Our server was a character, and he recommended some great stuff. Really nice guy and great server(just don’t get him started on politics). We had Gyoza and sake to start with. Both great. We had 3 different rolls, all with very different flavors. The Asuka roll was very good. It was fried, but had a lot of flavors. Second we had the El Diablo roll. It was the perfect amount of crunch and heat with the fresh jalapeños on top. Absolutely loved that roll. Last but not least, we had the Aloha roll. My fiancée described it as life changing. I couldn’t really argue. It was a perfect sweet follow up to the el Diablo. The mango sauce with the mango and avocado was a great combination. 3 great rolls, soup, sake, and an appetizer for $ 50. Not a bad price for such great quality sushi. If you are looking for an ultra romantic or ultra hip vibe, this isn’t your place. If you’re looking for damn good sushi, this is a must stop.

I pass by this joint literally every day! I never knew that it could be good. It’s definitely a hole-in-the-wall based on outside appearance. Located on Earhart, next door to the Daiquiri place, It looks small and uninviting in an obnoxious red building. I step inside and I’m surprised! It’s a cute sushi place! There’s about seven booths and four or five tables maybe? Very small but cute. Our server had a great personality. The menu had pictures — very enticing to a hungry crowd. None of the appetizers were special or different from your regular sushi joint. I went with my classmates and we ordered almost instantly based on pictures. We got Gyoza, Asuka Roll, Louisiana Roll, and the Saints GO go go roll. Gyoza was delish, you can’t really go wrong there. The Saints go-go-go roll was fresh, delicious and perfectly sized Unfortunately, our hungry eyes did not notice that Louisiana Roll and the Asuka roll are practically identical. The Louisiana Roll just had shrimp tempura and the Asuka does not. There’s a $ 4 difference too… I would rather two Asuka rolls instead of paying extra for that shrimp — I could hardly tell it wasn’t in the Asuka roll. I’m not used to eating fried rolls, but this roll was good! It had a good flavor combination with just the slightest hint of spice. Based on location(right next to school), and super fast service(we were in and out in 30 minutes), I would definitely return again and again. I would like to come back and try different rolls and appetizers.

This place is legit. I forget the name of our server, but he was a sweetie. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies, so of course we ordered way too much. It is a quaint establishment, and the rolls were great. I cannot remember the roll i had, but my friend had the Sushi sampler and he enjoyed it. The house salad is good, and i lovvvve the ginger dressing. i would definitely return.

If not for Unilocal I would never have noticed or tried this fantastic little sushi spot. It’s a tiny space next to a daiquiri shop on Earhart Blvd. just off Carrolton. Look for the Jeep. Parking is a little weird, but we found a space by circling around the back side. The dining area is pretty small, only 8 tables, but the service was great, the sushi fantastic and we found out that they will deliver to our house(they deliver anywhere within 3 miles, all of 70119 is IN!) for a $ 20 minimum and a $ 2.50 up-charge, fair enough. We had the seafood salad, the pesce hamachi & the Nemo roll. The salad had just enough greens, some chopped sashimi pieces and a lightly sweet cream dressing. The pesce hamachi was thin sliced yellowtail sashimi drizzled with chili sauce and sitting in a thin ponzu. And the Nemo Roll had spicy tuna roll on the inside and sliced salmon on the outside. Everything was beautifully presented and very flavorful and light. We will definitely be back to try some more of the delicious sounding rolls that others have described, or maybe we will stay home and have them delivered!

STOP! You now officially know about The BEST sushi in New Orleans. Pretty sure, the BEST sushi in the US. I’m not going to say the BEST in the world– but Japan, look out! New Orleans has been on a sushi kick for a while now, and Asuka is the proud child of our love affair with this edible art form. Their speciality rolls are the stuff to write home about. The stuff of legends. I’m sure if Picasso or Degas were still alive today, they’d be eating at Asuka. And these are no exaggerations. In fact, I have yet to find a comparison appropriate enough for their food. The Louisiana Roll is definitely up for nomination for«THE Last Meal You’ll Ever Eat» category. As soon as you say«crawfish, snow crab, fried shrimps, avocado, cream cheese and smelt roe wrapped in soy paper then dipped in tempura batter to be fried, drizzled with eel and spicy mayo sauce,» your mouth just starts watering. This is the roll I give to people who don’t like sushi. Raw fish? There’s nothing in this roll that’s remotely raw. Everything is cooked when it’s then DEEPFRIED then drenched in sauce. Quintessential New Orleans, right? Then they got others to satisfy your need for heat. The El Diablo is perfect for those that like a little kick in their sushi. Spicy assorted raw fish, jalapeños and Sriracha chili, this roll is guaranteed to clear up any sinus problems you have. I love to balance the heat from that roll with the sweetness of the Aloha roll. HUGE chunks of fresh salmon, snow crab and avocado wrapped in seaweed, with ripe mango slices on top. Then they serve it with this homemade kiwi-mango sauce. I would love to just bathe in that sauce. In fact, ALL their sauces are homemade. Their eel, teriyaki, tempura. I’ve worked AND eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants but I’ve never seen one take the time and care this place does. Owners Mia and Louis truly care about their food and patrons. And it shows. They remember all their regular’s orders, and I’m rapidly becoming one of them. In fact, I love this place so much, I’ve been holding onto this review because I know that my little gem will blow up and get busy. Then I take a bite of their food and realize how selfish I’m being. Everyone needs to know. Seriously what’s not to love? EVERYTHING on their menu is amazing. Get the avocado popper and stuffed jalapeños, then thank me after! Place is small, and it’s not in the best of neighborhoods. But they did their best to make the interior seem like an oasis. Clean unisex bathroom. Comfy booths. Outstanding service. And they deliver! Be still my beating heart! You forget about the weird parking lot and craziness of Earhart and allow all your troubles to melt away as soon as you have your first bite of that divine goodness. I normally don’t consider myself a religious person, but places like Asuka make you realize that God created a mouth and tastebuds, so we can taste food like their LA roll. The creaminess of that melted cream cheese is the perfect compliment to all that seafood and fried batter. I never thought you could top the yumminess of fried shrimp, but Asuka does with style and flair. And a touch of grace. Sometimes, I’m eating my roll, and I’m transported to another dimension. I have a transcendental moment when I realize the sheer perfection of each mouthful of food. Nothing else matters but each bite. Bills, arguments, worries melt away as my entire being focuses on the next morsels. How could each ingredient compliment each other so well? How could you literally taste LOVE in each bite? How can something taste as beautiful as it looks? Those are my koans as I seek joy and peace through these rolls and this tiny restaurant in that easy-to-miss intersection. And moments like that make me realize I’m the ultimate foodie. Asuka and their LA roll is my Heaven. Hallelujah!

*3.5 Stars* I ordered take out from this place because they offer it and it was literally so packed there was not a single seat available. Anyway, This place is only 2.5 miles away(i.e. 5 – 7 minutes or less) so I decided taking the sushi home would not be too bad. It took a bit longer than I expected and I was sort of awkwardly standing there waiting for my sushi for what seemed like awhile. Now, I previously gave this place 5 stars, but I am deducting 1.5 because the service was not that great for me this time and I was not all that excited about the sushi. It was not bad it was just not quite on point. I ordered the tuna and tuna roll and the Metairie roll. Both were much messier looking than I expected, like they were made in in a hurry and tossed in the box. Consistency is important for me and there is some inconstancy going on here. That being said, there are a lot of other rolls I have not had yet. Also the sashimi is cut thick which is nice and the seafood always tastes fresh. I will definitely give them another shot, maybe this was just a weird occurrence, it happens. I still believe this place has the potential to be near or at the head of the pack for sushi but needs to work on consistency and efficiency.

2.75 Stars. I was told by a friend that I had to try this place. While it was all OK, nothing blew me away. I agree with whoever posted the 2.75 star rating. I ordered octopus nigiri, a sashimi sampler appetizer, and the Sumo Roll. The quality of this fish was all spot on, but lots of places in the city have great fish. The sashimi app was fine, there are other places in the city which give you more variety on fish. The octopus nigiri was good. I was really looking forward to their Sumo Roll, since rolls are where sushi chefs can differentiate themselves from other restaurants by creating unique flavors. It’s advertised as a Dynamite Roll, which is supposed to be spicy, topped with salmon, tuna, and crunchy garlic oil. I expected a burst of flavor, but it was all just OK-again, the fish was good, but there was little to no spicy flavor. The location is awful, right off of Earhart Boulevard, next to drivers speeding by. Their parking lot is tiny and partially unpaved, and street parking nearby is limited, not to mention the iffy area. The interior of the restaurant is nice, it’s clear they’ve worked really hard to try and create an ambiance. One annoying thing, it was almost 100 degrees outside and didn’t feel much cooler inside. You’re in Louisiana, crank up the A/C. It’s OK, but with other great sushi places in the city that aren’t in sketchy locations and have convenient parking, it’ll probably be a while before I head back here.

My review is for delivery only, not dining in. Welp, this is probably my new favorite sushi restaurant in New Orleans… the fact that is delivers to my house is just a huge bonus. Our order included: Pesce Maguro(Thin sliced Tuna w/white truffle oil, wasabi yuzu sauce, black salt and scallion)-Delicious. The tuna was fresh and we were mixing leftover rice into the sauce remnants because it was too good to waste. Tri Color Sashimi(Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail sashimi) — Excellent representation of the quality and freshness of the fish. The salmon was buttery and melted in your mouth. El Diablo Roll(Mixed Spicy Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Crunchy, Cucumber, top with Escolar, Jalapeño, Chili & Ponzu sauce)-Very tasty spicy roll. Not as flavorful as the White Ninja at Geisha Sushi, but definitely more generously sized. Beef Teriyaki-Well cooked, tender beef and grilled onions. Sauce was on point. Gyoza-Basic pork gyoza. Decent, but I probably wouldn’t order again.

By far one of my favorite places to grab sushi/hibachi in the city. Super inexpensive. Kind of a hole in the wall– not a place you’d necessarily go unless you know about it. But honestly, I go here 2 – 3 times a week and it never gets old. It’s pretty hard to find a place that has sushi AND hibachi that doesn’t cost a fortune per person. Anyways, I always get the same thing: crunchy roll + miso and my boyfriend gets hibachi steak & shrimp(which comes with fried rice, hibachi veggies, and miso). The grand total generally comes out to be about $ 25. **if it’s during their lunch special(which lasts until 4:00 on weekdays, it’s about $ 19)… ENOUGHSAID. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place, they never ever disappoint. I highly recommend it!

This place was a hidden gem! The inside was pretty cool and I’m weird but I really liked the bowls they used for the soup and the salads. The food was so good! And very reasonably priced. We got 7 rolls of sushi for about $ 60! I think that’s pretty awesome. My favorite roll was definitely the Aloha. The sauce is so delicious with it and their fish is super fresh. The seating inside is pretty small and limited, and the parking is scarce but it’s totally worth it. And I found it pretty sweet that they offered delivery! I would definitely recommend this place this anyone, and plan on going back someday!

This is a great little place that delivers. Not the best location(there are scary, deep holes in their parking lot), but their sushi is of good quality, and their lunch specials are super cheap. Their portions are huge, especially for the price. They’ve always kept their delivery times within the delivery window stated, and their online ordering system is easy to use. Inside the restaurant, service is great, and the inside is pretty nice, but seating is limited. they were pretty empty when I was there on a weekday during lunch, but their delivery driver was in and out quite a bit. I think the restaurant’s exterior and location keeps people away.

BLUF: Best sushi in Mid-City(not many options… but still). Very friendly service in a small cute little restaurant. Good menu options with helpful pictures. Yesterday was my birthday. We felt like sushi but were tired of Tokyo(nothing wrong with Tokyo). Asuka is in a weird location but glad we went. Just a few tables so we were surprised we didnt have to wait. One waitress but she was super nice. Cheap $ 4 glasses of wine. We got 4 rolls between the two of us and it was the perfect amount. I have no clue what we ordered but they were all amazing. We got 2 that didnt have rice and they were great. All of them had substantial amount of fish in them as well which was nice. Prices were fine. Really a great place and we’ll be back the next time we want sushi in our neighbhorhood.
