Unfortunately, Sweet NOLA has closed. We will all miss the amazing, amazing cupcakes. And the amazing, helpful staff. Sweet NOLA, we barely knew ye.

Slightly sketch on the outside. Deliciousness on the inside. I am ethically mandated to give other cupcakes a chance at «best in town» but dare i say these are Strong contenders for the championship.(oooh, is it a cup?) True, the cake is a bit heavy for my tastes, but it is so perfectly moist that i found myself appreciating how substantive it was. The frosting is perfection. It’s light, well flavored, and not too far on the sweet side. One day, I’m going to skip lunch and just have cupcake. I will probably still be full & definitely will still be happy. I had a hummingbird, a sweet potato, and a chocolate with strawberry frosting. All amazing and all from yesterday’s selection. Sue me, I’m frugal. If the day-olds are this good, the fresh ones might inspire me to update this review. I wouldn’t be opposed. At all.

They all were very tasty(very rich and sweet), reasonable priced and very pretty. I would definitely recommend this place for your next cupcake cake occasion. Eating local never tasted so good!

We’ve been passing this place a lot and always wondered of if it was any good. Well it is. The owner is nice woman and it is clear that her passion is cakes. I ordered 3 cupcakes. I had a lemon meringue, cinnamon, and red velvet cake. They were all delicious. The icing wasn’t overpowering and the cake was moist. Don’t let the tough exterior deter you. These are some of the cupcakes in the city.

Great cupcakes and service. I ordered a pull apart cupcake cake from Sweet Nola for my birthday. They were very helpful getting the cake ordered and it came out beautifully and delicious. Everyone eating it thought it was awesome. Added bonus is they were significantly cheaper than any of the other cupcake places I called in the area, such as Kupcake factory.

I LOVE a good cupcake and that is exactly what is sold at Sweet NOLA. I used to frequent Kupcake Factory at least twice a week, but I have since stumbled upon Sweet NOLA. These cupcakes may have been the best I have ever had(and trust me I have had cupcakes from all over the country). I tried the red velvet a couple of weeks ago and it literally changed my life. I have since been back to Sweet NOLA to have the coconut, lemon, german chocolate, and wedding cake, which have all been outstanding. The cupcakes have all been moist and had just the right amount of icing. I cannot wait to be able to try every flavor cake in the shop in the future

Thanks to Kerri R., I came upon this little cupcake shop cause I’ve been watching the Foodnetwork way too much for my own good(and Cupcake Wars makes my cravings for sweets even worse than it is already) haha. Sweet NOLA Cupcakes is at the corner of Earhart Blvd and Fern St, with a few parking spots in front of the shop(enough for maybe 5 cars?) so no need to drive around too much to look for street parking. The shop has a feeling of :) cause the color choice of the decorations are along the lines of the Tiffany Blue(of the Tiffany & Co), and what girl doesn’t love Tiffany’s? Their cupcakes are very reasonably priced($ 2.25 each), and on the bottom of the display case are cupcakes from the day before that they sell at a discounted price(I think it was $ 1 something?). Their flavor choices vary from day to day, and the nice lady who helped me pointed out what flavors they were going to have the next few days. Now on to the cupcakes themselves. I waited till I got home to try the cupcakes that I bought, which were red velvet and German chocolate. Pretending to be a judge on Cupcake Wars, I used a fork to dissect the cupcakes, first tasting the icing by itself, then the cake, then both together. The red velvet cake had a nice texture to it and was moist, while the cream cheese frosting wasn’t heavy either. The overall taste was average to me, but satisfying nonetheless. The German chocolate’s icing was BOMB! I quite liked the mixture of walnuts and coconut flakes, but the cake itself was kind of dry and lacked flavor. The flavors offered the day that I went(Wednesday) were usual of cupcake shops, and I guess I was just on the search of something out of the ordinary(like the rose cardamom cupcake at Native Foods café in Los Angeles… yum), so I guess my cupcake journey continues :)

The first time I came across a cupcake shop, I was in awe of the line wrapped around the block of New York City bakery, The Magnolia Bakery. I had never been to a bakery so dedicated to cupcakes, those perfect single serving delicious delights. And then the cupcake craze began. Cupcake shops started showing up on every corner in big cities. And New Orleans, always a step behind New York, LA, and Chicago, finally joined the races. Finally, they were here!!! Kupcake Factory, Bee Sweet, even Sucre were opened to satiate the«sweet tooths» down South. And they were DISAPPOINTING!!! Too much frosting, overly sweet, stale, just downright a waste of money…$ 2.75 for a cupcake!!! You can buy your own box of cake mix for $ 1.00 and get 24 cupcakes! Then came Sweet NOLA cupcakes on Earhart Blvd. near Carrollton. Miss Ella and her sons finally got it right. They offer delicious, beautifully decorated cupcakes, and a great family atmosphere. My favorite cupcake is the strawberry. Miss Ella does a vanilla cake base with fresh strawberry chunks in the mix, and just the right amount of whipped strawberry icing. The cake is extremely moist and dense like a muffin, and the natural sweetness of the fresh strawberry chunks is unbeatable. My husband and I have also had the lemon, German chocolate, peanut butter caramel, and banana nut varieties… all have been SOGOOD! Miss Ella and Sweet NOLA Cupcakes, I hope you’re here to stay because we’re so happy to welcome you to the scene!
