Windfall Restaurant

Really cool place. Food is delicious! We all really liked fried calamari! Burgers delicious! Fish and chips with coleslaw awesome and the portion was huge! Good enough for next day lunch: D they had two kinds of cider among other bar selection. And the staff was really friendly.

This is my go to place for lunch in midtown. You can have a conversation and actually hear each other! The wait staff and manager are welcoming and attentive. The food is good with great filling salads and other great choices.
Happy hour is great too!

On 11÷22÷15 at around 2:30 am they were clearly experiencing some kind of tech issue with their credit card reader. My sister and I offered multiple cards to try (one of which was a debit card, so I could easily confirm that there was indeed $$ available), and as we were about to provide a fourth card, the bartender advised us that he would be «letting us go THIS time.» Ha! Completely laughable as my sister and I are both professional women who make comfortable salaries and with more than enough money to afford $ 10 drinks. But even if we had less money at our disposal, it is absolutely moronic and presumptuous to assume that we couldn’t afford our bill rather than asking us for cash payment, or asking for another card. The bartender was so convinced that we were broke that he rebuffed my attempt to provide him with alternate payment– how arrogant! He, of course, ignored me when I suggested that there was actually an issue with his machine (the unthinkable!). Completely disgusted, I just tossed some cash on the bar for him to settle the bill… what a fool. Unsurprisingly, I have made major purchases on my cards since that date without incident. Every time I think about that night, I get pissed again. Easily the biggest idiot I have encountered in the NYC service industry. I plan to post this review everywhere that I can possibly post it…

Every beer I ordered was flat and the nachos were mediocre. There are better options in this area.

A friend recommended. Owner very friendly, Ryan the bartender builds rapport very easily. Its easy to feel welcome in this place. Lot more men than women ratio on the night I went which was a friday night around 5pm. I ordered the shrimp in the salad which was cooked nicely and shrimp were still succulent. I also ordered the lobster bruschetta type appetizer and it was amazing. hearty helping of lobster and great taste.

Went here for a quick lunch and drink alone before class not too long ago. The ambiance was professional and classy. A little on the expensive side but the food was good. I got to Face time a long time lovely friend of mine out the country for at least an hour without any interruption. The staff was courteous and I would definitely return for a drink.

Pretty good experience. Prices seem fair. Portion size is ok. Different items on the menu. My husband got a bison burger and he loved it. I got a chicken club sandwich. Big bad. Kinda dry bread. But the appetizer we good was the chicken Thai skewers with peanut sauce. Now that was amazing.

I went to Windfall for a friends birthday party. The staff and owner were friendly and service was on point. This bar is known for being a great lunch/​happy hour/​after work spot but they proved that it’s an awesome venue to host private parties as well. Great drinks, music, and atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I came here after work one day to meet my friends. The bartenders and wait staff are all super friendly and on top of their game. If your drink is low, they will check if you need a refill.
I also had their Bison Burger with Brie and Caramelized Onions ($ 17), which was amazing. It was a bit steep but whatever, the taste made up for it for sure. I was in love with it. I was a bit upset they were out of mashed potatoes but glad they had sweet potato fries.
The prices are a little high but it’s still a good spot and the burger was amazing especially washed down with some Smithwicks. Definitely would return!

Really cool pub restaurant. Manager was very friendly. Corned beef was delicious. Nice atmosphere. Nice neighborhoody feel. Great place.

Seth the bartender was very generous and accommodating. Not a bad after work bar to check out.

Great service, the food was good, staff very friendly. I ordered the pork enchilada special (it’s a «fancy» enchilada, not anything like a chain Mexican restaurant :)). It was pretty good. The pork was tender (and there was a lot of it), and not drowned in various forms of fat such as cheese and sour cream (in fact there was no cheese nor sour cream).
I liked it.

Simple long bar and some seating, with a couple TVs and a sassy pretty waitress by the name of Mel who had great stories and a fun attitude.
A good time had by all! Haven’t tried the food, but the happy hour was fun. Will see how it is the next time I stop by and update again! :)

I had my engagement party here — we had a very small crowd, just a few friends, and from all the places we looked at, this place was the most helpful, accommodating, and really seemed to want to work with us (most of the other places didn’t want to deal with a party of only 20 – 25 guests). The midtown location was also convenient for most people working or taking mass transit.
The front part of the bar was roped off for our party. The bar menu was pretty good, and they were not skimpy on the portions. The servers were attentive and the manager came over several times to make sure were we happy. The price for the whole party was reasonable and our guests had a good time. We were happy and I would recommend looking at this place for an intimate party/​gathering.

We waited 15 minutes before a waitress came over, then another 15 minutes later we still were drinkless. All we ordered was 1 diet coke and 1 glass of wine, so there wasn’t a wait for a mixed drink. There were only a handful of other patrons present. We left since after 35 minutes of being there with nery a server in sight.

Been here a few times for lunch and always liked the Canadian thing they had going. Red maple leaf flags, hockey stuff around, poutine… you get the picture. Well I’m not sure what happened but on my last visit they seem to have rid themselves of all things Canadian (except for the flag outside).
Now it’s just a really boring midtown bar that I wouldn’t go 2 blocks out of the way to hit up.

Fun place to come for happy hour after work with a few coworkers or the whole office. There is an area at the front that can be roped off for groups or tall top tables and booths for smaller parties. Free chips and salsa just for sitting down is always a plus, especially when lunch was more than 5 hours prior. The lighting is pretty dark and around six the volume on the stereo turns up to an inaudible level, so don’t be afraid to ask to turn it down, the bar staff are extremely friendly. I love coming here!

I rarely write reviews for non-​Japanese places, but Windfall deserves one after I sat at the bar, asked the bartender for her recommendation, and was told to try the bison burger. I’m normally a bit skeptical about these kinds of menu items in what is essentially an upscale dive bar, but this burger is absolutely stunningly good. Get all the fixings and you don’t even need mustard or ketchup. The melted brie, grilled onions, and bison burger have enough flavor to keep you super happy. Wash it down with a cold draft beer — I went with the Molson Canadian, which isn’t on the menu, but is on tap.
Nice beer selection. Friendly staff. Nice sized and appropriately placed TVs that let you watch a game or two without being overwhelming.

Cute and spacious place for after work hang outs. Me and my coworkers came here to celebrate a former coworkers last day and it was perfect. Drinks were $ 5, and came in large or tall glasses, no wimpy drinking cup. And appetizers weren’t bad either. We had some buffalo chicken pieces, spicy with a sour kick, no celery though. The pizza and quesedilla were my favorite! Warm, cripsy and cheesy!

I came here for Wednesday night «hump day» drinks with some friends and coworkers. Windfall is overall a very standard Midtown bar. Beers are around 6 dollars with decent options on draft. The food was on the pricey side (and nothing special), so I would advise coming and just grabbing drinks. The atmosphere is very relaxed with friendly bartenders, and lacks the obnoxious folks who often frequent Midtown Bars after work.
Good place for after work drinks or to catch up with friends if you are in the area.
