On a recent trip back to NYC, stayed in midtown. Went on a groupon, but found their salmon cooked perfectly, which is not always the case.

Have always been a fan of Croton, great location. Food never bad, service staff understand fine dining and one of the best bar backs for a small Manhattan bar.

Walked by here countless times before finally setting up a happy hour with an old coworker of mine. Great check in special for a free draft beer, though it’s only for sam Adams. Happy hour is only downstairs and we were fortunate enough to have a big table just for us. I’m guessing it was too cold for people to be staying out after work? The rest of the drinks menu looked good. I like when restaurants have special priced food options for happy hour. I had nachos and they were a fair portion size and not presented sloppy. Attentive service. Happy hour goes until 10. I’m not rushing to come back here, but it’s a nice low key option to have in the area.

Friendly staff, decent food for Midtown. The certificate makes it an okay deal.

The spot is great for being in Times Square. The service is is good and they do have great bar good. The place had two levels, one on the main level and one in the basement. If you like redbull vodka, you will be disappointed because they do not have redbull.

I went here for a semi-private event at the Brick bar in the basement. They have happy hour specials which are 4 dollar domestic beers and 8 dollar mixed whatevers. I ordered their sliders: 1 each of short rib, burger and crab cake(need to pick at least 3). The short rib and crab cake were really good. I regret getting the burger which is really basic, just okay. My wife ordered mac n cheese and truffle fries. They were both good. The mac n cheese was yummy, but i wish they put more in the skillet it came in(they serve it on a skillet around 5 inches in diameter). The truffle fries are really good as well. It’s chopped thinly so they’re crispy, and they topped it all with cheese. I checked in on Unilocal and i got a free beer too! Do it!

Perfect place! My mother and I are visiting New York for Christmas and had a long day of traveling including delayed flights as well as being stuck on the plane. We got to our room late and are definitely new to the transportation system here in the city. Had difficulty getting a cab and it was raining so when we finally arrived we were definitely ready for a drink.(Oh by the way my mom had the 25 $ coupon!) We sat at the bar and the bartender quickly tended to us! He advised that the kitchen would be closing soon which was important news to us because we were starved. He recommended the spinach dip and sliders so we had spinach dip and sliders! Boy oh boy he steered us in the right direction. Spinach dip was the BEST I’ve ever had. We had the classic cheeseburger slider, buffalo chicken type one, and the crab cake one.(Minimum of 3 to order) They were all phenomenal but the buffalo chicken one was my fav! Has a hot wing with blue cheese taste… Fabulous! The bartender was super sweet, ambiance was super cool, and food was great! From Houstonians this was a GREAT first impression for us of the Big Apple!

Last night we went here for dinner. Food and drinks were great, but service was awful. And it took 30 minutes to get our first drinks. Server barely smiled and never checked on us, she was not friendly.

I’ve been here for different events and like the basement bar space. Last night came for dinner at the restaurant for the first time. The bar area upstairs gets crowded so people were overflowing into the area where we were dining and the noise level was really high. Sometimes the three of us had difficulty hearing each other. The food was very good but pricey. I would be back to try the food at the downstairs bar but not at the upstairs restaurant again. It was just too crowded and loud and not the experience I would expect for the price.

I ordered salmon and mashed potatoes, it was good this is the second time i have been here.. They will not bring bread unless you request it. Its a nice little space near Bryant Park with good food. I did not have a drink but they have a massive wall of liquor bottles behind the bar. I came here once last year and then again recently and even tho I like it, there was nothing that will get me rushing to come back soon, too many choices in NYC and this place does nothing to stand out. I would return Food– Good service — Average Atmosphere — Good

… open late(post theater snack) …good cocktails and lovey bar tender …dark cozy décor. Sorta standard. …can’t recall what I ate but it wasn’t bad. I vaguely recall it being pretty good. Or at least I didn’t want to chuck it in the trash. …stayed awhile so most have felt comfy

I don’t know why more people don’t come here! This is really the definition of a hidden gem. Came here with the coupon for $ 25 off $ 50. Because of that they couldn’t also do the $ 24 brunch special — entrée and 2 drinks. The waitress was very accommodating and suggested we order drinks separately as the bill would come out equal anyways. We ordered the skillet breakfast with poached eggs and the spicy chicken wrap with fries instead of chips. The skillet was delicious, the chorizo and home fries are worthy of going back. The wrap was just okay but shoestring fries were super thin and crunchy. In terms of the drinks, the mimosa and Bellini were awesome. Would recommend them both. We finished with the yogurt parfait(to reach $ 50) and it was presented beautifully. Overall, fast service, nice ambience with music and football on, amazing food for good prices. Will be back!

A friend and I came here for brunch. They had a good brunch special for $ 24, one entrée and two drinks per a person. I ordered the crab and arugula frittata($ 18) which was really delicious. The egg was the size of the plate(it was made very thinly) and I had a generous serving of crab. My friend ordered the steak and egg ranchero($ 14) and they liked it. We ordered one of each drink — Mimosa, Bellini, Melontini and Sangria. Our favorites was the mimosa and bellini. The drinks were decently good and tasty.

Happy hour is from 5−10pm and is pretty well priced(in thr basement). Domestics at $ 4 and crafts between $ 5 and $ 6. They have homemade chips for $ 3.50 that are pretty good. I’m a bigger fan of thicker cut kettle chips but these arent bad for thinner ones. Bartenders have akways been friendly and it’s usually not that crazy. Live DJ on Thursdays and Fridays as well.

This place is good for happy hour — nothing especially out of this world. Good to go with coworkers/groups for a cheap-ish drink at a place that isn’t divey. I opted to go with a dirty martini instead of the happy hour drink menu and it wasn’t good at all. The olive juice tasted sweet and she didn’t make it strong enough the first time around — she felt bad and offered to re make it. Even after remaking it, the olive juice didn’t taste fresh, maybe the sweetness came from the fact that it was old or cheap. The downstairs bar has a happy hour until 10pm. There weren’t many people down there but the music was blasting — the two didn’t exactly go together. Stick to basic mixed drinks or beers and you’ll be fine. I would go back with coworkers because it’s easy and there’s space to sit or chat in groups but I wouldn’t take friends there for a fun night out(since it’s midtown anyway).

A great brunch place in the city is usually over populated. Not this place! It’s a hidden place during the weekend, not many people know about it(like tourists and the locals are off). At least the few times I have been here(which were in the weekend). But during the weekday it’s busy especially during happy hour. This place has fantastic food. Now that I will be moving location. I am sad that I didn’t come her often. I will bring my family and friends when they come visit. It’s not busy at all in the weekend and the food is fantastic. You can’t beat that!

Stopped by for a early lunch — steamed mussels and a Sam Adams Rebel IPA. Came to $ 24 before the tip. I was happy. Nice looking place. Maybe a dozen draft beers. Bartender was cool, friendly, professional. Food came out of the kitchen promptly. Menu is a little pricey if this is not a business lunch.

Busy with another event, we walked into this darkly lit bar and grabbed a seat for dinner. The table was a bit tight(knocking knees under the table) but we made due. Difficult to talk over the noise from the people at the bar and the TVs. Lots of TVs at the long bar showing the various sporting channels. There’s pub fare(both small eats and main dishes). I tried the short rib rigatoni, which was not quite what I was expecting. The pork was a bit tough(not soft like short rib normally would be) and my coworker didn’t even finish the dish, she just left it aside and went straight for the brownies and ice cream dessert(which she said wasn’t bad). For $ 26 I expected better from the dish. The service was ok, and the tip was pre-added to the bill, so we left somewhat disappointed at the food, but the drinks(beer, mixed liquor) were done well. Come here for a drink, not the food.

Good place for dinner or lunch. We had lunch on a Tuesday and it was about 65% filled with customers. We sat in the basement which was darker than I would prefer, but fine. The service was quick and cordial. The menu had a good variety. This is a good restaurant but seems forgettable for some reason. Maybe it’s too much like other taverns in NYC but that’s not a bad thing.

So… once again Unilocal is nagging me to write reviews. That’s what happens when you put up photos and don’t immediately write the review LOL! Croton Reservoir Tavern was never on our«must try» restaurant list. We only ate here because that night it was raining buckets and it was 2 doors down from our hotel. It’s a bar first and a restaurant second — if you know what I mean. Most people are there for the bar. It attracts those who work nearby and want a drink before heading home. Their food menu is limited but it’s not difficult to find something to eat there. We both decided to try their chicken pot pie. It is unusually prepared as it comes to the table in a small cast iron pan with a square piece of puff pastry that has a circle cut into it. This just sits on top of the filling. The sauce was thin but flavorful. It had a good deal of chicken in it and the usual veggies — carrots, celery and mushrooms. A decent, if not memorable pot pie. To drink, I had a watermelon mojito. I didn’t taste any watermelon until I got to the end of the drink where there were chunks of watermelon sitting in the bottom of the glass. My husband had a Bloody Mary which he said was okay — nothing to write home about. Service was quite good — very friendly, prompt and efficient. Since the bar is busy, the place does get loud. So…if you visit NYC, you can find better food in this price range(moderate). Had the weather been better, we would have eaten elsewhere but in the event of bad weather and needing a place to eat, you could do worse.
