Not hidden so not much fun, quick/&friendly service! The bar selection is great but it is extremely dark inside, everyone is opening their flashlight on their iPhone to see drink & food menus. We only stayed for one drink to hunt for more exciting & hidden speak easys, we love a challenge and this one was everything but that. The curtains are not very secretive!

I do like this place a lot. Wish it was in a more convenient spot rather than Tribeca. The whole place is very dark with a walkway entrance that leads directly to the bar. I liked the mix of music and the dim romantic lighting. There are limited amount of tables but enough. I really love the drinks here. I had one of those«be-spoke» drinks or so the name they use to describe the drinks that are personalized. I wanted to try something«sweet but not dessert sweet, fruity sweet.» The bartender concocted a $ 16 drink that was amazing. It had some kind of gin in there. The bartenders were not as friendly but the overall ambience made up for it. The security guards were extra flirty and overly nice. I would definitely come back to this place for a quick drink if and ONLY if I’m in the area.

Very cool spot for a cocktail in TriBeCa. Hand crafted with about a million(or so it seemed) types of booze and the craft masters know what they are doing. I had a Buffalo Trace sazerac which was fantastic!!! Curry popcorn for $ 3 was very useful to soak up some of the bourbon. Space is dark and sexy. Good late night spot.

Quiet little place for a drink and something to eat. Their food menu is limited but has some good gems on it. The grilled cheese was very very good. Cocktail variety is unbelievably large :) I loved my drink and would surely go back here to try another from their menu.

Shrug. Ward 111 has potential but, at least today, it didn’t live up to it. The room looked nice, service was spotty, drinks were poorly made and overpriced for happy hour, and the AC was inexplicably on blast in December. Tater tots were addictive(but it’s hard to go wrong with tots), smoked trout deviled eggs were done nicely, and the Cuban sandwich was above average. The grilled cheese had a subtle honey taste but Ward 111 doesn’t have tomatoes so the consistency was breadier than I prefer. Oh, and don’t order the Paloma drink. Normally a good drink, this came to us, twice, as a weak margarita, with a salted rim. Sigh. I asked but apparently no one had ever noticed this and that’s how they are made here. Food runners were quick and attentive.

Came here on a Saturday night with a friend around 10 pm and this place was busy. Tables were reserved so it wasn’t easy to get seating, but we eventually grabbed one at the bar. The bartenders here know what they’re doing. They’re fast and smooth while making the drinks, so it was fun to watch. I started with Guavas & Love and it was really good! There were so many things going on in the drink and they worked so well together — definitely recommend this if you’re into something exciting. Got Rum’s the Word next and it was more toned down, but still pretty good. This place is pretty loud and has a DJ, so don’t expect one of the quiet and lounge type speakeasies(if you consider this a speakeasy) where you can have a quiet conversation — but it also isn’t ratchet like Blind Barber(probs due to location and people that come here). Would come here again just for the Guavas & Love!

great place to hangout with friends or with your date. Nice– dim lights– romantic-sexy! The drinks are really good. Must go. Crowd is casual-upscale-hip! You have to check it out.

My wife and I tried Ward lll upon recommendation from friends who live in New York. Let me say, it did not disappoint. One can order from their extensive drink list, but why bother when they invite you to encourage the bartender to mix a custom cocktail based on your own tastes. Nick, this evenings bartender, was incredible. After ordering a straight up old-fashioned, I then encouraged him to challenge my taste buds with the drink of his own creation. After a couple of questions, Nick serve me his version of an old fashion which elevated this standard cocktail to new heights. This is definitely a local place with local flavor and local flair, but if you are in town and in the Tribeca area don’t miss it.

Chill and nice lounge place. Sunday night was pretty slow, there weren’t many people here, only two bartenders who are doing everything. I didn’t see anything I liked on the menu so I asked the bartender to do something special with gin. Unfortunately it wasn’t a good drink– I can’t sense the gin at all and with st. Germaine it was still super tart/sour. Oh well, of course they charged extra $ 5 for«making it special». They also have a limited menu for food. But prob not going back…

I had met up with some friends here when I actually wasn’t allowed to drink alcohol for medical reasons, but hey, I figured they shouldn’t have to suffered. I told my waiter of my woe with the no booze and just said to throw some lemons or something into a glass for me. What I was presented with was a mocktail that was the stuff of dreams. A gorgeous watermelon color with a lovely cucumber spear. What on earth was in there is beyond me, but everyone had a sip and was jealous. Can’t wait to try some actual cocktails there. One Con– NOTCHEAP!

Superb cocktails! Loved the fact that we weren’t hassled at all on a Sunday evening and consequently ended up trying a lot of their«Bespoke Cocktails». Loved both my cocktails, both bourbon based! Others in the group who ordered Rye based cocktails from the bespoke cocktails menu were spot on! Will surely be back! Appetizers were cool too. Pickled veggies, deviled eggs, their equivalent of pigs in a blanket, buttermilk chicken tenders… Good finger food!

This trendy bar /lounge is serves good drinks but the unique aspect in here is the Bespoke menu where the patron chooses 5 aspects they want in their drink: spirit type, body, flavor, fruit, spice and the unique cocktail is concocted by the bartender! Been here a couple times. I think if you order the same flavor profile, the drink may or may not come out the same. I think it would depend on who the bartender is and his/her whim. Drinks are great nonetheless! The grub is decent here too!

Delicious cocktails and awesome smoked trout deviled eggs. I had an Old Fashioned with an aged Rum that was fantastic. The deviled eggs were unique and I highly recommend getting them. They have a plethora of other food and drink items to choose from as well. This place has a really great old school feel to it and Sarah is the best! I can’t wait to return.

One of the best bars I have been to in a while — Cocktails were not overly priced it was nice on a NYC level… The cocktails are drinks you have NEVER had before! Each of them made with such artistic consideration to taste and design! They even have a way to order and all you have to do is pick a few words off the menu and wall-la! a new personalized cocktail! Phenomenal!!! AND — they have popcorn(I am a sucker for a place that gets that sometimes people just want something to snack on while having conversations…) Oh yea and live DJ — seriously the music couldn’t have been more perfect — the ambiance it created at the perfect level of sound… I felt like it was loud but i could hear everything so I guess I would say a Full sound… Perfection — I will MOST definitely be back time and time again!

Ward III is a great spot for pre-dinner, post-dinner, and pre-game drinks. A couple of girlfriends and I dropped in on a Tuesday because none of us wanted to go home. It was a little past 10:30PM, but there were a handful of people enjoying a night cap just as we were. There was a couple, swaying in the middle of the room to the beat of the music. And a few others at the bar. And best of all, they were still open when we left at 2AM. They are open till 4AM all week! It’s in a part of town that houses both residents and smaller mom & pop shops, farther away from the tunnel– a beautiful part of the city, IMO. It’s a beautiful, long room with high ceilings that remind me slightly of a speakeasy/outhouse. There are many tables, including bar space, so you can bring a bigger group of people for after-work drinks or an intimate date. After a few glasses of Rose, we ordered their tater tots. It was delicious. But, if the lunch ladies in elementary school cafeterias can get it right, I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Manhattan restaurant. I’ll definitely be back for more drinks and more food.

The perfect winter bar! Ward III is tucked away on Reade street, and you might just miss it if you’re not looking. This cocktail bar has dim lighting, plush seating and drinks that will keep you warm all night. Their cocktail menu changes every season, and I’ve yet to try a bad one. Prices are pretty New York standard, but the bartenders know what they’re doing, so much so that I’d be willing to skip overpriced rooftops in the summer for these well-made drinks.

Oh, I love this bar. It’s so sexy. I’ve only ever been here on my own, and I’ll be sure to update this review when I bring a lucky guy here on a first date — believe me, it’s a phenomenal first date spot(especially if you think the lucky one’s promising!). I come here after work to let go of the day, and the really kind but certainly not overbearing bartenders take care of me wonderfully. Sometimes I choose a more private seat in the lounge section, but sometimes I choose a seat at the bar. Sometimes I choose one of their delicious glasses of chilled fresh fruit red wine sangria, and sometimes I ask the bartender to make me a custom cocktail based on my specific tastes. The last time I did that, he made me the most perfect drink: bourbon with muddled raspberries, lemon, simple syrup, and a ginger garnish, if I remember correctly. It was incredible. [I’m sure some people would hate this; I don’t care — it was perfect for me — ask him to make you your own drink!!] I’m not sure how to say this without sounding particularly depressing, but I work in a very difficult line of work, and sometimes I honestly need to treat myself directly afterwards. I need to forget what just happened without getting completely intoxicated — I just need to be transported to a different place and a different time — with people who do not care [not in the rude way, just in the mostly indifferent way] about what I do or what I’m about — and Ward III is my go-to place to do exactly that. I can’t afford it every day, but my god, when I go, I treasure it. PS. Get the soft pretzel.

This place is odd. The space itself is beautiful. It’s big with high ceilings, all exposed brick and dark wood finish, dim lighting and candles everywhere. It has potential to be a complete panty-dropper. However, last night(Wed) when my friend and I walked in, the DJ was badly mixing 80s pop at a volume that defied reason and certainly was in direct opposition to the vibe and ambiance one would expect in such a speakeasy establishment. If I’m coming to a bar to pay upwards of $ 15 for an artisanal cocktail, I certainly don’t want to hear a train wreck between Diana Ross’s «I’m Coming Out» and Biggie’s «Mo Money, Mo Problems,» let alone«Cruel Summer» or «West End Girls» at blaring volume. Certain things just don’t go together. On the other hand, the drinks were good. The bartenders were wearing vests and suspenders, so we all know that immediately establishes hipster mixologist credibility. Didn’t notice any mustaches or beards, but I let that slide. I had the Barrel-Aged Vieux Carré and my friend had a glass of Yamazaki. The menu is interesting and there are definitely some unique options. Prices are steep, but you knew that already. Bottom line, if I’m going out for the type of drinking that one does here, I’d prefer to do it elsewhere. Worth a visit if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t necessarily seek it out.

I’ve had this bar bookmarked for a really long time as I used to read Michael Neff’s columns on serious eats and I am a fan of The Rum House in the theater district. Problem is, I rarely go out in TriBeCa. But not too long ago my boyfriend and I attended a Tribeca Film Fest event and so after the show I suggested we check out this place. I really liked the atmosphere. It’s a classy neighborhood bar. It’s lively but not too crowded and we easily got a table even though it was a Saturday night. Of course, I had to try their bespoke cocktails. I asked for a pisco drink for my first cocktail and for a bourbon based one after that. Both drinks were really good but I will say that it’s probably best to do this when you’re sitting at the bar so you can actually have a conversation with the bartender and he’ll be able to come up with the exact drink you’re in the mood for that night. That said, the cocktails on their menu all seemed like solid options and my boyfriend enjoyed his drinks. For food, we ordered the chicken snacker and the beef melt sandwich. We were surprised at how good both of them were. And I loved the pickles! So over all definitely a great bar that lived up to its hype. I would be more than happy to walk over here if I’m ever in the vicinity.
