There’s nothing special to give more than 3 stars. It’s a good little stop in the financial district if you’re on your way to the Statue of Liberty or Memorial and want to sit inside and have a warm breakfast. Waffles and Eggs is what I had here no pancakes folks!

Nope. Just…no. If you answered«YES» to most of the questions below, you will LOVE Wafflaki: 0. Do you like going to a waffle bar that is mostly devoid of waffles? 1. Do you like continental breakfasts and paying nearly $ 10 for them? 2. Do you like waffles that obviously came from a Golden Corral machine? 3. Do you like seeing SABORDEMEXICO on your debit card transactions details? 4. Do you like seeing roaches on your way out? TL;DR: Wafflaki: not even once.

The food was okay, and it took a while to get our food. I doubt I would go back – there are plenty of better options nearby.

We left. The laws in this state say any restaurant must provable safe tap or drinking water at no charge. They may charge a few cents for a disposable cup. They refuse and insist you purchase water.

I ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle is delicious. The chicken is served a fried chicken breast. The skin fell off the entire chicken and the taste was off. I think it’s in the batter/flour they use. They need to work on it. Next time I’ll just get a waffle.

Food gets a 5 but the set up and service gets a 1. The food is very good and fresh. They seem confused to have people there ordering food. You order with some guy that walks around and he tells the cook what to make. We waited 40 mins for our food and it all came at different times. They need someone that has run a restaurant to help them. Coffee machine was broken so it was a major deal to get a cup of coffee. Again good food so do go, but know it will take some time.

This place is one of those hidden gems — great food for a cheap price! Much cheaper than most restaurants in the surrounding area. The menu is basically composed of two items in different arrangements, waffles and grilled sandwiches. Waffles come with the typical toppings such as strawberries, blueberries, apricots, whipped cream, etc. and a selection of syrups. There is also a waffle and chicken option, but come early since it tends to sell out early in the day. The chicken is phenomenal, albeit greasy and spicy but crispy and cooked by skilled hands. The rest of the menu is comprised of grilled sandwiches. There’s one big issue I have with this place, although it does have a silver lining: the wait time for food — everything is made to order. Each meal order takes about 10 mins to prepare, so either order in advance or don’t expect to have a quick meal here. I.e. if you’re in a group of 2 people, expect to wait 20 mins before everyone has their food, 4 people — 40 mins, etc.(which reminds me, not too many seats are available, this place is pretty small) This place has just recently opened, and it seems they are still ironing out the kinks, but if you have some patience you will definitely be glad you visited!

I came in with high hopes. I was hoping they’d have more of a selection with waffle meals, but instead they had more dessert options. Not a big deal, as they have a «Grilled Cheese Station» that I ordered from instead. I got a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato and waffle fries and my co-worker ordered the same with a slight difference that she ordered hers with bacon as well. Right off the bat you can tell that this was a new business and that they’re still working out all the kinks. There was a bit of fumbling around. And the layout was a bit odd that it didn’t really flow well. But the part that got to me was that they took roughly twenty minutes to cook our food. There was a group there before us, but they were already eating. So we weren’t sure where the holdup came from? Food was decent. I’ve had better waffle fries, which were a little disappointing. But my meal was overall priced high for its value. I wouldn’t go again for their fries or their grilled cheese, but there’s a SLIGHT possibility that I’d try out one of their waffle desserts once the weather warms up.

Wafflaki, you’re such a tease. The delicious aromas of sugary carbs, nutella, and powdered sugar will lure you in. However, the service and average food will leave you lacking. The server up front was a little confused and I wasn’t entirely sure she had a purpose. We got our own food, got our own condiments, and were yelled at for using the wrong cups for syrup. They also ran out of chicken and waffles at around 1 pm… which is prime lunch time so we were a bit disappointed. I ordered a grilled cheese that was festively displayed with a cup of tomato soup which later turned out to be $ 4 extra which no one mentioned. This place has a lot of potential! Just needs to step its game up a notch.

I bought a breakfast of waffles and eggs to go. I opened it up, and it was soggy, and the eggs was in the middle. The box was nice, but poorly executed. I recommend to separate the eggs from your waffles! I think I spend 8⁄9 bucks for this sh*t. I first went in the place with my 3 year old trying to support a new local business. I asked if they had pancakes for my little girl, and the guy who is cleaning up said«oh we only have waffles, if you want pancakes, go next door.» oh wow, great answer! However, nice me — bought something. Anyways, they need to change the menu and execute better items. This kind of specialty business is kind of rough in the neighborhood. If they probably have this business around the colleges like NYU or closer to Pace at affordable prices, it would definitely flourish.

Novel idea, but they don’t like giving your toppings on the side. I asked for eggs on the side(not on the waffle) and they made it sound like they were doing me a favor. This is really only an issue because they put a lot of topping on, so the waffle gets wet and drenched(no longer crispy). It can also get excessively sweet. Also, if you need to use the bathroom you need to go next door. If I didn’t like waffles, this would be a two star joint.

Wafflaki is a brand new joint that opened up only 3 weeks ago. This being my first week in Lower Manhattan, I’m checking out all of the luncheries and am so glad I stumbled in here. It’s adorable inside, with seating for about 10 – 15 people. The people are so nice and they have all kinds of coffee, waffle and grilled cheese options. You can buy different sizes of Nutella, Bailey’s chocolates, and single serving Merlot bottles. And the syrup options, ugh, I hate this place already. I got the early bird special grilled cheese which is fried eggs and American cheese on marbled rye. Dudes, it was incredible — perfectly toasted with butter on the outside and all melty on the inside. Coworker had the classic grilled cheese with tomato and bacon and she loved it — said the tomato tasted like actual tomato. And my other coworker grabbed the last chicken and waffle. She said that those fried drumsticks were the best fried chicken she’s had in the city. We all split a dessert waffle with bananas, strawberries, Nutella and whipped cream. So crisp and airy and light and amazing. We also tried a few of their syrups — my fave was the raspberry but they have chocolate, white chocolate, blueberry, honey, lite syrup, hot maple, and caramel. I kinda don’t want to publish this review because it’ll be so crowded once people find about it but it’s so great. If you come in for lunch, you get to enjoy Jerry Springer playing in the background. Seriously, what more could you want from this place?
