I go here often for take out and delivery. I’ve been here once to dine in with a friend but it’s more convenient for me to just grab and go. It’s a good date spot or even just a night out with a friend though. The atmosphere is everything I’d expect from a nice sushi restaurant. It’s quite large and open. I would say it’s a popular place to go for lunch if you’re in the Columbia University area. I’m a vegetarian so I always order tofu curry and rice. Occasionally I get wild and order avocado sushi. I have no complaints about what I’ve tried. I can’t speak to the meat and fish dishes but I do know they have a lot of them!

To think that this was my favorite sushi spot. So disappointing. The service is terrible Anna Chan’s manager has horrible customer service. I ordered through seamless and the food was delivered spoiled. Instead of The manager trying to make the situation better she encouraged me to eat my spoiled food because she wasn’t going to give me my money back. Thank God I ordered through seamless because they were able to help me get my money back. You just lost a customer Vine. No wonder you were shut down for months. Time to find a new sushi spot.

The Vine is your average sushi place. Nothing bad, yet nothing I would go run and tell all my friends about. Since I use to live in the area, I believe it was one of the only sushi places in the neighborhood. I love sushi, so I didn’t have much of a choice — unless I wanted to travel far for sushi. Their prices are pretty good, especially their Columbia Lunch Box special for about $ 10. It’s pretty good and a good amount of food. It comes with miso soup, salad, white rice, and California Roll. Super standard. I’ve gotten the shrimp noodle soup before and it was gigantic. An incredible portion that could have been probably shared. Their bubble tea is also pretty good. Lots of different options, so you best try at least one of them. Other than that, service is okay, atmosphere is this cliché, and prices are not cheap but not expensive either. It’s the kind of place you would go to if you were stuck in this area and craved sushi. Nough said.

Vine gets the job done, but is far from spectacular. I normally get the«Columbia Lunch Box» special for 10.50(comes out to about 13.50 after tax + tip for dine in). The lunchbox comes with miso soup, salad, six piece California roll, white rice, and a choice of an entrée. Not a bad deal for students on campus since it’s only about $ 1-$ 2 more than the cost of a meal swipe, but it provides much more satisfying meal. Below are some of my preferred entrees: — Ginger chicken/pork — Sesame chicken/beef — Pork/chicken katsu If given the choice to eat a proper Asian meal, I wouldn’t choose Vine. However, it’s close to campus and does well to keep my cravings in check(especially on days when I’m looking to take a break from CU dining halls). tl;dr: Lunch special is great but wouldn’t ever choose Vine for a family dinner.

I have mix feelings about this place. I ordered the chicken curry and it was great! The food is good and honestly is affordable than other places in this area. So the reason I am giving this place 2 stars is the terrible service we recieved. The waitress rolled her eyes at us, very dismissive, and rude. I could of gotten over that, except when we were cashing out. We weren’t finished with the check– we were still calculating tip. The rude ass waitress came over took the check book, which I said don’t because we were not finished with calculations. She then told us we didn’t tip enough and we had to tip more– granted we were, but we were trying to get the cash together. Very rude and not professional. I told her we weren’t done, but she just repeated herself to tip more. I made a compliant, but it was not taken. Very dismissive. I’m not sure I’ll go back for the service, but the food is affordable and good. Also: place does not spilt check — bring cash. It is easier, but they do take card. If you can get pass the eye rolls and rude ass behavior they place is decent.

I hate to deduct stars from restaurants but the fish was just not fresh on my last visit and that’s simply unacceptable, especially at a sushi establishment. I ordered the spicy tuna roll, assuming it would be a safe bet. Their yellowtail and scallion roll has never done wrong my be before so what could happen, right? No, I didn’t get food poisoning. But man was it funky tasting. Really, really funky tasting. The seaweed salad was just as unappetizing — very soupy — as was the garden salad. And the shrimp shumai was way overcooked; It could barely hold itself together. I’ll probably be back just because graduate-school-beggars can’t be choosers on a Monday night at 10pm after class. But please, step it up, Vine.

I was here for takeout and the lady was so rude. There was no response after I greeted her and sucked her teeth when I said I had a question. I showed her a picture of a sushi roll that I was interested in and she said she had no idea what that sushi roll was. How could you work here and not know what the sushi roll looks like? Luckily someone else approached us and helped us. Great rolls, bad service :(
