When I order from China Place, I’m never disappointed. I usually order vegetable type things, with soup, etc. One time they called to tell me there was pork in one of the soups, which I was okay with, and impressed they would call first to see if I was a vegetarian. The older delivery guy is very nice, and the time delivered is well before the estimated time of arrival. The price is good, for what I consider good quality Chinese food. My shoddy star review is because I just found out that this place and Hana Sushi share an address, which really saddens and scares me since I am pretty sure I had food poisoning from the sushi here. NEVER order the sushi or anything that isn’t well cooked. Even if I didn’t get food poisoning from here, it wasn’t that good anyway, the sushi that is, because it was mostly rice, very little anything else in the middle.

Decided to try this place for delivery and it was a huge mistake. Ordered pad Thai that was dry and the noodles would break apart trying to pick it up with my fork. Either overcooked noodles or noodles that were premade and warmed up in a microwave! Definitely do not recommend this place!

I ordered delivery from this restaurant. They changed my tip from $ 6.25 to $ 16.25 — that is theft. Outright theft.

We had dinner here tonight for the first time, and we LOVED it. Will definitely be going back. It was me, my husband, and our two-year-old. We stumbled upon if after we saw that Sushi Sushi was closed. The service was fast. Most of all, everything we ate was delicious. We had BBQ spare ribs, «grilled chicken stick,» and egg drop soup for apps. The egg drop was the best I’ve had in NYC. My husband got the sushi deluxe platter, and I had shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls. Sapporo was $ 1.95(what?!) and wine(not that great) was $ 4ish. We had pineapple and litchi for dessert — both were likely from a can, but they were perfect for me and my little girl. Overall, great experience. Can’t wait to come back.

horrible. tasteless. spring roll is just one super small skinny roll. sushi was a joke and literally slathered in fake seafood and spicy mayonnaise. lo mein was tasteless. ordered vegetable and could taste pieces of meat. uckk. hot and sour soup was only good thing with large pieces of tofu. told delivery guy to not ring doorbell and he still rang doorbell. NEVERAGAIN. go anywhere else. ANYWHEREELSE.”

The thing I like about China place is that they have REALLY speedy delivery. I am always impressed with how fast they get to my apartment. I have three staples that I always get there, and I’m always pleased with: pork lo mein, cold sesame noodles, and pork dumplings. I have never been disappointed by those things. However, whenever I’ve wandered off the path of foods that I know I’m going to like, it’s sometimes hit or miss(mostly miss). I’ve gotten sweet and sour pork, and it was pretty decent, but the meat in their beef and broccoli was REALLY questionable, as was the chicken and broccoli.

We found and roach in our food… to which the man on the phone offered to switch the dish… and JUST the dish. When I explained that that was the most insane response to ever have…:he offered a half refund. We got our money back but JEESUS…

I love this place. The owner, Patrick is a very nice man and runs a great restaurant. The sushi is always fresh, delicious, and great price. The pork fried rice is made with actual pork the meat that comes from their pork ribs. Every dish is delicious. Quick service.

This place is APPALLING. I ordered delivery from here a while back. I got their spicy sushi lunch special, while my friends got General Tso’s and the ribs. The ribs were cold and chewy, and my sushi… I can’t even begin to tell you how ridiculous it was. It was supposed to be one spicy tuna, one spicy salmon, and one spicy crab. What I got was rice wrapped in seaweed with spicy mayo and fingernail tips worth of fish(and that’s me being generous). Some of the pieces looked like just the rice/seaweed/mayo with NOFISHATALL! So, some time has gone by and I was craving pan fried noodles today, and to my disappointment, China Place was the only place that offered them via delivery. I decided to give them another chance… maybe they were slammed that day? Maybe they were running low on fish? Who knows, but every one deserves a second chance, right? WRONG. When I received my order, my steamed dumplings were cold, inside and outside, and my noodles were completely INEDIBLE. They separated the noodles from the toppings, which I had seen done before when getting pan fried noodles delivered, but my toppings were ALSO cold, and the noodles… I got one stale, hard, cold block of cardboard flavored strings. It was repulsive. And what’s even more repulsive? A guy named Patrick who says he’s the manager of this disgusting establishment, ARGUED with me when I called to complain. He kept saying«Well it’s your personal opinion, that’s how they’re cooked». So, basically what he told me was that this place can’t cook? Okay then! Noted! Instead of doing what a manager SHOULD do when talking to an angry guest and offer either a refund or offer to resend the order, he basically insisted that my palate isn’t sophisticated enough to eat his rubbish. UnilocalERS, beware this place. And beware talking to Patrick. He’ll attempt to make you feel like it’s YOUR problem that you don’t like his food, and then you’ll be stuck with it!!! Oh, and one more thing… I signed up on Unilocal just to write this review. It was that bad. If I could give it negative stars, I would, for bad food and bad service. Can’t get any worse.

This has been our goto Chinese delivery place for the last 9 months. We order via GrubHub and they are always well under the estimated delivery time and the guy comes up to the 4th floor in a walk up with no complaints. The food is hit or miss. My BF has ordered the General Tso’s Chicken Combo Plater every time so I guess that means it is good — okay. The first few times we ordered food from here I was disappointed with what I got. The sesame chicken was no good and the steamed dumplings tasted off. Since then I have found I like their egg rolls and Szechuan shrimp dumplings. I have also tried the sweet and sour chicken, Kung Po Chicken, Chicken with Broccoli, Gyoza, Japanese Shu Mai all of which were okay.

We ended up dining here one night because the place we really wanted to go to the next block over hadn’t opened for dinner yet. What was expected to be your standard Chinese fare ended up rather… depressing, actually. After entering into a small dining area that was as melancholy as a room full of people who’d just learned a mutual friend had died(with fitting music… no lie), we were seated by a waiter whose demeanor suggested that he’d apparently received the same news. Never a smile or barely more than two words at a time, he was indeed attentive enough as the meal progressed, but really felt like nothing more than an automated entity programmed to refill our water. I hope I’m painting a magical enough picture to convey exactly how emotionally draining this whole thing was. Good lord, it’s ridiculous. Atmosphere aside, we were still ready to enjoy some great food. We were totally in the mood for sushi, but their alias menu(is that what you call it?) «Hana Sushi» has such poor Unilocal reviews that we decided it wasn’t worth the risk on something raw. Chinese dinner, it was. The egg drop soup was pretty standard. I guess it’s hard to mess that up, and I’m sure they have loads of it already on standby. The entrees were the real disappointment. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was somehow almost completely flavorless, and the vegetables/chicken were floating in what amounted to colored water. My girlfriend’s fried vermicelli with shrimp tried oh so hard to be a Pad Thai, but also had next to no flavor, save for the chopped peanuts on top. The egg roll was… well, «off» is all that comes to mind. None of its ingredients were distinguishable, and something about it was weird. Strangely, the sweet + sour sauce to accompany the roll was ice cold. The meal was every bit as depressing as the restaurant itself. I’m almost never one to leave a meal mostly unfinished. I would usually feel bad for doing so, regardless if I ended up not caring for it. But the only enjoyable things to be had here were the egg drop soup and the white rice left unmixed with my entrée. The waiter took our plates away nonchalantly and wholly unsurprised, as if he regularly expects this outcome. Somewhere in Chinatown, a diligent and skilled chef shed a single tear for the souls he can’t reach out in Harlem.

I don’t know why the reviews are so negative for this place. I have ordered delivery 5 times now and have always been satisfied. They have great hot and sour soup which is a must for me when it comes to chinese. I ordered via GrubHub and they have a huge menu selection ranging from typical chinese to noodle dishes to sushi. All has been very good for a typical chinese place(if you want higher quality, then go to more of a fine dining place) and the delivery guy is a super sweet older chinese man who has been nothing but polite. I have never been to the actual restaurant so I can’t comment on that, but I do recommend them for delivery.

preface: All these reviews make me feel like we’re survivors from bad chinese Stay away. Yes I know it chinese and it accept debit. Both huge factors, but stay the fu** away. From one Unilocal’er(is that what we call ourselves on here?) to another DO.NOT.ORDER.FROM.HERE I ordered at 8:41 P.M. I’m expecting it to be here soon. 9:20: *calls* Woman: «it’s on the way.» 9:30: This was my ONLY reaction =\ ANHOUR. I’m in the 130’s between 7&8 and it takes OVER an hour to deliver food. And what happens? I yell at the woman who took my call and wanted to know why it took over a damn hour for my food to arrive. 10:00 Keep in mind at 10:00PM when I called the woman put me on «hold» and heard her tell another customer that«it’s on the way.» what a crock of B.S. 10:05 *food arrives* Excuse given: my street was closed. UMMMNO. IT’S NOT. And the orange chicken was horrible. *insert table flipping meme here* I’m going to lay my burden’s down to jesus and pray I don’t get food poisoning tomorrow.

The dumplings were your standard pork and veggie dumplings, which were so much better than the sushi we ordered. I ordered the veggie sushi combo and my partner ordered the yellowtail combo. I don’t think either of us finished the sushi, it just wasn’t as good as we have come to expect for local delivery. There are better places for sure.

Ordered via Seamless. Delivery was not quick, but not as bad as other places have been. Food was bland and tasteless. They managed to get my soup order wrong, which was a surprise and disappointing. They included a whole two soy sauces for a large order of food. Thanks a hell of a lot. They forgot to include plastic silverware. Thanks again. Not ordering from them ever again.

The food’s meh. It’s a cookie-cutter Chinese place, what do you expect? So onto why I’m REALLY writing this review. So I live in Harlem. I’m a goofy young white guy, but most of my neighbors are black ’cause it’s Harlem. I live on a rather nice street in a rather attractive building populated by a wide range of age groups, but it’s mostly older folks. So basically, I’m in a part of Harlem pretty indicative of Harlem in general, and very far from the negative(and untrue) stereotypes that plague the area. So, I order GrubHub delivery from this place, since I’ve been testing out different cheap Chinese joints nearby, and the confirmation says it’ll arrive in a half hour. A bit under an hour later I get a call from the delivery guy, saying he was at my building and where was I. I told him I was on the first floor just inside the front door and he said, «Ah, okay, be right there.» I wait five minutes and call him again. First time no answer, second time he picks up. I ask him, «Are you sure you’re in my building? You have the number right?» I confirm details with him. He says he’ll be right there again. Five more minutes pass and I get a call from the restaurant. «My delivery guy is waiting outside your building, why haven’t you gone to meet him?» «Well,» I respond, «He said he was coming in. I’m on the first floor and can see the entrance. I don’t see him at the front door.» And then, says the guy on the phone, «He says there are two black people standing around outside, he’s afraid he’ll get mugged. Go meet him.» So, let’s back up. About thirty minutes before, a boy and a girl from my building, both barely teenagers, were finishing up putting together a box for Goodwill from the building in the lobby outside my door. Nice kids, cool cause. And then they went outside to wait for the Goodwill truck. «DUDE. BLACKPEOPLEARENOTDANGEROUS. SENDYOURGUYIN. SENDHIMINNOW.» The restaurant owner was not happy with me. A minute of my fervent insistence later, he relented and ordered the guy over to my door which, notably, is only 30 feet and ten stairs from the street. The delivery guy acted as if nothing had happened, but I saw him sprint around the corner out the front door when he left. Dear China place. I understand some of your employees may have some negative preconceived notions against people with dark skin. I understand they were likely brought up with these views and have never been asked to challenge them. But I strongly suggest YOU challenge them NOW to re-examine those views, especially since you’re based in such a diverse city where your employees WILL encounter black people. Also should I mention the food gave me indigestion?

Even for a $ 6 lunch special with free drink, this place is bad. My chicken lo mein had barely any chicken in it. It was greasy and unappetizing.

My roommates and I have been struggling to find a good Chinese place in the area. Naturally, as we all tried different joints, we developed separate preferences and turf wars started and so on and so forth, so one day for lunch, we decided to all order from China Place. Since we got our food delivered, I can’t speak to the quality of the actual restaurant experience, but our food came very quickly and they didn’t charge us a delivery fee(delivery is free for orders between 100th-145th Sts). It’s a little more expensive than places in the area(really, a little – about $ 1 – 2 more for a lunch special), but the product is very good. I had a nice, crispy General Tso’s Chicken with some very good fried rice(hard to find in Harlem) and standard wonton soup. Reheats well and they give you noodles and fortune cookies, which you also don’t really find in Harlem(why?!), which is about as much you can ask for.

I wish I could give it two and a half stars, if only because the lunch specials are cheap but involve a huge amount of food… but the food isn’t that great, hence the two star rating. The fried rice is mostly miss… and never actually tastes fried. Today, my fried rice had clumps of untouched white rice spread throughout. Not so tasty. The wonton soup can be kind of tasteless, but the chicken with broccoli is good! The brown sauce totally covers some of the blandness of the rice. Also they give out fortune cookies, which makes me happy as the places near my apartment don’t do that, so lame.

So I took the advice of fellow helper and ordered the lychees. OK. So what is the deal with the prepoked hole in the lid of the lychees? Several places do this. It makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get the lid off the of container w/o shooting liquid all over the place. If i want to suck the liquid out of the container via a small hole(which I don’t), let me poke my own hole. Yes, great deal, but bad execution. Plus, liquid leaks out all over the rest of the food! I also ordered the«I like eel» roll. took a chance on it with no description since it was«for eel lover.» It was pretty mediocre, and I’ve uploaded a picture so no other Unilocaler gets sucked in. It was basically 4 pieces of a fat eel/avocado roll wrapped in cucumber and topped with eel sauce. Not worth $ 8.50, if you ask me. For $ 10, Saji’s has 4 pieces of eel sushi and an eel/cucumber roll(6pc), a much better deal for eel lovers. Also, the fried rice I got the second time around was half-fried white rice. like they just threw some white rice in the wok and didn’t bother to fry it all the way.
