This place is awful the sushi was just rice and nori with a tiny whimsical piece of fish.

I’m pretty sure I got food poisoning from this place before New Years. I ordered the Yellowtail roll and some unagi, and oshinko. The oshinko was fine, you can’t really ruin pickled vegetables I guess, but everything else tasted… off. Sure enough, the day after, I was hugging the porcelain throne. It may have just been sitting under lamps for hours, who knows, but I will never order here again. Your stomach pays the price when you order cheapy sushi, be warned. Delivery was okay. though the estimated delivery time did say over an hour.

Wouldn’t even call this sushi. They rolled up rice and squirted some sort of orange sauce inside the rice. Not one piece of fish. Disgusting! I have worked in the restaurant industry for 11 years and have never written a review because I always want to have an open mind but this place is horrible. How do you screw up sushi? Save your money, I wish I had.

I used to live in the area when I went to school up there. Since then, I moved to Queens and then to New Jersey. Even so, I keep coming back to this place, for one reason: $ 1 sushi. When you think $ 1 sushi, you think questionable fish that’s probably not fresh and might get you sick. All you hope for is that the fish doesn’t kill you or give you salmonella. However, I’ve been to Hana Sushi more than ten times, and never had any problems afterwards. And every time I was there, I ordered sushi. Hana Sushi has really good salmon, decent tuna, and delicious eel. I’m not an expert in sushi, but I can attest that the salmon is amazing. Now, keep in mind, it will not be the best salmon you had, but if you expect gourmet level fish from a Chinese restaurant in Harlem, you are doing it wrong. If this salmon was sold at menu price($ 2.40), even then it would be worth it: it’s decently fresh, decently fatty, and well cut. But the $ 1 price elevates this sushi to the level of amazing. I just never had so much happiness eating sushi, not before not after. It’s $ 1! Eating their tuna does not bring as much joy, but doesn’t make it worse, either. Eel is just eel, well smoked and the sauce is good. Overall, this is the best salmon you can get for $ 1. If you are on a budget, but want nice salmon, this is the place to go. True story.

I ordered two portions of mochi ice cream and they brought me regular ice cream instead. Very disappointed.

I seriously have no idea why there are so many bad reviews. We’ve been ordering online through for over a year from these guys, purely because the sushi is much better than anything else in the area.(Ocean and Ozen, I’m looking at you.) Never, ever had an issue with the delivery guy.(But we always tip at least 15% on a credit card), and we usually order a couple times a month) No, it’s not«gourmet sushi». But it’s decently priced and consistent quality.

hi, sorry, i really hate to complain, especially over a few bucks, but when my online order says $ 12.09 and the guy at the door gives me a receipt for $ 14.90 i feel compelled at least to alert others. the guy was willing to call the restaurant, but i wasn’t up for a debate. in the future i’ll order from Sushi Sushi, another place in the neighborhood that i have never had any problem with and have ordered from many… many times. hope this helps someone out! cheers, k

If I could, I’d give ZEROSTARS!!! Never intended to to write a review, but came across the reviews and I am SO happy to see that I’m not the only one who has had issues with Hana Japanese, moreover, the sheisty delivery man. I ordered from them on March 5. Over the phone, I was told my total was $ 11.75. Deliveryman showed up and called me to the lobby(working lunch). I go down to lobby; no delivery guy in sight. I stand in lobby for a minute, delivery man runs in, saying something about parking. He hands me my food. I ask him how much. He says $ 11.25. I hand him a $ 20(that means i get $ 8.75 change). Driver hands me back a $ 5 bill… mumbles something about parking, turns on his heels and leaves. Still owing me $ 3.75. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I thought maybe he ran out to check on his car, and would be back with the rest of my money. I waited 2 minutes for him to return; he didn’t. I went back upstairs to my office, called the restaurant and spoke with some lady(owner?) named Anna. This heaux said(and I quote) «YOUHAVTOTIPDADRIVAH!!!». I informed her that I planned to tip him, but that he is NOT to decide his own tip, and then TAKEIT, by way of what he gives me in change. NOTTOMENTIONTHEYALREADYCHARGED A $ 1.00DELIVERYCHARGE!!! Needless to say, Anna and I went back and forth for a few. Demanded a «credit» on my next order, and told her that if this bulljive happens again, I will CALLTHECOPS on her driver for THEFT. Oh yeah… and the food was WACKCITY!!!

I had been ordering from these guys pretty frequently through and have overall been pleased with my food and the delivery. This restaurant would have received a 4 from me before tonight. Tonight, however, I ordered my usual favorites, and the food came quickly. The rolls were gooey and falling apart, and there was an intense fishy smell to the two salmon rolls. When I tried a second time to swallow the spicy salmon roll, I gagged and spit it out. I was shocked; needless to say, I called the restaurant to speak to a manager about my experience. I hoped to hear an «I am sorry, what can we do to make it up to you(a loyal customer)?» Instead, I could barely understand the man on the other end of the line as he spoke harshly about having been in charge of the kitchen and the chefs not changing the way that they prepare the food, and then he spoke about not being able to do anything about my order, that he could replace it but would have to charge me again for the food… among other things. I tried to explain myself multiple times, only to be cut off. After 3 or 4 minutes, I ended the conversation. The manager called me back in 10 and said he could offer me a salad… and then he repeated everything about how nothing was wrong with their food, that it had all been prepared the same way every day, etc. I excused myself from the conversation a little more abruptly this time, and I informed the manager that he had lost a loyal customer. I am still in shock. And I am still hungry. Boo.

Having recently moved to West Harlem, I am completely unfamiliar with the delivery options in the area. Grubhub tells me that this is the only sushi restaurant that will deliver to my apartment(around 141st& St. Nick’s), so I’ve ordered from here a couple times. If anyone else can tip me off on somewhere better, I’d be forever grateful. It’s not that the food is terrible. It’s just not really that good. The salmon, spicy tuna, salmon avocado, spider and pink lady rolls all are just… meh. I’ve had better. I will say that I have not experienced the service problems that other Unilocalers are bringing up. I always tip more than a dollar, because I’m not a douchebag, and I almost always tip on my credit card in advance. Haven’t had a single problem with timing or service. Maybe I’ve just been luckier than Lia S. and Pia V.

Long story short: they got my order wrong and overcharged me twice on one bill! And the food was awful on top of that. Ordered a spicy crunchy tuna roll and pork gyoza through . They came relatively quickly but the gyoza was atrocious and the roll was really sub par compared to the other sushi places in the neighborhood. The worst part however was that they added a delivery charge saying that I wasn’t in their delivery area which was absolutely not true. I checked that before ordering and they added the charge anyway. Secondly, they delivered a spicy tuna roll with no crunchy but still charged me for the crunchy. Avoid this place. Crappy food and shady business practices.

Took then FOREVER and a day to deliver my food. Which ended up being so disgusting that I couldn’t even get myself to eat it. Ack! Needless to say that I’ll never be ordering anything from here again. Don’t even waste your money or time to even look at the menu. SMH.

It was 9pm, super windy, and I was starving, so I decided(against my better judgment) to try delivery sushi. I ordered online and tipped on my credit card before the food arrived. Turns out, this was a big mistake. An extremely cranky delivery man in a car(yes, NY, a CAR), calls me saying he can’t find parking so I need to come out to get my food. I tried to explain to him that I paid for DELIVERY and would he please bring it to my apartment. Well, apparently since I’d already tipped him, he thought he’d just wait in his car for me to put on presentable clothes and go outside to meet him at his car. As far as I’m concerned, this is totally unacceptable in NYC. It’s fine in DC, where delivery people never come to your apartment, but in NYC??? I mean, we all know he wouldn’t have done this had I not already tipped him. Sushi ended up tasting fine, but I’ll never order from here again.
