I love V & T and my husband and I get delivery or eat at the restaurant at least once a month. Their pizza is the best in the neighborhood and beyond! I’m shocked to see that they only have three stars on Unilocal,so hopefully I can bring up their average. The pizza dough is perfectly soft and doughy and the sauce recipe is amazingly savory and tangy and they don’t skimp on the sauce which I appreciate. The cheese is ample and bubbly; you can tell it is high-quality. They load on the toppings. I’m about to go there right now and have a spinach, artichoke, and mushroom pizza and I’m salivating just thinking about it! If you want hearty sit-down pizza in Harlem/Morningside this is the best place!

I’ve been coming to this place since I was a kid and they’re the best. Great old school NYC Italian food and vibe. The meatball park sub is a fav.

You know what? I’m a fan. Don’t ask me about their pizza because I haven’t tried it. This is an old school, casual, «red sauce» Italian restaurant that is actually good. That said, don’t expect any Batali-ized bullshit. Expect big portions, extra cheese, and brusque but amiable NY service. If you want to eat squab pan-roasted with Argentinian sweetbreads, fiddleheads and sunchokes, head elsewhere. Service has been fine when I’ve gone and the owner – an older Sicilian gentleman who is usually by the bar – is happy to schmooze and ask questions when called upon. The chicken parm here is great. The slightly sweet tomato gravy complements it well, the chicken is nice and tender, and there is ample – but not an excessive amount – of cheese included. The eggplant rollatini is also very good, but don’t order it as an appetizer unless you have more than 2 people because it’s an entrée in and of itself. They tend to overcook pasta as others have noted, so just be sure to ask for your pasta al dente if you want it firmer. I’ve wanted to try the francese here for awhile which I’ve seen others order. The meatballs also seem to be on point. I’m being a bit generous with the star rating here as I think this is definitely better the 3 star average I see now. Stick to the basics and you’ll enjoy your meal.

Great pie, classic neighborhood pizzeria, comfortable, clean with pleasant efficient service. Hope they last another 60 years. Great for families. Save room for dessert at the Hungarian pastry shop next door. Another uptown institution with the best seven layer cake in the city. Far too few of these old time family owned places left. They need to be supported, not just as local institutions, but because they consistently serve quality food at reasonable prices.

I was really excited about V&T the first time I came here, but their quality definitely declines the more you try it. First of all, this place is much better for eating in than take-out. I’ve gotten their takeout pizza five or six times, and every single time, the 9-block walk home is enough for the entire crust to get soggy and limp. Of course I don’t expect fresh out of the oven status after 10 minutes of walking around, but some sort of structural integrity to this pizza would be nice. The taste is fine, but nothing special. I would definitely go somewhere else if this neighborhood had more pizza options, but it’s sadly lacking. Where I think V&T makes up for their unexciting pizza is in their other Italian dishes. I’ve had their entrees here a couple of times and it’s always a delightful experience. Baked ziti is cheesy and meat-y and delicious. Chicken parm is the perfect balance of breading and sauce and mozzarella. The cheesy garlic bread is wonderful. Definitely a nice casual Italian dinner, with a friendly wait staff and pleasant(if a bit kitschy) ambiance. Unfortunately, I’ve been here more for pizza than for dinner, and my rating reflects that.

Very old school and good, but not great pizza. Tasty sauce but crust was too soft for my husband. Caesar salad was much better than average with lots of shaved parmesan on top of the crisp romaine and only a little bit of bottled dressing. One of my litmus tests for a restaurant is how they deal with my request for a lemon for my water. Often an inexpensive establishment will give you a slice that’s an eighth of an inch thick. V&Ts generously supplied 3 large pieces of lemon. I will be back.

I’ve been placing Delievery orders with V&t for the past 3months with No problem Until this evening. I called and Spoke with a lady name Lisa who was very nasty. She stated they do not deliver to 5th Ave… I asked since when I just placed an order 2 weeks ago if they check there system they will see.

Family-owned restaurant with excellent prices, food, and portions. The family and wait staff are very friendly and very attentive. Hard to beat for ambience and décor, with authentic food as well.

Old fashioned Italian restaurant /pizza shop — no slices. Has 2 large rooms and on weekends and nights can get very crowded. It has been around since the 1940’s and has been a neighborhood favorite for generations. The food is good, but what you come here for is the pizza. When it is good — it is very good. Sometimes the consistency is not there. The pizza is heavy — the type of slice that can fill you up quickly, with lots of mozzarella and tasty crust. If they overcook it it is not so good. So that is why I say the consistency is not always there. 5 *‘s anyway. May they remain in business forever.

Food was so so. But waiters are really impolite. Unfriendly to customers. Once we were waiting for 10 min for our check and I walk to the front table saw our check and credit card lying on it. I asked why didn’t they bring it to us it’s been 10 min. The waiter just shrug as if he doesn’t give a shit.

Not that good. But the meal was huge, even for a guy. I just tried the pasta, it was okay. I don’t know other dishes, but the service is good.

Their pizza wasn’t bad. It looked quite good when they brought it out, piping hot. It was definitely soggy in the middle but I feel like a lot of NYC pizza is like that. The crust was quite delicious. My partner had a pasta dish which he said wasn’t bad. He says he would give it 3.5 stars. We shared a small antipasto salad which was generous and filling. I thought the menu had a pricing discrepancy on this item when we got the check bc it seemed to be $ 2 more than what I had mentally noted. I’m renown for having a photographic memory when it comes to numbers(usually pertaining to spending – $ or calories). Maybe I had an old menu. We lastly shared an exotic bomb which was like a tartufo but with passion fruit, mango and raspberry gelato, covered in a white chocolate she’ll. It was pretty tasty. This isn’t a bad place to try if you’re in morningside heights. Frankly there are more choices around with probably better and cheaper eats. But I don’t regret going. I think my future in-laws would like this place. Reminds me of another hole in the wall Italian restaurant they love. And the bread basket here is much better!

I have been a fan of V&T for about a year now. I’ve had this restaurant for many training sessions for my job and have ventured into the restaurant for a date once or twice. I am literally in love with their Goat Cheese and Arugula Pizza so much that I’d marry it if I could. I’m am avid consumer of their chicken parm(of which I actually had today) because it is so delicious and never fails to satisfy– definitely better than my last relationship! Who needs love when you’ve got V&T? The restaurant is really nice on the inside– typical nice Italian restaurant! The waiter service was good– probably could’ve been a little quicker but it was definitely busy when I came in and there were only a limited number of workers at the time. The delivery service is really good– the food is always delivered hot and if you need plates/utensils with your order, they can help you out with that if you ask for them. I’m obviously a fan because I keep coming back for more!

I actually started writing this review on my phone while we were actually sitting at V &T waiting(and waiting… and waiting… and waiting) for our food, but then decided I needed to give it some extra thought to really convey how bad this place actually is. SERVICE: The service here is pretty abysmal… it took the waiter a really long time to even take as much as a drink order from us. We thought, «Hey, it’s pizza… and who doesn’t pizza for dinner?» and tried to give them the benefit of the doubt by checking the crowd level inside, but with only a handful of patrons inside and a few occupied tables outside, we couldn’t find any reason why we weren’t being waited on. The food took SO long(close to an hour…45 minutes if I’m feeling generous)…and the waiter was so scarce that the next time we could flag him down, we asked for the check and a to go box(a very polite request that our waiter walked away from while I was in mid-sentence…) before our food arrived… I mean, who knows when we would see him again, amirite? Side note, I had my dog tied up on the other side of the barrier right behind me… when a different waiter went to fill the water glasses(lucky bastards…) of the table next to us, he bumped the barrier and scared my dog a little bit. I mean, she’s not a delicate flower so she was hardly scarred for life, but she did jump up and the typical human being would take one look at her precious moments eyes portraying the betrayal of being startled out of a peaceful lounge session and say… anything…instead, he peeked over at her, then walked away. I mean, I get it, you’re either a dog person or not, but clearly the dog is important to SOMEONE(Me. The customer.) and as a person who should be taking care of the people in the restaurant, maybe a little bit of… remorse? FOOD: The food was nothing to write home about… nothing to write ANYTHING about, actually, unless it’s to write a recommendation to go elsewhere. We ordered a small, 10 inch, plain cheese pizza as our appetizer and it was crisp around the edges, but super soggy in the middle. I can’t imagine putting ANY other topping on it, lest the pizza just disintegrate in front of you. My cousin got the lasagna primavera, which was just a mess… and also didn’t taste good. Bland, gooey(not in the good way), weird tasting mess. I stepped a little out of the box with the shrimp francaise(you’re an idiot, self…) and when it came out, there was a slight film over the sauce. Ew. I opted for a salad with my shrimp, rather than the standard spaghetti with red sauce and even the salad was poorly executed. There was garlic powder just EVERYWHERE and the whole thing was heavily, heavily dressed with red wine vinegar. Save yourself the aggravation and possible upset belly and find another pizza place.

our watier was very very rude, aggressive and impatient! as he approached our table he did not smile or greet us he just asked if we are ready. We were not. But ordered drinks… when he finaly said we are ready he then snatched our menu and mumbled something. We ordered wine and he just placed it on our table then walked away. this man obviously does not like his job or wanted to be bothered… I never in my life experienced such horrible service in my life. it was my boyfriend’s birthday and he picked this place… I wanted to see what they do for birthdays, so i went inside since we were sitting outside, we decided to eat on the patio, becuase the inside was way too noisy. Anyway, I saw my waiter, and try to ask him what do they do for birthdays, since it was my boyfriends birthday that day… Well, he just walked away and ignored, so I walked toward him and he ignored me that makes it twice! another waiter had to grabe his attention just for me to ask him… I noticed people sitting next to us had bread and oil… So after tracking down another waiter, I asked for the bread that is supposed to come standard while u wait… The table next to us got oil with their bread, and We just got butter. Our waiter brought our bread, Which again he placed on our table and speeded away before I could ask him for oil… Sighs… We also had to wait a very long time for the bill, my boyfriend joked… I guess it is free. He finally came with the bill, my boyfriend reached for it but i beat him to it. After all it was his birthday… The man took equally long with returning my credit card… With alll the nasty and rude attitude, I still tipped him… I really wish I did not… I strongly believe tips should reflect services… Lastly the pizza was soggy and tasteless…

GENEROUSSIDEORDEROFAGGRAVATION horrible service from men who don’t care at all 1. the woman who handles the money at the cash register is the worst snob 2. the nervous waiter spilled steak piazzaol’ oil on my new hat and disappeared 3. the owner, the matre’d never apologize, the matre’d said the oil is water. no one here cares at all about the people eating 4. the older waiter must be an undercover cop. he does not give a shit at all. I flagged him down to ask for a steak knife to which he replied«You already have one.» «For my mother!» I yelled! who was sitting across from me on oxygen. He never returned a comment or a knife. Or a care. These are bottom of the barrel Men. 5. once a plastic outdoor chair broke beneath me here and the snob lady said it was my fault for moving in the chair the owner who sits shuffling receipts and counting counting will give a reduction on the bill to a complaining customer… but no care… no concern… just AGGRAVATIONONTHESIDE

It was my first time having V&T after living in the neighborhood for so long. I’ve heard great things about this place and decided to have lunch. Service was terrible, it took them 30 – 45 mins to finally seat a group of 6 when they had plenty of available seating. Originally we all preferred the outdoor seating because it was super stuffy inside. Our waiter was a bit rude, he walked away from us twice when we tried to order. The food was decent, there are plenty of other Italian/Pizza restaurants in the neighborhood that have better service and better food.

My nephew wanted to start his birthday date here so we did … it’s across the street from his school. It’s a sit down place which I was not expecting. The pizza was decent, very cheesy and you cannot order by the slice. Smallest option is their $ 7 mini pie on their lunch menu. Got that for my nephew and got the eggplant rolantini for myself. The portion was large(considering it was under appetizers) and it was tasty. Again pretty cheesy. Nothing spectacular, your average Italian spot from wheat we got and what I saw going to other tables.

If you are really hungry, and looking to eat for not too expensive, and big meal, this is the place for you. We got a spagetti with meatballs which is really big, and Angel hair spagetti. They were both very good. Its also open till late.
