After all these rave reviews sorely disappointed. Got the basil chicken, green curry and pad see ew and they were all really lacking. The flavored were drastically muted and despite requesting spicy, not spicy at all. I’ll stick to Jaiya Thai & Peppercorn in the neighborhood.

I was so excited to try this place! When I see a place has nearly 5 stars on Unilocal I know it has to be amazing! Unfortunately not the case. My fiancé and I just got back from Thailand a few weeks ago. We’ve been having Thai food withdrawals so thought this place would be perfect! The food in Thailand was incredibly flavorful everywhere we went! Sadly, Up Thai did not meet our expectations at all. The wait time was about 30 minutes on a Friday night. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai($ 14) and he had the Duck dish($ 18) from the seasonal summer menu. The Pad Thai was sooooo bland in presentation and flavor. Where are the chili flakes? peanuts? bean sprouts? chives? It was just a big plate of boring. Don’t get me wrong, it did contain some of the ingredients I mentioned but they were barely noticeable. Even the shrimp was unseasoned and lacking any type of flavor. My fiancé was unimpressed with his meal as well. Definitely not worth the money. The only plus side is that the place is nicely decorated and ambiance was pretty lively. Service was decent as well. Maybe some of the other dishes are better but our experience was below average and we will most likely not return.

I have eaten here a few times and every time the food is perfect. Today I got a meal to go and everything was again perfect except the side salad. Brown lettuce all through it, had to toss. Called to talk to manager and no manager on duty. No one there to manage which is maybe why I have BROWN lettuce for lunch. Today they get three stars for brown lettuce and no manager available. I’ll go back again and hope for a five star review which I know they have been worthy of in the past. Joe, responding to your comment… thank you for your comment. I wish I would have talked to you when I called. It’s been a while, I do not recall when it was. I have been back several times since and have enjoyed it each time. I’ve updated to four stars and continuing to recommend Up Thai to my friends. I look forward to my order tonight!

AHHH. SOGOOD. I’ve only done pick up, but the pad se ew was so flavorful that I still want more. It took about 40 minutes, but I wasn’t even mad because it was still done before GOT started. Can’t wait to try out their lunch special and experience their cute décor in person.

So my app sent me a notice that Up Thai keeps taking more and more of my money. Yesterday I bought groceries and made my own lunch to save a few bucks. I just housed another lunch special a few seconds ago. It’d feel like a failure, but I’m so happy. Highlights: — flavor is excellent. I’m very picky with my thai food. with so many thai restos, it’s easy to order crap food. this is the only great place in the area. — lunch specials! entrée, app, and a salad! Negatives: — they keep taking my money

This place is so wonderful. Great food, Good service & very helpful manager«Khun Ae». I’m Thai and I take my New Yorker friend who love Thai food to Up Thai with me. He enjoy his Pad Thai Shrimp so much and now UPTHAI is becoming his number 1 Thai restaurant in Upper East Side. I will definitely comeback to this place again. Love it!

Up Thai is a good Thai restaurant. The venue is modern. Service is great. The food is pretty decent with a few unique dishes here and there. Prices are higher than at your standard Thai restaurants.

Great Thai food restaurant! I came here when my best friend for dinner I got the Chicken Pad Thai & She got the Chicken Fried Rice. Both were amazing! There is also a bar, which is pretty good for happy hour! The employees were super nice and sweet, everyone welcome you as you enter. 5 stars for the service.

Honestly, this place is a gem. I’m a big fan of Thai basil dishes and recently tried the eggplant basil with beef. I’m a person who eats with my eyes and this dish was plated very well. It smelled spicy and delicious — and my first bite was such a burst of Thai flavors. One thing I will say is though they have a great selection of alcohol, the Sangria is a too sweet for my taste buds and so are many of the other cocktails on the menu. I prefer to just order water or green tea. Definitely a place I’ll continue to go to for weekend lunch or dinner when I’m in the UES.

This is a pretty solid Thai place on the Upper East Side. I ordered the pad see ew for lunch and thought it was a good-sized portion. The noodles were cooked well, and the sauce was not too sweet and not too salty. It didn’t blow me away or anything, so I am giving this place 3 stars. It’s not bad, but not amazing. My friend got the pad thai, and I had a bite and thought it was also okay. This place wasn’t super memorable, so I think that’s why I’m giving it a so-so review. Nice ambiance, clean restaurant, but I bet the wait can get pretty bad since it is pretty small.

Generally when I’m thinking what I want for dinner, Thai food rarely makes it on the list. But, this place will change that! Came here after 9 on a Friday night, and it was packed! I was shocked I had to wait 20 minutes for a table for 2. Once inside, the décor is enchanting. The lamps, lights, and all make a beautiful setting for an amazing dinner. I split the Pad Krapraw and the Kao Soy. Both had such rich and complex flavors. The Kao Soy was the star, and is one of the tastiest curry noodle soups I have ever had! The portions were huge and resulted in so much to take home. Highly recommend coming here! They also do take out if the long wait for a table is a turn off.

The place is absolutely stunning. Whoever designed it, thought out every detail. More beautiful as you walk in. Service is fast pace. The food was delicious. The chicken satay is a must and so is the eggplant basil — I had mine with tofu. Issue: there was a long blonde hair in my friend’s salad, but they fixed that right away, but then forgot the avocado, and fixed it again. It just seemed like a comedy of errors more than any lack of care in the food. Every walk of life was in here. Full of life and good food.

Beautiful and breathtaking décor! The colorful lanterns adds such an intimate and romantic ambience to our experience. I would not have guessed that Up Thai specializes in street food. I took two of my girlfriends for their birthday here. Killing two birds in one stone! My girls and I walked-in for a weekday early dinner with no reservations. I would suggest walking in during early dinner hours or make reservations. We started with drinks: Mango Mojito, Phraya’s Passion, and Yuzu Lemonade. All drinks were on point — sweet, crisp, and refreshing! Our appetizers include: Chive Dumplings, Summer Rolls, and the Pork Skewers. I really enjoyed our appetizer choices. Their rice flour wraps for both the dumplings and summer roll was soft and sticky like mochi. It was so good! Chive Dumplings are best eaten while it is still pipping hot. Summer Rolls were filled with shrimp, rice vermicelli, mint, carrot, and green leafy vegetables. Pork Skewers were perfectly spiced and charred. It was tender and chewy. I am into this street food! Just the perfect place for a girls night or to impress a date!

Standard traditional dishes you find at a Thai restaurant. Friendly service and just about everything was delicious. This place looks small from the outside, but it’s actually a long building. Nice décor. Clean restrooms. We ordered and shared the following: — Up Thai Fried Rice Claypot: excellent dish, perfect flavor. Highly recommend it, although this dish can do away with the sweet sausage. Pad Se-Ew: this is a must-order whenever we dine at any Thai restaurant. It’s pretty solid here since I can tell the rice noodles were fresh. Duck Tamarind: Love this dish. Most expensive item on our bill, it was worth every penny. The taste was phenomenal. Chicken Curry: this is pretty standard, although first time seeing peanuts in a curry dish. Every dish were savory, on(over) salty side. That explains why the meal was so filling as we kept soaking it with the rice. Would definitely come back again.

When my husband offered to plan a fun day uptown, I definitely didn’t expect to start with a lunch at a Thai place. I dunno, it’s just not the first cuisine I imagine in the area. The place is deceptively generic from the outside but when you go inside it’s a whole different world. It looks like an enchanted forest with lots of plants, moody lighting, and gorgeous lanterns hanging from the ceiling. I’ve never seen such a stylishly outfitted Thai place, and I was very impressed! The food was equally impressive. After a quick browse on Unilocal I decided to go with the clay pot fried rice. It came filled to the brim with high quality ingredients like shrimp, scallops, chicken, and shiitake mushrooms. It was so satisfying and tasty! I also tried a lychee Thai iced tea, which I’d never had before and loved. I like that there’s no condensed milk or cream in there, but still has that lovely Thai tea flavor. Service was also stellar, and it was just a super nice vibe in there. So many places can be obnoxious on weekends during brunch and it was nice to be in a space that was bustling and busy but still peaceful. I just wish I lived closer to this wonderful gem, but I know this will be my go-to every time I’m in the hood.

Sexy place on the UES. I ate at the bar and got very good service. Clay pot rice dish was delicious. Crab appetizer was just okay. Lychee Thai ice tea was pretty good — maybe a bit too sweet. Expensive — maybe a bit too expensive for the product. You are paying for the location and the ambiance.

Ambience: THEBEST! You can tell a lot of time was put into the décor. It’s got a cute little foreign feel with the free hanging lanterns and wall with fake ivy on it. It was sooooo beautiful. I went with a friend but it had a super date-y feel. The bar area was fun and the bartenders were super attentive from what I saw. Staff: very sweet. My friend and I split a soup and one dish and the waitress was very nice about answering our questions related to the menu and about portion sizes. They also all worked together really well to make sure our drinks were always full and ask us if we were doing okay. Perfect! Food: we got the tofu/vegetable green curry which was YUMYUMYUM. I couldn’t get enough of it. It was lacking in some spice at first but I asked for the sauces on the side and it was perfect. The veggie soup was also great. This place does not skimp on the veggies in your dish like some other places might. Price: for one appetizer and one main dish we only paid like $ 15 per person which isn’t bad at all given presentation, service, food, and everything in between. Will I be back? YESSSSSSSSS. Is that even a question at this point?!

Food here are fantastic! I had been disappointed by Thai restaurants in NYC but this place is great! The décor, as others said, was beautiful. Service was good. Drinks: I ordered thai iced tea and lychee iced tea for my parents because I personally just do not like thai tea. They liked the drinks, fresh and tasty. Entrée: We shared claypot, pad see ew and curry with rice. Claypot was amazing! It has scallop, shrimp, chicken, onions, scallions and other stuff over fried rice. Very flavorful with the soy sauce. Strongly recommend! Pad see ew with chicken was also great! Rice noodles was fresh and chewy. Chicken was tender. Curry was good but not very special. Drop one star because every dish was oversalted. Also we were rushed when my dad had not finished with his drink. That server ruined the great dinner.

I would describe my experience here as good but not amazing. The food in general is pretty standard, though the prices are definitely on the cheaper side. The portions are maybe a bit smaller than those at other Thai places. Service was polite, although they forgot to give us chicken for one of the dishes, and also wouldn’t let my friend sit down when I was only 2 minutes away despite the fact that the restaurant was full… in any case, food. I got the lunch special. My friend got the mango-avocado salad. Lunch special($ 9): 1. Tofu soup(choice between this and the salad): Pretty basic with cabbage and a piece of tofu. The broth is nice and light. 2. Dumplings: You get 2, but these are really shumai. Pretty good! 3. Pad see ew: I always love this dish, and it was done very well. I wish the portions were larger. Mango-avocado salad: Moderate portions, but very fresh and delicious. The mangoes were sweet and soft. The lunch special is really an amazing deal, and overall the prices are not bad for this place.

You guys rock !

So don’t change anything Up Thaï you rock!
