After reading about their $ 25 bottomless basement brunch, my fiancé and I thought we’d give this place a try. Not too many places to sit, luckily we found two seats at the bar. Overall, the service we received from was fairly pleasant. Here are my two concerns. 1) A roach literally crawled in front of me while I was sitting at the bar. I screamed, and squashed it with a napkin. I quietly called the waitress over to let her know what happened and she immediately went in the back and said she would speak with a manager. Needless to say, the manager never appeared, and all we received was another casual ‘I’m really sorry about that’ from the waitress. One would assume the manager would come to briefly apologize, or discuss the icky situation. 2) Yes, the brunch is bottomless — but if you have to wait 25 minutes in between each order. the bottomless deal doesn’t really pan out. The only thing that made up for it was that beer, and mimosas were included! Overall — decent atmosphere, and crowd. I will probably go back at some point. Let’s just hope they hire a better exterminator!

Ive been coming here for many years now. Last night my husband and i gathered our friends to go there, we had many drinks and had some food. Between everyone our bill was over $ 200 for just happy hour. We were sitting at a booth table for the whole night. The waitress was EXTREMELY rude once happy hour was over and she said we had to leave the table because«im not making any money off of this table» is she kidding me? She literally said that. Our group spent so much money and was continuing to order even after the bill came. How do you treat customers like that ?? She left a very bad taste in all of our mouthss !! Dont know if ill be ever going back again

Tuesday night drink specials are the bomb. Look for Arianna. She is a young lady that has seemed to have mastered her craft. Great bartenders and music at this place make it a great experience.

It pains me to rate this. I just swung by for a quick to go order-2 double orders. I get to work and order is soggy, wings have hair on them and one order ¾ are wings(in lieu of drumsticks). So disappointed. They look so bad I don’t even want to give them to anyone. $ 41.35 down the drain.

Went to Down The Hatch with a group of friends on a Saturday night last time I was in the city. This place is perfect if you’re either still in college or not too far removed. It situated in a basement and is a pretty big space. The bar is really long and there’s beer pong and other drinking games in the back room. It was a little crowded, but if you’ve already had a decent bit to drink you should be fine. Drinks were reasonable for the area. When I was there I noticed a sign for their bottomless brunch that looks great so I’ll definitely be back to try that.

Tiny bar with great prices. I’ve been to their other sister locations around the city and each have a slightly different vibe than the prior. My co-worker dragged me here on a Wednesday to enjoy their $ 1 pint beer on tap special and I figured to try their budget friendly wings(ended up enjoying it for the price of $ 9 or so). If you’re going with a group of friends make sure to come early. There are a lack of tables so might be annoying to find an appropriate spot to «chill». On a better note they have beer pong like their other locations which may bring nostalgia of some good olé times in college. May be back one day but not on my go to list.

LOVE this bar. They had all the sports games on and they have tables for beer pong. The waitress we had was amazing. She even took a shoot with us. The food was also so good! Had the chicken fingers and waffle fries– so yummy and perfect food to drink with. I would definitely recommend this spot for a fun night out with friends.

The people working at this establishment are the worst. You can go to a bunch of other bars nearby and receive A LOT better service and the same drink specials. There’s a bathroom bouncer, yes that sounds strange but it’s true. He lets his friends skip everyone in line. When I said something to the matter that it wasn’t fair that he let his friends go before another docile quiet man in line, he gave me attitude and wouldn’t let me use the restroom. He made me wait for over 20 minutes while letting everyone else go before me. Being that I’m a professional, I didn’t cause a scene or get an attitude but my friends and I will definitely take our business elsewhere. I visited the establishment 8÷19÷15 in the evening. I never write bad reviews on here but the poor temperament this man exhibited and using his bathroom policing power to try and put me in my place was nonsensical. There was no manager to speak to regarding this and the guy told me no one in management would care, only he said it using distasteful language. So thought I would share it on here.

I almost don’t have any complaints except that it’s not wheelchair accessible. Of course I understand why but it stinks that some friends cant go to such an amazing bar. Other than what’s stated above, I ABSOLUTELY love this bar. I hope they never close. I haven’t tried many of their sister bars, but so far this is the best one. I always have a great time @ DTH. I’ve had many events there, and there was even a time I went every Tuesday. It’s a great place to bring friends and meet new friends. They even have beer pong. The food hits the spot. Their prices are good but their happy hour deals are quite impressive. I wish I was there now lol

Great Deals This is a loud bar, more for a younger crowd, but I liked it. The place is in a weird location, down a narrow set of stairs, in a basement of an old building, but it works. You can miss it, if don’t give it second look as you walk by. They offer great beer deals most days, 3 bucks a bottle. The place has a nice lively atmosphere, if your looking for calm and quiet, it might not be for you. However; I was looking for a place to really get me going and this joint did the trick. Tip: Saturday’s they do all you can drink deals for 19 bucks a person. Thanks

This place is awesome! The experience in general is awesome! It is a favorite for my work crew. We live on both sides of the river and you are close to a PATH train and subways. The prices are amazing and happy hour specials can not be beat in this city. There is always enough room for group, beer pong, and plenty of TVs to watch the game!

Looking for a great dive bar with good liquor deals and some food to soak it all up? Well Down the Hatch is for you and it was for me this past Friday. They had $ 3 margaritas until 8pm the day I was there. Although I tasted more sour mix than anything what can you expect from a $ 3 dollar drink. Had a chili cheesy dog while I was there and it delicious!!! It is hard to get to the bar during happy hour so my suggestion is bring cash and order 2 drinks at a time. P. S. I heard the wings are great. It’s on my list for next time.

Great vibe, cheap drinks! They have bar stool table seating and booth seating as well. Also they have a huge flat screen to watch games on. Seats are limited and might be hard to come by.

This sports bar kind of feels divy but is really clean and is done really well. There are always sports games on and if you come here for football Sunday’s it gets rowdy!!! Also the happy hour here is incredible getting Jamison on the rocks for $ 3.75 you can’t go wrong.

Brotastic dive bar shenanigans. Another stop during our random bar crawl through West Village. We have a couple of hours left to kill before heading back to work. The handy Unilocal search on the phone says this is within walking distance of the last bar we hit up, so here goes. We weren’t specifically searching for DTH, but managed to stumble upon this spot. A few steps down from the street and we enter this little sports dive. It’s like the college party moved from the frat house and into the basement. Rowdy is putting it mildly, and in a fun(insert national TV ad beer name) kinda way. It’s Saturday night, and Down The Hatch’s bar is packed. Not fire marshal level jammed nuts-to-butts, but the bar area sure seemed like it. Maybe 4 – 5 people deep, but I don’t think they’re all wanting drinks. It’s just that there’s not much room or open seating. We got some cheap beers, but no eats. We were on a mission to crawl this part of the city, not settle in any particular spot, although watching the drunken sh! t show develop is worth hanging around. Kinda bummed I didn’t have an appetite because the bar bites looked good and the Unilocal approval rating on the snacks are trending positive. If you’re looking for intimate, fancy, or hipster, then this won’t be your cup of organic loose leaf tea. If you’re good to bro down, then grab some cold beverages, maybe some kitchen snacks to soak up the alcohol, and party on!

My favorite bar in the city. Always a lot going on here. The Christmas lights really do it for me. Me and my buddy got glasses of Jameson for $ 3.75 ! That’s a fantastic price for the city.

It’s a small classic looked bar with seating so you might think it’s just a regular old bar You can go to, but the food(the wings) are definitely worth the trip back. It’s mainly a bar so you must be over 21 to even enter. I got seated with my friend and the waitress was inconsistent and it took us almost 10 minutes to even place an order which was Inconvenient and ran up our patience. Nevertheless the fast time it took for the food to arrive made up for it and ultimately was worth it. I ordered a double order of wings(hot) and a large order of waffle fries to split up with my friend. That’s all we needed because not only was the food amazing, but extremely filling. The wings comes in different flavors and level of spices(including mild, hot, abusive, suicidal, and bite me) and I decided to go with hot because the others sound painfully hot. But the hot, was very hot and wasn’t expected for that to happen. The kick hits you and your lips feel the impact immediately, which is so worth it, but just wasn’t expecting it. The waffle fries are large and you can practically get full fro them, all crisp and tasty. This small little tavern(I guess is a more appropriate term) is definitely worth the time and is a great place for a quick bite(despite the slow waitress my stay was less than than 45 minutes). The wings and excellent, flavorful and has a kick to it that’s worth it. The fries are huge and will definitely be worth the order. I hope to come back soon to experience the many offers they have with drinks and unlimited wings over the weekend.

3.5 stars I came here twice a while ago and enjoyed my first time here. The second time not so much because I came and it was overcrowded with absolutely no seats and barely anywhere to stand. Which was really disappointing because my friends and I wanted to come to a cool place with cheap drinks and good atmosphere. Down the Hatch has both of those. Unfortunately what they don’t have is a lot of space. WOMP. It is a small location and easy to miss if you don’t keep your eyes open coming down the block. It’s kind of like an underground establishment. And as soon as you walk in, you’ll see the bar area and some stools and on the right is the seating area and pool table/games. So let me just talk about my first time here and how amazing it was! I came here with coworkers and had an absolute blast. We came during midday since we got out of work early and of course it was not busy at all. We stayed here until about 6 or 7. That is how much fun we were having. We played pool, ordered the delicious wings they have and got some amazing and cheap Cherry Bomb, beer, and specialty cocktails. We also played beer pong for hours which proved me to be Beer Pong champion :) This bar is super fun when not crowded and has great drinks. I would love to come here again in the future before 7 pm as it tends to get really crowded after that.
