Food allergy??? Stay away… I was there a few weeks ago on a date… Before ordering an appetizer, I asked the bartender if she could check with the kitchen about a food allergy.(I am deathly allergic to sunflower seeds & oil — to the point of anaphylaxis.) She came back assuring me that I would be fine & they didn’t cook with that. I proceeded to order The hummus and pita appetizer… I asked if she could double check on the allergy when she put the order in. She returned and said that it was totally fine and contained no sunflower. When the food came out, the pita was either very toasted or looked like possibly pita chips(which usually are cooked with sunflower oil). I mentioned this to the bartender and explained that even though I was really annoying & had already asked, I needed her to check again if that specifically was safe for me to eat. For the third time she came back and said I was good. I ended up having an allergic reaction later on –thankfully it was not severe enough for hospitalization. Since I’ve had this specific allergy my whole life, I know that what caused my reaction was definitely sunflower oil. I called the hotel and explained what happened to a general manager and was told that the bar is a separate entity and that he would forward my information to the bar manager who would then follow up with me. No one ever called. The next day I called back and spoke to the same manager who again told me the bar manager would be in touch, and again no one called. I guess they really don’t care if someone’s life is in danger from a food allergy. Either the bartender didn’t handle it properly or the chef is unaware of the ingredients in his own kitchen.

Would give zero if possible. My food was served to the guy next to me and I didn’t even get an apology. They just laughed. Nothing off the bill. Zero class. Would never return.

This bar is nice and quiet if you don’t like crowded bars. It’s very clean and spacious. Best for a small group of friends or get together, but probably not great if you’re going by yourself and looking to meet new friends; definitely, not a club atmosphere. It’s so quiet, you could grab your laptop and do some work.

I walked into the bar on Tuesday evening and the bar was dead. The bar tender did not bother coming over to the table; I had to go to him. He was to busy socializing to be bothered and do his job. I had a very watered down mojito along with hummus that was terrible. In general, the service was lousy and to top it off he added a gratuity on to the bill. I would not recomend this place to anyone wanting a good time and great drinks.

Came to meet a friend who was staying here. Would not really come here for drinks, but it was convenient for both of us. Decent Midtown bar.

Cool atmosphere, GREAT music, nice bartender(he even made sure we got the second Mojito from our groupon when we tried to leave before drinking it!), and well-made drinks. Was fairly quiet, is a tad expensive, and is a bit confusing to get to(both my partner and I went to the hotel first) but overall a positive experience.

Place is really not that good. I came here on a groupon deal for 2 specialty monitors and a hummus plate. It is an average overpriced bar to start off with. The lady seemed very very very confused when I showed her the groupon and I noticed she had the same reaction when other tables showed her theirs as well. When they brought out the hummus plate it was pretty much a scoop of Sabra hummus(which I’m almost positive of) surrounded by a mound of crumbled grocery store pita chips. Their was also nothing special about the specialty mojitos. Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I would not recommend.

Yes, The Bar is a hotel bar, and priced like one. But they’ve got the best damn service at any Times Square bar that I’ve been to in my young life — and I’ve never been considered a regular there. I’ve had a variety of drinks and cocktails here, and I never properly remember my evenings here. Or won’t admit to it, anyway. Recommended.

We had a travelzoo groupon where we paid $ 30 and received 6 cocktails of our choice. The bartender(I think her name was Laurey or Lauren) was really nice and made awesome drinks. My favorite was the lychee martini which I had two of. I probably wouldn’t go here regularly since the regular drinks were $ 15 a piece but for what it’s worth, the drinks were awesome! If you want good quality, I recommend The Bar.

The drinks on the cocktail menu were creative and inventive. I wanted all of them, but they were out of several items so trying all of them was out of the question :) This bar was pretty busy for a hotel bar on a Wednesday night I was super surprised, I wonder if everyone was using the Unilocal 50% deal. Cocktails are regularly $ 14 which I feel is on par with the area and ingredients. I openly acknowledge fancy cocktails take some time to make, but the time we waited to be greeted, served drinks was kind of insane. Maybe they need more bartenders? Bottom line, I think Dream needs more. More ingredients, more bartenders, more service.

This place is super tiny however it is very cozy! I would recommend visiting THEBAR when you have just finished a business meeting and need to go out for a drink and relax. Drinks are pricey however it is to be expected in NYC.

Cute place… The drinks were a bit watered down and I’m not exactly sure how much they were b/c my friend had a groupon. From previous reviews, this place has no food… we got some pita chips and hummus, which was okay… Good place to grab a drink

This place is actually really nice — good cocktails, but overpriced(isn’t that New York though?). We tried three of the drinks — all of which the guy made incredibly well and were very tasty. Was a bit annoyed at one drink touting ‘Kentucky bourbon’ then watched the guy use Jack Daniels(which is neither from Kentucky or bourbon), but the drink was still good. The Unilocal deal is great if you check in(or at least was when I was there in February) but they seemed annoyed that we used it. Overall, a good place. Solid drinks, nice atmosphere.

Well, it’s not a bad place, I mean ambiance wise, it’s actually exactly what you might think a bar should be; just a bar with some table. I will share what another reviewer said: «NOFOOD»! There are no apps or food on the menu or hidden in the kitchen(assuming there is one close). the drinks menu is not enormous so should be pretty easy to pick a cocktail. We asked the bartender for his recommendation, but to quote his own words: «I don’t drink any of those cocktails, I just make them». So don’t expect recommendations on any of the specialty drinks. However, he also said he prefers simple drinks(not very useful to us who like coming to places to try new cocktails). At the end of it though, he was right. We had bought a groupon for 6 drinks with 53% off. We ordered 4 different drinks from the cocktail menu and all fell short to meet expectations. At the end, we asked if he could make a simple margaritas and he did, his margaritas were far better than the other drinks. We even got a second round of them. It also helps that if you check in with Unilocal, you’ll get a 50% off your full order… so we only paid $ 15 for that second round not covered by the groupon. All in all, it was nice, but not the first place that would come to mind to bring friends to a bar… Not the second or third… Maybe not really my type of place, but it was pleasant. This could be a quick drink type place in a second date. the décor, while dark and gloomy, felt pleasant and relaxing, candles lit add a bit of romance, and the music is light and low. :)

NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! NOFOOD! Oh did I mention the place has NOFOOD? There are reviews here that compliment macaroni and cheese and who knows what else. Let me repeat… THERE’S NOFOOD. That aside,(loses a star for that). The bar is GREAT!!! Sam, our waitress was an absolute Goddess. Not a trace of snobbishness or NYC rude-itude. But not only the staff… the other customers were friendlier than department store Santas. We had conversations with almost everybody who walked into the place… and were spontaneously asked to join a birthday celebration. We knew about the NOFOOD policy, and brought our own. No problem! It’s a small place, so if you’ll be a big group during peak hours(seems like 8 – 11) be prepared to squeeze around a small table. But the tight fit just lends to the super-friendly atmosphere. Prices are normal Midtown. $ 8 for a beer and up for everything else. But you can nurse that beer. Come for the staff… and the crowd! And say hi to Sam for us! –Drink Club NYC is a roving group of NY drinkers. A different bar every week.

This place really needs to look into their privacy practices. Since when does a customer’s tip get publicly posted on their facebook account? I understand the need to have good tipping etiquette, but again it isn’t a requirement, and def not something you can post on your customer. Customer shamming is never one of the qualities of a good bar.

Eh… Keep it short and simple. Place is trendy and pricy. Wouldn’t necessarily come here unless there was an event here.

I treated a friend for her birthday on an evening that we had tickets to see Il Travatore at the Metropolitan Opera. I had an expired groupon, which was of a $ 75 promotional value, but they would only honor the actual value of $ 37. I realized that, having expired, this was not unreasonable. The bar is small, comfortable club chairs and feels more like a gentleman’s cigar lounge than a hotel bar. You can sit at the bar, or get table service. What WAS unreasonable was that the bar would not allow me to purchase cocktails that were on special that evening for the special price, merely because I had a gift card. That evening, the bar had a $ 10 bellini promotion, but the dream bar charged us $ 14 per drink because we were using a gift card. I didn’t understand why they wouldn’t honor the price just because of a gift card. Did they budge? No dice. Really? You can’t give us the bellinis? The bar was EMPTY… On a positive note, our waitress was kind and friendly. The appetizers were fine, but not remarkable. All said, for the grand total of 100 bucks(with tip), you can get 2 appetizers and 4 bellinis. Um… no. For that price, I expect a foot rub. And tell me that I’m pretty, every time I am served a drink.

I want to be the interior decorator here as I think it is on its third look though might be mistaking this for a bar at another nearby hotel as thought it had a tim burton alice in wonderland look before. The place now looks like almost every wannebee trendy place though with some nice modern pictures made to look like they were taken in the 1920s. The drinks are new york hotel lobby bar priced though they do have some good beers by the bottle including a 10 year old Samuel Adams that they claim is most expensive beer. The bartender was very friendly as had a nice conversation about art and she seemed to know a couple of the customers who most be regulars which is unusual for a place like this. if staying at nearby hotel, want a quick drink after work or throwing a small party this would be a nice place but would not go out of my way to drink here. I did not try the food this time but if food hasn’t change along with redesign it was on par with your average bar and grill app menu.
