One of my favorite spots in the city, along with their restaurant across the street. Great drinks, but it’s the small plates that sets them apart from other bars. A *must* is the speck appetizer– you can thank me later.

Love this spot in midtown. Great space and vibe and very friendly and accommodating staff. Wonderful appetizer choices and viable wine list. One of my favorite spots for a quick drink and bite after work. Keep up the great food and service.

When last call means 12mins… My date and I walked into Bar Basso at 11:20 and were greeted(and I use that term loosely) but the ‘bartendress’ announcing«last call would be in 10mins. You have 10mins to order». After we ordered two glasses of Cabernet(with at least 10 other customers), she immediately billed us and the lights came on 12mins later. This is just rude… epecially on a beautiful Friday night in Midtown Manhattan. I will never return. There are plenty of other places with MUCH better wine and EXPONENTIALLY better service.

This small but spacious bar offers excellent cocktail specials and tasty food. The owner, Paolo, is extremely friendly and will strike up a conversation with you when you visit. Also, Isabela is an excellent bartender and she knows how to mix drinks. Even if it’s simple like a greyhound(grapefruit juice and vodka).

Came for some drinks and was really impressed by how cute and cozy the bar is. Would make a great date spot. We had the raspberry martinis which we absolutely loved! Anyone that comes here must try it! While, we drank we did have appetizers which consisted of bread, and different cheeses and meats(sorpresatta, pancetta). The owner and the waiter were increadibly sweet and very helfull with their suggestions. This is a place i plan to come back and visit.

Fun spot that seems to be, according to my pal who is a Met opera star, a ‘hang out for singers.’ VERY cozy but with high ceiling openness. The manager(owner?) was super attentive and everyone in the place just seemed to be happy.

Always busy but not usually overcrowded. Plenty of space. Very good selection and service. Across the street from its restaurant counterpart Basso 56. Bar opened after restaurant. Good spot for 1-on-1 with friend, colleague, or date.

Great bar. Hit or miss on how crowded it is, but reasonable prices on wine and great paninis. Owner, Paolo is great.

Have been here MANY times and it is always fantastic. A really chill place with great small plates and amazing drinks — loved the raspberry martini! The owner and the staff are all super friendly — which makes it a great experience every time.

Not bad for tourist around the area, but for locals there are better options. It is very laid back & the service is great, but the place is just too quiet. It is owned by Basso restaurant across the street.

I work in the area, and this is an excellent after-work bar option. It’s classier than some of the other bars nearby, and I really enjoy their wine menu. The bartenders are attentive, though the place can also get VERY crowded. So beware.

Cute little spot just a few blocks from work … I love how intimate this place is. There is a full bar, but what I feel is worth looking into is their wine list as well as the dessert wine. I didn’t get to try the food, but I will the next time I’m back. I see this establishment as more of a before or after dinner type of place to come for drinks. Service was top notch by the way. I’m glad my friend introduced me to this place.

Best bar in the city. Nice ambience, friendly bartender and good house music. Live acoustic music on weekends a definite plus. Good midtown bars can be hard to find but this is a real gem.

Really cute and had AMAZINGLY attentive service. Really good wine too. When in Midtown west I recommend it. The only prob is that it seems to fill up quickly.

The reasoning for 2 stars vs 4 is because the staff kicked us out at 11:30pm, but they close at 12pm. Granted we were the only ones left in there, but I felt so rushed and uncomfortable with how fast the check came out. However, the Antipasti were good and they make a mean cocktail. If I didn’t have to be in this part of town, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here for drinks.

The Burrata calda al burro tartufato is to die for! Burrata is pretty spectacular all on its own, but you add warm truffle butter to it — Baby Jesus! The service here is impeccable — at least the four times I’ve been here. Check them out, you may like them!

I can’t afford to do drinks at Bar Basso on a regular basis, but I want to! This place has delightful small plates with Italian influence. I’d classify it as a wine bar, but there are delicious cocktail options. The bartenders are knowledgeable and you feel like you’re seated in a library of wine the way the storage works with a sliding ladder. Sweet little spot — good for a date.

Bar Basso is a great addition to its neighborhood! Even if there isn’t a seat readily available, the staff will wait on you and make sure to get you seated as soon as possible. It’s not just a wine bar– but a full bar– with a nice selection The only thing I wish they had was a slight broader menu. I realize that they have their restaurant — BAsso 56 accross the street. But, it would be great if to be able to order a small bowl of pasta or little pizzas. It also woudl be great if they were open on Sundays in the FAll/Winter.

Good wine list and yummy antipasti. Prefer the intimacy of the tables by the wall – dark wood and candlelight. The problem is that it’s a very small space that’s trying to be a few different things, and I personally don’t want a huge TV screen in my wine bar(I also saw a sign about karaōke night???). Warning: on a hot day, the open doors let in some nasty sewer smells!
