The rooftop is shut people. They have moved to monarch. The site really needs to be updated.

Don’t let the establishment’s website fool you — the place is a dump. Tacky rattan/wicker chairs that reminded me of lonely single person’s studio apartment. I was waiting for the cats to wander by. Nice views, but only 180 degrees. My group of three was only allowed in after paying a $ 50 minimum per person, though to the establishment’s credit, the doorman was gracious enough to escort us upstairs. Drinks are expensive; service difficult to come by. The crowd was very millennial — and obnoxious. Trashy and very young suburban kids — pushing, shoving, screaming, and preening for selfies. Not one ounce of sophistication. We did however enjoy ourselves watching the freak show unfold. Greatest generation, they’re not. Don’t take out of town guests there, unless couldn’t care less about impressing them.

They made me leave my drivers license along with my credit card to open a tab, and when I closed the tab my license had been lost. I left my contact information with the bartender and the hostess so that I could be contacted if they found it(it was very busy when I was leaving, and they thought they would have better luck after closing), but nobody ever contacted me. I reached out to them and they had no idea what I was talking about, and said no license was ever found(it was likely never even looked for). I asked if they would reimburse me for its replacement, and they said they had to review security footage first… for a $ 17.50 expense to assuage an angry customer. Then, of course, they never get back to me about the footage. Losing my license was already a huge inconvenience, and their handling of the situation made it even worse as I had to remember to keep checking in with them and keeping tabs on the situation. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

I went to this place for my friend’s company one year anniversary party last night. It was such a great residential building and the rooftop was amazing too. The view wasn’t as good as the ones near Hell’s kitchen but I couldn’t complain because I paid nothing and enjoyed food and drinks and the view. Seating area is really nice and you can actually relax.

I came here for a friend’s birthday drinks on the roof. The drinks were decent but the service was awful and barely anyone paid attention to our table. The view was also a little bit unimpressive, everything was blocked by the nearby buildings and you could only catch a glimpse of times square if you looked far down the line. Although it was nice to feel like you were on a rooftop, the prices were steep for any kinds of drinks and I hear there’s a pretty steep minimum if you want to reserve a table for such an event such as a birthday. Aside from the rooftop area, the lower floor is crowded and sweaty. If you’re really looking for a rooftop experience this is a decent bet, but I’m pretty sure there are nicer places to check out and even apartment roofs with better views.

Well if you go there on a summer night you might love the scene. It is a roof top bar with lights on the sky and a lot of young people hanging out and getting to know others. Nice mix of music that will put you into crAziness of hot summer night. Well for me it was too crowded and it wAs too noisy. As you expected it is not cheap either. So use your discretion to see if you will like this place.

Ava Lounge is a mix of Empire Hotel’s rooftop and Sofrito’s only smaller(therefore louder), sweatier and way more cramped. But, it is really pretty. I ended up posting up at a corner spot at the bar, near the harsh lights of the hallway, just to not have to endure perspiring men in white button downs and wobbly ladies in bodycon and heels. Maybe it’s better in the summer, when the walls are ripped down and there is air circulating. About the service… got the bill and«whoa! Cool!» 28 dollars… for four drinks. Received two drinks… then waited, and waited. I decided to check the bill and realized I was only charged for two drinks. The bartender couldn’t hear my complete order. So, I tried to reorder, but she still couldn’t hear the order. So, a friend near jumped over the bar to reach the ‘tender’s ears… I got my drinks. They were expensive and watery.

Perhaps hyped up with all these rooftop bars popping up(it isn’t a rooftop bar) Drinks are too expensive and the server is snobby and they tag on 20% service charge without mentioning anywhere. Got a note from the owner pleading for a fair review. I don’t think high-end is snobby and nor do I think AVA is high-end. However, I was a bit harsh on my one-star review first time around.

Considering the location, the view, the ambiance and music, I consider 75 $ for 4 vodka redbull descent. ended up in this spot and had a great time, came with a group but attracted even larger group and at the end partied till 4 am. It was a very nice mix of a crowd with manhattanites, beooklynites, toursists and what not. Well dressed, and very busy for 11 pm on sat when we arrived.

This is a cute little rooftop bar with a view. One perk about this place is that they serve Crabbie’s Ginger Beer. Drinks are a little more on the pricey side, but it is to be expected with a great view. Lines to bathroom aren’t long. It is a great way to relax and enjoy some drinks on a rooftop!

Lovely rooftop lounge, but too crowded. The waitresses were also really nice, so thumbs up for that. The drinks were good, nothing amazing though.

I been coming here for years, I think this was my first NYC rooftop way back. I was in the area and wanted to crab something to eat and a drink. They have two parts and indoor with glass walls where you get to look down into the street and an outdoor. I usually prefer to sit inside since the seats are more comfortable, there is AC and usually a lot more places to seat. They have bar food like sliders and such but don’t let this fool you since they are actually really good. Drinks can be a little pricey but lets face it this is NYC so you know what to expect. This is a great lounge if you come during the weekday or early during the weekends. After about 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays this becomes a lounge with dancing and loud music. I love both scenes but it also depends on my mood.

I was hosting a birthday party for a good friend of mine and was looking for a nice rooftop. Ava was the answer! We booked bottle service and the service couldn’t be better! We ordered a bottle of Jameson and a bottle of vodka. The bottle service was excellent. Our server Annie assisted with getting our table set up and even moved us to a different table with a better view of Times Square later in the night. Annie offered us several mixers and kept us refilled though out the evening. She also made sure we had enough chairs for our huge party. The staff was also excellent. The hostess(maybe manager) was excellent but her name slips my mind(beautiful Asian woman). Even the bouncer staff were pleasant as well. The music downstairs was ehhhh ok. The dance floor scene was pretty quiet as well for a Friday night. All in all a great experience. Our table was intimate and it felt like we had our own VIP area in the lounge. I wouldn’t hesitate in coming back to Ava.

This Midtown bi-level penthouse lounge is great afterwork and before the serious club hoppers come trolling in. The atmosphere is accented with wood paneling and erotic art, and nice views of Times Square. I have been told that drinks are pricey but the music is good and it is a great place to find a plushy bench in the corner and get to know someone more deeply. Ladies if you want a seat get there early and stake out your territory. Seriously like go back to your hunting baser insticts and take a spot. No reason that the world needs to see your feet bleeding if you wore your«picture shoes» to a lounge and didn’t bother getting a seat.

Great views of time square. Good place to take out-of-towners. The drinks are pricy. The service was spotty

Nice small penthouse club but it’s was empty when we arrived after midnight with a huge group for a dual birthday of 20ppl. We stayed for 1 hour but had a good time with out group nevertheless. Service was excellent. DJ awesome and friendly!

Come to Ava for the majestic views of New York and to enjoy a classy evening. The drinks are potent, and well made. I had a fruity vodka mixture which was so great, I’d love to recreate it… If only I could remember what fruit they threw in. I guess that plays to the strength of the drinks. If you’re looking for an affordable evening, this is not where you want to be. The drinks are worth it, but will make a hole in your pocket.

This place is pretty selective at the door. The lady was telling groups of people that they can only come in if they put their credit card down for a table. When she saw me by myself, she just let me right in. I told my other friends to come alone, too after that! One friend confirmed it-she couldn’t go with others but she could enter by herself. Haha, so FYI… split up your group! Anyways-it’s a smaller rooftop that doesn’t have the best view… but you can just chill with some drinks. Downstairs has a little dance floor with loud music, but it was just ok overall.

A business cocktail hour where we had the entire rooftop. The two ladies in the lobby were less than excited to direct me to the elevator. With a packed rooftop and only three servers working, it took a while to get drinks(I guess they didn’t want to set up a bar upstairs) and the place isn’t easy to access to those who need assistance up the stairs(or down, after a long night of drinks). A great view of the surroundings though, on a cool summer evening, and music was the modern pop & hip-hop that people knew. Food was so-so… shrimp was grilled dry and the pizza was thin on sauce and cheese. Dumplings weren’t bad, though. And yes, after the happy hour was over, the drinks do get quite expensive. A fun place to go if you have a company event(walk back to another part of the rooftop where people seemed to avoid, but had seating and was easier to hear people talk), but not sure that I’d come here on my own volition.

Came here for Made In America event for July 4th! It was so much fun. $ 15 and all-I-can-eat hot-dogs and vodka-laced snow-cones? And a great view? Sign me up! The lower floor is more of a lounge-ish area with the bar and some low-lighting seating and(sometimes or always) a DJ. There’s not much seating but I expect usually the place isn’t this crowded. It has a beautiful view of Time Square! The roof upstairs is pretty small in terms of a rooftop bar place. Either that or there were just a lot of people that day. There’s two sections of seating — not a lot — but it’s well furnished and nice enough to stand. Highlights – — Absolutely delicious hot dogs on ‘Murrica’s birthday — Getting free snow-cones from the cute snow-cone man — Getting more free snow-cones from new snow-cone man because my friend spoke Russian and he was Russian and it was amazing — Mojitos and Gin and Tonic are super solid(though a little light — heavy sugar in the mojito and mostly tonic in the gin and tonic) — How are all the waitresses tall and hot? Will probably come back again whenever in the mood for a rooftop setting!
