I love coming here during happy hour the best. The bartender Maureen is always friendly and seems to remember my drink before I even sit down. The music is great, the people are nice and it’s a fun place to unwind after a long day at work. The staff is amazing, shot outs to Cara, Liz and Ian for always making me feel welcome. Keep up the good work guys…

Lunch time /afterwork review: In a sea of dives and retro punk spots the village has to offer — 13th step fits in to peak my interest. Complete with ESPN playing with a Top 40 playlist background This is the go to spot in my work neighborhood when people quit, have a birthday or heck you ve had a «need a drink» kind of morning. The food is good too. I like to think of it as Cheers, everybody knows your name. Maureen knows mine. Sassy and sweet. She helped me navigate the menu and introduced me to «vegetarian sliders» I like it there because I can actually hear my friends talk…

The bartenders and waitresses are rude as fuck. Tried to plug in my phone a random person grabbed it and walked off so I tapped her on the shoulder and told her that’s my phone. Another waitress got in my face and said«maybe you should plug your phone where it shouldn’t be plugged in. I had one drink here and I will never come back here. The waitresses are rude and unprofessional. This bar is trashy

Extremely crowded. Beer pong tables are quite ghetto. It’s narrow and extends far back. This is probably targeted for college students — you’ll understand right away when you enter.

If you’re looking to relive your college years, this place is for you. On the weekends, It’s usually packed with a bunch of NYU bros and Jersey tools. No wonder why since they have TVs all over the place that alway broadcast sports and a beer pong table off to the side. And it’s pretty cheep(Tuesday nights $ 1 drafts and Wednesday $ 4 drinks), so expect fighting your way through the crowd to even reach the bar. There’s a bunch of tables, but they’re always taken by large groups, so you’ll probably end up standing. I must say — The first time I ever came here, I had an AWFUL G&T. It was totally watered down and had no flavor. It was probably who ever was working that night, since when I came back, the G&Ts were fine. The bathrooms are pretty awful too, with broken toilet seats and half empty cups of beer left on the floor. These ladies sure know how to keep it classy. Despite the negatives, this place is a good time. They usually have a fun selection of remixed top 50s, so you can always get your dose of Justin Bieber and Dre.

This popped up on my feed so I thought what the hey… Been here about 4 times now, mind as well review it. THISISHANDSDOWN, a kiddie bar with a bunch of early 20s and college freshman on break trying to show off their beer pong skills. This bar is literally always packed for some reason. The floor is extremely sticky and drunkies are hogging the beer pong table, sometimes not following the board. However, the music is always top 40 and unfortunately my taste in music isn’t so diversified that I can stay I didn’t enjoy the music. Got in a few beer pong games in and won! It was nice feeling super young again but I definitely would not recommend bringing a date here. Chances are she or he will get hit on repeatedly by drunk young kids. Not returning any time soon, a little too trashy for the average taste.

The main draw to this place is it’s a pretty huge place and always packed with college students. That’s literally the only reason I go here considering the staff is incredibly unfriendly and just kicks people out for no reason so they can try and get you to bribe the bouncer to let you back in.

Typical college bar. Not much to be said there. The place can get packed and beer pong is usually set up in the corner. However, there’s a decent amount of booths and tables. Pros: AWESOME nachos and they have a charging station for phones!

13th Step is a quintessential college bar in NYC. That means lots of frat bros packing it in and drinking heavily. Prices are decent – pitchers being the best bet – and the place is pretty large. There is beer pong set up in the back for those looking to relive their glory days. This is mostly what I’ve done when coming here in the past; carving out space in the back away from the rest of the chaos. In this respect, you can definitely have a good time here if you have a large enough group. Why only 2 stars? What I don’t like is the number of times I’ve guys feel up random girls when they’ve walked by. That’s not something you normally see in bars more than once, and here I’ve definitely seen it more than once. I’m far from a bleeding heart but it bears mentioning to the women on Unilocal. Also the place ends up getting very sticky as the night goes on and people spill beers. Overall at my age(damn I sound old) I don’t have much use for a place like this – especially when there are other places that offer a similar experience much easier.

I came here to meet someone on a Saturday night and let’s just say it was so so crowded. Definitely a big space I would say and they played good music and very inexpensive too. Definitely like a college vibe here and seems very popular in this area. I would be back if I’m in the area and want to habg with some friends. There is booths in the side which is good but I didn’t get to sit till after a while of being there.

Cool place if you’re looking for that college bar vibe just to get shitfaced or watch the game with some friends. Good fried pickles. HORRIBLE nachos.

God this place screams frat star central. Beer pong, a bar full of men screaming at TVs, cheap beer specials. They do a bunch of specials during the weekday, so check that out if you’re trying to get drunk on a Tuesday($ 1 beers). Hey, do you. I came here on a Saturday and although there was no line, it was packed to get in. Drinks were relatively expensive for 13th Step, so I’d just tell you to go to another meh bar. The crowd is weird, you get your college dancers in your back, your frat gods at the beer pong tables, and older men at the bar.

Holy Batman I’ve hit the holy grail of bro bars. With happy hour just about all day erryday, ranging from $ 1 beers on Tuesdays to $ 4 shots on Wednesdays, you know you’ll be coming here for one reason and one reason only: To get absolutely trashed yet still somehow fit in perfectly with everyone else here. Don’t get too hung up on their beer menu and just go with their daily specials. After all, having to pick between Bud Light, PBRs, Rolling Rock and Narragansett is like having to decide between Trump or Chris Christie. You’re gonna get screwed either way. Anyways, moving on. This wouldn’t be a true bro bar without TVs showing sports during every moment of the day, and throngs of bros standing around yelling at the screen like it actually matters(it doesn’t, get over it — except when the Pats are playing). Speaking of throngs of bros, that’s exactly what you’ll get here. Sausages on sausages. Once in a blue moon, a female might walk in, only to find themselves surrounded immediately by the Jersey Shore guys. Oh, and they’ve also got beer pong. POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG! Anyways, long story short, if you wanna get trashed on a semi-empty wallet, this is the place to be.

Doesn’t have anything special, but is a fun place to go if you are young and want to meet other young people. We can here late on a Friday and it was packed. We were able to talk to other groups of people and make some friends, which isn’t the case in every bar in East Village. Mixed drinks were $ 7.

We came at like 10pm on a Saturday and it was pretty empty in comparison to other times I’ve been there. The drinks were $ 6.50 for a well mixed drink and well, my vodka soda was basically a cup of vodka(no complaints here). The crowd is more ~funky~…lots of 20-something men in blazers sitting next to guys in sunglasses and those t shirts that look like they’ve been spray painted… Overall a really good place to hang out and get drunk… we saw a group of 10 people all ask for 3 shots each and the bartender didn’t even blink at the order…

So, we all know that this the bar you go to after going to the decent bars in the area. Tonight, a group of us came here late night. I witnessed the bouncer let in a young girl without an ID in front of me. He ID’d me and let me in and then proceeded to deny my 25 year old boyfriend. Ok, you think he drank too much(he does not seem drunk to me, but that’s your call as a bouncer). Normally I can accept that. But, I called him out on letting in a clearly underage girl before me. He literally shrugged, said«yes I did. Mind your own business.» So, I took a picture and figured I would post it on Unilocal. Basically, if you want to go to a bar that lets in underage girls without any form of identification, but will deny a 25 year old guy, go to 13th step. If you’re 16 with tits, you’ll get in no problem.

Been here a couple times — Tuesday and Friday nights. It gets rowdy and extremely crowded, but not in a bad way. Scene is very«college» and reminds me of a big frat party. Tuesdays are the new Fridays, right? They have $ 1 beers on Tuesdays(coors and bud light on tap). With specials like that, 13th step can get dangerous really quick. If you’re looking to wild out on a Tuesday and pretend you don’t have work early the next morning, this is your spot. Bartenders are great. My initial conversation the first time I went on a Tuesday went along these lines: Me: «Can I have a corona light» Bartender: «You know its dollar beers tonight right, coors and bud light» Me: «Yeah I know» Bartender: «I only have corona extra» Me: «Yeah I’ll take it» Bartender: «Just get a dollar beer!!!» I may have been too easily convinced to have more dollar beers than originally planned that night but they’re all smiles, friendly, and efficient. Even with the crazy amount of people, you’re not waiting too long for your drink. The actual place is huge which serves them well given the crowd that they attract. They also have beer pong tables and what have you. Literally, you’re at a college party here. I wouldn’t recommend wearing anything super nice — you’ll 100% have drunk people bumping into you and spilling drinks. I’m not a fan of the security though. I know it’s not their job to be nice but these bouncers can get unnecessarily rude and nasty. Whatever. Also, it’s a sausage fest. Dudes. Everywhere. This is the first place I’ve encountered in my lifetime where there’s always a line for the men’s bathroom, but not the women’s. Works for me. 13th Step certainly isn’t my bar of choice when in the city but I wouldn’t complain if I ended up here again with the right group. Only come if you’re in the mood for a crazy night though.

I have been here twice. I have not actually ordered a drink here. Why? Well, to be honest, I actually don’t know where the physical bar is here. I think I can picture it… but the simply ridiculous number of patrons here on a weekend night just overwhelms all of the senses. My second, and equally significant reason, is that this is not the type of place I want to enjoy a drink at. Bro-ver-load. Mingling is all well and good and is a fun part of going out, but I find that nearly impossible here. Before returning to 13th step this weekend after about a year-long hiatus, I had a distinct picture of it in my mind: a vast space — HUGE by any city’s standards — overflowing with people and noise and yelling and people and beers beers beers and pandemonium. Upon walking in a second time, my memory served me well. I’m open to updating this review after spending more than 15 here(I’m not one to shy away from a cheap drink), but at this point I’m overwhelmed just thinking about it. I often complain to friends that mingling can be hard in a lot of the bars I frequent, so I feel the need to give 13th step a chance. Did I mention a lot of people come here? At the moment though, not for me.

I was somehow lured into imbibing at this particular watering hole by someone I especially like. So that already earned this place 1 – 2 stars. The bathroom was horrendously filthy, with some stalls with broken locks or lacking toilet paper. This is a major killer for me. So why the third star? Ultimately, this place was fine by me because I got all of my drinks comped, they serve pretty good bar fare, the beers are super cheap, people are generally super nice, there is a great happy hour and its a great place to pre-game(if you are still into that sort of thing). This is the Type of place you take someone turning 21 for the first time, and anyone who wants to have crazy, random fun to let their hair down a little. I had a pretty good time but it would not be a place I’d return to by choice or by myself. However, I can see it’s use and value for someone else. Try it once and see which category you fall under.

Came here on a Tuesday night and it’s packed in a good way, everyone’s here for the dollar draft beer and they have an awesome dj spinning the latest songs. The waitress is really friendly and the buffalo wings are soo good! A pitcher is $ 8 and they have a wide variety for dollar draft… Coors, bud light, Amstel and cider!(Excited for the cider) another great thing is they have two beer pong tables set up and you get to see a lot of frat boys playing against each other Pros: dollar drafts, good music, lots of tv and good food, beer pong Cons: it can be hard to get seatings so it’s first come first serve and sometimes the floors are just too sticky from over spilled beer
