I mean maybe I just went to Ryan’s on a bad night, but a friend of mine from out of town wanted to be spontaneous and go out in Manhattan. Shocker for me since I’m one of those that never leaves Brooklyn except for work. So as we are wondering around we come across Ryan’s Irish Pub, it looks nice enough from the outside so we decided to give it a chance and have a drink here. The atmosphere is very low key and everyone is in groups, so this isn’t the type of bar to go to if you’re looking to make some new friends, which we were that night. The bartender was nice enough, he was talking to the customers and got us our drinks fairly quickly. We ended up just sitting down drinking our drinks and leaving though. I mean if you have a group of people you want to just chill with and have a nice talk with I would say come here and have a few drinks, but if you are looking to make some new friends and get a little crazy don’t come here.

Pretty decent little bar. We walked in before grabbing dinner at Mark for a few drinks. We actually wound up ordering some wings to hold us over. The bartender was super friendly, she was great. She was from New Zealand. The place wasn’t terribly packed when we came in so we shoved up to the bar. Beers were normal prices, with some decent selections. I just wanted a Guinness which in my book is always refreshing. The wings were OK, they tasted a bit too much like straight up Tabasco sauce. We ordered the hot sauce, so if you don’t like real spicy watch out, my wife couldn’t eat any more because they burned her lips, well I love spicy so I ate them up. This must be an East Village thing but they were blaring«gangsta rap». I’m not sure why this is a trend in this neighborhood, Mark was the same way. These are all white kids with horned rim glasses, $ 80 flannels from Urban Outfitters does not a thug make. It was too over the top loud for 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Ryan’s had the appeal of a quaint pub and the music did not fit the atmosphere at all. Turn off the NWA and put on some Dubliners or Flogging Molly or something. Anyway, decent prices, friendly staff. I’d probably hit it up again.

Go and try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich. Went with my roommate for a cozy brunch. Low key and quite during the day, but the perfect place to catch up, enjoy a good meal, good service, and actually have a conversation without screaming over loud, distracting music. The server was so nice and really made it an enjoyable experience. She even made sure we got an extra brunch drink in before time was up.

We came here for dinner and drinks. Great, cozy, and unpretentious. The menu is pretty awesome for an Irish pub. My husband had nachos with REALGUACAMOLE which is crazy because even so-called Mexican restaurants in NYC don’t usually have real guacamole. I had the Ryan’s BBQ burger with crispy onions and blue cheese — mm’mm, it was excellent! The drink selection was decent and they have a lot of beers on tap, though I wish they had a cider on tap. There are also lots of cocktails. Definintely try the gin-grapefruit-champagne drink — it is delish!

I wish I could give a zero star. This is the worst fucking place on earth. They charged 15 dollars for half a pint of Guinness with terrible service

Came in here after a night of drinking everything under the sun to conclude my night. It’s a run of the mill pub. Whatever. People are friendly here and there aren’t that many annoying people. Prices aren’t too shabby either. Only thing though, my friend paid the tab and the girl came back again and asked if we wanted the check and my friend was like… uhhhhhhhhhhh we already paid. The waitress was like.“oh, really?” Girl… we weren’t that drunk for you to try to eff us over with our money.

Popped in here on an afternoon for a beer and to use their free wifi. Well, I ended up having two Guinness. Only 4 $ for a Guinness on tap(til 8PM), good bar music and a friendly bartender. And they have Leffe Blonde on tap! For the wifi password, just ask the person behind the bar. Their gin cocktails looked delicious, maybe I’ll go back there to try one.

Very much enjoyed this place! A friend and I were walking around looking for an affordable place to eat and their menu sounded good. The food was excellent. The service great and the staff friendly. And the food was affordable. I can’t think of a single reason not to come back. We sat outside and never went in for anything so I can’t attest to the bar atmosphere.

I’m basing this review off one experience. A bunch of us came in to watch soccer on a Tuesday afternoon. The place was practically empty which was nice. Now this is the part that gets weird. We notice the the TV’s are all playing but no sound, only the blaring 80s metal music from the bartenders iPod. We ask him if he could turn on the game sound but the bartender said the manager won’t allow that. Makes no sense esp for a bar that has multiple TV’s and regularly plays soccer. We ended up leaving and going next door to scholars bar. A few days later I passed by Ryan’s again to see what it was like inside. Low and behold the same bartender was there but this time the game was on and full blast. Possibly because it was Ireland playing? Chances are yes. If racist bartenders are your thing, then go to Ryan’s.

A solid, non-jock bar along a row of blocks with practically nothing but jock bars. Refreshing to get a drink in a glass instead of a clear Solo cup. There’s nothing particularly special about the place other than the drastic change in attitude compared to its neighbors. Prices are pretty average; I paid $ 6 – 7 for my drinks. Come if you want to be able to hear what your friends are saying. Do yourself a favor by avoiding the abomination next door that is Thirteenth Step.

Great little dive-ish NYC irish bar. Drinks were reasonably priced and free-flowing and the«Beer and Burger» special was quite nice. No complaints at all.

Was hitting a show at The Studio at Webster Hall(a reunited Saigon Kick for those interested in my music reporting adventures) and while the original plan was to hit The 13th Step as its a usual haunt for me when coming to this particular venue, my show companion and I opted for the pub next door, Ryan’s Irish Pub. It was just about 6pm and there were only a few patrons inside which lent to be a better atmosphere for conversation. This was good since my friend doesn’t drink and I was not looking to have more than a single pint with whatever my dining choice would be. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a smiling and friendly server and we totally had the run of where we would sit. The young lady was so charming I said I should tease her and Unilocal about her friendliness being off-putting(well, we are in NYC and so many people think us rude after all). I was kidding of course as this manner was greatly appreciated and is to be commended. For food my friend and I shared two appetizers. The boneless buffalo wings and an order of potato skins(with bacon and cheddar as opposed to the also available chili and cheddar). The boneless wings had just the right amount of heat and were wonderful while the potato skins seemed a bit on the bland side. Should I be here again I will not recommend or order them and instead opt for something else. The main course for me would be a Hamburger ordered with pepper jack cheese and bacon for a small extra charge. Had the chance to swap regular fries for sweet potato ones and this worked out overall. My friend had a sliders plate with onion rings and since I snagged one from her can say that they do them right as well. Conversation was easy based on the time of our visit but the space is rather dark so keep that in mind. Overall a pleasant experience and one that I will consider again when the need arises. Now it was off to the concert.

Went here cuz we were waiting for dinner reservations. It was pricey and they didn’t have much of a selection at all. Would not recommend.

Went here for my 23rd birthday and got a pint as well as the Guinness stew. I studied abroad in Ireland for 4 months and this place took me back. I haven’t had stew that tasted just like the kind I had in Ireland. A great small place for good company. Also the bar tender played awesome music.

This is an authentic, divey NYC pub. Came here on a Monday night so it was nice and quiet. Our server was really sweet and the food was great — BLT and Fish sandwich. Not a ton of beer choices but enough to keep me happy, and decent prices. I would come back for sure! Also a plus — happy hour goes till 8pm and you can get 3 drinks for $ 10! Woo hoo!

Super divey, 3 dollar jäger shots, and a decent selection of brews on tap make for a good night. If you just want to take it easy and aren’t feeling too clubby, then come check this place out. Nice place to have a one on one catch up or have a few beers with some friends. Very casual, and not much effort goes into impressing people here. Chill.

Maybe I am not well-versed in faux-Irish pubs, but it seems that 80s anthems by Poison and Journey, as well as Top 40, are integral to the experience. When raucous NYU students and the Staten Island bar-hopping crew get a little too into«Don’t Stop Believing» or the new Taylor Swift song, it gets very frustrating. I smell like Jack and Coke due to being doused by an entry-level drinker who could not hold his drink AND fistpump simultaneously. Although I have to take an unanticipated trip to the dry cleaners now, the cheap drinks, Goose Island IPA on tap, and friendly bartenders leave me feeling not too bitter about it. Come here wasted and none of what I said will matter.
