Went briefly into Central bar to drop in on a friend’s birthday. When I first walked in, it seemed like a typical sports bar/Irish pub, and was immediately confused because my friends are a bit more ratchet than that. It turns out that my friend were upstairs on a separate floor… Walking up the stairs you slowly hear the music getting louder and louder. The upstairs floor is a stark difference from the first floor bar. The second floor had a nightclub-esque feel. There was a live DJ and a bar adjacent to the dance floor. I really liked the option of choosing between one of the two different floors and I definitely liked the price of the drinks(I don’t clearly remember but i think 5 shots of Jameson was 40 $?). I did have some qualms with this bar, I wish they had a larger draft selection, Irish pub and all(No Guinness on tap??). I also wish they hadn’t backlight the beer bottles, it makes it hard to see which bottled beers they had. [edit] So on a particularly drunken night, I decided to accidentally leave my bar tab and my cc at the bar. When i realized this the next morning, i called and they were able to graciously keep it at the bar for me. I’ve heard of bars that charge money for overnighted cards but this places was great and didn’t fine me for my drunken escapades. Also on Sunday this place turns into an awesome Seahawks bar! They set up tables and projector screens everywhere. I don’t follow football but if I was a Seahawks fan, this is where I would want to be.

Came here for a friend’s bday. Drinks where inexpensive. The bartender that started my night was great but you some how remember the ones that sucked and they made the rest of the night memorable in that sense when it came to the bar. Terrible bartender, she couldn’t handle the drinks that had to be made. And the bouncers for the upstairs part just wanted to start fights with people. Smh. But like I said the prices where good for the city and the downstairs part was awesome. Up stairs was just not the place to be

A nice place to grab lunch with coworkers or watch the game. There isn’t really anything about Central Bar that stands out or sets it apart from other sports bars in the area, but I have noticed that every time I’m here, the service has been great. The bartenders are friendly and willing to share their personal favorites off of the menu. If you describe the kind of drink you’re looking for, they’re also helpful at recommending the best options available. I particularly like Central Bar’s cocktails, especially the Cucumber Cooler, consisting of Crop Organic Cucumber Vodka and their own House Limeade. And during Happy Hour, it’s only $ 6! The Cucumber Cooler is the ideal blend of sweet and tangy, while also serving as a refreshing pick-me-up on a summer day(you can tell that I’m still clinging to the last few traces of summer in December). There are a million bars in the East Village, but Central Bar is a consistent, reliable choice for a casual drink or a spot to hang out.

Great bar to grab some food and drinks. Pretty spacious with lots of tvs all over the place. Drinks are reasonably priced and the service was very attentive. Definitely check it out. It’s a Seattle Seahawks bar so if you’re not a fan of them, beware.

great bar! good food! and good service! I work near here and come a few times a month for an after work drink. Happy hour is hectic bit the drink specials are priced right. As for food try the korean bbq wings. We had them as part of a $ 25 sampler where u can pick any 4 appetizers for $ 25. Our server, while quite busy, kept us supplied w drinks and was attentive.

This review is for our experience during a Seahawks game. We were visiting from Seattle and San Diego and needed to catch the Hawks game against the Vikings. The Central Bar was perfect. Lots of 12s and good vibes. We got there about 10 – 15 minutes before the game and got a table for 5. $ 5 skittle shots and $ 15 pitchers of red hook! Despite there being a bunch of people, we had great service.

My favorite place to watch the Seahawks on a Sunday! The energy reminds me of a Seattle bar. The place has plenty of seating. Drinks and the food are great too!

On my 1st visit, I had the fish & chips. The fish was typically Irish in prep. Hard shell of batter but on the inside It was flaky and flavorful. The fries were exceptionally good. Service is excellent! For my next visit I had a side salad. Their side salad is meal in & of itself. It was massive! Cool place overall and consistent! People always seem to be enjoying the atmosphere at the bar as well.

Decent local bar — about 18 beers on tap. I had a Long Hammer IPA. Plenty of seats at the bar plus a lot of tables — it is a good sized place. Bartender was nice enough. Background music was something Pop. Lots of guys and no girls at 5:30 on a Thursday evening.

Came here while waiting for a local restaurant to seat us and it turned out to be a solid interim bar. Didn’t stand out too much as far as personality goes but it is definitely a great place to come for a drink or two. Spacious and lively without being too crazy or crowded(it was a Wednesday night though). I would imagine things change on weekends.

Golden water n my glass but no Ira glass here is mostly sport world. The boys yell and the hats backwards the scream about the team they favor n I just say«what is it that u evn know if u can’t be the team boy» team boy know teAm boy tells team boy yells. The mush n the steam while I wait for the chrome dome noodle bowl delight. Squishy when I pushy in my hot head hole

I absolutely adore this place, and I have for the last few years. The drinks are good, the food selection is bar-like but continues to evolve over time. I LOVE the atmosphere. It’s a sports bar, but also usually pretty dark and inviting. They take reservations for tables, which is FREE. Friday and Saturday the upstairs bar turns into a free dance club. Just went back to NY this past weekend and of course I stopped it — still great but they changed the signage so much I almost didn’t recognize it!

I came to Central Bar for a roommate’s birthday party on a Friday night. It’s just south of Union Square and far enough west from the cacophony of the East Village Bar scene. The music is good but a little too loud for conversation. The drinks were plentiful and I did enjoy their decently-priced Spiked Arnold Palmer. I was a bit bummed to see that hard ciders cost about the same price as their lowest priced cocktails… hence me getting the aforementioned cocktail. Heh.(I just can’t justify spending $ 8 bucks on a Magners.) I heard there’s a crazy dance floor upstairs, but I never made it that far before I had to bounce for the evening. No major complaints! It’s a nice little spot. They had many Happy Hour options highlighted in the menu; I think I’d be inclined to come back here for a Happy Hour rather than a night out.

A fun place to grab a couple of drinks downstairs or join the dance party upstairs. The upstairs has a dance floor, which is a lot of fun, and the DJ is always playing top 40. The downstairs is more chill, relaxed, and very spacious for grabbing a drink and socializing. Always a good time!

It’s not a particularly nice bar but pretty spacious, alot of room upstairs. I liked the half-crescent lounge chairs facing a large protection screen — a great spot to relax, stretch out and watch the NBA finals. The sweet potato fries were alright too.

Where do I even start. Let’s just say I’m glad I was there during happy hour cause that’s about all they have going for them. Even that though, Vodka Limeade, what am I in high school again sneaking booze from my parents? Music is loud AF — however, it’s a clever way for your date to get you to come over to his side of the bench. The food — boring typical American bar food. Asian wings, cause you know a spot like Central Bar is killin’ it in the Asian food game. The burger — I would have been better off going to Burger King and if you know me, you know I don’t eat that crap. The fish tacos, meh. Rockaway Tacos, I’m coming for you bae. The only other 2 things that slightly won me over: 1. sweet potato fries 2. the waitress complimenting my arms. yah, I said it. Do yourself a favor, have a drink and move along. The food ain’t worth it.

Always a reliably good time at Central Bar. Definitely a good spot to host birthday parties upstairs. It’s always better to start earlier here(11?) upstairs because it gets packed and hot at 1am, and for good reason: the music is always on point(hip –hop/pop/edm) and the drinks are(gasp) reasonably priced! Bartender service is quick too, even when it’s packed. My only gripe is about how hot it gets upstairs. Also, there are bathrooms on three levels so if you see a line, just take a quick walk to another. Door guy is also cool and not there to bust balls. Keep this place in your pocket for a reliably good spot when you feel like dancing but without the bs.

My office is across the street so it’s really nice to have a good bar right on our block. The happy hour deals are great… and when happy hour ends it doesn’t break your pocket when you have to pay full price for drinks. I’ve only been here on weekdays after work. It is very spacious and you can find a seat for a majority of the time. Their food is delicious… I strongly suggest the cheeseburger spring rolls(comes with 3) and the chorizo nachos… These always get nibbled down quickly with a group of people! The chicken fingers and quesadillas are also a solid choice. No complaints with the food that’s for sure! There is an upstairs which has been a great space for holiday parties as well as the World Cup. They also have trivia night on Tuesdays that starts at 8… and it is really the best time. They play music that correlates with the clue to guess. I suggest reserving a table as a lot of people come for happy hour and stay for trivia. No complaints about this bar!

Poppin! Always a good time. They have a dance floor upstairs, and they play some pretty bumpin hip hop tunes. However, you need to coatcheck before you go upstairs. Place gets pretty packed, so make sure to get there early! If you’re not into dancing, you can chill on beer downstairs. I bought 3 jamo shots for about 24 bucks(to give you an idea of how much drinks are there). I will definitely return again! Plus, free cover!
