Yum! The sesame crusted bread is fuego. I started with the arancini(rice balls, 1 veal and 1 shrimp) so good. Then I had the margherita pizza for my dinner, equally delicious brick oven pizza. My friend got the lobster ravioli, which was a special-I do not like lobster, but it was pretty good and in a tasty sauce. I would go back! Got a little pricey with the wine, but otherwise reasonable.

Had such a negative experience here. I don’t know how this place has so many positive reviews. The service was terrible here and the waiters completely neglected our table. The food was under salted and the pizza had almost no flavor. Extremely disappointed after seeing such positive reviews!

I ordered pick up from Tavolas this evening and what a cute place! Its cozy, has a romantic ambiance with about 15 tables. Even though I ordered pick up, the food was ready within 10 minutes. As for the food selection, I ordered the Pappardelle Porcini Mushroom Veal Ragu which was fantastic! The pasta was homemade and the veal ragu mixed with porcini mushrooms was nutty, buttery and velvety which made me crave each and every bite! I plan on going back to try their wood fire oven pizza!

Bustling and jolly atmosphere. Friendly staff. We had the burrata and the egg plant bruschetta which were both really tasty, followed by sharing the artichoke pizza. All topped off with the digestivos which they don’t advertise but I had the apple fizz which was yum. Really really good. Will return!

The food here is DELICIOUS. So yummy and so good. The real reason behind 4 stars rather than 5 is the fact that it’s a little pricey for me for the portion sizes. For the price, I would expect slightly larger portions, but for the location in the city it’s still reasonable. If there was a 4.5 star option, it would get that. I came here for dinner and i’ll only elaborate on what I got: Grilled Local Calamari and the Fusilli Lunghi Siciliano Pesto Trapanese. The Grilled Calamari was PERFECTION. I’ve mostly only had fried calamari at restaurants, so I was actually a little surprised when this plate came out. We just said«calamari,» but it does say on the menu that it is grilled. This was one of the best calamari dishes i’ve ever eaten! Too bad there were 3 of us, and only 3 pieces of Calamari. The pasta was delicious, a very light flavor but great. The pasta portion was borderline just right/maybe could’ve used a little more. Delicious Italian spot, and i’d love to go back to try more dishes on the menu, as well as the pizza!

This place was great. Had papadelle and pizza. The papadelle was off the hook. Sauce was good and the meat in the sauce was a nice touch. Pizza was ok at best. Problem was the crust got soggy. They use that ultra thin crust but it gets soggy with the sauce and ruins the pizza. Anyways besides that they get 4 starts since the pasta was awesome and the place was warm and cozy. I don’t get the décor tho… some things looked like they are from Egypt? Weird but anyways go there if you can. I’m definitely going back

I can see why this place has such high reviews. The food is very tasty. And the service is good. The décor is also very cute. Nice cozy spot. I went there with my son and boyfriend but it’s definitely a cute date spot. Must try!

While in the city visiting, we were looking for a good authentic Italian restaurant for dinner. After reading a lot of good reviews on Unilocal,we decided to give Tavola a try. The restaurant is very small but packed in with tables. The host(and possibly the manager?) was very nice and found a place for us in the busy restaurant. That was about the end of our good experience here. Our waiter, I wish I could remember his name, was awful. He was rude and acted like it was such an inconvenience to serve us. The food was bland, the only saving grace was that you could tell the pasta was freshly made. Otherwise, there was no flavor to anything. At the end of the meal, our wonderful waiter literally threw the bill down on our table and quickly walked away. Don’t waste your time or your money here. I can promise that there are much, much better choices.

I came here with a friend one afternoon for a late lunch/early dinner. We were a little disappointed that we stumbled in on happy hour and they serve pizza only. However I love pizza so it wasn’t that bad. I had rose wine which was tasty, and the margarita pie. The pizza was good but a little watery which made the crust soggy. I would like to come back and try the normal menu though.

We stopped by here since it was the closest sit down near the convention hall. The staff sat us right away, which was nice as it was relatively quiet on a Friday afternoon. For lunch specials, the prices were a bit higher than expected with dishes ranging from $ 10 up to $ 20. I opted for the pesto with the thick pasta. It was DELICIOUS. And the dish looked small but there was a lot of pasta in it. Super filling. My bf got their pizza, which he really liked. I’m not a fan of brick oven pizza because of the charring but he really enjoyed it so if you’re a fan of brick oven, check it out. The bathrooms are super small but clean. I’d definitely dine here again.

Was recommended to come here by a good friend due to their Pizza Oven, which is amazing and produces one of the best pizza dough ive had in a while. Best part is its not too heavy either and very light. Started of with a salad which was amazing and some bread, ended up ordering a second as well, the pizza do take some time to get out but it is made with pure love. Service was great it was a Sunday night but there was a good crowd, ambiance was very nice but i feel teh lighting should be a bit brighter feels too darkie if your sitting at the end.

Repeat after me — Ross is your man!!! My cousin and I stopped by here during the middle of Comic Con to grab a bite to eat and drink. We got a seat by the bar and Ross made sure our afternoon was full of entertainment, laughter, and fun! They only serve 10″ pizzas in the late afternoon(no appetizers and no pastas which I thought was a little odd). However, the Vendetta Sarda was very delicious! It’s a pizza filled with wild boar sausages, wild mushroom, mozzarella and plum tomato. The pizza dough was soft but still chewy! They also didn’t have garlic powder(another weird thought)…but they did give me some freshly chopped up garlic. Haha. Beer on tap was quite expensive(around $ 10). Regardless, it was good!

I was in the area last night and used Unilocal to find this place. I figured it would me decent — not great, but I was really hungry and in the area. First off the waiter we had really needs to work on his waiter AND people skills. He just seemed like he would rather be anywhere else, was not friendly, or knowledgeable in the least. We ordered the Casaveltrano olives to start, and they were extremely marinated and overly seasoned. My husband sent them back and requested a soup instead. It seemed like an issue and the waiter stood speaking with who I assume was the manager and other waiters for a few minutes. Definitely shouldn’t be done in front of customers. The lentil soup hubby got instead had zero flavor. Then came the Margherita pizzas. I ordered mine with Buffalo mozzarella for an upcharge, hubby got regular mozzarella. My pizza had 3TINY pieces of charred basil on it, the sauce was so watery several places on the pie had none at all, and the cheese was ok. The sauce literally tasted like it came from a can, and the least they could’ve done was add a sufficient amount of basil AFTER the pizza came out of the oven. Who serves burnt basil?! Hubby said his was«ok» Definitely skip this place, from the lackluster service(which reflected in his tip) to the way below average pizza — you can do better

When out of town guests want to go to dinner somewhere«near port authority» so they can hop on a bus home, I always shudder. I headed straight to Unilocal and stumbled upon this wonderful Italian restaurant! This restaurant had AMAZING gnocchi! And to make it even better, they had a choice of Gorgonzola sauce to accompany it which is one of my favorites. The gnocchi was fluffy and light, not too heavy. Another huge bonus about this place, the portions were just right. Not to little but not too much where you felt like you had to be rolled away from the table. Everyone in my party was happy with their meal and everything was finished by people wanting to try a bit of everything. My only complaint was the temperature. It was crazy hot. The brick oven is very large and it gives heat to the rest of the restaurant. We were seated right in front of it, giving us a prime heat spot. I want to come back for their pizza. I checked out their brunch menu, they have breakfast pizza. Who doesn’t love breakfast pizza?!

Very nice atmosphere, staff is excellent. Service was very quick and friendly. Ordered two pizzas and a salad for 3 people and it was more than enough food. Most pizzas have very interesting ingredient combinations which are quite unique.

Love this place! Already thinking about what I am going to order the next time I visit. The atmosphere is romantic Italian café with candlelight and white tile walls. Perfect date spot. Let’s jump right into food– Complimentary semolina bread and olive oil, yes please! Caesar salad– nice light(not creamy) dressing and homemade croutons Meatballs– order of three, tender mix of veal and pork with tomato sauce Parpadelle with veal ragu– first thing the server recommended and I totally get why, saucey flavorful goodness I swear I licked my plate clean Pizza with wild boar sausage, ricotta, basil, shrooms and plum tomatoes– coal fired thin chewey crispy personal sized ahh this was so good. Loved that I was able to eat some of it at leftovers the next night Was so full after this amazing meal that couldn’t even look at dessert, but I’m sure it is delish. Next time I come back I wanna get the bracciole, rarely ever see it on menus around the city and its a personal fave!

Starving after walking The High Line and heading to a show off Broadway, we were happy to find this place! Service was quick, food was better than expected, and our stomachs were happy and full. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon(rare). Now usually I like my steak medium rare and can’t usually eat a steak that is barely cooked. But the way Tavola cooked their steak was perfection. It was a PERFECT rare and the center was hot and so tender it was literally like butter as they say. It was delicious; couldn’t have been better. The steak came with mushrooms on top and potatoes and brussel sprouts on the side. I went with the margherita pizza and it was okay. The sauce was a little bland for my liking, The(personal size) pizza was nice and thin and a great portion. The inside is very casual, the menu is pretty limited. They don’t have chicken parm which I found odd — they did have eggplant parm on the menu though.

Great restaurant! I loved this place! The waiter was nice, attentive and friendly(Wish I remembered his name). Good selection of wines. Nice quite place for conversation. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli and it was great. The menu and the plates of those around us looked great. We actually were the last ones to leave and they didn’t rush us which was so nice.

Friends and fellow Unilocalers! Lend me your ears. You may not find this very interesting but I thought I would share my typical travel routine when flying and arriving in New York. I know you’re asking yourself why this is important. Because at the end of a long trip I always find my way to Tavola Wood Oven Trattoria in Midtown just down the street from the Marriott Courtyard where I usually stay. So here we go! I always fly into Newark airport and take the New Jersey Transit to New York Penn Station. Why the New Jersey Transit? Because they have a train leaving from the Newark airport to New York Penn Station every twenty minutes where Amtrak leaves only every hour and Amtrak is twice the cost in this instance. Also, you buy your ticket on your phone with the MyTix app for iPhone. Just remember not to activate the ticket until you get to the station of departure. Once I arrive at Penn Station, I walk a couple of blocks to the Marriott Courtyard on West 37th, check in and by that time it is dinnertime. Just around the corner from the hotel is the best Italian restaurant where everybody knows your name, if you get my drift. They have some of the best Lasagna Della Casa and Eggplant Parmigiana that New York has to offer. Yes I know, there is a great Italian everywhere in New York, but you will not be disappointed at Tavola. They carry only Italian wines from all over Italy and the prices are New York reasonable. I can’t recommend Tavola enough. Thank you Tavola for being a great part of my culinary community!
