The service at this restaurant is terrible(had to ask for drink order to be placed after 10 min of sitting down with no one coming by, waiter took down the wrong order and I had to wait for another 20 min while my companion ate her dish first, the waiters just didn’t seem to know what was going on and seemed very harried). The pasta is good, but not good enough to warrant coming back again to put up with such service. Also, portions are small. The restaurant itself is very small and the tables are right on top of each other so prepare to be squeezed.

Went to this restaurant on a date and trust me everything was simply perfect. Attention, service, food, wine accompanied with my date was just amazing. I had Penne a la Vodka with chicken and it was simply delicious. Already told my friends about this cozy place and will be back soon with my crew. Thank you for the way you treated me!!! Bought the groupon for $ 35 — went with a friend of mine on monday night. It included 2appetizers or 2 salads along with 2 entrees of your choice. The only thing we paid for was tax the wine and tip. I have no complaints. Waiters were very polite and attentive, and the food was excellent. Definitely try the bruschetta if you have a chance!

Love this place. Small but quaint. The owner, Mario, is so nice. Food is excellent. Ambience is perfect. Wait staff is attentive & courteous. Try the chicken scarpariello or the chicken francais. My favorite restaurant in NYC.

They are CLOSED! Tried coming here for dinner Initially I tried calling them to make a reservation but their phone number was disconnected. Then contacted them through Facebook and was told they would be open on Monday. Went on the following Thursday and the restaurant was empty. Everything was torn down. Looks like they are renovating??? Not sure. Or maybe they went out of business? Now I have a groupon that I will not be able to use.

I can NOT wait until we get to come back to this place. We found it on groupon when we can up for a romantic get away to NYC(well, a romantic get away and the New York Comic Convention!). Get the lasagna. It’s almost a must! The wait staff was incredible. The drinks? Not even slightly watered down. It’s tiny, though. I’d call ahead.

I had a great dinner at Mario’s. A quaint little place for an intimate dinner with good food. They brought over a couple free drinks for us to taste which we really enjoyed :) Prices were decent and the service was good.

DONTEVERCOMEHERE! place said open at 11:30 on their website, got there at 12:30 and all the chairs were up and the looked at me like i had 5 heads when i said i had a reservation. couldnt find a reservation, asked who i spoke with and said i wasnt on the list. then having a groupon was a problem also. she said we dont accept these for lunch, i told her i specifically told the guy on the phone we had a groupon. she said we will take it for today but never again for lunch. no problem, with $ 9 drinks that were 95% soda i will never return. made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted. bill was ridiculous. waste of time and money. im livid. giving one star only because i cant give it negative 100

Was there on 01÷05÷14 to meet a family friend for dinner. Tiny, cozy, and quaint dining area. We were at a table by the door which afforded us a street view. They showed me a wine list(with 5 options) but only had 3 available. The food was good. We tried the garlic knots and two different salads, MOZZARELLACAPRESE, and their INSALATAALLAMARIO. Our dining options were solid — penne alla vodka, penne bolgonese, chicken parm, meatballs, and the grilled salmon. The service was abysmal. Our waiter was incompetent and inattentive. We waited forever for water(had to ask 3 times). He forgot an appetizer(calamari). We waited forever for the possibility of dessert and after dinner drinks. I had to walk to the bar as the waiter had no clue what after dinner drink options where available. I don’t blame the waiter, I blame management as he obviously was untrained and there were no quality standards applied to his service. I liked the food, and I’d be willing to try it again, hoping for a little better waiter, and a little bit more supervision from the management.

More like 0. We had reservations and as we got there we saw closed signs on the door. Apparently the health inspector mandated they close immediately due to severe sanitary violations. I guess I should be thanking NYC, smh.

Please afford myself the opportunity to say Thank You Mario Trattoria’s for the intimate dinner atmosphere. This should be a selling point, truthfully! Cozy, Quaint, Quiet, Good food = precursor for pleasant evening. The wait staff sufficed forever nothing to boast over. However their Ravioli; remarkable as well the Pasta! Positioned, next to the entrance turned out delightful as well, due to the rain — which somehow enhanced the intimate dinning experience. Locale– only a hop, skip, jump away from entertainment. May not be my first choice for chow; certainly would not be my last. Give Mario’s a shot! Until my next evening of entertainment– Have a fine Marine Corps Day Ohh Rahh!

Came here for a friend’s birthday on a Saturday night. We were a party of 10. It took a while to get us all seated; however, Mario, the owner, was kind enough to provide us with a complimentary bottle of wine and a bruschetta appetizer while we waited. My eggplant rollatini was delicious. The bread basket was just okay. They brought out a tiramisu for my friend and sang to him for his birthday. A very small and cozy restaurant with dim lighting and friendly service. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

We didn’t actually eat here. We had reservations for last week and the restaurant was closed when we got there. I know stuff happens but it would have been nice if someone called to inform. Just saying.

First night in town my mom and I were lucky enough to have the hotel staff recommend this gem nearby. The décor was so welcoming, comfortable, and felt like quintessential NY. The staff COULDNOT have been nicer… to a person they were kind and attentive. Mario was there and we were lucky enough to have him join us for a bit… what a treat! We were eating light so only had soup and salad, but wow, I’ve never had better Minestrone in my life. We’re going back in 2 days with more people, as we want to partake of more of their treasures… plus there’s live Opera on Fri & Sat beginning at 7! Yay! DEFINITELY go here if you want to feel like New York is giving you a BIG hug.

Man… either we really lucked out or eating here is the better option(see a lot of negative reviews for ordering out). We found this place through Unilocal while we were visiting NY and we were craving Italian but didn’t want to spend a TON of money. Quick walk from our hotel, easy to find place, and its so cozy once you enter the restaurant(even though we were right by the door, we never got a huge draft). The low lighting is great and you can smell all sort of goodies. Our waiter was super nice and always available when we needed him. Bread and olive oil/balsamic was DELICIOUS. The bread almost had a pizza flair to it and the dipping combo was aged very well. We have become addicted to dipping our bread like this now! We both wanted veal, but sadly they were out for the night(it was pretty late on a Friday, so not a huge deal). We both opted for our standbys, mine is Chicken Marsala and his is Chicken Parm. Both had a ton of food on the plate and it was pretty good. One of the best parts of the meal was that there was an Opera Singer there serenading the crowd, he was amazing and it just felt really special for an intimate dinner in NY.

Very good, but mostly because I had a Groupon for it. It was $ 35 for two appetizers and two entrees(price restrictions, but not by much). I had mostly seafood, the baked clams and then a big seafood/pasta dish. The aked clams were alright. Do you know that salty feeling you get from eating seafood? It was like that, like they didn’t really clean it well. But anyway, it was just an appetizer. The pasta/seafood dish(clams, shrimp) was really good. I love seafood and I love pasta and it was the perfect combination. I can’t say anything about the meat dishes. On the other hand, the staff was very friendly. They never rushed me. I also LOVE the atmosphere. They light the candles right in front of you. They sit in the little crevices in the wall and it is so nice to have a candlelight dinner. But it just didn’t suit the area we were in. It’s right by Port Authority and the FDR Drive, which really isn’t any«candlelight worthy» area. Besides that, they open the doors very wide and let the air in. It was a nice night so that was fine, but right after I stepped out, I had a whole bunch of mosquito bites on my foot(I wore flats, that was the only uncovered part of my body). The crowd was definitely much older, likely locals. If I didn’t have a Groupon, I probably wouldn’t come here. The food is a tad bit expensive, but what can you expect if you’re in the city?

Came to this place for dinner on a Wednesday and found it to be a nice place to meet a friend to catch up. It’s relatively small with a pretty interior and big windows so you can look outside. We ordered garlic bread with mozzarella cheese, baked ziti with meatballs, and the Quattro formaggi pizza. All were good! Except maybe we should’ve ordered the garlic bread without cheese bc it honestly could’ve passed for a pizza. Baked ziti was good, like all ziti. Meatballs that came with the dish were just alright. The Quattro formaggi pizza did not mix the 4 cheeses like I expected but laid them out individually around the pizza so you could taste each type. Pizza was very cheesy and good! My friend thought it was a little bit too cheesy/much so she sprinkled pepper on it. Didn’t get to try all 4 cheeses bc the serving sizes were very generous. In fact we could not finish everything and got half of the pie to go. Towards the end of the night, they dim the lights and light candles which I thought was nice. The noise level is very low and I don’t think there was any music playing either.

Why won’t Unilocal make a better app for BB users? Of course I didn’t see the 60% coupon based on looking up Mario’s through my phone. Walking down 9th in Hell’s Kitchen looking for a place to eat is like swimming around in Hawaii looking for fish. We were itching for Italian so we hit Mario’s based on the overall reviews. The atmosphere was very laid back. There were a few tables of families with little kids and other tables with couples. The lighting is rather dark giving it a romantic ambiance. They use real candles to light up the place. It’s a perfect date spot! They start you off with a basket of bread and a plate of olive oil. Watch your carb intake or you’ll be too full for the main course. I ordered the Linguine Alla Mare. The quality of the seafood here was above average. Big, juicy shrimp, calamari, clams and mussels. However, the pasta simply lacked in flavor. It was almost like it was flavorless red sauce. Completely bland. I had to sprinkle some of the crushed red pepper to give it a kick. Luckily they made it up with the seafood. The service was decent. The restaurant was small and there weren’t a lot of people there but our waiter worked at a speed of a turtle. I’ll most likely never come back seeing as there are a plethora of choices in the neighborhood.
