I enjoyed the ambiance, the place was very inviting and relaxed but wouldn’t go back. The food didn’t match the prices. The staff were pretentious and unfriendly. The waitress was uninformed and unaware of the contents on the menus. I’m a food enthusiast, if I ask a? I expect an educated answer! This was 2 years ago.

Maybe it’s because we didnt come here with high expectations(based on the 2.5 stars on Unilocal — but i had a coupon) — but it wasnt a bad experience at all. honestly, i’ve had much worse at 3 — 3.5 rated restaurants. the burgers are standard. nothing horrible to warrant a bad review. the steak was ok and the grilled octopus was decent. but i have to point out their beets + gorgonzola salad tho — i would come back just for tht salad… to sum it up for you, the food was ok(with my coupon/deal) would i come back without one? probably not…(unless one day im in the neighborhood and have a hankering for beets and gorgonzola).

The highlight for me was the melted wax candelabras on display — they fit perfectly into the venue’s warm décor. A row of faux candles along the far wall; dark wood paneling square columns positioned to create pockets of privacy; mirrors to amplify the space. What can I say? I’m a sucker for atmosphere. We had a professional and attentive waitress, and the food itself was generous, tasty, and well presented. Where Aged loses two stars is in the speed of its service — it took at least an hour for our main course to finally emerge from the kitchen. If you’ve got time to kill and cash to spare, Aged is a solid choice.

I came back here lat week on a week night and wasn’t as impressed as I was the first time I came. First of all they didn’t have their famous lamb burger… I kinda went for that reason, so I was disappointed. The fried calamari I had the first time were definitely better than these ones, which weren’t bad, but nothing special… they didn’t have the same spicing. This time I had their steak quesadillas, which weren’t bad, but charging $ 19 for 4 quesadillas that aren’t even filled(half were just tortilla) wasn’t cool. I was expecting something more upscale, considering the price. For dessert I had the chocolate cake, which was delicious and very delicate.

BRUNCHREVIEW In case the above caps lock didn’t give it away, I visited Aged recently for a Sunday brunch, so if you’re visiting for dinner, this is probably not the best review for you. But judging from some of the other reviews, brunch may actually be the way to go with Aged. Our party of four really enjoyed the meal, and it was made even better by having a $ 25 Scoutmob discount! Brunch at Aged does not come with unlimited drinks or any other gimmicks. It’s just good food prepared well and served quickly in a laid-back environment. In fact, beware that a mimosa will set you back $ 10, which is pretty steep in my opinion. I ate the French toast, which was prepared using challah. Yum! Served with fresh berries, whipped cream, and a blueberry sauce, it was filling without feeling too heavy. My date had Eggs Benedict, which she liked very much. I remember one of my friends having the baked eggs and liking that, but I forgot what her boyfriend had. I guess I was too busy stuffing my face to notice what he ordered. The service was also very good. Our water glasses were kept full, the bread basket was bottomless, and our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. Next time I am looking for a brunch spot on the UWS, I’ll definitely consider Aged. You should too.

The WORST service. I’ve been here 10 – 15 times. Service has been hit or miss. HUGE miss today! For brunch, they never brought us bread, forgot my wifes side of homefries for her baked eggs, and did not put the mayo on my chicken sandwich. It could have been fixed quickly, but no one came to do the standard«how is everything?» I could understand if it was crowded, but we were the only table that was still being served. Finally, after 20 minutes without any service, and lacking half of what we had orded, I had to take our drinks to the bar to get refilled. 5 minutes later the waiter brings me my drink, but had forgotten my wifes. I also mention all the issues,(no mayo, no bread, no side of fries) and that we really don’t need it now, because we are done. But, they bring out two sides of mayo anyway, one having a HUGEBLACKHAIR in it!!! I tell the waiter about the HAIR10 minutes later when he checks back, and he just stares at it and doesn’t say a WORD! No apology. Nothing. PLEASE keep reading, here is the best part… He brings the Long, gnarly black HAIR back 5 minutes later and tells me that there is no guy in the restaurant whose hair it could be! He literally brings the mayo covered hair, in the little mayo petrie dish back to the table and shows it to me again! Why??? I am not trying to find the owner! I just didn’t want to see if anymore. Its not mine, or my wifes, its a BLACKHAIR. Also, thought it might sort of benefit the restaurant in the future, you know, maybe check that meals aren’t hairy when they are served. and STILLNOAPOLOGY. What? I mean, well its a 50⁄50 thing, could be his fault could be mine? NOO!!! Its the restaurants fault, along with all the other issues, so at LEAST say sorry. Take ownership!!! did I miss something on the menu? «For brunch, we will serve only half of what you have ordered. This missing half will be replaced by a long black hair. Enjoy!» The manager was nice enough, he did comp us the meal, which he should have done, but it was all too late, they couldn’t have done worse if they tried. So, in closing, they have prices equal to Quality Meats, Porter House, Sparks, etc but the service is literally worse then Wendy’s. I swear, grab a team from Chick-fil-a, and the place would run 10X better. They are going to run them selves into the ground – too bad because I liked have a local steak shop but will NEVER be BACK! Never be back!!!

I’ve noticed Aged quite a few times when I’ve passed by the area. I was always intrigued by the place, a local steakhouse without all the Midtown excess, but I was less than optimistic with their 2.5 star Unilocal rating, and their 17 on Zagat for food. However, once we got a $ 50 off $ 100 coupon from , it made it a lot easier to roll the dice and see what was up. I should start out by saying that the décor was pretty cool. It’s dark, low light, and very modern, which made for a comfortable setting. I especially liked the huge candelabra with what looks to be years of melted wax on it. As for the hostess, she was pretty friendly and accommodating. We walked in without a reservation, and even though it was pretty full, she seated us right away without any attitude at all. As for the food, we went with the shredded brussels sprouts with Parmesan, and the beef carpaccio with arugula, shaved Parmesan, olives and capers. The apps were great, and the portions were quite big. My girl came nowhere close to finishing the brussels sprouts, as it was easily enough for 3 people. My carpaccio was very good quality, and the combination of flavors on the plate were excellent. What’s better than mixing the sweetness of the meat and olive oil, the sharp saltiness of the capers and olives, and the earthiness of good parm? As for the entrees, we both went with filet mignon’s, an 8 oz. and a 12 oz. respectively, along with kale and baked potato. The meat was cooked as requested, came with a great sear, and was very enjoyable. Ironically, it didn’t seem to be dry aged, even though this place is called Aged, but it was very good nonetheless. The sides were alright, but didn’t leave a huge impression. As for the service, it was dutiful and competent enough, though a bit crude at times. As I mentioned, we had a coupon with us. We’ve never used one before, and were a bit skeptical based on some reviews we’ve seen at other places, where people were treated like second class filth as soon as they mentioned the discount. So we decided not to reveal it until the check came, to ensure we had good service. But as we sat down and discreetly started checking out the coupon terms, the waiter noticed it and literally grabbed it out of our hands. His welcome shtick faded and he got right to business, saying«you must tip 18% on the full amount!». Smooth operator you are buddy! Aside from that unpleasantness, little things were off. My girl asked for lemon for her drink, but it took 3 requests to get it. And we had to wait a looong time between the app and the entrée. Finally, as the waiter had stressed, the coupon mandates an 18% tip on the full amount, which is fine of course. But without asking or explaining why, they decided to jack it up to about 19.5%. Honestly, we tip about 20% or more usually, so we didn’t make a big deal out of it, but it definitely came across as dishonest to me. If it were based on the food alone, I’d probably give these guys a 4 or 4.5 stars or so. It was MUCH better than I expected based on all the reviews. But the service faux pas and the tip shenanigans sets it back quite a bit for me, so I’ll go with 3 Unilocal stars.

I’ve been to the Aged in Forest Hills before and coming to this one, I was a little dissapointed. The menus are totally different. I came here for the steak because I remember how flavorful the steak at the other location was, and it was very meh. The place does look nice and it’s a good place for a date. But if you’re here for the food, skip it, and take a trip to Queens instead.
